MaxInDHouse:Holding that one side must be right and the other wrong is the flaw sir. Jesus is not interested in denomination, he is interested in the individual who does his will. Thanks. |
tctrills:You are correct sir according to John 5:23. John 5:23 [23]so that everyone will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him. But he was also right by saying that the Father who gave his son (Jesus) ALL authority is greater than Jesus. And that is also true according to John 14:28. John 14:28 [28]Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am. I don't think you disagree with that sir. Thanks. |
I have studied tctrills and Max argument and I can only deduce just one misunderstanding. 1. Max do not agree with tctrills that Jesus is god in his nature and the Father has delegated ALL authority to him, making him Almighty. 2. tctrills will not agree with Max that the Father who delegated the authority to his son (Jesus) is greater than Jesus thereby making Jesus a subordinate to someone which is the Father. The issue is BOTH OF THEM ARE CORRECT. But they didn't just know they are looking at two different points. 1. Jesus is god (all powerful) because the father has committed ALL things into his hands until the end of days. And the Father made this known. Just like Pharaoh did with Joseph during the plenty and famine period, thereby making Joseph THE LEADER OF EGYPT in Pharaoh's stead. John 5:22 [22]In addition, the Father judges no one. Instead, he has given the Son absolute authority to judge, 2. The Father is definitely greater than his son (Jesus) and Jesus also retriated this severally. 1 Corinthians 15:27-28 [27]For the Scriptures say, “God has put all things under his authority.” (Of course, when it says “all things are under his authority,” that does not include God himself, who gave Christ his authority.) [28]Then, when all things are under his authority, the Son will put himself under God’s authority, so that God, who gave his Son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhere. LET US ALL PURSUE THE PATH OF PEACE AND UNDERSTANDING. THANKS. |
Cashel:There is a question I always ask atheists that they can't answer. Let me ask you. If you can answer convincingly, I will advise you continue as an atheist, but if you can't, I will advise you believe that there is a creator behind all your seeing. The question. WHICH ONE EXISTED FIRST, THE HEN OR THE EGG? Thanks. |
Truthseeker10:I quoted it for you alreat sir. the glory we shared ...before the foundation of the world. Even the Pharisees understood the gravity of. Jesus calling himself the son of God which make him equal with God. Read it yourself. John 5:18,23 [18]So the Jewish leaders tried all the harder to find a way to kill him. For he not only broke the Sabbath, he called God his Father, thereby making himself equal with God. [23]so that everyone will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him. Can you see, Jesus was equal with god before Incarnation, when he was alive and when he is now at the right hand of the Father. Jesus even said that he should be honored just exactly the way the father his honored. Thanks. |
Truthseeker10:Did I say it or Philippians 2:6 said it? It is me or Paul? |
Truthseeker10:I have explained it sir. I don't know exact your viewpoint so I can know what exactly you have issues with. Philippians 2:9-11 has answered it clearly what the glory was. Philippians 2:9-11 [9]Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, [10]that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11]and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. That is the glory they shared, where the Father is glorified in the son. It's not as if it is an egg, where two people divide it into two. But a glory where the glory that comes to the son glorifies the Father. God is well please with him in all things. |
All the old testament prophets were ministered to through angels. The Father and the Son never walked in the realm of men. The angels mediated between the heavens and the earth. The son (Jesus) only manifested in his reincarnation for salvation. So, the old testament until Mary were ministered through angels. While the new testament was ministered through the Jesus. Hebrews 2:2-3 [2]For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished. [3]So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak? Thanks. |
Truthseeker10:I do not understand what you want me to explain now. Are you saying the son is the Father? If yes, that is not anywhere consistent with the scriptures. If no, then one must be greater. And from Jesus himself, the Father is greater than I am. It clear it. I think you need to look for my explanation of the Father and son relationship in the other thread. You haven't shared your view withe, so at least I can know where we agree and where we dont.Thanks. |
Truthseeker10:Yes sir. That is the position of the scriptures according to Philippians 2:6 Philippians 2:6 [6]Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. And John 17:5 John 17:5 [5]Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began. Thanks. |
Truthseeker10:I know you have read my context. Pls, if there are any issues, pls let me know ur viewpoint .I am a reasonable person and I am not rigid and if we can't agree on some issues. I will pay my full respect. Thanks. |
Truthseeker10:Read my modified message. I have dealt with how the Trinity message should be treated in another thread and that has broutpeace and understanding to the thread. The Father (1) sent his son (2) to die for man. After his death and ascension, The son by his father's authority sent his spirit (3) to guide all the saved in that journey. That should be the Trinity message. All are one and united in purpose. But the Father is greater than the son and the son is greater than the spirit. That is the position from the scriptures. Thanks. |
Truthseeker10:Read my reply above in my response (sorry, it is in another forum) . Equal with as used in Philippians 2 is different from equal to. I am an English expert and teacher. "Equal with" means exalted to a state of similar rank with a distinct. "Equal to" means being of equality in all forms where one cannot succumb to the other. So, Jesus is equal with god but not equal to god. Equal with God means God has exalted him to a place where all creation honor him, but not equal to god because he is subject to his father in all things. |
tctrills:We both agree. We just need to fine tune wat we agreed on. On you last statement, this is my view below. Jesus is god in the context of his divinity but since the father is greater than the son, don't you think the Father is a superior god than the son. Let's look at some Bible context, but if you disagree, you will show me ur context too and then we reason and see what goes on from our reasoning. 1. Jesus agreed that the Father is greater than him. John 14:28. 2. Jesus affirm that the Father is his own god. John 20:17. 3. Jesus confessed that it is only the Father that is all knowing. That there are something he himself doesn't know. Matthew 24:36. 4. Jesus affirm that it is only the Father that is all able and there are things he cannot do but only the Father can. Matthew 20:23. 5. Jesus confirmed that the Father is the One true god. John 17:3. You can see that I didn't even quote the apostles. Only Jesus himself in clear term. Those are irrefutable proof from Jesus himself that the Father is the superior god whom alone is above Jesus. That was why I said. Jesus is god and above all other creations but subject only to the Father who alone is superior and supreme to all including his son. I think that's what Paul clarified in 1 Corinthians 15:27-28. Thanks and god bless you. |
Truthseeker10:I am a believer. So, it's a yes for me. I know the Father and his Christ. |
Truthseeker10:I really have not known your stand on the op question. I like to engage people civilly and respect their opinion as I do that. Can I know your view and perspective sir on the op direct question. Thanks sir |
Truthseeker10:Is the Father ofcourse. No sane person should argue that. But do not neglect the other part.... and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. |
MaxInDHouse:I think we have both made our points and showed our perspectives. Thanks for the honor. You are respected sir. |
Truthseeker10:Direct answer. As a believer, Jesus is enough for me to deliver me from sin. Thanks. |
Truthseeker10:Smile. Sir, one Bible verse cannot be interpreted in isolation. I understand your view, but I think we need to balance all the passages that speaks about salvation and how a man is saved and not just look at it from just a single lens. If we agree that believing in Jesus alone is enough. How do we then explain Jesus statement in Matthew 7:21-23? Matthew 7:21-23 [21]“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. [22]On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ [23]But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’ And James 2:14-26 James 2:14,18-20 [14]What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? [18]Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” [19]You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. [20]How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless? Thanks. |
cutecommend:It is only sin that leads man to damnation. That is what is consistent with scriptures. We need to look at it from two angles. 1. What is the essence of believing in Christ? It is to deliver man from sin. So if a man claims to have Christ and continues in his sin, his mental acceptance of Christ cannot and will not deliver him. James 2:14-26 2. What about a man who did not hear about Christ till his death? Imagine our forefathers who lived before the 17th century when Christianity came or nations who had laws that restrict the penetration of Christianity. Will God a Just God judge them based on them not believing in a person they have never even heard of? Did Job, a non Jew and non Christian believe in Jesus or the Jewish customs? But he was said to be blameless and upright before God. Romans 2:11-16. Every man shall be judged by HIS WORKS. Our belief in Christ helps us to live that life, if it doesn't help a man live right, then his belief is as good as 'p' in psychology. James 2:14. Thanks. |
tctrills:Sir, I don't think you need to argue this any further sir. I have engaged them and I think both of you are looking at it from two different angles that can be united and that will represent the scriptures. I have given the same reply to Mr Gabriel and other person and we all agreed. This is the true position of the scriptures sir. 1. That Jesus is god based on his divinity and existence and also the confirmation of Thomas in John 20:28-29 John 20:28-29 [28]“My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed. [29]Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.” 2. That the Father is greater than the son (Jesus). This is also confirm by Jesus himself severally and accept that the Father is his god as clearly stated in John 14:28 and John 20:17. 3. That the son (Jesus) is subject to the Father and the Father is not subject to the son as clearly stated in 1 Corinthians 15:27-28. 1 Corinthians 15:27-28 [27]For the Scriptures say, “God has put all things under his authority.” (Of course, when it says “all things are under his authority,” that does not include God himself, who gave Christ his authority.) [28]Then, when all things are under his authority, the Son will put himself under God’s authority, so that God, who gave his Son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhere. I DO NOT THINK YOU DISAGREE WITH ANY OF MY THREE POINTS ABOVE. THANKS. |
MaxInDHouse:Sir, you made series of points that I also share except: 1. In your reaction to the first two questions, you said "some from James" meant those who must have argued with James. I don't not agree. If that was the fact, Peter and Barnabas wouldn't have respected them to the level of being afraid of them. James believed and held that the Jews should continue to observe the customs which included circumcision but not the Gentiles. While Paul believed that circumcision is useless both to the Jews and the Gentiles. Remember, the agreement in Acts 15 was only to the Gentiles while the Jews maintained the status quo which I don't think really sat well with Paul seeing that Paul do not want any difference or distinction between the Jews and the Gentiles. This was show in Paul's letter to the Galatians in Galatians 3:23-29 Galatians 3:23-29 [23]Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed. [24]Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith. [25]And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian. [26]For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. [27]And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. [28]There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. James held a different view on how the law was to be practiced different from Paul's view. Even if you notice James letter, unlike Peter's and Paul's, he only sent his letter to the Jews alone across the world and not to Gentiles - James was remembered as a Judaistic Christian in his practice, a blend of Judaism and Christianity. James 1:1 [1]This letter is from James, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.I am writing to the “twelve tribes”—Jewish believers scattered abroad.Greetings! |
delkuf:Smile. I will take note of that. Thank. |
MaxInDHouse:Smile. Maxim. Let me ask you this tree questions on James and Paul and highlight each question as you answer them specifically. 1. What did Paul meant by "some (friends) from James" in Galatians 2:12.? 2. What was the viewpoint of these "friends from James" on circumcision according to same Galatians 2:12.? 3. The discussion in Acts 21:18-24. What were the friends of James and James trying to make Paul do to convince the converting Jews in relation to the Mosaic law and the Jewish customs? We have both read scriptures, I do not criticize even with my knowledge of scriptures, I try to look at why people think the way they think and also respect it as long as it does not affect the core principles of salvation. Pls answer those questions one after the other. Pls don't lump it up. Address them point by point since you are of the opinion that James was not peculiar about the law of Moses. Thanks. |
delkuf:1. THANKS. |
MaxInDHouse:Smile. Sir, James was saying nothing in relation to JW. I understand the fact that you are a strong adherent to the JW but please don't let it cloud your judgement. What I have done is to show you clearly from scriptures that even among the apostles there were some topical issues which were not agreed upon. We all are body of Christ if we hold on to what he represents irrespective of denomination or creed. For instance: You can't convince me that Jesus is Michael and it may be impossible for me to convince you that he is not. But what does that change? Is that disagreement enough for either of us to lose salvation or be rejected by God. I think the obvious answer is No. We need to grow to where we all need to matter on what matter and stop majoring on minors. |
delkuf:Sir, what level sir? Please, read all my write up on it and you will understand my viewpoint is well evident in the scriptures. |
MaxInDHouse:Sir, you didn't get the message of both men. You only interpreted their intentions which was correct. James will trying to dispel the misinterpretation of Paul's letter especially to the Romans. People still misinterpreted it today that faith alone without good works equals salvation but James pointed it out that it is our good works that shows our faith in God. Sir, it is not coincidence that both of them quoted the same verse Genesis 15:6, talked about the same man - Abraham and explained the same subject - Salvation through faith and works. Even though, Paul's intention and message was clear, people of that time misconstrued it and James was addressing that. Actually Paul was not only talking about the Mosaic law even though he also addressed that, but he also taught that salvation comes only by faith and not by the works of the Mosaic law . James was a strong believer in the law, that's why Paul usually refer to people if the circumcision as "people from James." that's is people from the camp of James - Galatians 2:12. James believed that Jewish believers should still keep the Mosaic law along with their Faith in Christ while the Gentiles should still keep the moral part of the Mosaic laws. But Paul on the other hand believed that the law has been outdated by grace and both the Jews and the Gentiles should not keep the law of Moses. That was evident in Paul and James conversation in Acts 21:17-24. Pay attention to verse 21. My point is this. If you read all the letters of Paul and other apostles, you will understand that there had always been minor different views on some topic like the circumcision, food, Mosaic law, culture of the Gentiles and how it should be managed in relation to the Jews amongst other issues, but what has and will always keep us together is Jesus and Jesus alone. |
MaxInDHouse:That's why I said Maxim, you still have a lot to learn about church history even from the Apostles days. So, you do not know the difference in Paul and James views on Salvation and Judaism. That's why I advised that you need to broading your views. For a start, read Romans 4 and James 2:14 downwards and analyze to yourself Paul and James views on Genesis 15:6 and how James reanalyzed Paul's teaching to the Romans on Faith and works and Abraham's righteousness. Then link it to Paul's description of James friends when he rebuked Peter in Galatians 2:11-14. Thanks. |
MaxInDHouse:Your first point: Who guides the Human Shepard? What is the role of the Holy Spirit to individual believers? Your second point: Paul did not rely on the other apostle. He only relied in the spirit of God in him. Galatians 2 proved that. Read it yourself. Galatians 2:6 [6]And the leaders of the church had nothing to add to what I was preaching. (By the way, their reputation as great leaders made no difference to me, for God has no favorites.) Also, Paul did not seem to agree with some of the decision James made in Acts 15, most especially on food offered to idol because Paul taught the Corinthians otherwise in 1 Corinthians 8. And even James accused Paul of teaching against the resolution in Act 15 in Acts 21:17-25. All these are irrefutable proofs that the Holy Spirit is the most reliable teacher and guide for all true Christians. Not those who lied against the spirit to distirt the truth of the scriptures anyways, but the true followers. |
MaxInDHouse:You only amplified what I said about Acts 15. The only area you should but u don't want to angry is that the Holy Spirit resides in the heart of every true believer and he directs and guides them into all truth. How will even an elder teach the congregation if he himself has not been taught by the spirit? Why will Paul lay claim that he has received his message from no one but from Christ himself through revelation even though he didn't see Christ in his earthly ministry. Galatians 1 proves this that the Holy spirit teaches man without human interference even though fellowship is Key. Or Maxim, will you interprete Paul's testimony to the Galatians to me in Galatians 1. The whole chapter but let me just drop some verses. Galatians 1:12,16-19 [12]I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ. [16]to reveal his Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles. When this happened, I did not rush out to consult with any human being. [17]Nor did I go up to Jerusalem to consult with those who were apostles before I was. Instead, I went away into Arabia, and later I returned to the city of Damascus. [18]Then three years later I went to Jerusalem to get to know Peter, and I stayed with him for fifteen days. [19]The only other apostle I met at that time was James, the Lord’s brother. Thanks |
