you are a real liar, I have seen over 200k miles sound and dry on original engine. i have one at hand now with almost 170k drives like new all the time and very punchy, way better than Over hyped Camry. Stop saying what you dont know. Because you have seen one with bad engine at below 150k does not mean that the Toyota dont fail at below 150k.
Infact the some over hype toyota engines are known to zap oil below 100k miles.
OK.

It is rare to see this car still having its original engine after 150 thousand miles.

your car before it was shipped to naija was used in a very cold region , tell your mechanic to remove the thermostat , permanent the fans and also check the polarity of the fan (the temperature gauge will never go beyond that normal position ).

Oga,as regards your 3rd paragraph, normal operating temperature of Mercedes W204 is well above the half mark, just below the 3rd quarter mark.
You might need to do a bit of research on this.
The engine design( at least i know for the M272 found in the C300 and C350) allows the engine to run hotter than you would usually expect in asian cars

This is why you MUST use genuine MB coolant (AND NOT WATER or ABRO!) in those engines.

Thing is, the hotter the temperature an engine runs, the more efficient it becomes. But of course this is limited by the materials used in the engine construction and the ability for such materials to resist creep(thermal) stresses.
Car TalkRe: When Things Go Wrong by Inception(m):
radautoworks:
Before I start, I'm posting this because no matter how good you are, things go wrong and it's not only the good we share, we share the bad as well. This story cost us both personnel and money but despite everything had a happy ending.

So a customer had a pretty new Mercedes that needed a full pump replaced. Pretty simple except... One of my techs decided that rather than do what we trained him to do and check all the lines and tank and clean/flush all associated parts he was simply going to go the kazeem route and not bother. WELL... apparently what was in the tank was so bad that it immediately ruined the newly installed pump. Story didn't end there (this was relayed to me second hand so bear with me if some detail is missing).

SOMEHOW not only did it ruin the new pump, the motor engine started having problems... The car was brought back for him to rectify his error (yes, terrible move but I was not consulted and found out after the fact). Long story short, the motor engine of this Mercedes was ruined and could not be rebuilt...

Now, this is the part I wanted to emphasize. We immediately acknowledged our error, brought in a replacement pump and motor engine (both of which have a one year warranty) and refunded the customer. We also had to let the tech go as it wasn't a lack of knowledge but quite simply negligence. This was particularly painful to me because I know what the tech was capable of in the past but he had recently been regressing and getting sloppy.

Did we lose the customer? No, because of how it was handled. Not only that, we got a referral out of it. All this happened while I am away for an extended period and I am incredibly proud of how my staff handled it. I only heard about it because they needed my okay to cover the cost of the replacement motor engine.

So there you have it, there will come a time when we will mess up. The difference is with us, we own up to it and rectify it. My staff understands that it's not that things won't go wrong, it's how you handle it when they do go wrong.

Pobody's nerfect.

Same way motorcycles moved from whole importation to parts importation and assembly due to its cost efficiency.. Its obvious cars are moving in that direction aswell to take advantage of the market..

Auto importers should look into this direction, if the prices can match the cost of the average tokunbo, am sure it would take over the market.

The Chinese would be at great advantage because the Nigerian auto industry market would shift from the used US cars to assembled Chinese/Japanese imports 100%..
I saw what you did there... grin

Mercedes-Benz M103 engine

Pls stop calling my engine carburettor type ejo undecided

It's electronic fuel injection (continuous)

The fuel injection system is not Electronic. I would say is purely mechanical. At least the one shown in your engine bay is not (the M103 is a 12 valve SOHC) with either 2.6 or 3.0 l displacement ( the 3.0 was found in the w124 and 126 chassis, but not the w201)

You're sick in the head undecided
OcVoice:
Yes, I can categorically tell you that people do NOT get jobs by merit in Nigeria. I have loads of instances and experiences that I can back this with and I know a lot of people too will testify to this except those really gaining from the government and just want to blindly support their pay master.

Let me start with the interview I went last week. We were about 15 guys. We sat at the security office, and were called in, in 4's. Then it remained about 4 of us. 2 guys were discussing in Yoruba, then the CSO called out the guy beside me. I went out and pretended as if I was making a call and I was speaking in Yoruba. I overheard the CSO telling the guy in Igbo that "oga" said he should come in last. He assured him that he would be employed as long as "oga" is involved. I'm very sure I did well at the interview. As I was leaving, I collected his number. I called him today and he said he was called to come this week for medicals.

It is no news that to get a job in any of the MDA's, you have to pay a huge sum of money. Jobs in MDA's are sold from 700k upwards. You can NEVER see a due process, free and fair fed. Govt recruitment. There has to be job racketeering. Go to the MDA salary thread on Nairaland and you will almost cry tears for Nigeria. I will never forget how my name was shortchanged in NSITF recruitment. After paying for registration, writing test, and attending 2 different interviews. People with STRONG connection who initially knew nothing about the recruitment nor even paid for registration, nor did test, nor attended interview, later got the jobs.

As I speak with you, a secret underground employment is currently going on in FIRS, but they recently came out to debunk it. People are even doing induction, while some are getting appointment letters.

It is not just in federal or state government, even in private firms. You can not get a job in Nigeria today if you don't have connection.

The problem is not only the Government, it is also that of the privileged citizens.

NIGERIA IS FINISHED! Believe me when I say NIGERIA OUR COUNTRY IS FINISHED!

If you an undergraduate hoping to get a job in Nigeria after NYSC without a STRONG and CONFIRMED connection, please do yourself and your future a fantastic favour by saving from your NYSC allawee, then apply for a school Visa and leave this country. If you get there, go to a cheaper school and start a new life. Get involved with a citizen, then marry.

THERE IS NO HOPE IN THIS COUNTRY FOR THE CONNECTIONLESS!
THERE IS NO HOPE IN THIS COUNTRY FOR THE CONNECTIONLESS!
THERE IS NO HOPE IN THIS COUNTRY FOR THE CONNECTIONLESS!

Nigeria destroyed my life. Wasted my time! Killed my dream! I am 40. I have no job, no wife, no business.

Last words: IT IS ONLY REVOLUTION THAT WILL REVIVE THIS COUNTRY

The movement was really poor, car felt choked cry i could barely do 60km/hr sad

I could literarily feel the vehicle say "I can't breathe" at this point i had 2 options, turn back and check the exhaust system or drive really slow to Lagos.

Word of advice at this point, if you are driving a modern day car with a blocked exhaust system stop and get it fixed, you could damage a lot of things in the engine including literarily setting the car on fire .

But Gazzuzz was not driving a modern day car, I took a third option which was to push the car harder, in my mind better spoil now let me tow you back to town and take GIG jeje cheesy

I experienced the same after buying a full tank of PMS yesterday at a NNPC franchise Petrol station yesterday in PH (along East-west road)

Car started jerking even before i left the station.

I simply got home, drained all the fuel from the tank into 2 jerrycans and took it back to the station in another car. It was adulterated (kpo-fire)

Told them i will make sure they lose 4x time amount i spent if i dont get a refund by standing by their pump and discourage any potential buyer( i positioned the jerrycans close to the working pump)

After small noise making they refunded my N9,500.00K angry grin grin

I don't think there's anything wrong with asking what car to buy and giving your preferences. My main gripe is more with how tangential most of the post is.

Lost me at the paragraph when he started talking about his education. Completely irrelevant and, in my opinion, potentially a sign of an unfocused, wandering mind.
True.. True...

But sometimes we need to accommodate folks that blow trumpets... For that is who they are.

And besides, I think all the 'talk' is simply to suppress his true innate desire for the car he really wants to buy. We all know that when the money comes, that CRV will be no where near that first choice of his.

But to be honest, I kind of like his 'plans' he revealed in the digression from the main issue at hand( the car to buy). Quite puerile, but still...
