ifeelgood: SETTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT Romeo Sunny wrote: 1. Even the great critic OBJ publicly told the world that GMB is an upright man. 2. Not many people know that his 1st daughter is married to an Igbo man from Anambra. 3. He exempted Christians from performing duty on Sundays. “When his Muslim soldiers asked him to exempt them from duty on Friday, he told them the bible says Christians should rest on the 7th day, the Muslims should show him where the Koran says they should rest on Fridays. 4. As Head of State he slashed the number of Muslim going on pilgrimage by 50%. 5. His driver and cook for the past 10+ years are Christians yet some uninformed Nigerians say he is a bigot. 6. It is a pity that some people failed to understand that PDP deliberately capitalised on the gullibility of Nigerians to paint him black. This they did in order to keep their loot and ensure that he never gets the opportunity to send them to gaol. How many Nigerians would hold the appointment of government, minister of petroleum, PTF chairman and head of state yet don’t own a house in Abuja? 7. In the last 12 years, he has not gone for pilgrimage in Mecca. 8. Love him, hate him, you cannot take his integrity away from him. 9. Well done Gen Muhammadu Buhari. You have stood the test of time and character with a swagger. It is time we set the records straight. 10. No wonder, Gov. Akpabio told Obj: "we have messed up, don't leave us alone, I don't want to go to jail and my children are too young". 11. Sadly, these are people Nigerians celebrate as good leaders; those that have messed up and don't want to go to jail. 12. Nigerians are like someone who give kudos to a thief for robbing him of all his possessions. 13. We can decide today to vote Buhari or continue with those who have "messed Nigeria up", but Buhari will go down in history as the greatest servant who has consistently offered himself to serve Nigeria. If all these are true, then Nigerians will be making a mistake by not voting in GMB. I've always considered him as a preferred option to GEJ though. |

muafrika: Could the fact that our generation is generally more covered(Those exposing a lot are fewer, mostly limited to urban centers) have something to do with it?
@Ihedinobi2 @infomizer I don't think so. It just may be as a result of the more liberal society a lá freedom of expression. Just half a century ago, the western world (that we seem to emulate a lot) were as conservative as they get fashion-wise. And then, transformation began. The entertainment industry was a major change agent and the zeitgeist spread exponentially. The media teased the human mind with sexual imagery and idolized scanty dress styles. That's why I couldn't agree less with your initial post that cited the society of our grandparents. Even in the present day, less-exposed societies are equally guilty of exposure of body parts (See picture of a parent breastfeeding her child openly below). Yet, they don't bat an eyelid about indecent dressing. Their lives are completely normal. The media (in the hands of a very liberal individual) is the culprit here, for taking away the innocence of our minds. Maybe it wasn't the initial agenda, maybe they only wanted to liberate the mind, but it is now a global scourge. I'm for moderation in all things and expression shouldn't be exempted.

muafrika: True, but doesn't cultural orientation of the mind play a bigger role. I mean my grandparent wore basically nothing till just the other day and their generation had a higher level of morality than ours. This is so true! The mind is all that matters, but the write-up scored a point. |

Eve62: sorry for the spelling. If you know the right spelling pls correct it and i'll appreciate. You got me wrong. I wasn't talking about any spelling. I was referring to your apt, albeit, unintended play on words. You were talking about how a vein connects to the heart, followed by your use of the phrase "In the same vein". That's very cool! I was complimenting you. |
Family › Re: Why Wedding And Engagement Rings Are On The Left Hand by Infomizer(m): 12:09pm On Dec 12, 2014 |
Eve62: I just surprisingly learnt that the reason from ancient times why wedding and engagement rings are placed on the left hand is because it is believed that there is a vein (vena amoris) that connects from the heart (being at the left hand side) to left hand and the ring fings which indicates that your husband/fiance' is close to ur heart keeping feelings, emotions and continuous love. In thesame vein, the wedding ring is placed first before the engagement ring sothat the wedding ring is closer to the heart. Couldn't help but spot the unintended pun! |

Frankenstein: I like the way you put it. But I'll only call for a change if continuity can be maintained in part. It largely depends on what is being continued. Logically, working policies, yes. However, the present atmosphere is rife with ineptitude in so many areas. These things are known, and that's what many people don't want to continue. |

I'm apolitical too and I know that no one is a saint. I once saw a documentary about Buhari's involvement in Dikko's attempted kidnap from the UK back then. I think many of his supporters are aware, but people just want change! As in, change!!! Whether it turns out good or bad, history will tell. But methinks many Nigerians are fed up with the present political status quo. Any form of change is acceptable. #CandidOpinion |

Don't tell me that one benefit is sex cos i can pay and have the same sex with a prostitute and we go our separate ways.
