Christianity Etc › Re: Cameroon's President Orders Pentecostal Churches Closed by Infomizer(m): 9:13am On Aug 17, 2013
HolyHolla: Merely substituting religion for reason only leads to failure and that is what we are presently witnessing.

The nation will remain in shambles if all we practice is reason or mere religion.

The new Age of Reason developing in the western societies is not helping their issues. There are more dastardly crimes because people are told not to believe in deity or after life, the fear of which kept many under control in the past. That is what reason does to a decadent society.

On the other hand too, religion without true practice of faith only leads to people believing that they are safe, as long as they attach themselves to a religious group. That is what fosters the cultism in all religions nowadays. Of course, even if you proclaim Christianity, but you believe more in your group than in your God and His true principles, you are just practicing cultism!!!huh

Let me give you an example: Remember a group of Christians in Lagos whose pastor poured petrol on some members and lit them up? The members are still existing as a church and supporting their pastor who's now on death row, and who has shown no form of remorse or repentance over his actions. That is NOT Christianity, but cultism.
Well argued. What we both propose is impossible in our present society. Both in the more religious (roman catholic dominance) and not religious (communist era) past, society has failed. Reasoning works well in an ideal society but since we don't av dat, I den mentiond dat religion may be part of d solution provided folks abhor bigotry and tolerate reasoning(logic). Humans have the predilection to resort to an atavistic savagery & that may explain why there's always a judas in every 12.To me, this is why society fails, not because of reasoning as you opine.Let the believer respect/tolerate the unbeliever & vice versa & let both parties shatter the practice of impunity. This should work, but it won't since it is not possible given our nature.
Food › Re: Foods That Increase Your Chances Of Having Twins by Infomizer(m): 10:04pm On Aug 16, 2013
uteh: @OP, the name of the yan is water yam. I dont know d name in yoruba. U wont get it wit d regular yam sellers in d market. If u live in Lagos, u will see yoruba women who went to Lusada market in Agbara selling it along wit Ijebu garri and other native farm products. They normally display it on d ground in streets or go to Boundary market in Ajegunle.

I watched a documentary about it sometime ago. She has to start eating from first day of menses. I dont know how many months she will eat it before seeing result o. I understand it stimulates ovulation. Hope this helps.
The ijebus use water yam to make ikokore/ifoko and ojojo and these are quite popular delicacies with them. If water yam is the twin maker, then the ijebus should easily topple the igbo-ora folks. Abi?

jammyng: For your info, westerners are more religious, I repeat more religious (not fanatical) than africans. I bet you don't know that the key statement of the US is 'in God we trust'
I think we are much more religious than the westerners. Maybe not as religious as the orients, but definitely more religious than 'em.
My take on the religion thingy is this: religion does not seem to be the solution to our problem. Well, it may be part of the solution if reasoning is allowed and bigotry is disallowed. Why will this country remain in shambles if millions of prayers are offered to the deity everyday (and much more on fridays and sundays)? Beats me folks!

Politics › Re: Lagos-Ibadan Expressway And The Churches - Joe Igbokwe by Infomizer(m):
Tis a lugubrious situation, though i feel the onus lies on both parties (government and faith-based institutions). The govt. should expand the road (already) and worship centres should device a plan to mitigate the disturbing effects of thier programs. The damage has been done, thanks to a sick town planning system as already opined. Na to push for palliatives remain, or the institutions should construct thier own road network (if faith can move mountains, is it roads that will prove stubborn?) wink
so everybody should just save the life of his loved ones alone, while our government owned hospitals keep shaking? This is not the best solution please?
If everyone could afford & access quality healthcare, the wrongs of the system should correct themselves.
Health › Re: The Nigerian Healthcare System; Awful Or Awesome? by Infomizer(m): 7:42pm On Aug 03, 2013
I really never gave a hoot about the health care system until I lost a dear friend (and a very smart one at that) as a result of their incompetence. Since then, I have never been able to come terms with the fact that it is for real. The nightmarish situation is only avoidable if you have the financial means. Well, not many do and it is quite unfortunate. Identifying the culprits here won't solve the problem. Work hard/smart and make enough money to take care of yourself and your loved ones when the occasion arises. That's my take!

Even such a preposterous claim would not make one refer to you as brainless. However, it takes intelligence and quest for logical answers to become an apostate-cum-atheist. Not 'brainlessness' as you imply. All the atheists i've met reek of intelligence.

Anyone ever thought that we're probably projects of a zoology Phd student on Andromeda galaxy? Not my thoughts tho, but it is worth as much consideration as any other thought. My point is- we can only guess. We can't be truly certain as of yet, but when it comes to seeking answers the right way, science does it well!

None that I can think of per se. I was only trying to toy with the fact that if ‘jesus’ were to be an exclamation or onomatopoeia in another language, and the folks there have not met christians before, then it means that they will be casting out demons without even knowing it. Abi? grin grin grin

don33310: I think prayer is a mere wish
Well said. Imho, praying for the dead is waste of time. They don't need it. Although you, my friend (the praying mantis), need it more since you are alive (for you that believe in it o!) and you've got issues that a cadaver lacks.
