I do conceed or reason with other people but the reality of nature with evidence of personal contact with God will never allow me to agree with any fairytale of atheist scientist.

I only try to let other christians who has not had personal encounter with God and ready to compromise their faith in God because of the lies of personal interpretation of facts by some people in our universe like some atheist on NL do to KNOW that not everything......completed in my signature!

Shalom!
I don't think religious folks should accuse people as believing in fairytales. That said, dinos predate humans by millions of years. Science has proven that much. The op's error was in trying to marry epochs that were thousands of centuries apart just to lend credence to his belief system. Nice try though, only that i find it erroneously anachronistic. It is completely illogical to believe in the bible and believe dinos existed. You pick one and drop the other.

I am not in support of the underage thingy too o! I'm just saying that we failed to separate religion from state and this is one of the implications. Besides, these child 'victims' we are all fighting for may not feel wronged, not because they are too young to understand, but because they have been programmed from birth and probably prepped for early marriage. It's a thing of culture and as the apothegm goes, one man's meat is another man's poison. It is sad, but that is because we are outsiders to their culture and we understand the importance (to us) of consenting marriage. They probably marvel and feel disdain at some of our practices too so I'd rather we go about this in as peaceful a manner as possible.

Had to steal this quote from a website cause it expresses how I feel about the whole issue:

If for religious reasons you rooted for the ban on same-sex marriage, you have no right getting angry with the senate who for religious reasons have now also voted in favour of child marriage. Getting angry would be hypocritical. You can’t root for religion when it plays to your beliefs and scream murder when it doesn’t. You asked for this. (Mr. Mo, 2013)

Biafra diplomat: Please fellow nairalanders, I have 2.5 million naira I kept in treasury bills(advice I got here in nairaland) but now the tenor will soon expire and I strongly want to go into any business or investment that will fetch me good ROI. My liquid cash was 3.9 million but I used 1.4 million to buy land(advice I got here too), so I am left with 2.5 million. My mind is telling me to go into computers/accessories in one of the Eastern cities but I don't much about the line of business. Please I need your sincere advice, networking or forex trading is not in my agenda!

oluwamichael: Rules of prudent investment
Don't invest in wht u don't know
No investment in Nigeria of today can give u 4million if u invest 1million so beware.
My question is : Do u have time to monitor the growth of the business you want to venture into? If yes
Consider starting poultry business, fishery and agric export
Consider investing in Printing press.
Consider agency/wholesale business @ PZ -----this requires that u register with PZ

Pls note that if your 2.5 is not prudently spent ----------it would technically be a tongue.
You're on point with a couple of your suggestions, though I feel you should have specified the period in which you feel an investor will not get back 400% returns. Given time and compound interest, 1m can be 100m for the love of Dangote! wink

ooseven: If I give it to you, what would you invest in...in Nigeria?

State creative ways to ensure you (or your partners) stick to contract terms.

How long before you break even ceteris paribus.
What would I invest in? Export of an agricultural commodity (Details of which I'd rather send to you privately)

Creative ways? Pardon my utterance if it seems prosaic. Well, you can assign someone to be involved in the running around (loading supervision and logistics) on your behalf. This is of course, after our legal reps have met with each other. I won't be intransigent here and will be willing to work with your suggestions as well.

Break even period? Ceteris paribus, 3 months max (considering that we split profits 50-50 and we leverage on compound interest) since ROI per turnaround time (which is 4 weeks) is 40%. Do the maths, bro.

I'm available if you need further clarification, though I'd rather we go private if you don't mind.

Well, since you don't have the time to run around, and you probably are risk averse, stick to the surer and popular investment channels like the treasury bills, fixed deposits, and stuff like that. However, if you want to be more adventurous (and maybe take a little risk) and give yourself something to fall back on at the end of your fulfilling career, let's be in correspondence.

prologue: Good morning folks.
I have been thinking very hard. I have access to 1.5m USD and am thinking of making a proposal on agro-related investment, as my experience has shown that if you invest in what is been consumed daily, you will be successful...( Dangote style). Am thinking of rice production and processing (repayment for the loan is 3 to 4 years, 15 percent per annum interest). As I learned from another thread, palm oil production will take a longer time. Can you folks that are more experienced help with your inputs? Real Estate, oil and gas, agriculture... No online biz plz. Thank you
That's quite some money and as you probably know, will be risky to put all your eggs in one basket. Allow me to add commodity export (agricultural commodity, solid minerals, precious stones) to your repertoire of investment ideas. There are quite a number of commodities here and if you are willing to discuss, let's rub minds. (I'm not selling any e-book or what-ya-may-call-it). I just want to rub minds, that's all! grin*Oga-at-the-top-accent* grin

akagaba:
my dear, there is nothng like "common sense" wen it has 2do wit d thngs of God. Ur common sense is foolishnes be4 God. If u thnk ur common sense is so relevant in life, then ul be up evry nite 2calculate ur dreams and wat shud happen to ur life, and ofcus liv without mistakes in life.
Are you serious? If I may ask, who are you to make such an assertion? Why are you so sure that there is nothing like common sense before God? Why did he give us a brain? Is it not to think? If common sense is not so relevant to life, try caressing a hungry lion because your pastor said so or because of your faith in God's protection. Here is my advice, in order not to appear foolish before God, leave your family behind, and go open a church in Maiduguri. Going by your point of view, it will be the smartest thing to do. My point is this: committing a suicidal act in the name of religion is anti-nature and goes against the dynamics of survival.

See, guy, life is more spiritual, and d best way 2live is 2live by d word of God.
If you tell me life is more 'spiritual', then I may agree with you to an extent, though the fact that there are somethings that cannot be explained yet does not mean that they are spiritual! Now, telling me that living in the 21st century, by the word of God people that lived in another millennia, is the best way to live, is totally preposterous. That is argument for another thread though!

insinuating that stayin bak frm church on sunday is a 'common sense' to save ur life frm Boko haram menace is quite appolling and ridiculous. So wat wil u say abt those who wer d victims of d same calamity at their offices "ths day office and d rest?. Wil u tel me thats its rather beta to die at work than church? So funny.
How is 'staying safe' a ridiculous claim? We've not even ironed out that part of the bible where God said that you MUST go to church on sunday as a criteria for entering heaven? What happened to other more important rules like the Golden Rule?

Now don't get me wrong here! I'm not saying that you are safe from the Boko haram menace in the comfort of your homes! Life is a risk and there are more than a thousand ways to die unprepared. Who knows if cyanide is in the air that I'm breathing at this very moment? Nobody is promised tomorrow, not even Obama. Quick question here: Will you knowingly/willingly board a plane that you've been told wants to be managed for a particular fight due to its technical hitches? I don't think so and if you would, then I'm sorry for wasting your time and mine on this thread. However, if you wouldn't then you just followed my advice by staying safe. Though a bomb blast at the departure lounge in the airport may still take your life o!, but you've averted the one that can be averted. So answering your question, it is better not to commit suicide!!!!!

Are u aware dat why thes unscrupulous characters ar attackin churches specifically is jst 2thwart and eridicate christianity? And by ur stayin bak frm church in order 2escape this catastrophe is jst d best way of fulfilling and actualisin their goals/purpose?, are u aware?. If the muslims wil b so dreaded and deadly as to endulge in suicide bombin (dieing 4their belief, whch is even false) then tell me why we, christians, shudnt even go extra miles jst 4d sake of d gospel, that we kno is real and true, even if it means dieing 4it like Stephen in d bible. I wish ur eyes wil b opened 2 ths truth.
I'm fully aware bro, and they cannot succeed (Just as the roman-catholic church could not put out the flames of science and free thinking with their inquisition). But, what makes you think that their belief is false? Who are you to judge? Can't you just worship your God without judging other belief systems? Is that the Great Commission? Aha, Brother Stephen? The only difference between that bro and a BH suicide bomber is that he wasn't killing people (after all, they both died for what they believe in). Bro, I should be the one wishing that your eyes be opened to the truth about your belief system. There is a lot you don't know bro, I'm serious!!!

Remember, ul certainly die someday.
I have never forgotten that fact!!!

So guy, its so sad that becus of d fear of boko Haram, u decide 2stop worshipin in church. So nw u fear boko Haram mor dan God, to u, God wil undastand ur fear? Abi? wao, its really so sad, so so sad and i cry in my spirit.
I have told you to go start a ministry in Maiduguri since you are not afraid of BH o! Better still, try door-to-door evangelizing. God will definitely understand even if he doesn't protect you since your reward is in heaven (wherever that is)
Wat a weak and a coward xtian u ar if at al u ar a xtian? Wat wil u hav 2tel God if in d proces of U tryin 2save ths ur "life" u happen 2loose it, probably thru another means?
Call me whatever you want to, coming from you, I'm used to it. As per what I will tell God? What makes you think he is interested in my explanations? I was born to die anyway, so however that happens is left to me and him.

My dear, Until u undastand d efficacy and value of d gospel, then u wont eva be able 2tok d way im doing or even undastand my plight. But listen, for me and my house, if it means, diein 4d gospel whle servin God, then we wil do it a million times. There is a way out 4all thes thngs and its vry simple and it vexes dat peopl die without ths knowlege bt meanwhle If u thnk that ur common sense is ur tool 4life, then i wish u luck.
WoW! What a closing remark! Fortunately, I've been there, done that, and found it wanting! I was once in your shoes and would have said the same years ago, but the gospel has little to offer a truth seeker. Best of luck in trying to die for the gospel (don't forget the Maiduguri trip!!!). You won't be the first or the last. As for me, while I try to avoid death (and I will fail eventually!), I will stick to my reason and common sense.

Well, I don't intend arguing with your kind here and all I'm saying is: use the tools that God put at your disposal to survive (and that includes common sense)

akagaba: u ar a satanic agent and if u dnt repent nw, ul fry in hell. Havent u read in d bible abt d sabbath day? Why do muslims go 2mosque? Do u undastand the meanin of "fellowishp" sure u dnt and its a pity 4u. I wud rather die in church while servin God than stay at home in my hous on sunday. Get ths in2 ur empty skull.
My brother/sister, you don't need to be vituperative in your response. This is common sense. If Bingo (a dog) senses danger somewhere, it will only bark from afar but it won't go there. It is simply a survival instinct that God has bestowed us with. Why go against nature?

For judging my occupation as a satanic agent and my destination after death (from your own point of view), don't you think you have violated one of Jesus' (Your lord and personal savior) ethos about judging others?

Yes, I have read the bible about the sabbath and have also read 'my people perish because they lack wisdom'.

You are asking me why muslims go to mosque? Where is the pertinency in that with regards to my statement?

Considering the extent to which people have ingested religious doctrines without reason, I will be mistaken to think that people will quit making a suicidal trip to church despite the looming danger. So apparently, I'm not thinking through my anus.

You were also too quick to doubt my understanding of the meaning of 'fellowishp' [sic]. These days, Wordweb or Google will give me the meaning so it's no pity for me as you opined.

Well, bBest of luck in dying in church while serving God on 'sabbath day' (is it sunday or saturday?) instead of staying safe at home where 'two or three may be gathered in his name'. As for me I'd rather not commit suicide!

P.S. The last time I checked, my skull wasn't empty tongue

I've stopped paying my tithes to churches for years now and I even feel more financially accomplished (because I've made smart financial moves). I'm sure that what they preach in church is not applicable to me, In their own sense, I'm robbing God. If that is it, I don't mind robbing God to give to the less-privileged. Christianity Etc › Re: Stop It! No One Spoke In Unknown Tongues In The Bible! by Infomizer(m): 8:08pm On Feb 23, 2012
This tongue thing yet again!

From argument-led experience, I've learnt that Ap. Paul implied two types

Type 1: Hausa man speaking Esperanto
Type 2: Any 'spirit-filled' fella speaking in 'unknown' tongues supposedly understood by God

How come it's this type 2 that is 'proliferated' today?

What happened to type 1?

When the 'Holy Spirit' intervened in on the Pentecost, it was type 1 abi? Does that not imply that a spirit-filled fella has to obey type 1 since it was the original?

Could Ap.Paul (a prolific writer) not have invented type 2 subjectively? (After all, Shakespeare invented Romeo and Juliet)

Have they really analyzed the various angles of 'unknown' as Paul inferred? (Punjabi is 'unknown' to the typical wafi guy)

Since type 2 has a general and predictable format, hasn't it implied that its a lingo, and thus serving as God's language? In this regards, God does have a languagehuhhuh Or that's what they speak in 'Heaven'?

So the Almighty has a language and he chose to reveal it to a few of his creation (a very microscopic few at that)? May I ask why?

Did Ap. Paul record a 'demo' of what it should sound like? (After all, type 2 was his concept)

Could the Corinthians have done something not recorded that warranted such attention?

Why did he not insist in the same way to the Thessalonians, Ephesians, Colossians, Romans, and Galatians? (or they did not need to speak in tongues?)

Where are there no recorded replies to his letters? (Maybe today's xtians would have had the 'general picture)

What is the point of only this type 2 meme today?

If 'speaking in tongues' is really as it was recorded, then type 1 should be as widespread as type 2, abi?

Different people have different interpretations regarding many bible matters, was that God's plan? Is it an intelligent one? (remember, a house divided, is no house at all, a church divided is no church too!)

Or is that God different from the super-intelligent architect of the universe?

I rest my case for now!
