careytommy: i want to believe the only reason why the US will spy on nigeria govt officials is to know the sponsors of BH. remember BH is an ally of al-queda, even that white lady that sponsor kenya mall attacks was here (which im sure their sponsors were aware) so they wont want to leave any loose ends

I really think there is more to it than just wanting to know the sponsors of BH. It's more like being the world police. Remember, several countries have been spied on.

Health / Germany Now Allow Parents To Choose No Gender For Babies On Birth Certificates by infonubia(m): 6:18am On Nov 03, 2013
On Friday, Nov. 1, Germany became the first country in the world to allow parents to leave the gender box blank on their child's birth certificate.

According to reports, the German government passed this measure in order to take the pressure to commit to a gender immediately after birth off parents of children born without a clearly determinable anatomical sex of male or female. Apparently, 1 in every 1,500 babies have this condition.

"This will be the first time that the law acknowledges that there are human beings who are neither male nor female, or are both," stated University of Bremen law professor Konstanze Plett. "People who do not fit into the traditional legal categories... We will have fellow human beings with no sex registered. They can't be forced into either one of the traditional sexes in these other contexts."

The German law reportedly states that if a child "cannot be assigned to the female nor the male gender," their status "shall be entered without such information in the register of births."

"This is an interesting move but it doesn't go far enough," Silvan Agius, policy director at Equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people in Europe (ILGA), told Reuters.

"Unnecessary surgeries will likely continue in Germany with devastating consequences... we live in a world where having a baby classified as 'other' is still considered undesirable."

Germany's move follows in the footsteps of Australia, which became the first country in the world to begin allowing a third gender option, or "X," on passports in late 2011.

Hmm....Why do I feel like there's more to this than the underlining reason given by the German government?

Do you agree/disagree with me?

Worst of all is the concession of Nigerias internet users to an Israeli company(Israel is staunch ALLY of the U.S.) to spy by the Jonathan's government.

Even Nigeria isn't spared from the United States spying scandal that has strained its relationship with Europe and some other parts of the world.

Fresh revelations indicated that the US National Security Agency (NSA) has been spying on the Nigeria’s security agencies, especially the State Security Service, and probably the Presidency.

Here's how the story is reported:

Indications emerged on Saturday that the United States has been spying on the Nigeria’s security agencies, especially the State Security Service, and probably the Presidency.

In a report published in New York Times, Edward Snowden, an American computer specialist, who worked for the US Central Intelligence Agency and as a contractor with the US National Security Agency, stated that Nigeria’s SSS was one of the security agencies across the globe that the N.S.A. had been listening in on.

He said briefs on the information gleaned from intercepting of telephone conversations and hacking of computers of the SSS, other security agencies in Nigeria and other countries are delivered to the office of the US President, Barrack Obama every morning.

“By many accounts, the agency provides more than half of the intelligence nuggets delivered to the White House early each morning in the President’s Daily Brief — a measure of success for American spies. One document boasts that listening in on Nigerian State Security Service had provided items for the briefing “nearly two dozen” times. In every international crisis, American policy makers look to the N.S.A. for inside information,” Snowden told New York Times.

The release of documents that proved that the NSA had been eavesdropping on the communications of world leaders, including US allies, had caused diplomatic rows, with Germany and some other countries protesting.

Snowden also noted that the NSA had obtained thousands of classified documents, containing secrets of governments around the world, pointing to a possibility that it might have obtained secret documents of the Federal Government of Nigeria, or tapped President Goodluck Jonathan’s phone conversations.

Snowden, who is on a temporary political asylum in Russia, disclosed classified details of several top-secret United States, Israeli, and British government mass surveillance programs to the press.

He started releasing the NSA’s documents in June and the documents he has released so far show that the US has been spying most countries in the world.

My Thoughts

As much as I can understand the enormity of the possible security threats the US might be facing, I think NSA took things too far here. Imagine how Germany and other world leaders feel on the revelation that their communications have been monitored.

Obama sure has a lot of damage control to do on this one. He also has to strive to win back the trust of the US allies that feel betrayed by the spying effort.

Do you think the United was within its right to be eavesdropping on the communications of other countries?

Terry started to walk away, tears dripping down her face uncontrollably. She felt lost and disoriented, unable to recollect how she lost control of her world, her life.

“Terry, you know I love you, and I mean it,” Chris interjected. Terry continued to sob with her hands covering her face. This was the face time she had ever cried in front of Chris. She only remembers their good times together; they've never had any altercations with each other.

“Please don’t cry Terry. You..you caught me unaware – that is all!” Chris stroked Terry’s hair and carefully wiped her face with the sleeve of his plaid shirt. He had forgotten to re-button his shirt after they slept together about an hour ago. He looked around to make sure no passerby could see them. He tightened his hands around Terry’s wrist and pulled her back to the shade of the cluttered trees. The last thing he wanted was someone he knew to identify them.

“Christopher, I've heard that before. But just like you told me last month, prove it! I’m pregnant with your baby; so what are we going to do?” Terry was uncertain of tomorrow. She needed a guarantee from Chris that everything was going to work out. He is the only part of her life that had kept her breathing and living again.

“Ok. Let me think,” Chris replied. He looked at the sky without saying a word. It felt like hours before he finally responded. “I got it! You can come to Maple city with me. You’ll work on your GED while I finish college. After you have the baby, we’ll have a court wedding.”

“I guess I can do that,” Terry said, trying to conceal her excitement as a ray of hope warmed her heart. She felt revived again. It can work, it will work, she told herself. She had been waiting for the day when she could leave her neighborhood and the familiar town to live in a different city, state, or even country.

Terry was excited at the chance of a new life. She could barely contain herself. As she unlocked the door, her father was waiting in the kitchen. He noticed the glow on Terry’s face; she looked different.

“Terry, where have you been? Your dinner is cold. You’ll need to warm it up,” He said.

“I’m not hungry dad. I picked up something on my way home. Thanks!” Terry replied without looking at her dad. She dashed upstairs with her backpack and notepads. She had stashed the blanket that she and Chris slept on while they’d cuddled under the tree into her backpack. She was so happy. Things are finally starting to work out – maybe not the way she planned. They’re better than before.

She looked through her closet and packed some few clothes into her dad’s gym bag. She took her toiletries and clean underwear. She stuffed them all into the bag with some of the pictures of her mom. Terry suddenly heard a knock.

“Who is it?” She called out.

“It’s me Terry. Open the door.” It was Terry’s stepmother. Mr. Benson had remarried four years ago, only three years after Terry’s mom passed away in a car accident. Terry had always thought her dad could have waited a little longer. “What’s the rush,” she’d told him then, “I don’t want anyone to replace mom.”

“No one will ever take the place of your mom in my heart – not your new stepmom Susan, your sister Jenna, or even you, Terry. You are all special to me in your own ways, and I love you,” her dad had told her.

Nevertheless, Terry wasn't convinced, and it did not change her nonchalant attitude towards her stepmother. Jenna was the one who really cared for Susan. Visitors who do not live in the town actually thought they were family. Their smooth, tan skin tones were impeccable and similar; also, their full natural long curls with brown highlights that drop around their round faces while complementing their hazel eyes shows off their semblance. Susan and Jenna could finish each other’s sentences whenever they’re in the same room. This was one of the reasons why Terry usually felt like the odd ball during Sunday dinner – their family time.

Terry quickly pushed the bag under her bed. She unlocked the door, and Susan poked her head in with the door ajar. “What are you up to cupid?” Terry hated that nickname.

None of your business, she wanted to say. “I’m just about to get started on a school project,” she chirped, hoping she’ll close the door and leave her alone.

“But school hasn't started Terry,” Susan said.

Terry had to craft another lie on her feet. This was more work than she thought. “I know. Jason told me that the syllabus for one of my teachers is available online so I can check ‘em out before school start,” Terry replied with a smile.

“Kids these days; you all are so spoiled with technology! So young lady, your dad told me you didn't want your dinner. I had made your favorite – Meat-lover Lasagna. I just wanted to make sure everything is okay,” Susan smiled back.

“Well, as you can see Susan, I’m fine. I don’t like it when you and dad treat me like a child. It’s so over-rated.”

“First, watch your manners Terry. The least you can do is to call me Ms. Benson; the most you can do is to address me with respect. I may not be your mom, but as long as you’re still living in this house, I’m your caretaker. I say this because I care, not to be cumbersome,” Susan shot back.

“Whatever,” Terry mumbled.

“See your dad before leaving for school tomorrow morning. He wants to talk to you. Good night,” Susan said as she shut the door. Terry could sense the awkwardness in the room. She did not hate Terry; she just disliked seeing her around instead of her mom. Ten years later and she can still feel the absence of her mom in the house.

If only mom was here; she’d know what to do, Terry thought to herself.

fresh_dude: Just a matter of time. This is how it starts. APA say they made a mistake but, was it really a mistake? No editors around? No proof-reading done? It's already been placed in our consciousness, that's all that matters. It will raise its ugly head again. That's how homo-rights began, a few snippets here and there and before you know they're all over the place influencing election campaigns.
My take is, it might not be passed into law today or ten years from now but surely, the day cometh.

That's right! They must have given it a thought. And what happens if they weren't called out? It could have been just another subtle mistake. I really think the backlash made them fix it quickly.
Family / Re: US Psychiatric Association Allegedly Classifies Pedophilia As Sexual Orientation by infonubia(m): 1:32am On Nov 01, 2013
ileobatojo: Yeah, the US lawmakers unlike ours would not try to legalize pedophilia. No matter the nomenclature from the APA, that will never give anyone the right to freely molest children.

In any case, the APA has said it was a mistake/quickly backtracked. They accidentally termed it as a sexual orientation instead of a deviant preference in a portion of the text.

*The APA said in its statement that “‘Sexual orientation’ is not a term used in the diagnostic criteria for pedophilic disorder and its use in the DSM-5 text discussion is an error and should read ‘sexual interest.’”

“In fact, APA considers pedophilic disorder a ‘paraphilia,’ not a ‘sexual orientation.’ This error will be corrected in the electronic version of DSM-5 and the next printing of the manual,” the organization said.*

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/oct/31/apa-correct-manual-clarification-pedophilia-not-se/

It will be changed. End of discussion.

Thanks! Just the article I needed to confirm that the APA actually wrote something like that in their publication. Good thing they are correcting it. However, I think the sexual orientation was definitely part of their discussion.

Family / Man Divorces Wife For Insulting Landlord by infonubia(m): 9:55pm On Oct 31, 2013
I couldn't control my laughter after reading this. From where to where? What an excuse!

A 31-year-old man, Joseph Idowu, on Thursday divorced his wife, Omolara, for insulting his landlord.

Mr. Idowu had filed a suit before an Ikole Customary Court in Ekiti on August 31, seeking the dissolution of his five years old “mere association,” blessed with two children.

The plaintiff told the court that Mrs. Idowu insulted their landlord as the landlord was trying to settle a dispute between the couple. She later moved out of their home because she was annoyed at being corrected, he claimed.

The woman, who denied the allegation, gave her evidence on oath to the effect that she did not insult their landlord.

She accused her husband of conniving with the landlord to divorce her based on flimsy excuses, so that Mr. Idowu could get another wife.

Mrs. Idowu stated that she packed out of their home because of her husband’s habit of beating her, and to escape being killed.

She, however, consented to the divorce and prayed for the custody of her second child who was a year and nine months old.

The president of the court, Yemisi Ojo, dissolved the marriage.

She upheld the prayer of the defendant on the custody of the second child and ordered both parties to be jointly responsible for the care, maintenance, support and education of the child.

She, however, ordered that the plaintiff should single-handedly cater for the need of the first child in his custody.

It's obvious that the landlord insult was just another excuse, the couple apparently have been having issues prior to the landlord's intervention.

Family / US Psychiatric Association Allegedly Classifies Pedophilia As Sexual Orientation by infonubia(m): 8:36pm On Oct 31, 2013
According to a press release by the American Family Association, a shocking announcement made by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) in its latest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) caused an uproar among pro-family organizations and many others, as the APA states it now classifies pedophilia as a sexual orientation or preference instead of a disorder.

Sandy Rios, cultural expert and talk show host on the American Family Radio network, issued a statement on behalf of the American Family Association in response to the APA’s position on pedophilia:

Just as the APA declared homosexuality an ‘orientation’ under tremendous pressure from homosexual activists in the mid-'70s, now, under pressure from pedophile activists, they have declared the desire for sex with children an ‘orientation,’ too. It's not hard to see where this will lead. More children will become sexual prey.

Sanity will never return to this culture until truth is reclaimed. It is not now, nor has it ever been acceptable for men or women to desire sex with children. Any who struggle with this must at least know that it is wrong before they can combat it and seek change.

I had a similar discussion with a friend some weeks ago and he told me it's only a matter of time before pedophiles begin to claim that "I am born this way, this is who I am, can't change, accept me, tolerate me." Going by this press release, it's only a matter of time before bestiality makes it own case for acceptance.

To be fair to the APA, I found the DSM-5 fact sheet on paraphilic disorders and it only made mention of changing the name from "pedophilia" to "pedophilic disorder." I didn't see any mention of sexual orientation unless it is stated in the actual manual (which I couldn't find a free copy).

Also, I wouldn't' imagine that pedophiles are going to be allowed to indulge themselves in their criminal acts but there are already groups that support their cause.

Is this really a cause for concern or just another hype over nothing? Does classifying it as a sexual orientation have any bearing on the legality of carrying out acts of pedophilia? Share your thoughts.

What happened?

I met her in the market with the company of my brother when my wedding was some months away, she was my mum's church member and kinda closed to her but not very closed anyway, so, immediately I spotted her, I called my brother's attention to her, who advised that we greet her and inform her about the forthcoming wedding and also to ask where she lives so that we can go and invite her formally, immediately we greeted her and my bro just mentioned about the forthcoming wedding, she said, "with this belly that is not protruded already" and trying to touch my belly if I was pregnant, immediately, I pushed the hand away and shouted on her not to ever try to touch my belly again, and finally said she doesn't even attend a wedding ceremony when the wife is not already pregnant, can you imagine.

Needless to say, I support veave, how can you touch my belly? Pregnant or not, when you're not my husband, it's barbaric, it's disrespectful, it's annoying, thank God now it's illegal.

Wow! Nigerians who have expressed their displeasure at how Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah spent $1.4 million on two cars would be shell-shocked when they find out it she actually ordered six of such bulletproof cars, according to reports by a group known as Investigative Reporters In Aviation (IRA).

Going by this report, I can't seem to understand why she needed so many bulletproof cars, who is after her life? Is this just another case of excessive greed?

Here's how Sahara Reporters tell the story:

A group known as Investigative Reporters In Aviation (IRA) has come out with yet another bombshell on the wanton looting of the nation’s financial resources by the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, and her disorganization of the entire aviation sector.

Speaking for the group, Mazi Kanayo Ochei, and Kenneth Uti President and Secretary respectively, said their investigations reveal that in addition to the two cars she forced the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to purchase for her, she also forced the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to buy two each of the same brand of cars.

“I don’t understand why Nigerian media are shouting about NCAA alone, when a total of six bulletproof cars were actually purchased by the Minister on the bill of three aviation agencies,” they said.

“Our work as IRA revealed that while Nnamdi Udoh of NAMA bought two BMW, Joyce Nkemakolam (Acting DG) of NCAA bought two BMW, and Mr. Uresi George of FAAN bought two bullet-proof American specs limousine for the Minister of Aviation.”

They further stated that all the purchases were made from Coscharis Motors and cannot be denied.

“If Nigerians really know the magnitude of the rot in the Aviation Industry as at this moment, they will carry placards against this administration,” the IRA officials said, noting that the FAAN is heading for bankruptcy, with the MD on the verge of taking a bank loan to pay workers’ salaries last month.

“The only option left for FAAN now is to begin to use part of their statutory remittance to Federation Account to offset their bills.”

On the part of NAMA, the IRA described it as being in disarray, that nobody seems to know what is going on and that the workers have completely lost confidence in the Management. They noted that members of the NAMA staff have threatened on several occasions in the recent past to embark on industrial action based on poor conditions of service and heaps of unpaid allowances.

“IRA further wants EFCC to call Coscharis Motors for questioning on the six cars purchased by the Minister so as to get to the root of this issue,” they said.

It would be recalled that on October 19, the Director-General of the NCAA, Capt. Fola Akinkuotu, told a press conference in Abuja that the Federal Government was hunting for the whistleblower who leaked the story of the two scandalous armoured cars the agency bought for Mrs. Oduah at a cost of N225m.

On October 21, SaharaReporters further reported that NAMA had also purchased four Toyota Tundra vehicles for Mrs. Oduah in addition to four stretch limousine cars that were said to have been bought for the transportation of VIPs to the Ministry.

In a statement, Supo Atobatele, the General Manager of NAMA, attacked the report as “frivolous, malicious and mischievous.”

“We hereby make it categorically clear to the unsuspecting public that this evil story as being promoted, is patently false in its entirety and calculated to put the agency and the office of the minister into disrepute,” he said.

IRA has called on President Jonathan to recognize that only a level-headed, matured and patriotic Minister can help Nigerian Aviation industry, “not a self-seeking, corrupt and proud person like Stella Oduah.”

Furthermore, the group said, “We also want to advise the newly confirmed Director-General of NCAA Fola Akinkotun to stop defending what he knows practically nothing about, while we sympathize with his position, we advise him to stop making any further reckless press statement in any futile attempt at defending those who all Nigerians know how they ganged up to prevent him from taking up the position of the DG NCAA for almost 5 months after he was chosen by President Jonathan.”

This morning, George Uresi, the chief executive officer of the FAAN admitted to a hearing of the Senate Aviation Committee that the agency indeed bought four bullet proof cars for Ms. Oduah at N70 million each.
