Tunmi: Hollywood has long depicted women as thin, blond, and white. Anything that differs is considered bad. But lately, the tides are changing. And Hudson is one of that. So, it was a pleasure to see someone that majority of women can associate with just by looking at her. Hollywood's perceptions of the ideal woman is not real so yes I liked that Hudson was big-boned. She looked natural not like a round peg in a square hole. And it was a relief to see something realistic. I know what you mean. After a while it gets a little redundant. |
Romance › Re: Which Tribe Will You Marry From by InkedNerd(f): 8:58pm On Mar 20, 2011 |
livedit: I still don't know the difference between the tribes. Igbo, Hausa, whatever, Really, I could careless, it's about that particular man. Is he a good man? Will he treat me like the Queen I am? Is he respectful, love God etc. Right now, I'm currently engaged to a wonderful fine Yoruba man (March 26th is our wedding date) and I couldn't ask for anyone better! Yes, he works my nerves sometimes with his playfulness. But his overall character and how he treat me is more than a woman could ask for. I am very blessed. If the man/woman treats you right, you are compatible spiritually, physically, emotionally and they are a good person inside and out, I say go for it. Each man and woman have their own uniqueness in them and the tribe their from is irrelevant to livedit. Last time I checked, their are only two species, male and female human beings. Wow, you sound so happy. Congratulations on your engagement. I wish you lots of luck and happiness in your marriage. |

chissy4rea: thank u so much i feel much better. funny enough my church which consists of mostly the youth the message today was finding the right spouse. i realised i was dating a man who was walking me straight to hell. a heartless human being. i even pity the fiancee. Now i have another chance to find someone whom god has destined for me. iv also realised that one should never judge someone by their family background even if that person comes from a good catholic christian home. I'm glad you feel better. Always keep in mind, you're worth so much more . |

Tunmi: I don't like him in the picture.
I love her DreamGirls figure. It shows what real women looked like, with curves and all. Real women? If I don't have curves then I'm not a 'real woman'? I understand when people use that word [not tryin' to knock you down or anything]. When I hear people use that term, I ask them "So me being the size that I am, are saying I'm not a 'real woman'?". Women come in all shapes and sizes so hearing people say "real women" makes no sense. I know people try to perpetuate Hollwood's ideas of beauty but its not right to use the term because it creates the notion that if you don't look like a non-Hollywood woman, then the manner in which you exist is unnatural. Sorry, I had a time wording what I was trying to say in the last sentence. If I find a way to rephrase what I said then I'll write it over. |

Tunmi: Yowza! Do you happen to have a current picture?
Jennifer Hudson's size does scare me. It's as if her head is somehow abnormal compared with the rest of her body. Her size in Dreamgirls was perfect for her body type. I like that she's slimmed and toned up. As long as she's healthy and happy.
http://3.bp..com/_JFZwgN5CZmA/TFTs-Z3TSrI/AAAAAAAAAss/1KsfUBTMRd0/s1600/dreamgirls.jpg Yowza? Are you saying you like the pic or you don't like it?
Ewwww, her "Dream Girls" size was huge . If I were her size I'd feel very uncomfortable with my body [before the weight loss]. |

There is no actual 'look' to being Ibo. When I meet people, sometimes they don't even realize that I'm West African. |
Culture › Re: Are Africans Proud Of Black Americans? by InkedNerd(f): 6:38pm On Mar 20, 2011 |
Malstrom: AInked_Nerd, I am very curious about the primary school program of Nigeria for example, What is included in the history teaching I guess u are taught history from an African point of view rather than the Eurocentric like we are taught in Europe. Like is it mainly Egypt, old African kingdoms tru the times, colonisation, independence, African wars and such? And Nigerian history and history of the tribes of Nigeria and neighbouring countries,
Since in Europe there is sadly not much more than European history. no African history in school except old Egypt. I was raised in the US, not in Nigeria and everything that I've written on this thread is based on my experience in the US. Before I came to the US, I schooled in Nigeria for a little bit. |

Nairaland General › Re: Which Housemaid Would You Prefer? Male Or Female? by InkedNerd(f): 8:59am On Mar 20, 2011 |
Siena: I wouldn't have either. My wife and myself are able to get all domestic chores done, as well as look after our baby daughter. I see the need for house helps as laziness on the part of both husband and wife.
Why would I choose to make a servant out of someone else's child? I don't think its fair to call it laziness. My grandmother had maids in her house and she was far from a lazy woman. Besides, all jobs that are done will have someone who is the child of someone else. When you make that comment, were you referring to child servants? |

hazelle: shea butter mixed with almond oil, sounds effective and it's a plus that it's natural, but where do i get it from? and are u sure it really works?? Hmmm, perhaps you should tell me the sort of area you live in so I can have an idea on where you can buy it. And yes, I'm sure it works. Even if it doesn't get rid of your stretch marks entirely, it will fade them.
Araboy: Myself I love stretch marks why ladies want to remove them Really? You actually like stretch marks? |
