It's highly expected for such anomalies to occur in the wider continent but I'd seriously doubt this cases will be reported in Nigeria.
More often than not, anorexia is a lifestyle rather than a disease and i just fail to see how Nigerians will bring themselves that low so as to being accepted in the wider society.
Remember anorexic patients are prevalent in the modeling industry due to the industry need of the models maintaining a size zero body frame.
Well, they exist and have been reported in West Africa, Eat African, and South African countries. And not all anorexic patients are doing it for the sole purpose of fashion. There are many people who are in eating disorder clinics and had they not been there, you'd never know they were suffering from anorexia or any other eating disorder and not all anorexics are skinny. Just as not all disabilities are visible, not all eating disorder are visible to the eyes. There are many people who suffer from eating disorders due to sports related issues.

No we don't
We have malnutrition/kwashiorkor (mainly in children) not anorexia.
I'm not talking about malnutrition. There are actual reported cases of either a highly restricted diet or anorexia among African women.

RomanceRe: What Are Bw Looking Into A White Man? by InkedNerd(f): 11:49am On Jan 05, 2011
obenda:
Well if you represent all African women as a whole why not? ;-)

C'mon, your individual opinion will be enough, but please go over the " every man that treats me right, no m,atter the color, shape, etc". Just imagine to be on a bus, a white man pops in and you are attracted. Just tell which things that are typical or you can find in white men are intriguing to you.

Sorry, I know that I am asking to be very straight forward, but I don't think it is a taboo to speak out of what's attractive/unattractive between men and women.

thanks
::sighs:: I understand what you're saying but there is no straight forward answer. For example , the stuff tpia1 mentioned aren't necessarily the things I may like in a caucasian man. Let me give you another example, I was on the train and I saw this tall handsome cauasian man with reddish blond hair and green eyes and I was immediately attracted to him. When I left the train and met my friends in the street, a causasian guy who was average height with with blond hair approached my friends and I was also attracted to him [lol, he was trying to ask me out but I was totally oblivious  embarassed]. Do you see how different the two men are? Personally for me, I have no preference what I look for in a causasian man. For you to be asking us women such a specific question makes no sense. I'm sorry if this isn't really answering your question but its the truth. What one African woman may like may be displeasure to another just as what you like as an Italian man may differed from what another Italian man may like. Its quite obvious that you don't represent all of Italy so why would you expect one of us to represent all of African. My personal tastes vary from men to men. For me, this is my ideal guy [regardless of their ethnicity], I like a man who possesses the qualities of a renaissance man--He’s self-assured, focused, disciplined, and responsible, yet knows how to let loose and have fun. His intellectual and career interests are balanced with cultural and physical activities. Comfortable in jeans or a tux, this action man throws himself into his pursuits and is willing to fail. In touch with and expressive of his emotions, he exudes compassion and warmth as he crosses social and ethnic boundaries. Gathering eclectic and diverse admirers, the Renaissance Man knows what qualities he’s looking for in a woman and is unlikely to be swayed.

@OP: Wow, I really didn't know who she was until I saw this thread [actually, I don't know who a lot of the Nollywood actors and actresses and I don't care either]. Anyway, I Googled her and I saw pic of her with tons of bad weaves and wigs and I must say, she looks so much prettier with the short hair. I can actually see her face no that all the weave and junk is out of her face. I'm used to seeing a lot of girls in New York with hair like that so so me its nothin' new. Hmmm, makes me rethink cutting my hair when it grows longer.

Hehehe, I said how do you wash it, not what do you use to wash it. For example, when my hair was longer I washed my hair in sections so I could make the detanling and washing process easier--I'd usually part my hair into four sections and gently wash my hair and scalp. By the way, you might wanna try giving your little one scalp massages every once in a while. It'll stimulate hair growth, allow her scalp to relax a bit since she seems to be in pain at time, and it'll allow you to bond with her wink. ::sighs:: I remember when my mom used to do that. By the way, do you use any of the combs in the video?

Here's a video of a woman demonstrating how she washes her daughter's hair.

FamilyRe: Is It Proper For A Married Woman To Own Property In Her Maiden Name? by InkedNerd(f): 9:51am On Jan 05, 2011
Ummm, yeah. Why would it be? Men own property so why shouldn't their female counterparts? If/when I get married, I intend on keeping property that I attained before my marriage and during my marriage. I wanna buy my first house within the next two years so I'll be damned if any man tells me to part with it just because I am married to him. Besides, for financial purposes it's good for both the husband and wife to have some sort of safety cushions to fall back on.

Her hair is dry
I try to use an afro comb but the best she will let me do is to just use the teeth of the comb to skim the hair so no deep root to tip combing
I hold the hair in my fist and just comb or brush the tips. She wont let me do it from the root
I brush/comb when it is damp
Even the hair washing sef is drama and the whole street knows from the screams, the shreiks, the drama and the antics. I wash with a power shower and it tickles her scalp so she jumps everywhere  embarassed
Chineke!!! I wish you could just send her to me so I could do her hair. I feel bad for the both of you.
Is her hair usually dry? [sorry, if the questions seem repetitive].
Could you please post pictures of the types of combs/brushes you use so I can have a better idea of what you use?
And how do you wash her hair?

You can get the cds from christian stores around. They're revealing and I bet, you'll stop adultery and fornication after watching them. Inkie, I know you'll beg to differ but it's no crap! Ok. Of all the confessions I watched these are the things I found in common, 1- the girls are VERY promiscus 2- beautiful and breath-taking 3- seductive 4- powerful  and knows everything about unfaithful men 5- they attack sex-loving men the most 6- they attack men of God in order to try their faith 7- after having sex with them, the man's glory  will turn to zero and he'll lead a meaningless life 8- ANY GIRL that have intimacy with the possessed man will automatically contract the evil spirit of former lady. 9- they hate to see happy family therefore if you love your wife very well, always pray because they hate to see such  etc etc and etc I've tried so Uncle Forkitty;Forkitty, go for deliverance asap
How wonderful, once again, another nonsense attack on women. So all beautiful women are like that eh? If you or any other man are so weak that you would allow a woman to get the best of you, then I suggest you need to get your priorities straight. Once again, like many other men both on and off Nairaland you are sitting here making excuses for men who for whatever reason cannot or will not take responsibility for their actions. Even if a woman "seduces" a man, does he not have enough sense to know the sort of trouble he is opening himself up to? This whole notion of beautiful women "attacking" sex crazed men is only an excuse for men such as the sex crazed fiends mentioned. Stop hiding behind this cloak of religion as a means of justifying this idiotic and irresponsible belief. There are tons of men such as the women you describe, so why aren't you callin' them out? Why aren't you chastising them? Only women can do harm in this world eh? All men are saints eh? Since you seem to be so dead set on making a point, what about handsome men eh? Anyone whether male or female who becomes totally deluded and allows ANYONE to take advantage of themselves should really evaluate some things in his or her life. Men, GROW THE HELL UP and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS.

Thanks Inky

Just watched the video (without sound) LOL

One big problem is that my angel will not let me finger comb that jungle of hair. I cant even part the hair without drama. How I wish I could send her to you guys  sad

. . . . And this is aunty CC's advise to you girls . . . . Before you girls get married, apart from checking out the guys bank balance (which is very important) LOL;  please touch his hair before u say I do just to make sure you are not letting yourself into jungle city  cool  grin
No problem. If you wanna part her hair to do two strand twists or any other style, you can saturate her hair with water or some sort of moisturizer or even a leave-in conditioner. The key to making it easy on her is to make sure her hair is saturated. I have a question, when you touch her hair, is is dry? And do you comb her hair when it isn't wet? If so, what comb or brush do you use? And when you comb/brush her hair, how do you comb/brush it? How do you hold her hair when you comb/brush it?

Hehehe, as for touching a guys hair, I doubt that would do any good. There's never any guarantee that the child will end up with hair like the parents. I have a neighbor who has wavy hair and the husband has loose curly hair and the child has very thick coily hair. Genetics is a mystery at times wink. It wouldn't matter to me anyway--the dude could have the roughest hair in the world or the softest.
FamilyRe: by InkedNerd(f): 7:41am On Jan 05, 2011
Here is a video you can use to learn how to do two strand twists. Although the little girls' hair textures seems to be perhaps 3b or 4a you can still achieve the style. You don't necessarily have to use the products that she [the mother] used either.

Those twists in that picture, can I do them myself? Do I just twist 2 strands of hair together? or do I need to add some extensions like expression or something to give it body

I am going to the African hair shop over the weekend to see if I can get any of the products mentioned here.

You should have seen my daughers face when I mentioned egg yoke & honey to her LOL.

If parents got a chance to select the traits that they want for their children from each parent before they are born LOL; I am sure whose name would have been crossed out when it comes to hair  grin
Of course you can do them by yourself grin. Yes, all you need is just two stands of hair and then you twist it. In fact, there are products that you can apply to her hair to help you twist it. You don't need to add any extensions. The woman who twisted the hair of the little girl in the picture is a white woman and she does a pretty good job at it. When I twist my friends' little sister's hair, all I do is apply coconut oil to her hair and the rest is history. Would you like me to post some videos on how to twist natural hair? smiley

I know, its horrible that we could think such a thing about ourselves--yet we wonder why men view us in a certain manner. We would have all been up in arms ad a man said all of this. Smmfh. I for one am not a believer of this notion. All you have to do is make sure you do your research of caring for hair of color [especially little children]. I take care for my friends' little sister's natural hair and I never ear a peep from the child when I comb, wash, or brush her hair.
