So fellow Nigerians and to as many that are still with old N500 and N1000 notes. It's obvious from the reports that; commercial banks have been directed to start collecting the old notes and no cause for alarm whatsoever. Let endeavor to take our old notes to our banks respectively and let shun any form of violence or attacks on commercial bank facilities or bank staffs. Let follow the CBN guides on how to deposit our hold notes with Commercial Banks and let educate people around us on the directives and procedures. Let shun violence Let say no to confusions. Let keep our atmosphere peaceful; as we are preparing for our Presidential Election. God Bless Nigeria. Cc: Lalasticlala.

Now despite initial denial by CBN, the CBN website shows that people with old N500 and N1000 notes are to visit commercial banks to deposit their old notes. Please click here to create your profile, generate reference and print out receipt for you to proceed to your selected bank branch to deposit your old N1000 and N500 notes into your bank account Please visit this link, https://crs.cbn.gov.ng, ONLY through the CBN website. Go to your selected bank branch with the print out. https://www.cbn.gov.ng/ |
On that same 17th of February (Friday), there was email messages that was sent across to commercial banks customers to start bringing their old N500 and N1000 notes for deposit, which implied that they must have been instructed by CBN before such sensitive messages would be sent out. For the fact that commercial banks takes instructions from CBN alone.

On the 17th of February, 2023. Atmosphere was so tensed at CBN branches across Nigeria States; while people visited CBN branches to deposit their old 500 and 1000 notes in accordance with CBN directives. There were protests in some states when angry customers could no longer deposit their old notes with Commercial Banks as a result of deadline set by CBN. Nigerians were rejecting old notes for commercial activities and there was serious pressure on what could be the faith of those that still have old N500 and N1000 notes in their possession. Then there was breaking news that CBN have directed commercial banks to start receiving the old notes with immediate effect and there was a sign of relief and calmness. But there was serious confusion again on that same 17th of February after another breaking news that the earlier directives that commercial banks should start collecting old notes was not emanated from CBN. https://www.cbn.gov.ng/

tuoyoojo:At the expiration date, are their new notes available to replace the old notes. Those who suffered themselves in order to deposited their old notes with Commercial Banks and meet the deadline, what was the outcome? Why can't you guys think? |
They should also delete all the emails they've sent out. |
The Naira Redesign Policy is a very good idea; no doubt, but it implementation is draconian in nature. Meanwhile the common man on the streets are feeling it the most. Even those that are hailing Buhari as a form of revenge to whoever they're having issues with are not exempted from the effects. From Southern States down to the Northern States, both private and public sector, individuals and corporate organizations. This is the first time Banks are physically shorting down operation across almost every States in Nigeria, business activities been paralyzed, people are sleeping overnight for days within the bank premises to monitor ATM in order to get cash at least to feed their family. You can not easily access common commodities and necessities due to lack of cash. What a politics of bitterness? What a cruelty? Tough time never last. Buhari tenure shall definitely pass. |
