TOPIC: Pulling Down Jericho's Walls

Faith pulled down Jericho’s walls after the people marched around them for seven days!

*Message*

After a long while, the children of Israel were closer to entering their promised land and possessing their possessions. Unfortunately, they found themselves hindered by the walls of Jericho. The strength of the walls made Jericho an impregnable fortress.

Indeed, the walls were incredibly strong and fortified, making them nearly impenetrable. Jericho had a double ring of thick stone walls, with the lower retaining wall being around 12-15 feet tall and 6 feet thick, made of stone and brick. On top of the stone wall was another mud-brick wall, estimated to be 20-25 feet high and 6 feet thick.

The total height of the walls from the bottom of the retaining wall to the top of the mud-brick wall was approximately 25-30 feet (7.5-9 meters) high. The walls were constructed using stone foundations with sun-dried reddish mud-bricks.

These walls served multiple purposes, including defense, flood protection, and communal identity, and has been standing strong for many years. Nevertheless, at that point, the walls stood as an object of hindrance preventing God's people from entering their next season.

The Israelites had to rely on God's power to conquer the city. And being a faithful God, He gave them their strategy. After they responded by faith, their faith "pulled down Jericho’s walls after the people marched around them for seven days!"

No problem or hindrance is insurmountable!

*Message*

Countless believers today step out in faith when God calls them to ministry, missions, or building churches in hostile regions. By trusting Him, they see supernatural provision, protection, and open doors.

As a case study, Heidi Baker is a missionary who has established Iris Ministries in Mozambique. Despite facing numerous challenges, including poverty, disease, and persecution, Heidi and her team have seen remarkable breakthroughs. They've established numerous churches, orphanages, and feeding programs, and have witnessed countless miracles, including healings and resurrections.

One notable example is the story of a young boy who was resurrected from the dead after Heidi prayed for him. This miracle led to a significant breakthrough in the community, and many people came to faith in Christ.

Her husband, Rolland Baker, was once beaten and left for dead by a mob of angry villagers. Despite this, Rolland forgave his attackers and continued to minister to them. As a result, the villagers eventually repented and asked for forgiveness, and many of them came to faith in Christ.

On the other hand, however, there are folks who may try to “use” God for fame, power, or self-gain. These imitate miracles without relationship. Unfortunately, many of such ministries collapse publicly in scandals, swallowed by the very waves they thought they could walk through.

Dear reader, Faith doesn’t just copy actions. Faith anchors itself in God’s word and presence. Faith + Obedience = Breakthrough.

A Nigerian student felt led to apply for scholarships abroad despite lacking money and connections. Trusting God, she applied consistently, prayed, and was eventually awarded a full scholarship in Canada. What seemed impossible (crossing the “Red Sea” of finances) opened by faith.

Others who tried to forge documents or bribe their way into visa approvals got exposed, banned, or deported. Same “sea,” different outcome. While faith and integrity opened the path, shortcuts led to drowning.

Let's also talk about Nick Vujicic, who was born without arms and legs, and could have drowned in despair. Instead, he trusted God, turned his pain into purpose, and now inspires millions worldwide. His “Red Sea” of disability became dry ground through faith.

Others in similar conditions, but without hope or faith, sadly sank into depression or destructive lifestyles. The same storm, but without faith, it consumed them.

Remember that our emphasis revolves around the fact that while Israel walked through because God told them to move forward, Egypt drowned because they tried to copy without God’s backing.

Faith opens impossible paths, while unbelief or wrong motives lead to destruction. Never forget that faith creates access where logic says “impossible.” The Israelites trusted God’s word through Moses, so the sea became a pathway. On the other hand, the Egyptians tried to copy the action, but since they don't have faith in God, the same sea became their grave.

Obedience + faith = victory.
Imitation without faith = disaster.

In 2008, Airbnb’s founders were broke but believed in their idea when no investor took them seriously. They stepped out in faith, turning a living-room experiment into a multi-billion-dollar company. Their "Red Sea" (lack of funding) parted because they persisted in faith.

Many copycat platforms sprung up after Airbnb’s success, but without the same conviction, resilience, and vision. Most drowned in failure because they tried to imitate without true belief in the vision.

*Message*

Today, let's look at the story of Peter and Simon the Sorcerer. Simon, a sorcerer in Samaria, was amazed by the miracles performed by Philip, one of Jesus' disciples, and claimed to be someone great. When Peter and John arrived in Samaria, they prayed for the believers to receive the Holy Spirit, who had not yet descended upon them.

Simon, however, tried to buy the power of the Holy Spirit from Peter and John with money, which Peter rebuked him for, saying that God's gift cannot be purchased with money, and admitting the sorcerer was not even yet genuinely saved.

Here's the problem with Simon:

"For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it." - Hebrews 4:2 NKJV

The word preached to him didn't meet faith in his heart, because he wasn't ready to get rid of the evilness of his heart. Hence, even if he merely confessed Jesus with his mouth, it didn't strike a cord in the realm of the spirit because faith wasn't found in his heart.

*Message*

Absence of faith is the absence of genuine salvation (embracing the Way). In other words, a person can come up during an altar call to claim to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. But if faith has not first being built in their heart, the claim is a mere declaration that have no bearing in the realm of the spirit.

This is why, before we make attempts to lead anyone to Christ, we have to first fan to life the flames of the faith the Holy Ghost had initially set in their heart. The Holy Ghost set the flame of faith in their heart as we intercede for them, but we fan it to life when we preach God's word to them.

That's why the Bible says - "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17 NKJV).

Another version (TPT) puts it this way - "Faith, then, is birthed in a heart that responds to God’s anointed utterance of the Anointed One."

If you want anyone to embrace the Way (Jesus), invest in building up faith in their heart by the Word of God.

Why was it faith that opened the way for the deliverance of the children of Israel? Why is it that faith still opens the Way (Jesus) to the Father? Why was it that the way wasn't opened for the Hebrews via optimism or eagerness or any other activity, but only faith? Why is it that today, aside from faith, nothing else can make you find the way?

Faith is so precious, dear reader. The Bible states that "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9). So, "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law." (Romans 3:28).

When you see a person or territory still living outside of God's perfect Will, one of the cardinal works of the Holy Spirit towards them is to impress faith inside of them (first of all) before the word of deliverance comes. Should the word of deliverance comes and there was no faith in the heart of the individual (or in the fabrics of the systems that governs that territory), the word of deliverance, though powerful, could be rendered ineffective.

That is why He has to take time to first brood over the fallen earth in Genesis chapter one before the word proceeded. Without faith, salvation can't come.

God is a God of faith. He leads the way when it comes to this business of faith. From the very start when He was introduced to this side of the divide in Genesis chapter one, one of the immediate attributes He lavishly exhibited, and which we can immediately spot, revolves around His penchant for faith.

Check this out. We were informed that: "The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters." (Genesis 1:2 NKJV).

First, "the Spirit of God hovering over the face of the waters" was not a mere act of idleness but a display of faith geared towards restoration. Also, the intent of the Spirit was to input faith into the fabrics of the fallen world in preparation for the soon-to-be sent word.

Then, despite seeing how hopeless the situation was, the word of faith was sent: "Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light." (Genesis 1:3 NKJV).

Faith still opens the way.

*Message*

Let's get started this way. Remember, Jesus says “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6 NKJV). Jesus is the Way that leads to the fullness of God - our destination for destiny, including safety, deliverance, bliss, and anything good you can think of.

When the Hebrews were stuck and hindered by the Red Sea from arriving their destination of deliverance, the way was opened to them (a prototype of Jesus the Way) that led them to safety, deliverance and prosperity, from slavery in Egypt.

However, the beginning part of our focus scripture explains that it was "Faith (that) opened the way for the Hebrews..." Faith is strong, opening the path that leads to life.

Today, faith still opens the way. Faith still places our feet on the Way that leads to God. When you place your faith in Jesus Christ, believing His Gospel (His death, burial, and resurrection) and accepting Him as Lord and Saviour, you emerge into life, safety and divinity.

*Message*

As I round up, dear reader, never forget that faith protects. Embedded in the reality of faith is the garment of protection and divine security. Just as Israel was preserved from death via the faith of Moses towards God's word, faith in Christ Jesus keeps us today from destruction in times of danger. Ask the LORD for faith increase!

Obedience saves. Even when instructions don’t make sense, obeying God leads to safety. What endless troubles we attract to ourselves just because we don't obey God’s instructions and turn our backs at God's wise command.

Finally, even in this peculiar generation and today's unique society, the Blood still speaks. Then it was lamb’s blood, today it is the blood of Jesus that covers and delivers. The Blood of Jesus is still ever potent and powerful. Utilize the Blood for continuous victory.

*Message*

The truth is that when the children of Israel were painting blood on their doorposts, it may have looked foolish to outsiders in Egypt. Yet, it was obedience in faith that brought deliverance to them.

A young Nigerian entrepreneur was once pressured to inflate figures in a government contract bid. While it looked like everyone was doing it (and it made business sense), he obeyed God’s instruction to stay honest. Initially, he lost opportunities. However, years later, that integrity made his firm the preferred contractor for a multinational, saving him from “destruction” that hit corrupt competitors during an anti-graft probe.

Dear readers, obedience may look costly, but it is protection in the long run.

Also, just as the blood on the doorposts preserved the families of Israel, as Christians today, we use prayer and faith in Christ’s blood as a shield against generational bondage, addictions, and destructive cycles.

A woman from South Africa shared how she consistently prayed and fasted for her son caught in drug addiction. She often declared, “The blood of Jesus speaks better things.” Over time, her son not only got free from addiction but became a counselor to others struggling with substance abuse. Her faith “marked the doorposts” of her household and prevented destruction from claiming her family.

Be led by faith and not human logic.

*Message*

Moses’ obedience to God’s instruction during the first Passover saw the Israelites marking their doorposts with the blood of the lamb. In faith, they trusted God’s promise of protection when the destroyer passed through Egypt.

Just as the Israelites trusted the blood of the lamb to protect them, Christians today trust in the blood of Jesus to shield us from spiritual destruction and sometimes even physical danger.

During the Ebola outbreak in West Africa (2014–2016), many believers testified that their peace came from standing on God’s Word and covering their families "under the blood of Jesus" while taking precautions. Some communities that prayed consistently saw fewer infections compared to surrounding areas. Their faith gave them resilience in fear-filled times.

We have the Blood of the Lamb for our advantage.

*Message*

God instituted the Passover for the children of Israel, through the man Moses. It takes faith to embrace and engage something that novel even in an unpalatable atmosphere as it was in Egypt. Nevertheless, the singular act of obedience granted them protection and emancipation.

If you've been trusting God for deliverance, your obedience level must increase. Like Moses, you must be a person of faith, keeping God's word even when it seems odd or will make you look foolish. You must always be bent on keeping God's word even when it's not convenient to do so.

In 2 Kings 5, we could see a warrior called Naaman who was slave to leprosy. He was led to the place of Elisha the prophet, and the man of God gave him a seemingly absurd instruction. "And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” (II Kings 5:10 NKJV).

Unfortunately, Naaman wasn't a man of faith, and he would have missed out on gaining freedom if he had remained adamant to commonsense.

Let faith lead you into taking spiritual actions that fetches impressive results.

*Message*

Pharaoh’s heart was so hardened that he refused to let the children of Israel leave the bondage of slavery, even after several devastating plagues. Then, there comes the final one: the death of the firstborn.

"Then Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt; [5] and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals. [6] Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again. [7] But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that the Lord does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.’ (Exodus 11:4-7 NKJV).

However, there's a requirement that must be fulfilled: The Passover.

[14] ‘So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance. [15] Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel.

In spite of it's novelty, Moses obeyed God's word of keeping the Passover through faith, and that act powered up the new nation.

TOPIC: Forsaking Egypt By Faith (3)

[27] By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.

*Message*

A woman is in an emotionally abusive relationship with a rich guy. She is financially secure but spiritually and mentally broken. Friends advise her to “endure for the money’s sake” — but she knows God calls her to freedom and restoration.

Egypt represents the toxic relationship that offers security but enslaves her spirit. The “king” is the fear of losing financial stability and public image. By faith, she steps out, trusting God to rebuild her life. She starts over, finds healing through a local church community, found a much better husband, and later mentors other women.

Faith may call you to leave behind systems or people who promise comfort but compromise your obedience to God. It will almost always cost you something — reputation, comfort, finances, or relationships — but like Moses, endurance comes when you keep your eyes on the invisible God, trusting His unseen hand more than visible threats.

TOPIC: Forsaking Egypt By Faith (2)

[27] By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.

*Message*

Today, “Egypt” can represent systems, environments, or lifestyles that promise comfort, security, and acceptance — but go against God’s will. “The wrath of the king” can be any form of backlash, rejection, or persecution you face when you stand for what’s right. “Seeing Him who is invisible” means living with your eyes fixed on God’s reality, not just what’s happening around you.

A senior accountant at a multinational company discovers the management is cooking the books to impress investors. Reporting it could mean losing her job, damaging her reputation, and even being blacklisted in her industry.

Like Moses, she chooses to “forsake Egypt” — refusing to be part of corruption. She resigns and reports the matter to authorities, trusting God to provide another opportunity. For Moses, Egypt is a place of comfort where the future is already certainly bright. However, faith empowered his spiritual eyes to see Egypt as a place that is not only against God's perfect Will for him, but also as a territory meant to hinder him from becoming all he has been destined to be.

Egypt and its systems will do everything possible just to keep you hooked within the corridors of its borders. The aim is to make you live in the camp of God's enemies and make you less than what God already ordained for you. To achieve the aim, Egypt grants incentives of pleasures. But when this stops working, the rulers employ the usage of intimidation and threats.

Like Moses, faith should empower you to be bold. Faith should courageously stir you to defile the threats of Egypt (anyone or any system) that wants to keep you where is against God's perfect Will for you.

Tunde, a contractor, was told a hospital renovation would be his if he paid a bribe. Refusal meant the deal would go elsewhere. He walked away, took smaller jobs, and tightened his budget.

Like Moses, he preferred short-term loss with righteous community over corrupt gain. Later, flooding exposed shoddy work at the bribed site; Tunde’s integrity earned him a direct award from a new admin determined to “do things right.”

Ngozi, in a lonely season of marriage, developed emotional attachment to a senior colleague who promised “no strings—just happiness.” She confessed the struggle to her mentor, set boundaries (changed team, blocked private chats), and pursued counseling with her spouse. It was awkward and costly professionally.

Like Moses, she rejected a “passing pleasure” for the harder path of covenant obedience. With time, her marriage healed; her witness made a younger colleague ask about faith.

Dear reader, decide who you are in Christ before offers come. Pre-decisions shrink compromise. Also, don't be myopic but futuristic (be eternity conscious). Then, stand with God’s people even when it costs you social capital. Like Moses, expect reproach - criticism isn’t failure; it’s often confirmation you’re swimming upstream.

Finally, keep the reward in view. God’s “well done,” deep character, and the lives impacted through your obedience outweigh quick wins.

Instead, he documented the irregularities, reported them, and was moved to a back-office role for months—no bonus, some colleagues called him “too spiritual.”

Fortunately, like Moses, he refused the identity of “the favored insider,” chose affliction with God’s people (integrity and truth), and valued a clean conscience in Christ over “Egypt’s treasure” (money and status). A year later, regulators uncovered the scheme; Chidi’s record protected him and he was placed over a new compliance unit.

A young lady called Susan runs a relationship page. A brand offered big money if she’d post “edgier” content and promote hookup apps. It promised instant follower growth. She declined, reoriented her content toward godly relationships, and lost 20% of her audience.

Like Moses, she turned down “passing pleasures” (engagement spikes, cash) and bore the “reproach of Christ” (mockery: “Your page is boring now”). Months later, her audience regrew with deeper trust; couples credit her content with helping them pursue purity

Moses was being nurtured a Prince in Pharaoh's Palace, positioned to enjoy as much pleasures as possible as royalty in a strong and prosperous nation. However, when he came of age, he didn't only come of age in years alone, but also in faith. Apparently, his Hebrews parents have hammered faith into his spirit while raising him, and he worked on the faith to make it grow as it should.

Having grown in faith, he chose to turn his back against sinful pleasures accorded him by Egypt's royalty, preferring to embrace sufferings with God's people, just to align with God's perfect Will, for faith has opened his eyes to see the far future: the reproach of Christ is greater riches than the treasures in Egypt. Faith made him not just futuristic but eternity conscious, and he fixated his attention on eternal reward ahead of the temporary tokens Egypt has to offer.

Like Moses, we must allow faith empower us to become eternity conscious, ignoring any sinful pleasure that might disqualify us from the blessings of eternity.

Even when authority threatened him, he acted for the protection of others — much like Moses’ parents, who defied the king’s command to save a life.

Let's also talk about a Christian printing company owner in Canada who was asked to produce materials promoting ideologies that contradicted their biblical beliefs. Refusing meant losing a large contract and facing public criticism. They chose to honor God’s truth over profit. Years later, their faithfulness built a loyal customer base of people who respected their integrity.

They trusted God’s provision over obeying a man-made order that conflicted with their values

Our focus scripture reveals faith-led courage in the face of fear and societal pressure. We see how Moses’ parents risked everything to protect him because they believed in God’s purpose for his life, even when the law of the land demanded otherwise.

We live in a time when laws, policies, or popular culture can contradict God’s principles, and standing for what is right can cost careers, reputation, or even safety. However, like the parents of Moses, we must allow faith empower us to take bold steps and stand only for what is right.

In 2012, in a region where Christianity faced extreme persecution, a Christian couple refused to send their teenage daughter to government-run “re-education” programs designed to erase her faith. Despite threats of losing their home and livelihood, they homeschooled her secretly for months. Today, that girl is a missionary helping others in similar countries.

Many immigrant or disadvantaged parents today work low-paying jobs, sacrificing comfort so their children can access better futures. Some build houses they never live in, some fund education they never had, some start family businesses they don’t benefit from—but their children do.

This is faith like Joseph’s — investing in a promised land they may not enter themselves. It is therefore important to emphasis the beauty of not merely living just for your own lifetime, but also sowing into a future that may outlast you.

What “bones” (instructions, principles, values) are you leaving behind for those coming after you? What promises of God are you preparing for, even if you never see them fulfilled personally?

Dear reader, the faith of Joseph should remind you that faith often involves planning and speaking as if the promise is certain —even when the evidence is invisible. You may not see the full fruit of your labour now, but your obedience today could guide a generation tomorrow.

Faith is very proactive in no small measure. Faith energies the prophetic and gives you deep insights that can't be easily captured by the smartest human mind. Such was a dimension of the kind of faith Joseph exhibited, and we can learn something from this patriach, applicable even in our day.

Remember, Egypt was a land of prosperity where Joseph enjoyed luxuries. However, when he was dying in Egypt, his heart remained glued to God's promise to his people. He believed Israel wouldn't remain in Egypt forever. Therefore, he asked that when they finally left for the Promised Land, they would take his bones with them (this was fulfilled centuries later in Exodus 13:19).

It should be noted that this act wasn't about merely about burial preferences. Rather, it was a declaration of faith in God's promise, even when he wouldn’t live to see it. So, faith is not just believing for your lifetime—it’s preparing and sowing toward promises that may outlive you.

To make this more relatable, let's look at Harriet Tubman as a case study. She escaped slavery but risked her life repeatedly to guide others to freedom. She trusted in the eventual abolition of slavery—even though it seemed impossible at the time.

Harriet could’ve stayed safe and settled like Joseph in Egypt. But her faith was active —she planned escapes, mapped routes, and empowered others, believing freedom was coming.

Today's focus scripture reveals faith that endures to the end, spiritual legacy over material inheritance, worship even in weakness, as well as passing the baton to the next generation intentionally.

The man Jacob wasn’t merely blessing his grandsons (Ephraim and Manasseh) randomly —he was declaring a God-centered future over them by faith, despite his own weariness and fading strength. Incredibly, these are things we can bring into today's context and society.

Let's consider the man Mandela. He remained deeply involved in mentoring younger leaders and blessing the next generation through his words and symbolic gestures. Like Jacob, he didn’t only leave political structures behind —he passed on moral vision, forgiveness, and unity, blessing a younger generation with hope, even while physically frail.

Despite being a single mother with only a third-grade education and living in poverty, Sonya Carson prayed over and declared success over her sons, even when others saw no potential. She limited TV, encouraged reading, and trusted God. Today, Ben Carson became a world-renowned neurosurgeon and political leader.

She plugged into an economy of faith similar to Isaac's - she couldn’t see the future, but she spoke life over it.

Before Pastor E.A. Adeboye (of RCCG) became a global Christian leader, his mother would fast and pray over him, calling him “a vessel for God’s glory”. This was during times when they were very poor and couldn’t even afford shoes. She died without ever seeing the fullness of her words—but today, those words have shaped millions of lives.

Like Isaac, she blessed “things to come” by faith.

Today's focus scripture highlights faith-driven foresight—the idea of speaking blessings over your children or legacy even when you can't see the outcome yet.

The man Isaac, though physically blind and nearing death, trusted God's covenant and spoke a prophetic blessing over both Jacob and Esau. He didn't need to see their future clearly—he believed God would fulfill His promises.

This is an action of faith that is worthy of emulation, even today!

If you are a parent, I'm aware that we currently live in a world with uncertainty, violence, and moral confusion. However, you should inculcate the faith life of speaking success, protection, and purpose over your child and plug into the economy of faith that your words won't fall to the ground.

You may be a teacher, pastor, or mentor investing in someone who looks unlikely to succeed, trusting God for transformation. Just keep doing it. In the physical, what Isaac did over his children seems to be a mundane effort, but in the realm of the spirit, it was so significant and prophetic. Your actions, by faith, are so significant in the realm of the spirit!

Kevin was engaged to a woman he loved dearly. But over time, God started convicting him about certain compromises in their relationship—sexual sin, emotional manipulation, and spiritual dryness. Ending it felt impossible. She was his “Isaac.”

“His Isaac?” A relationship that brought comfort but wasn't God's best.

Let's also consider John, who had built a successful entertainment business, but the content and clients often clashed with his Christian values. He felt the Holy Spirit tell him to shut it down—even with no backup plan.

“His Isaac?” A profitable business he built from scratch.

Within a year, God opened doors for a media company focused on wholesome content. His earnings eventually exceeded the old business, but his peace was priceless

Like Abraham, you might not understand it fully, but God’s requests are never random. He tests to trust, and when you surrender, He provides a “ram” in your thicket (Genesis 22:13).

Let's look at the case of a young woman known as Cynthia. She had a top job offer in the UK as a medical doctor, something her entire family had prayed and sacrificed for. But deep in her spirit, she felt a strong conviction to stay in Nigeria and start a mobile health initiative for rural communities. Everyone said she was crazy.

Today, God could give you instructions that revolves around career shifts, geographic relocations, breaking out of toxic traditions or cultural limitations, launching into a purpose-driven life, etc.

Like Abraham, you must trust God even when the destination is unclear.

Myles Munroe was born into poverty in the Bahamas. At a young age, he felt called by God to teach purpose and leadership globally, but that meant stepping out of a small island mentality.

"Get out of your country" moment:

He left the Bahamas to study in the U.S. and eventually traveled the world, teaching biblical purpose and leadership—even when it wasn’t popular.

As a result, he impacted millions, trained leaders across nations, and fulfilled a God-ordained calling that required him to leave comfort behind.
