Al Gore 2000 Presidential Concession Speech I am not a politician, and in my personal opinion , I think Atiku as well as his boss and number one accuser are culpable in all the corruption mudslinging. The question is that after all these attempts by Atiku to run and counter attempt by OBJ to prevent him, isn't it hi time he surrendered so that he can fight again. In my opinion (this opinion nor dey finish?) OBJ has taken this fight to a shameful extreme - using ethical and unethical, legal and illegal weapons from anywhere he was able to get them from. Atiku has also shown himself that he is not the coward they thought he was. He has won that side of the battle. The question is "is it still likely that Atiku will contest on the 21st of April?". Is it not wiser for him to step down in the interest of the nation and our (ever) nascent democracy (?). This does not preclude him from contesting at a later date (2011) if he and his boss could manage to clean up the mess and explain away the can of worms that they already opened. What is your opinion? |
what do you do when you find urself in a job you hate? shine your eyes - why do you hate it. is it the banking industry, your particular bank or the job you are the doing there. try to know what exactly pisses you off then you will know how to run from it. e.g. If you do not hate the bank, you may look for options (other depts) inhouse like someone suggested If you need to check out, then face reality - if it's not a matter of conflict of principles, like when you have to involve urself in some things that you consider immoral, then I guess you should weigh ur options and see if you can survive with what you have (or have not) made from the bank before you check out. You might want to save desperately for a few months to cover for the days of drought (or is it rain?). Work Harder - If you want to launch out from within either to another dept or to another sector altogether, Now you need to satisfy ur employer and at the same time work on the double towards your dream. You may be able to win them over to see things your way when they are happy with your job performance. Lastly, despite all, we sometimes need to take some drastic steps that will force us to act in the direction of our dreams. |
I just remembered that it was this Sunny Odogwu/ Okogwu that was saying that the Niger deltans should be grateful to the north for allowing the oil to flow from north to south withou hindering it with a dam or something. @Buluti, if adegbite and sultan says it's OK to kill, what will we do next? turn to the law for salvation. If the law had apprehended these people, we won't care about whatever adegbite or sultan says. in fact they will quickly come out in clear terms to condemn the act so that they won't be dragged in by any error of commission or ommission. But who fears the law?? Nobody!!! Those of use that are "nobodies" are the only ones that fear the law. For the big ones, law na their doggie. It bites their opponents and protects them. |
Aplologies for this long posting: The One, I sympathize with you. My heart really bled when the news broke. I even tried as much as possible to avoid looking at the picture of her widower and the 10 months old baby that was published in the daily Sun because the grief was too much for me. So I can imagine what you have to go through having known her personally. Fellow nairalanders, Let's leave islam and muslims alone o. They are not our fundamental problem in this particular instance. our problem is the worthless government that could not even hold anybody responsible for the death. Few days before this killing, former Gombe state governor - hashidu something - was arraigned in court. His supporters came to the court house to "release" him. The judge was seriously injured in the attempt. Nobody has been held for the offence. Can you imagine the madness? My concern is that we have no government and it's like anything goes as long as you have the clout to sail through. If islamic extremists know that the law will hold them responsible, even the principal, teachers, neighbors around the school will behave differently given the situation. Are there no islamic extremists or criminals in other places in the world? If they are afraid of the law things might change a little bit. Being an islamic fundamentalist is not an excuse to perpetrate crime. Rev. King was denounced by almost everyone that matters in Christendom (in naija). He has been sentenced to death. If criminals - christian or muslim fundamentalists - know that the law can bite, they will think twice before they do evil. But unfortunately, the law will never bite until the gluttons that are ruling us leave trivialities alone and devote time to governance. |
People should learn that there is a difference (with capital D) between gospel music and godly music. The fact that a musician includes God and some godly words (Christian or Islamic) in a couple of his albums does not make him a gospel musician. Have you ever listened to KSA (King Sunny Ade) praising God? I bet he even does it better than so many of these so called gospel musicians but he never called himself a gospel artiste. A gospel Musician is an EVANGELIST so to say. As far as I'm concerned, if you are not a truly born again Christian (or a practising muslim) whose music is at least 90% dedicated to the propagation of the word of God (that you believe in), then you are not a gospel musician. Unfortunately my definition does not go beyond this page. It just reminds me of a good old musician. As soon as they released mandela from prison, the man turned to Islamic musician when that one nor work, he tried some christian stuff. He now has a church. I guess that one is more lucrative. Most of them are not Gospel musician nothing. na wetin dem wan chop dey confuse dem. |

Ofuks, I do not feel any pity for you. rather I am full of shame. Shame for the society that treats visible deformities with disdain while so many of us are internally deformed. Shame and anger that I could only write and advice you even though I wish I could just fix you up with a job. This is my advice 1. when next you attend an interview, they will get to the point where they will ask if you have any questions. Ask them how they feel about your physical challenge, listen to their response and feel free to tell them what you wrote here (at least the key points). Don't forget to remind them that you have competed with able bodied men before you got to face them. Ask them if they are equal opportunity employers (I know that may sound strange to us here in naija). embarass and blackmail them politely before you leave. 2. If I were you and this sort of thing happens again, I will make a placard, list my qualifications and a request for job on the placard, then I will stand in front of NTA in VI until something happens (of course I would have prayed very well before this) Lastly, your problem is just the same being faced by able bodied men. Our academic education prepares us only for employment (read slavery). Most of us are not equiped to launch out on our own and become self employed after school. If you could do something to be gainfully self employed, you won't be sitting / standing (with a deformed hand which is visible) before some funny men with deformities that are internal and well hidden. Ofuks, walk around with your head held high. I pray for you from my heart that God will bring a positive change to your situation but please look around if there's something you can do for yourself to be self employed. |

I have good news for you 1. If you are afraid that the precum or whatever was on his finger when he touched you, then you can go to sleep 'cos that should not bring about a conception (not even semen could work that way). 2. If you did not tell us the truth and the precum or semen "touched" you before it touched his finger then you may have a cause to worry. But then your award should still go hitch free. Your pregnancy would not be obvious yet by the award date. Allow your parents to savour the moment then break the news to them later. They may be mad but they will be glad that you let them into the secret early enough. . |
I am a Nigerian and I just got an offer of admission for a Masters Program in University of Houston starting in Spring semester (January 2007). If you are looking for a big business, I might not be able to advice you. But like Seun said earlier, there are so many rules and regulations guiding business there especially for someone coming from an environment like Nigeria. I have a friend that actually had to move his family back to naija 'cos he couldn't get the permit to open his business (bakery/confectionary) on time. I also have two people that are making money without having to face so much regulatory matters. One is into bead making and the other weaves hair for naija ladies. You can check out similar ventures. |

Now about IKEBE SUPER, why are people villifying Ikebe super? It surely was meant for matured readers but it was not as bad as people here are portraying it. It was not worse than "Lagos weekend" of those days but definitely not in the same league with Dauda the sexy guy. That is why the publisher is still relevant on TV today. Papa Ajasco (the main story of Ikebe) is now a famous TV show in naija and probably some african TV stations. |
