It is clear this girl had an impending appointment with the devil.

If she wasn’t caught for this incident, she would have caused an even greater incident in the future. She clearly gets some s*ck enjoyment from causing mischief.

Her type grows up to become arson*sts or soc*opaths.

Do some research you will find that everything is not OK in her home. Everyone talks about the mother, what about the father? I can bet that the dude is not present in the home thus contributing to this girl turning out to be this way.

They always seem to have the same backgro*nd story.

a foreign religion or a foreign product is what promotes self-hate...

True.. unfortunately, Christianity is not one of them. I gave examples of other races that practice Christianity (aside Caucasians) and most are doing better than the black race.

Africans never sold anyone into slavery as Africa was and is still the richest continent... the europeans only created paper called money to manipulate people into thinking paper money is wealth..

False.... Some of the richest people/kings in Africa before the colonial era were barons in this trade. Pre-colonial Lagos/Eko was built on this trade before arrival of British troops. Google Oba kosko, Efunroye Tinubu just to name a few. Even the beloved Benin empire benefited heavily from this trade.

Africans had written and spoken language long before the europeans, arabs and any other caucasian race..

Not entirely true.... Amharic is the only indigenous African written language I know. unfortunately, we in W.Africa dont have any. I will be glad if you can mention any W.Africa written language if you know any.

blaming traditional religion for self-hate is ignorance..

Maybe not all.... but a good amount of them promote practices that lead to self hatred.

This is a history lesson to the mumu fellas that think that Europeans came to Africa to preach the gospel and salvation. They came for the natural resources. Like any other group, they came with their religion. After conquering Africa, they shoved their religion down the throat of Africans. Emeka became Peter. Okafor became Solomon. Oghene became Mary. Left with nothing and no brain power to conquer technology, Africans embraced the new religion and remain comfortable in servitude. I am refined if I bow down to the altar, image of Virgin Mary or crucifix but if I visit the shrine/altar of Amadioha, I become ostracized.

Ebola, guinea pox or AIDS are not the biggest diseases inflicting Africans; it is self-loathing.

*/

Chairman, you can thank the wicked gods our forefathers served for inflicting us with self-hate. It’s the old gods our forefathers served that made us believe that it was ok for us as a race to sell our brothers to oyibo men or sacrifice human beings (just because we there are not related to us) just to gain small fortune or healing. In all the years our forefathers served these evil gods none had gave us the idea to form our own written language or stop us from naturally hating each other.

I will not blame Christianity. There are Asian Christians in china and India and their race seems to be doing way better than the black race. Ethiopians are mainly Christians but they were still able to develop their own written language. This made them the only African country not to be colonized. I can go on and on about this but maybe another day. However imperfect Christianity may be it is a lot better than the old selfish wicked gods our forefathers served.

This is the dogma of most religions and societal law. So no, you cant just "live it anyhow you wish" like say na you carry yourself for 9 months come born you. Your life is not yours.

The average Nigerian man’s thought process really baffles me sometime. Someone posted a video showing a group of armed militia intending to cause harm to a group of defenseless Nigerian southerners. Instead of people to demand action, the general response is “what makes you think the video is real?”, “how are you sure this video was shot in Nigeria?”, “The language doesn’t even sound Nigerian seff”.

WHAT PROOF DO YOU NEED PEOPLE?? We are talking about life and death here and people are asking stupid questions. Wouldn’t the right response be for us to come together and request concrete answers from our leaders? Wouldn’t the right response be for us request that a task force be put together in order to perform a proper investigation (which will include visiting these communities and know herdsmen sight locations) to get to the bottom of all this? Instead of the government officials sitting in their air conditioned offices discussing rubbish.
This was the same type of thought process that led to the present predicament Buhari’s government has put us in. A group of individual came out, promising “Change”. No one bothered to ask is it “Good-Change” or “Bad-Change” because as far as I am concern both are “Change”. To be honest, APC gave us what they promised “Change” because no one bothered to hold them accountable before voting them in… And they laughed when I voted KOWA.

I am going to forward this video to everyone on my contact list and make calls to some of the influential people I know. Hopefully this action will get things started to save lives.

Are you an Engineer? No. Do you have to sleep in a building before you know its badly built? I hope you are not that stupid.

I am a licensed practicing profession Engineer (PE). I practice Structural Engineering now but I have a couple of years Geotechnical Engineering experience under my belt. Visual Inspection of soils is a common practice in Geotechnical Engineering. You can 9 times out of 10 decipher a soil type by judging its color, geographical location, and physical properties (Clayey Sands are easily susceptible to erosion). I don't go around pointing out your profession to you, do I? My friend, Don't vex me today! *hiss*
Politics / Re: Anambra Government Fixes Nkpor Flyover After Online Protests by Irokoroots: 7:41pm On Nov 09, 2015
The contractor looks like he is performing a cheap-fix which is not always the best option from an engineering point of view. The road will look fixed for a while but I can bet you in 5-7 years the road will be back to how it looked before (cracked and buried in the gully).

The color of the soil used as fill looks very similar to the soil in the surrounding area (which is not hard to imagine since they are going with the cheapest option). Based on the red color of the soil I will say the soil is a Clayey soil which is very common to areas susceptible to gully erosion. So this fix is like scooping water out of a sinking boat without plugging the hole in the boat.

I would imagine a more sensible fix would be to use some type of cementicous fill as backfill and a pile wall (or concrete retaining wall) to hold the fill together which makes sense since the road is more elevated than the surrounding. The people in the community need to put money together to hire an independent Civil Engineer to look at this fix and certify that it is indeed up to standard.

Na wa o. After reading some the post on this tread, all I can say is thank God for America. America is not the best country in the world, but it sure is better than a lot of places. If Nigeria was the only country in the world, some people’s children would never become anything more than housegirls.

I do see the point Pamela was trying to get across; although, she polluted it with her poor choice of words.

Some lady even made her house help get tested for HIV before employment. WOW! Are your children drinking her blood!? What type of example are you setting for your kids? Ask yourself what Jesus would do in such situation. I am sure you are Christian and Jesus/Holy Spirit are the moral compass of our faith. If the problem is your relative getting something from the house girl due to their potential to wander then you've got bigger problem than her HIV status.

Asking Nigerians to give up this housegirl culture is like asking some people not to breath. I do advice that if you must get help please employ someone who is of a more mature age (above 21) and pay the person a living wage (enough to pay rent on their own). This will at least help alleviate this disgusting practice of child slavery in the guise of housegirl.

@OP sorry for digressing. I just had to get this off my chest. You have raised some valid tips. I do hope your efforts pays off.

Fashion / Re: Toke Makinwa Dressed In Tissue Paper by Irokoroots: 4:47pm On Dec 05, 2013
Haba my people, don’t tell me no one here has ever been to a bridal shower or has even ever seen one in a movie. I know its not our culture but so are alot of things we do these days in Nigeria. A popular game people play at bridal showers involves making a wedding dress with whatever is available at the event (e.g. toilet tissue or news paper). The winner is then picked and given a price based on the best looking dress. That is what the picture above was referring to. I am sure Toke did not wear that to the event.

@OP please make the necessary changes to the heading because saying she wore that to the event is misleading.

I have attached a link below explaining more about the game for anyone who is interested to read.

Gbabe 2: Bros its a lie.I left Nigeria 10 months ago with a visa lottery and i dont have any regret today.I was an Assistant Manager (Internal Audit) with an Insurance Company in VI when i won a Visa lottery. Also,I am an ACCA Chartered Accountant,a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA),a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Forensic Accountant (CrFA) when i left nigeria last December.By Gods grace i also had a Savings of 10000 USD with me when i left Lagos and i can tell you today i have no regrets at all.
First and foremost,i started with this Certified medical Training (CMT) in Baltimore Maryland. After 3 months i got a job with the training and i was working as a care giver (cleaning and bathing the disabled and handicaps). If you have ever heard of Chimes Incorporation Baltimore,Maryland that was were i started with all my certificates and exposures.I wont deceive you,if i didn't do that my host was ready to throw me out then (March 2013).But i never lost my vision and dreams. With the little i was earning cleaning the disabled,i got a small car to push me around and was still applying for my accounting and audit jobs.I attended more than 40 different interviews both within and outside of Baltimore,MD.Severally i drove to Annapolis (State Capital) for interviews and i had no regrets.A lot of people told me i cant get an Accounting Job but i didnt allow their stupid, naive and parochial way of thinking to stop me.Peeps,we all know where we are going to.Some 1000miles and some 50 miles journey in life and which i believe will help you to prepare and fortify yourself.Guess what?i also started my CPA examinations instantly just to add value to my self and i have no regret at all.
By Gods grace, today i have an Audit job with an international organization here in Baltimore,MD.I earn 60K USD and i will travel to 23 states in USA and 4 different Continents with my new role as International Financial Auditor (after 9 months of Job hunting).
Dont ever under estimate yourself.Look beyond your hindrances and always pray to God for mercies and unusual favor.God has a purpose for you coming to United States.Dont cage yourself and dont ever listen to failures.Today,by Gods grace people come to me and ask how i did it.
I have no regrets at all by his grace

@Gbabe, I took the time to read your previous posts and can say that your life is full of testimonies and favor. I really admire your tenacious spirit. I did my undergrad in Bmore and can tell you that your story is one in a million. Being that you have been in the country only for a while and now have a good job, I will advice you to do all you can to get a house as quickyly as possible, no matter how small. Not owning propety is a common mistake we immigrants make. I do wish you luck in your CPA exam and look forward to your post of you getting a job that pays USD120k (amen to that). Properties / Re: Pile Or Raft Foundation Which Will Be Ideal? by Irokoroots: 7:18pm On Oct 31, 2013
Alot of valid points have been raised here.

I will take it a bit further and spell it all out for you. Basically from the information you provided, you are looking at three options for your proposed building: deep foundations (i.e steel/concrete piles extending to the bearing depth), drilled shafts (same concept as deep foundations with shorter piles), or a rafts/mat foundation.

Now, your building can be supported on mat/raft foundation; however, you will have to put into consideration the cost of excavating, to the bearing depth, the entire surface area (plus some) of your building. Judging by the height of your building, this may cost alot of time and money. You will also have to consider the added cost to buy all the concrete needed for the mat foundation and factor in the amount of disturbance this option will cause to your surroundings during construction (excavation).

Drilled shafts on the other hand may cost as much as mat foundation depending on the availability of material and/or equipment. Using this option, you will eliminate the added time necessary for excavation as well as limit the disturbance to your surrounding during construction. However, you will have to confirm with a registered geotechnical/foundation engineer that the soils at your proposed site can indeed support your building on drilled shafts.

Finally, your soils have to be really bad to require that a 5 story be supported on deep piles. Now, I have no idea what your site looks like so this scenario is not entirely impossible. Depending on how deep your piles have to be, this option can definitely be more expensive than using mat/raft foundation.

I advice you to put all the points stated into consideration when making your final decision. The foundation recommendation for your building should be provided by a registered geotechnical/foundation engineer. The geotechnical/foundation engineer should carry out the necessary soil test/analysis needed to make his recommendations. Although using a registered geotechnical/foundation engineer may costs a bit more, having one provides you the option of who to hold if your building should ever fail as a result of a foundation issue *God forbid*. I hope this clears things up for you. God bless Nairaland

Great ambition man. My advice is to never give yourself time limits when planning lofty goals. Patience is always a virtue with these things like these.  Companies like Google, Facebook, and Apple wouldn't be where they are now if their founders weren't patient. Also it depends on the market you are targeting. If Nigeria is your playing field, Nigeria has 150 million people with service needs. Look for something you are good at, be the first in market, make sure your services are of world class quality and with patience and hard work your goal would come into fruition. I wouldnt advice manufacturing anything unless you have Dangote money because the infrastructural state of the country wouldn't give you an advantage when competing with China. Good luck

Honestly, what do you guys see in this guy? Because I dont know what all the fuss is about. Believe me I have nothing against him. He just seems to me more like a figure-head than a leader. This is a guy who's been the president for a year with nothing significant to show. A guy who doesnt even show up for a national debate organized by his people. A guy who sees it fit to spend millions of naira on a cake and chooses to spend millions of dollars on private jets while the national highways are still two lane roads just to name a few. See, even though all the candidates are the same I would have at least thought Nigerians would put up a fight alittle. Anyway Na una choose am so "Goodluck" to you guys instead.
