Crime › Re: Rapists Strangle UTME Candidate In Ogun, Dump Corpse Inside Bush (photo) by Irore: 11:08am On Mar 22, 2016 |
winkmart: Parents of 20-year-old Joan Egemba, have been thrown into mourning after their daughter was stabbed and strangled by some suspected rapists in the Ijebu Igbo area of Ogun State.
Joan, who bagged a National Diploma in Accountancy from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, enrolled for the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the deceased left her home in the Odo Eran, Sango-Ota area around 12pm on Thursday, March 3, for the National Open University of Nigeria centre in Awa Ijebu, where she was posted to sit for the exam the following day.
It was learnt that on Thursday evening, she was abducted at the Ijebu Oru Junction – a few distance away from the centre – by persons suspected to be rapists.
Her corpse was said to be found in a bush at the back of a secondary school in Ijebu Igbo with cuts in her thighs.
Our correspondent was told that the briefs that Egemba wore were torn, suggesting that her assailants were rapists.
Her father, Emmanuel Egemba, said she had called him on the telephone on getting to the centre, informing him that the security guard attached to the centre turned down her request to pass the night on the premises.
He said, “On that Thursday, she left home around 12.30pm, but the bus she boarded at Sango to the centre left around 2pm. She called at 5.30pm that she had arrived there, but the security man at the centre did not open the gate for her and others to pass the night on the premises. I told her to find a place in the area till the following day when she would sit for the exam.
“Around 7pm, I called her again and she said the security man had opened the gate for them. One hour after, I called again but she did not pick her calls. She was supposed to sit for the exam at 6.30am on Friday. I called her around 12pm on Friday, her phone was switched off. As early as 4am on Saturday, I went to the centre to verify whether she sat for the exam or not. I met the security man and he directed me to the JAMB office in Abeokuta. He denied that he allowed my daughter into the school compound to pass the night.
“It was a woman that told us that a girl was kidnapped at Oru Junction and taken towards Ijebu Igbo. We later discovered her corpse on Wednesday, March 9. If the candidates were allowed to sleep inside the school, this incident would not have happened.” Emmanuel, a retired Assistant Superintendent of Nigerian Customs, said the loss of his daughter was hard to bear, but the family had taken solace in God.
“I learnt it was rapists that killed her. Her body was not mutilated, but she had cuts in the mouth and thighs. Her clothes and briefs were torn and she had bruises in the back.
“We prayed before she left home on that day. While we were praying this morning (Monday) I looked at where she used to sit and it was vacant,” he said. He stated that the deceased’s mother, Mrs. Chimemo Egemba, was too distraught and could not speak withPUNCH Metro.
A neigbour, who identified himself only as Wale, said the Divisional Police Officer in Awa Ijebu did not act promptly when the case was reported and called for comprehensive investigation to unravel Joan’s killers.
He said, “I followed Emmanuel to the police station on Wednesday, four days after he reported the case, and I asked the DPO if he had visited the school. He said no. He should have gone to the centre instantly to investigate. He is not fit to be a policeman.
“It was at a building beside the NOUN centre that we got the information that the girl was abducted. We traced her to Ijebu Igbo with her picture. At a motor park there, we showed the picture to a man who told us her corpse was dumped in a bush at the back of a school.
“I think she struggled with her abductors while they attempted to rape her. I think they strangled her when they did not succeed in raping her. We want those that perpetrate this act to be fished out and brought to book.”
Wale said a police officer at the Ijebu Igbo division told him that they were overwhelmed by the spate of crime in the community, adding that many policemen had influenced their transfers from Ijebu Igbo to other stations.
The Ogun State Police spokesperson, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the command was working with its Information and Communication Technology experts to track down the suspects. He said, “We are working on the information we have to get the culprits.

Hmm. Ogun state and always revolving btw Abeokuta and Ijebu;two terrible places in Nigeria. The heart of occultism. May the almighty God Himself who is head of principalities and powers deliver these communities in Jesus name.Amen |
Romance › Re: Why I Didn't Marry Her. by Irore: 10:44am On Mar 22, 2016 |
dearpreye: Good morning all.
Moments ago, I saw and read a relationship topic on front page. This is as a result of that topic. The OP asked for advice from NLers over his to - be wife who has very serious anger issues. Anger is one of the worst weaknesses any person could have or tolerate in their lives.
We have this erroneous belief that ALL courtship must end in marriage. It's a dangerous mindset. The purpose of any courtship is to ascertain the COMPATIBILITY of the people involved. It's a time for each person to carefully decide what they can or can't tolerate in their partner. The courtship period is the most vital period before the knot is tied.
This message isn't tailored towards discouraging those who are in a courtship neither is it intended to make us fault finders but its purpose is make sure we make good decisions with our HEADS after taking the time to study and understand people.
People don't change.
Humans are some of the most complex creatures God ever made. We hardly change. We only change when we want to, not because some people wanted us to. That's the human nature. If you're tolerating very difficult issues with the belief the person will change in marriage, you've inherited an eternal prayer and fasting ministry. They will hardly change.
Don't ever ignore RED FLAGS.
Red flags are warning signals predicting potential dangers in the path of your relationship.
If any person told me I want going to marry Mary, I wouldn't have believed. I thought we were in love. Maybe we were. I was old enough to have witnessed my parents argue very bitterly, sometimes also to the point of not talking to each other for days. So I knew marriage is one of the most vital events I'll ever undertake; so I was prepared to get as much facts as I could on the issue of marriage.
When I visited her this fateful day, I didn't know it would be the last day we would see. It was blissful day. She had suggested I visit a pastor friend of hers. I did. She suggested I visit another friend but this time I refused because of the exhaustion that followed the first journey. In fact I suggested we reschedule the visit. An argument ensued. She insisted I should go, but I stood my grounds. After some exchange of words, I decided to return home. That was when the unthinkable happened : my clothes were hooked up and ruffled and all my buttons destroyed. I didn't believe it was happening.
I got a new clothe and returned home. On my journey, I typed a beautiful message, appreciated all the times we had and gave reasons why the relationship has ENDED. There was no way I would be getting married to a potentially violent woman. She apologised and call my parents but I was gone. No promise of change on her part OR emotional tears could have me change my stance; I was gone.
If a little argument could lead to my buttons being destroyed during courtship, I didn't need any person to have told me what lied ahead. That moment, I engaged critical thinking and forever exited the relationship. But I didn't fail to point to her her anger issues. Some other person could put up with her, but not ME.
We need to be very clear when we make very critical decisions like whom to get married to. How far you go in life depends, to a very large extent, whom you're getting married to.
Never permit pressures of age or parents or even the society force you into making decisions that will only guarantee decades of bitterness, sorrow and gloom. Your decisions determine your destiny. Your decisions determine your happiness or sadness.
I'm not advocating for impatience on anyone's part. You could still give very reasonable time for your partner to address some red flags you'll notice. But where such a partner has not shown any meaningful, positive difference, let your head rather than your heart, guide thee.
Life's beautiful but getting married to someone you're NOT compatible with, will make life long, sad and miserable.
Make a smart choice and avoid a life of endless prayers, fasting and counselling. The average Nigerian has enough prayer points already! LOL.
Have a great day. The person that needs to change is you and not the person you are going to marry. That's the mindset all unmarried persons should have. Find time to listen to Pst. Olumide Emmanuel's Youth and Singles seminar audio tape. |

Car Talk › Re: Toyota Unveils First Nigerian Toyota Vehicle Assembled In Lagos(photo) by Irore: 6:06pm On Mar 21, 2016 |
stephenduru: Toyota Nigeria has achieved a breakthrough in Nigeria by unveiling of its first locally-assembled vehicle in Lagos, a Hiace bus.
Toyota Nigeria last year hinted of its plan to establish a vehicle assembly plant in the country to join Nissan, Ford, Kia, Peugeot and a host of other auto firms already assembling vehicles locally.
The Managing Director, Toyota Nigeria, Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo, said the new Hiace was assembled in the company’s plant in Lagos, built with 30,000-unit production capacity every year.
The Hiace, he said, was assembled as a test case, adding that the organization would soon begin its mass production.
This is coming about two and a half years after the announcement of the Automotive Industry Development Plan by the Federal Government, which raised the import duty on cars from 22 per cent to 70 per cent in order to discourage vehicle importation.

martyns303: After seeing this I have no regrets whatsoever on my initial stand, I am not a jury but I believe in a fair hearing.
Of all the placards, one in particular is worth noticing. The one that says "no mother, no daughter, no case". Now lets assume you are a mother and someone molest your daughter, what would you do? Go write an anonymous letter on a blog?
From the previous thread it was obvious that the man is an exceptional teacher, one student with a placard says if he goes, so do the A's which is why the school management wouldn't want to let go of him, he's an asset.
Nonetheless I hope this matter is properly investigated, if I were a father I wouldn't want my daughter to be in such a situation. So let the authorities look into this, and I hope the school management did not put the students up for this.
For laugh:: why are all the students wearing an exact type of sandal?
Lalasticlala Envy or is Jealousy the most appropriate word? for a man who has being winning awards due to his dedication to duty. The school authority I believe know the foe within more so when this is not the first time. Damn the consequence and expose the person that wants to pull Osifala down. |
I have always never been comfortable with the number of churches around my house, the blaring speakers and unavailable street parking most days gets to me, but today one of them. Surprised me. It started as a knock on my door as early as 8am sat morning, I was asked politely to come and move one of my vehicles that is usually parked on the street, when I got out of the house I was really shocked, I saw men and women, armed with brooms, shovels, wheel barrows, rakes, cutlasses and all sort of cleaning/clearing equipment. As I reparked the vehicle, I could not help but notice that the church close to my house had almost all its members CHEERFULLY cleaning the entire street! Now this is not your GRA interlocked kind of street, but un-tarred and really dirty. They cleared every gutter, filled craters with stones and rubble cleard dirt, swept the front of people's houses and organized a pickup truck to take away all the dirt. I am really impressed. It's not always about carrying bible and preaching salvation, but sometimes ministering to the individual and collective needs of people in your locality. I am already tempted to visit there tomorrow . I am sure they have won not just my heart, but that of every one on the street. Thumbs up to Springs of living water parish RCCG. Let somebody shout Aalleluya....... Street dwellers, please don't litter the environment again. Manage your waste responsibly. |
