Politics › 2023 Polls: BBC Report Reinforces What We Already Know - Neo Africana Centre by iSense247(op): 12:18pm On May 20, 2023 |
The Neo Africana Centre has said that the just released report of the BBC which exposed the alterations and falsifications that characterised the May 25 presidential elections in Nigeria has reinforced the doubts and misgivings Nigerians have been expressing about the conduct and outcome of the elections.
The BBC had, on May 16, released a damning report of how the presidential election was compromised in Rivers State to pave way for a Bola Tinubu victory at the polls. The highlight of the report was the suppression of votes earned by Peter Obi and their attribution to Bola Tinubu.
In a statement by its Director of Public Affairs, Jenkins Udu, the public policy think tank commended the BBC for the diligent report and charged other media organisations with considerable clout and exposure to borrow a leaf from the bold effort of the BBC.
“Even though the media outfit restricted its investigation to just Rivers State, we are convinced that Rivers is not alone in this malfeasance. We believe that what transpired in Rivers State must have happened in a number of other states across the country. The cumulative effect of all this is that the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria cannot stand logical scrutiny. We are constrained to posit that the Independent National Electoral Commission merely contrived figures and allocated them at will.
“The report is also a reaffirmation of the earlier claim made by Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State worked against him in the election. The report of suppression of Peter Obi’s votes and their false attribution to candidate Bola Tinubu is particularly disturbing. The action casts a very dangerous slur on the integrity and acceptability of the results announced by INEC in Rivers State and some other places in the country. We therefore reiterate the position we have severally held that the outcome of the presidential elections is questionable and should therefore be revisited.
“Indeed, the BBC report and many other claims and counter claims on the May 25 presidential elections are ready raw materials for the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal. The damning evidences should be deployed in the ongoing hearings on the elections. We expect that in the end, the interest of our democracy will be better served by the welter of evidences before the Tribunal. Nigerians are not expecting anything less,” the statement said. https://sunnewsonline.com/2023-polls-bbc-report-reinforces-what-we-already-know-says-neo-africana-centre/ |

Politics › Tribunal: Lamidi Apapa's Unruly Behaviour In Court Today, A Cause For Concern by iSense247(op): 2:28pm On May 17, 2023 |
In a courtroom drama at the Presidential Election Petitions Court in Abuja on Wednesday, the names put forward as representatives of the Labour Party were dismissed by the court.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that as is customary in court proceedings, parties are required to announce their appearance when the judges enter the courtroom. This allows the lawyers involved in the case to do the same.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, stood up to announce his appearance as the first petitioner. Following him, the Labour Party’s national women leader, Mrs. Dudu Manuga, announced her appearance as the second representative of the party.
However, while Obi and Manuga were speaking, Lamidi Apapa, the factional chairman of the Labour Party, stood up to identify himself.
Despite not being given a microphone, he declared himself as the chairman of the party and interrupted Manuga, asserting that he was the true representative of the Labour Party.
The five-man panel of the court, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, expressed clear displeasure with the unfolding situation. The judge made it clear that they would not recognize anyone claiming to represent the Labour Party. He acknowledged Obi’s appearance as the first petitioner but did not acknowledge any representatives from the party.
Julius Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party, was present in court but did not announce his appearance.
This development stems from a crisis that arose when two separate courts in Abuja and Edo issued conflicting orders regarding the recognition of different leadership factions within the political party. POLITICS NIGERIA |

Tinubu: ‘The US Has Just Affirmed That This Election Is The Worst In The History Of Nigeria’ – Bwala Says
Numerous political analysts who disapproved of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s proclamation as the new president have questioned the legitimacy of the 2023 Presidential election.
The United States will impose visa restrictions on people who undermine the democratic process during the elections, according to Anthony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States, despite the fact that many people have claimed that the 2023 election will be the best in Nigerian history.
According to Atiku’s presidential campaign spokesman Daniel Bwala, the US has just declared that the 2023 election will be the worst in Nigerian history.
He claimed that the US has recently made a declaration of purpose regarding the strengthening of democracy throughout the world.
He emphasized that this visa limitation would affect people whose offshore money would be frozen and who would subsequently be put under criminal monitoring. He claims that rather than targeting the nation as a whole, the sanctions are directed at specific individuals.
”What the US has said has established what we are talking about,” he said. that irregularities tainted this election.
This election was a heist in plain daylight. The results of this election won’t be something that the next generation wants to remember. The worst election in Nigerian history, according to the US, has just taken place. https://nobsnaija.com/2023/05/tinubu-the-us-has-just-affirmed-that-this-election-is-the-worst-in-the-history-of-nigeria-bwala-says/ |

lhordspy: With due respect. Prof is a dull brilliant man. ... including FCT ... or FCT ... and FCT Do you think the above three phrases are same in meaning? He stated that if the law has used the word including, it would have been interpreted in another way. He however identified that the word ‘and’ that has been used mandates that the winner of the election must have gotten 25% in the FCT before being declared as the winner by INEC. In addition, the law would have used including or or instead of and. When and is used, there's no room for option. This is an independent substatement according to the theory of probability. |
Politics › 25% In FCT: The Law Does Not Say “Including,” But ... Prof. Adewale Tells Tinubu by iSense247(op): 4:27pm On May 14, 2023 |
Prof. Adewale tells Tinubu that the law does not say “including,” but rather that the winner must receive 24 states and the FCT Prof. Adewale told Tinubu that the law does not say "including," but rather that the winner must receive 24 states and the FCT. The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu not getting 25 percent in the Federal Capital Territory has been a major issue after the 2023 election.
The opposition had argued that the APC flagbearer didn’t get the required 25 percent that would have got him declared by INEC as the winner of the election. A Former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Professor Adewale Oladipo has alleged that the provision of the Law is clear in this regard.
He stated that if the law has used the word including, it would have been interpreted in another way. He however identified that the word ‘and’ that has been used mandates that the winner of the election must have gotten 25% in the FCT before being declared as the winner by INEC.
According to him, if Tinubu has not gotten this then there is a problem. Although some other Senior Advocates had argued rather that FCT is also a state under the law and it doesn’t have a higher electoral value than other states.
Hs said, ”When you read the provision of the constitution, it says to be declared President, the candidate must get 25 percent of the votes in at least two-thirds of the states in the federation and the FCT.
The law did not say ‘including’, it means Winner must get 24 states minimum and the FCT. My simple knowledge of grammar tells me that a winner needs to have 25 percent in FCT. I have not looked at the result of the person declared. If he did not get 25 percent of the votes in FCT, then there is a problem.”

They started with “go to court”, then they said, “get over it, no court will change the outcome”. Then they said “withdraw the court case and align yourselves to the govt” and now they say, “cancel the election and see violence”. At every stage, the reality is gradually setting in.
My friends I tell u, there won’t be Tinubu presidency. Mah-mud might have rigged the election for him to buy time, but eventually the rightful winner Peter Gregory Obi will reclaim his mandate. Like Lagos where the PDP situation room announced that Obi obtained over 983,000 votes instead of the 583,000 votes INEC allocated to him to Plateau where another PDP situation room agent has equally revealed that Obi obtained over 1.2million votes.
Interestingly enough, the results in INEC IReV show that Obi won in Rivers, Benue and Taraba states as against the INEC declared result. Obi won in almost all the military formations across country. Obi obtained 25% of the votes in 31 states of the federation and the only candidate to do that in Abuja. The constitution is clear that no candidate can be validly elected as president of nigeria without 25% in Abuja. The electoral fraud that happened on 25/02/2023 can’t be swept under the carpet. If FCT is a state, then your almighty "AND" which you've been brandishing all over the forum become useless. It means the and is just separating two different items that may be interpreted as the same. Can you quote the portion of the constitution that supports the bolded? If constitution says FCT should be seen as a state, why the need for specifically mentioning it again since it's already seen as a state? Why was no any other state not mentioned? Who is the governor of FCT? Your sincere answers to this questions will show you that was INEC president-select. |

That means if you say there are 16 boys in the class, you are correct, but everyone has to be identified properly hence the 14 boys and 2 girls Interpretation in the absence of ambiguity for statement that is written in layman language. For instance, I was in the situation room, the results from Plateau was highly doctored. Labour Party and Peter Obi got up to 1.2 million votes but what was declared was less than 600,000 votes.
The same thing goes for Benue, Labour Party got almost 47% of all the total votes cast based on what we monitored in the situation room, that is, from our agents on ground where we are getting the results. Well that’s not what was declared.
The same thing happened again in Lagos, I mean you can imagine the Lagos one. So that election is still being contested.” |

Now if you look at it from that angle, it's like saying (to your question) " call for me 50% of the students, ie boys and girls or boys or girls so long as 50% of students is represented Are you saying what is written in the constitution is not what it means? You are deliberately complicating it so as to confuse yourself to soothe your mind. That portion of the constitution is simple, clear and easy to understand even to a primary school drop out.
