If I may ask you, tell me the branches of petroleum engineering, you will only say drilling engineering.
In Petroleum Engineering we have,
1. Reservoir Engineering
2. Production Engineering
3. Drilling Engineering
4. Petroleum economist
5. Well formation evaluator
6. Completion Engineering
7. Artificial lift

Though, oil companies in Nigeria do convert mechanical and co to drilling engineers but for others aspect of petroleum engineering they can't give you the job because you don't have the foundation.
In Standford, Alberta, King Fahd university of petroleum and top universities in the world, petroleum engineering is studied in both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
