PoliticsTimi Frank Raises Alarm Over Threats To Life Allegedly From Ex-Minister Sylva by Itopalucky(op): 10:47am On Jun 28, 2023
…Writes Police IG

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Wednesday, raised the alarm over threats to his life allegedly from a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva.

Frank who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, said he has officially reported the matter to the Police via a petition to the Acting Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetotkun, for investigation and necessary action.

He urged the Inspector General of Police,
Nigerians and the international community to hold Sylva responsible should any harm befalls him in the near and foreseeable future.

Frank’s  petition to the IGP, dated 27th June 2023 and titled: “Incessant threats to life of Comrade Timi Frank” was signed by his counsel, Edward Omaga,  who is the principal partner of GRAYLAW Practice LP, Abuja.

The petition reads in part: “Re: Petition against Chief Timipre Sylva for committing acts bordering on identity theft, impersonation, forgery of academic certificates and giving false evidence contrary to Section 486 of the Criminal Code Act, CAP C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 read together with Sectons 366, 364 and 158 (2) of the Penal Code Act, CAP 532 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (Abuja) 1990.

“The above matter and our petition dated 22nd May, 2023 which was received at your former office being Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCIID), Nigeria Police Force, Area 10, Garki, FCT - Abuja on 26th May, 2023 refers:

“We write to report that while investigation activities are ongoing, Chief Timipre Sylva has resorted to threatening the life of our client, Comrade Timi Frank, for daring to blow the whistle regarding the anomalies contained in his academic certificates.

“Our client informed us through a distress call this morning that the former Minister of Petroleum Resources who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer in Bayelsa State Governorship Election coming up 14th November, 2023, has made active plans to hunt him down wherever he is within or outside Nigeria.

“It is obvious that Chief Timipre Sylva has revealed this sinister plans to several of his close aides and associates, some of who have called our client under condition of anonymity to take caution.

“According to the reliable information gathered by our client, Chief Timipre Sylva is already funding a deadly squad to monitor our client in his residences in Accra and Dubai with the sole  aim of eliminating him.

“Sir, it is important that you handle this alarm about threat to the life of our client with utmost seriousness because Chief Timipre Sylva is a man known to be associated with cultists and other deadly squads ready to carry out any order at his behest.

“Recall that Chief Timipre Sylva was fingered to have orchestrated the failed attempt to lynch and kidnap Senator Adams Oshiomhole when as a sitting Governor of Edo State he visited Yenagoa, Bayelsa State to conduct the APC primaries ahead of the 5th December 2015 Governorship Election.

“Chief Timipre Sylva did not only hire thugs to take over Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, venue of the primaries, he made sure that the exercise was scuttled.

“Senator Adams Oshiomhole May have been lucky to escape by the whiskers years ago but we cannot tell the extent to which Chief Timipre Sylva would go this time around to ensure that our client is totally silenced.

“In the light of the above therefore, we call on the Inspector General of Police to take note that should anything untoward happens to our client, Chief Timipre Sylva should be held liable.”

The lawyer insisted that never in the history of Nigeria as a democratic country has it become an offence for a patriotic citizen such as Timi Frank to expose corrupt and fraudulent activities of serving or retired public officers.

“We pray that you take urgent actions capable of protecting the life of our client in line with your statutory duties under Section 4 of the Police Act, 2020.

“We are confident that as a man of competence and integrity you will do everything possible to assure local and international observers that criminality will no longer thrive in Nigeria,” the lawyer added.

PoliticsFight Corruption, Help Recover Stolen Assets - Victor Uwajeh Tells Tinubu by Itopalucky(op): 4:10pm On Jun 27, 2023
A United Kingdom based International Investigator and a former Special Investigator to the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Asset (SPIPP), Evangelist Victor Uwajeh, has called on President Bola Tinubu to strengthen the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Uwajeh, who was also an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) consultant wanted the Tinubu administration to focus on recovery of stolen funds by politically exposed persons and agents of government.

Uwajeh, in a statement released Tuesday in Abuja, advised that recovery should focus on some areas which include oil subsidy scam, crude oil liftings and non-remittances, crude oil swap agreements, Offshore Crude oil processing agreements, Duty Waiver Fraud and Rice subsidy fraud.

According to the statement, Uwajeh also advised that the Tinubu administration should investigate all federal agencies of government for monumental fraud.

Evangelist Uwajeh further advised President Tinubu to have the political will to fight corruption and impunity in Nigeria.

He said: Looting of public funds have become endemic in Nigeria and this is done with impunity knowing that nothing will happen to the perpetrators of these crimes.

“It is also important for the administration of Bola Tinubu to implement the Presidential Executive Order No. 008 of 2018, (Amended 2019) on the Voluntary Offshore Assets Regularization Scheme (VOARS).

“Implementation of this Executive Order will assist the Government tremendously and will be a game changer to primitive acquisition of assets by Politically Exposed Persons and their cronies.”

While commending President Tinubu for the choice of Security Chiefs and most especially the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Uwajeh described the new NSA “an expert and very reliable compatriot.”

He, therefore, called on President Tinubu to shun mediocrity in the appointment of persons into his administration, saying “capacity and excellence must be his watchword.”

PoliticsTompolo Government: Is Nigeria Finally Solving Its Crude Oil Theft Problems? by Itopalucky(op): 10:03am On Jun 13, 2023
By Godspower Oshodin, Fortworth TX.

It was the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) who revealed that Nigeria lost 619.7 million barrels of crude oil valued at N16.25 trillion ($46.16 billion) to crude oil theft between 2009 and 2020, and between January and August 2022, Nigeria lost over $2bn to oil-theft with consequent loss of revenue that would have supported the country’s fiscal deficits and budget implementation.

For most economies globally, it is a landmark loss. Thus, we can easily attribute it to be the entire size of most nations economy. Loosing over 3trn in oil-theft in the first eight months was alarming, knowing fully well that it is more than the total allocation to health in the proposed 2023 budget. Nigeria failed to take full advantage of higher oil prices in 2022 because of its inability to rapidly expand production, and the persistent problem of the theft of part of what was produced.

The negative impact of oil-theft cannot be over-emphasized. Oil-theft not only deprives Governments of internal revenue but it also has direct and indirect impacts on the economic development of neighbouring countries. Oil-theft erodes regional business confidence, investment and domestic development.

To keep the country’s most reliable economic source safe and intact, the Nigerian Government employed the services of Tompolo through his company, Tattitan Limited, and for many who know Government Ekpemupolo a.k.a Tompolo, we reckon that he was in command of thousands of militants and was very successful in attacking the insensitivity of the Government and the multinational oil companies concerning the exploitation and degradation of the people and environments of the Niger Delta. It is easy to say he has fought for the cause for decades, and has traversed many miles in supporting the progress of the Nigerian Economy.

We can recall that in 2012, the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration was determined to curb the loss of over 500,000 barrels per day of crude oil to illegal bunkering, hence the Federal Government awarded a multi-million Dollar pipeline surveillance contract to Tompolo, through his company, Global West Specialist Agency. The contract was immediately stopped when President Muhammadu Buhari first came to power in 2015. The former MEND commander, known for his knowledge of the creeks, is meant to monitor and oversee other surveillance contracts, contractors and their activities in the entire Niger Delta. Before the cancellation of the contract, the arrangements he put in place had tackled illegal bunkering and increased Nigeria’s production to over two million barrels per day.

The oil-rich country appeared to have lost track of the number of pipeline sabotage incidents as it had become the norm from 2015 down to mid-2022 hence Nigeria lost billions of Dollars. With Tompolo in the helms of affairs since late-2022, the country seemed to have recorded significant progress in terms of pipeline protection. He is tagged as a 'fearless leader' by many who witnessed how he picked himself up and rose to prominence in the entire oil-rich South-South region.

The criticality of his surveillance contract to secure the pipelines has brought a lot of significant achievements over the recent-past months to the Nigerian Government. Although his appointment was met with so much frown from different stakeholders, it was generally considered profitable by the Presidency of the Nation. Speaking at the 49th session of the State House briefing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja in October 2022, Mele Kyari, the Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, said the decision was necessitated by the need for Nigeria to hire private contractors to man its oil pipeline network nationwide due to massive oil theft.

"Tompolo is a phenomenal leader. He has spent most of his time thinking about his people. He is so concerned about their well-being. I admire some of the things he has done for the people of Niger Delta for many years. He understands his onions and has helped the Nigerian Government in finding proper sanity in all the oil region. This administration has enjoyed the dividends of bringing him on board. He is starting a project titled #OneChildOneEducation across the Niger Delta. He is so keen about the education of the youth in our region. He is one guy who likes a highly motivated and educated populace to spur high-tech boom and bring rapid economic development to the country. He is one guy every administration would need in protecting our economic splendour,” TEJERE JOLOMI THOMAS, an Industrialist, asserted.

“I think Nigeria is at that level where the oil and gas industry is supposed to be leveraging on the tendencies we have. We are supposed to be competing on the global stage. The leadership of Mr. Mele Kyari at the NNPC has been enthralling. He understands the direction the NNPC should go as a corporation. The NNPC is supposed to be in the stock exchange globally. We may not be operating at the level the likes of Saudi Aramco are yet, but he is fast changing the narratives towards that glorious direction. He is activating some plausible reforms, and with operational possibilities for some of our refineries, I believe the future holds a lot for this country. We should also thank God we have a pragmatist leader in President Bola Tinubu; he knows his onions. You can see his actionable moves thus far, his appointments are emphatic, and he his assuming some admirable partnerships across board,” Tejere concluded.

With the trail of potentials enveloping the President Tinubu’s administration, Tompolo and Tattitan seem to have all their duck in a roll. Discovering over a hundred illegal pipelines across the Niger Delta regions over the recent-past months is an economic achievement for the Nigerian Government. One would easily say Mr. Tompolo is ticking all the boxes on the checklist when it comes to deliverables. Nonetheless, his score-cards may have not been well analyzed on the media space in Nigeria, but he is not faltering in sustaining the guard-rails of protecting the Nigerian economy.

PoliticsDemocracy Day: Chief Dele Momodu Was A True Hero Who Stood Till The Very End by Itopalucky(op): 5:08pm On Jun 12, 2023
By Issa Itopa Lucky

Today being June 12 is earmarked as the day Nigeria and Nigerians all over the world celebrate the hard-fought democracy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

June 12 is a significant day in the annals of the history of Nigeria, hence it is named in its significance as Democracy Day, in Nigeria.

It all dates back to the June 12, 1993 Presidential election that was won by former President M.K.O. Abiola but was annulled hence leading to series of horrible events that would eventually lead to the truncation of the third republic.

The events that will follow after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election were events that would later shape the destiny of the nation Nigeria in its struggle for democracy and nationhood in its essence as the will of the people of Nigeria was greatly tested in various dimensions. Many joined the struggle, many would later back out and in some instances, many would later pay the supreme price of laying down their lives for the struggle. The Military would later unleash real terror on promoters of democracy. The days were indeed getting darker and darker as the months after June 12, 1993 went by as more and more pro-democracy activists took their stands in the struggle and in the process, more had to pay the ultimate price of laying down their lives, while some others were kept in indefinite and dehumanising detention for trumped-up charges and for charges that are clearly made up on the spot to fight democracy as democracy had become outlawed by the late General Sani Abacha Military regime.

Some others were forced into exile as Abacha's men hunted them like Herod hunting for baby Jesus in the Bible. Abacha's goal was one, which was to completely eliminate even the very memory of democracy of Nigeria and Nigerians hence he sought to end the lives of any and all who try to speak in favour of democracy under any guise whatsoever.

Thirty years after, we continue to re-live those moments and one person who played a key role in withstanding the anti-democratic forces of General Sani Abacha was Chief Dele Momodu.

Chief Dele Momodu stood with his leader, Chief M.K.O. Abiola and he was going to follow the struggle to the very end and he did indeed.

Chief Dele Momodu, a 1982 graduate of the prestigious University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) and a media mogul joined the Moshood Abiola presidential campaign organisation in the year 1993.

Chief Dele Momodu was later arrested and detained by the Military Government, following his stand against the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election which is generally acclaimed as the most free and fair election in the history of Nigeria. Chief Dele Momodu was punished by the reigning dictatorship of Abacha for his pro-democratic views but he was undeterred because more than anything else, he was loyal to his then boss, Chief M.K.O. Abiola and more still he was a democratic force to reckon with any day any time as long as he keeps breathing.

In the year 1995, the Abacha Government planned to re-arrest Chief Dele Momodu as he was already charged with treason by the dictatorship Government of Sani Abacha. Chief Dele Momodu was accused of being one of the brains behind the famous Radio Freedom (later Radio Kudirat).

Chief Dele Momodu managed to escape through the Seme border into Cotonou, in Benin Republic, from where he went into exile to Togo, Ghana and eventually to the United Kingdom.

For three agonising years afterwards, he could not re-enter Nigeria, because the Abacha Government was on the look-out for him to perhaps go as far as taking his life as Abacha was relentless in his bid to ensure democracy never again nears the shores of Nigeria under any guise.

As we solemnly remember these events thirty years after even in the memory of their defining moments, it is just and fair that anti-democratic forces don't get to attempt to re-write history by taking the glory of our democracy but rather we hope that the likes of Chief Dele Momodu who paid steep prices for our democracy to thrive and survive, and are still alive to tell the story, gets their flowers everyday and not just once a year or once a while or never at all for if we don't celebrate them now that they are still alive, it will be meaningless to themselves celebrating them after they are gone to the great beyond.

For the great sacrifices of Chief Dele Momodu thirty years ago for Nigeria's democracy, this is appreciating him for he is a person who has shown even all his life thus far what loyalty and dedication to a cause means and if not for him and his fellow comrades in the struggle thirty years ago, we may never get to know what democracy means, as a nation, especially the generations after, as the memory of democracy would have been fully wiped out even from our nation's history books by anti-democratic forces.

PoliticsEmefiele: Frank Urges DSS To Arrest Present And Past Heads Of MDAs by Itopalucky(op): 5:38pm On Jun 11, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Timi Frank, on Sunday, called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to urgently arrest and prosecute heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs of the Federal Government under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, known to have abused their offices through corrupt tendencies.
Frank in a statement in Abuja in reaction to the suspension and arrest of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, by the DSS, said other heads of critical government agencies known to have serially abused their offices and allegedly stole the common wealth of the people must be brought to book.
He listed the CEO’s to include the Directors General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Bashir Jamo, Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Mohammed Bello Koko, Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari and the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Muhammad Nami.
Others are the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, immediate past Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika and ex-Minister of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq.
Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, insisted that failure to arrest and prosecute these suspects known to have used their offices for selfish gain would show that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is only out to witch-hunt Emefiele now under DSS custody.
He added that without moving against the powerful cabal, the Tinubu’s administration would have lent credence to insinuations that it is only up against Christian political office holders as recently alluded to by the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-rufai.
Frank also called on the Tinubu’s administration to include beneficiaries of corruption proceeds from the affected MDAs in its list of suspects to be arrested and prosecuted.
According to him, “Those who illegally benefited from illegal allocation of oil blocks and marginal oil fields championed by the NNPCL and the CBN’s Money Redesign Policy must be fished out and prosecuted.
“The execution of the National Social Investment Programme by Hajiya Farouk leaves a lot of questions to be answered. This is the time for Nigerians to know what really happened and how much was used to feed school pupils at home during COVID.
“The recent deception by Sirika who chattered an Ethiopian Airline Aircraft to deceive Nigerians that Nigeria Air has materialized must also be probed. Personal Assistant to ex-President Buhari, Tunde Sabiu must not be left out.”

Politics“I Admire President Tinubu’s Proactive Measures With Governance” – Tejere by Itopalucky(op): 11:11pm On Jun 10, 2023
An Industrialist and social commentator, TEJERE JOLOMI THOMAS has thrown his bags of accolades over the proactive measure taken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the past one week. He believes that his administration will exude critical change in the business space, owing to the flexible policies and bills passed.

I am very excited at the level of proactive measures displayed by President Tinubu and his administration. Though his cabinet has not been fully formed; they have hit the ground running and are showing that they will surely renew the hopes of Nigerians. Nigeria needs total overhauling in every area. We should all rally support President Tinubu so he can perform practically. He has shown that he has everything it takes to drive this country to the promised land. He did it in Lagos, and I am confident he will replicate the same excellence in transforming Nigeria.” He said.

Mr. Tejere Jolomi Thomas also emphasizes the outright values former Militant Leader, Government Ekpemupolo, has brought to the Nigerian economy over the last couple of months, with the contract given to his company to surveil pipelines nationwide.

While some felt it is unnecessary as they argue that such contracts adds no value to the esteem of an administration that had promised not to reward 'ex-militants' with medals; others emphasized on the extensive tendencies Nigeria would have to protect her safe economic haven.

Speaking at the 49th session of the state house briefing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja in October 2022, Mele Kyari, the chief executive officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, said the decision was necessitated by the need for Nigeria to hire private contractors to man its oil pipeline network nationwide due to massive oil theft.

“To keep the country’s most reliable economic source safe and intact, the Nigerian government employed the services of Tompolo through his company, Tantita Security Limited. Without mincing words, he seems to have all his duck in a roll. Discovering over a hundred illegal pipelines across the Niger Delta regions is an economic achievement for the Nigerian government. One would easily say Mr. Tompolo is ticking all the boxes on the checklist when it comes to deliverables.” Mr. Tejere further probe.

"Tompolo is a phenomenal leader. He has spent most of his time thinking about his people. He is so concerned about their well-being. I admire some of the things he has done for the people of Niger Delta for many years. He understands his onion and has helped the Nigerian government in finding proper sanity in all the oil region. This administration has enjoyed the dividends of bringing him on board. He is one guy who likes a highly motivated and educated populace to spur high-tech boom and bring rapid economic development to the country. He is one guy every administration would need in protecting our economic splendour”, Mr. Tejere asserted.

For many alike, continuity is a preferable option for Tactita Security Limited to facilitate smooth sail across the Niger Delta, while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues his desire to secure the country’s economy.

BusinessHindenburg Research: A Notorious Corporate Mafia Out To Ruin Unsuspecting Firms by Itopalucky(op): 1:41pm On Jun 10, 2023
By Seunmanuel Faleye

Recently, Tingo Inc., an African fintech and Agri-tech powerhouse was embroiled in a web of deceit spun by Hindenburg Research, a notorious activist short-seller. A probe into the activities of Hindenburg Research reveals that they are a ring of notorious corporate mafia out to wreck unsuspecting innovations and corporations around the world, with the aim of profiting from it.

Hindenburg Research is famous for its alarmist tendencies in blowing up orchestrated reports and circulating the same in the media, with the aim to manipulate the market and profit from the ensuing decline in their victim's share price. Hindenburg Research, known for its sensationalist tactics, is far from a reliable source of information. Its track record is tainted with attacks on prosperous companies through dubious allegations and distorted narratives. Hindenburg has been criticized by conscious lookers on the sideline, who understand their sinister game of spreading misleading information, cherry-picking data to suit its agenda, overlooking pertinent facts, and exhibiting conflicts of interest.

Tingo Inc. is not the sole target of Hindenburg's smear campaign. Another prominent Nigerian company, Jumia Group, an e-commerce platform operating across Africa and the Middle East, also faced Hindenburg's relentless assault. Hindenburg published a report labeling Jumia Group a "fraudulent scheme" with inflated sales and customer numbers. Consequently, Jumia Group's stock plummeted by 50% on the New York Stock Exchange. However, Jumia Group staunchly refuted the report, expressing confidence in its financial reporting and governance. The company took further action by filing a complaint with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Hindenburg for market manipulation.

This episode highlights yet another instance where Hindenburg deployed false or misleading information to manipulate the market and profit from short-selling. The list of companies that Hindenburg has attempted to tarnish for similar ulterior motives goes beyond Tingo Inc. and Jumia Group. Nikola, an electric vehicle maker suffered a significant blow after Hindenburg accused them of deceptive practices surrounding their technology and capabilities. DraftKings, a prominent sports betting firm, faced SEC scrutiny due to Hindenburg's allegations of potential facilitation of illegal betting. Lordstown Motors, an electric truck manufacturer, came under federal investigation following Hindenburg's claims of exaggerated customer demand. Even Adani Group, one of India's largest multinational conglomerates, witnessed a staggering $70 billion loss in market value after Hindenburg accused them of stock price manipulation and falsifying accounts.

Hindenburg's nefarious campaign against unsuspecting coporations around the world is evident in their recent attacks on Tingo Inc. By spreading false information and manipulating the market, Hindenburg aims to profit from the decline in stock prices. These actions not only harm the companies directly targeted but also undermine confidence in African businesses and hinder the growth of the technology sector in the region.

The motives behind Hindenburg's actions become even more questionable when one examines the integrity of the research firm itself. Hindenburg Research is currently under investigation by the FBI, and numerous concerns have been raised about its lack of transparency regarding its origins and financial reports. It is ironic that a company claiming to expose corporate wrongdoing is itself facing scrutiny for its own questionable practices.

It is evident that Hindenburg Research operates as a notorious corporate mafia, targeting African innovation and seeking to profit from the resulting damage. Their tactics involve spreading false information, manipulating markets, and creating fear and doubt among investors. African businesses, like Tingo Inc. and Jumia Group, have been unjustly targeted, causing significant harm to their operations and undermining their potential for growth.

It is crucial for regulators, investors, and the public to be aware of Hindenburg Research's deceptive practices and their ulterior motives. Companies like Tingo Inc. and Jumia Group are valuable contributors to the African innovation ecosystem, and their potential should not be undermined by the actions of unscrupulous actors. The African technology sector holds great promise for the continent's economic development, and it is essential to protect it from the malicious campaigns of Hindenburg Research and similar entities.

PoliticsMammoth Crowd As Emmanuel Bassey Thanks God, Constituents For Successful Tenure by Itopalucky(op): 9:50am On Jun 06, 2023
The serenity of Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) on the hills of Obotme Iwerre came alive Sunday, June 4, 2023 as the Chief Whip of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Member Ini State Constituency Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Bassey led family, friends, well-wishers, and PDP faithful to a Valedictory Thanksgiving Service to celebrate God's faithfulness upon his life and family for the successful eight years of stewardship to the people of Ini. The event had as its theme “Sacrifices of Thanksgiving” drawn from Psalms 50:14.

The physically elated Hon. Bassey acknowledged the sovereignty and grace of God in his life and the peace and unity shown to him by his people.

He said that he was in the Church to thank God for what He has done for him, his family, and the people of Ini for the past eight years.

“It is good to returnto God for Thanksgiving, that is why I return to tell Him thank you for bringing me thus far” Hon. Bassey said.

In his appreciation and support to the Church for their prayers, the Ini Lawmaker donated a generating set and cash to the Church.

Earlier in his sermon, the Resident Pastor, Pastor Nnanna Kanu Ogbonnaya said that our love for God and the interest in His kingdom is not a gift, but a choice, that true lovers of God are ordained as living wonders.

At the reception at Iwerre Community Secondary School, friends, political associates, community leaders, Cleric, youth, women and elders described Hon. Bassey as the best Lawmaker Ini has ever produced.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, the Lawmaker thanked the people of Ini for standing by him over the years. He also thanked his family for their support and prayers that had seen him through. He described the journey as tough and good but said that God has always been faithful and doing everything he asked for.

Highlighting some of the achievements of his stewardship, the lawmaker thanked God for giving him the wisdom to facilitate some projects in the area.

According to him, critical infrastructure such as road, coppers' lodge, school perimeter fence, and markets are some of the lofty projects he has facilitated in his constituency. He also listed many of his human capital development achievements which include; business grants worth millions of Naira, training of constituents on skills acquisition and donation of tools, donation of plots of lands, cars, motorcycles, educational supports to students and many other supports to his constituents to ameliorate their sufferings.

Hon. Bassey took time to narrate how he started his political journey that brought him to the present office.

The lawmaker emphasized that he was able to do all he did because of the overwhelming support from his former Boss, the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, specifically, for constructing the Ikpe Ikot Nkon-Iwerre-Arochukwu to ameliorate the suffering of the people of the area.

He used the occasion and solicited massive and greater support for the Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno.

Politics"Dele Momodu Is Too Contented To Be Bothered About The Villa" - Issa Itopa Lucky by Itopalucky(op): 1:46am On Jun 06, 2023
Socio-political writer, Issa Itopa Lucky has on Tuesday responded to former Presidential media aide, Tolu Ogunlesi on his Monday June 5, 2023 tweet in which he made a joke asking “When is Egbon @DeleMomodu going to the Villa?”

Issa Itopa Lucky, while responding, said; “Chief Dele Momodu is too self-contented and already-made to be seeking to be in Aso Rock aka ‘the Villa’.

“Chief Dele Momodu has a life well admired outside of politics, hence his last do-or-die desire will be to be in Aso Rock especially against his own personal principle.

“All through the 2023 Presidential campaigns, Chief Dele Momodu ran a very passionate, professional and patriotic campaign, not once did he ever sounded like somebody who will do anything beyond his personal principles and reputation to gain entrance into Aso Rock,” Issa Itopa Lucky said.

“It is ironic that the same Chief Dele Momodu that Tolu Ogunlesi and his fans are trying to troll with talks of Aso Rock, is somebody who even after supporting then opposition APC to power in 2015 was never found gate-crashing Aso Rock to identify with the APC and by 2019 he was even supporting the opposition PDP just as it suited his personal conviction at the same. For the records, Chief Dele Momodu has thus far usually been in the opposition all his life of participating in politics. In fact I will not be surprised if the Presidential Election Petition Court and ultimately the Supreme Court declares PDP the winner of the 2023 Presidential election and Chief Dele Momodu even as a loyal member of the PDP and even as a key member of the PDP 2023 Presidential campaign declines to be appointed into public office but rather chooses to be keeping the party PDP on its toes to ensure it delivers on the dividends of democracy as promised Nigerians by him and the party during the campaigns and as expected of the party.

“Worst still, this Aso Rock joke by Tolu Ogunlesi is coming at a time one of the lawyers of the INEC has already admitted in court that failing to have up to 25% votes in FCT is enough to stop a candidate from being declared President of Nigeria, a criterion that even the current occupant of Aso Rock, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu clearly lost out on and is one of the key issues at the ongoing hearings at the Presidential Election Petition Court. Clearly, Chief Dele Momodu cannot be intending to go to Aso Rock to visit people who are temporarily occupying Aso Rock. If the words of the INEC lawyer that cross-examined one of those PDP witnesses on Monday June 5, 2023 at the Presidential Election Petition Court is anything to go by, indeed Tinubu will be removed from Aso Rock for failing to get up to 25% votes in FCT as of the February 25, 2023 Presidential election by the Presidential Election Petition Court and same verdict will be upheld by the Supreme Court as the INEC lawyer definitely ought to know better about how INEC may have erred in declaring Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu winner of the 2023 Presidential election as of March 1, 2023 against the letters and the spirit of Section 134 of the 1999 Nigeria Constitution (as amended) that talks about the complete package of criteria to be used in deciding a clear winner in a Nigerian Presidential election,” Issa Itopa Lucky further said.

PoliticsDele Momodu: An "Idan Of Politics", A Man Guided By His Personal Conviction by Itopalucky(op): 9:38pm On Jun 04, 2023
By Issa Itopa Lucky

Nigeria is now in the post-2023 elections phase and while the elections including the highly disputed Presidential election are in court pending judicial verdict to lay the matters of the elections to final rest, loyalties are already being tested.

Many have fallen by the way side and are already hobnobbing with the APC even when the Presidential flag-bearer of the PDP in the 2023 elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar made it clear that the PDP won most of the 2023 elections including the Presidential election and that within a matter of time the PDP will prove it in court and retrieve most of the mandates including the Presidential mandate.

These realities have gone far to prove the weaknesses of many who are rather specialists in being inconsistent even in their partisan sojourn.

Many politicians milk their parties dry during electioneering seasons only to abandon their parties and switch camps to hobnob with the party that wins the election even while the election is in court pending court decision.

In all of these, one person whose style of politics can't escape admiration is Chief Dele Momodu, the founder and Chairman of Ovation Group.

Chief Dele Momodu is a patriot, one that fought the Military establishment even during the peak of Military rule of Nigeria when General Sani Abacha was literally jailing and killing anybody opposed to his Military rule of Nigeria; Chief Dele Momodu stood his ground all through for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria. Even when many were inconsistent in the struggle and hence they were anti-Abacha rule in the day and pro-Abacha rule at night, one person whose stand never changed even for a second, was Chief Dele Momodu. Chief Dele Momodu was anti-Military rule and anti-Abacha rule all through regardless of efforts by the Military establishment and Abacha to break his spirit and to break the ranks of the struggle for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria.

The democracy we are privileged to enjoy today as a nation, we really have Chief Dele Momodu to thank for it. It was once a struggle that later won over anti-democratic forces, hence the return of democracy by 1998 and the 1999 general elections heralding the beginning of the fourth republic that has remained till date.

Fast-forward to year 2023, there are obvious reasons to believe the Presidential election was stolen and of course, the matter is in court for the Judges to weigh the facts and decide who the real owner of the mandate is.

For a fact, as of May 29, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the current President of Nigeria. Ordinarily, except for personal conviction and politics guided strictly by principle, if Chief Dele Momodu wants to be visiting Aso Rock everyday, he easily would as himself and Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu are very familiar with each other, but Chief Dele Momodu in his usual nature of politics of principle and personal conviction has re-stated that he is with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar till the very end of at least the court processes in as much as the highly disputed 2023 Presidential election is concerned.

Is it the most juiciest of appointments Chief Dele Momodu would have wanted from Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and he will not get it? Definitely, no! Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President most definitely prays to have even somebody half of the person and quality of Chief Dele Momodu around him and he will be the happiest President ever for at least a day.

Chief Dele Momodu is a fulfilled man. He is a man of personal conviction. He is a man whose loyalty has passed all kinds of test. He is a man blessed of God, beyond measure. Chief Dele Momodu is one man Nigerian politicians should learn to emulate. Chief Dele Momodu did not make his name by betraying his party at a time by jumping at any offer made to him, but rather his participation in politics is and has mainly been not of "do or die" or of self-interest but one hinged on the patriotic desire to help better our democracy that is constantly under attack of greedy politics and corrupt tendencies.

Chief Dele Momodu is more than just who he thinks he is. He is actually an Idan (senior man) who is a role model for many even already established politicians and for very many upcoming politicians across Africa and all over the world.

Issa Itopa Lucky is a socio-political writer.

PoliticsOpinion: The Judiciary As The Odium Of Nigeria: The Case Of Akwa Ibom Governor by Itopalucky(op): 11:28am On Jun 03, 2023
By Prof. Cyprian F. Edward-Ekpo

I recollect my virtual presentation to the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner (UNOHCHR) for Human Rights in October 19, 2020 during the youth unrest in Nigeria tagged "End-SARS" protest. Many people asked why I asserted that the Nigerian youths were directing their fight to a wrong and innocent party, that the Nigerian Police is never the problem of Nigeria, rather the Policemen are equally victims of Nigerian state. The Nigerian Police was wrongly blamed.
I retorted that the judiciary has been the enabler of all atrocities committed by law enforcement agents and the officials of the Executive Arm of Government. It is the judiciary that is legally and constitutionally placed in a position to checkmate and review actions of all other arms as well as persons. Because the judiciary has surrendered its authority and integrity to dustbin of the state, and there are no consequences, that is why police brutality and other social malaises flourish in Nigeria. In fact, the ills of the Nigerian Judiciary are complex and multi-dimensional.
I was opportune to see the records of the case involving Pastor Umo Bassey Eno’s conviction by the Chief Magistrate Court, Abuja. The crux of the matter exposes a gargantuan proportion of subterfuge and perceived corruption in the FCT Judiciary, just like many other jurisdictions of Nigerian judiciary. The judiciary has positioned Nigeria in a state of international public ridicule and odium.

The story of the case of Pastor Umo Bassey Eno as found in the case record is shocking. The record speaks volume that the current Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno is alleged to have committed an offence of Cheating and Dishonestly inducing delivery of property against one Mr. Godwin Edet Etim, a former contract staff to Exxon Mobil Producing Nigeria Ltd attached to Royalty Hotels contracting service to Mobil, wherein the man forfeited wages belonging to the said Godwin Edet Etim. Despite all plea, he refused to release the money and when the said Mr. Godwin Edet Etim accosted him, he was detained by his guards in a private confinement for seven days. He also lost his daughter due to the ill-treatmeny by Mr. Umo Bassey Eno. Parts of the crimes extended to Abuja, thus leading to criminal summon against Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, his arraignment , trial and conviction pursuant to Section 325 of the Penal Code law.
An extensive trial was conducted by the Magistrate Court throughout the year 2022 until judgment was delivered on December 20, 2022 convicting Pastor Umo Eno for the alleged crimes based on the findings of the Court. The Court could not pronounce sentence due to absence of the Defendant in Court. The Court granted additional Order issuing Warrant of Arrest for sentencing. Upon service of the Warrant on the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Umo Bassey Eno instructed his lawyers to file a Motion to set aside "Issuance of Warrant of Arrest".
On the 9th day of January, 2023, the legal team of Pastor Umo Eno filed a Motion on Notice to set aside Issuance of Warrant of Arrest and filed nothing more. That is to say, was no motion to set aside the judgment and the conviction of the Court.
On the 10th day of January 2023, the Court granted an Ex-parte Order for hearing of Motion on Notice to set aside Issuance of Warrant of Arrest and the said motion affidavit undertook that Mr. Umo Eno will appear in Court as the basis for the grant of that relief. The said Order of Substituted Service which slated a hearing date for January 13, 2023 was served on the Complainant lawyers (the law firm of Law Icons Solicitors & Notaries) same date of January 10, 2023. As the record demonstrates, the complainant filed a counter affidavit and a written submission opposing the Motion to Set Aside “Issuance of Warrant of Arrest” slated for hearing on January 13, 2023 as indicated in the Court Order of Substituted Service. Known that there was no defense to the crime allegedly committed, tried and convicted, in an obvious perfection of fraud against the judicial proceedings, when the Complainant’s lawyers arrived the Court on January 13, 2023, the matter was called from the Cause List. Neither Umo Eno’s lawyers nor the said Mr. Umo Eno made appearance in Court. As practice appeared to be, the Complainant’s lawyers urged the Court to deem Umo Eno’s application to set aside issuance of warrant of arrest abandoned and strike it out. One would be so shocked why the Magistrate, Mr. Emmanuel Iyanna had to inform them that in the absence of the Complainant and his lawyers, on the 11th day of January 2023, less than 24 hours after service of Order of Substituted Service on the complainant lawyers to appear on 13th January 2023 for hearing, he had set aside the judgment of the December 20, 2022 which convicted Pastor Umo Bassey Eno when a date for hearing of Motion to Set Aside Issuance of Warrant of Arrest was slated for January 13, 2023. Only corruption or mental health crisis could have given birth to such a fraudulent proceedings.
Eralier, on the 10th day of January 2023, the print and social media were awash with news of alleged bribery, and fingers pointed at the Chief Judge of High Court of FCT, Hon. Justice Husseini Yusuf and the Magistrate, Hon. Emmanuel Iyanna alleging that they met same day in Lagos with the aides of the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, where Dollars were exchanging hands. However, this remains in the realm of allegation, but such proceedings would force one to be swayed by the antics of media blackmail on the judicial officers.
What is more surprising, the complainant’s lawyers have insisted that the said Magistrate Court did not sit on the 11th January 2023, such proceedings could only have held at the Magistrate House, in the bush or another world, but not the open Court. They also claimed that they applied and obtained the Cause List of 11th January 2023 and the Court did not sit.
What is more, the Complainant filed appeal against what he regarded as “Fraudulent Proceedings” seeking the Appellate Unit of the High Court of FCT to set aside the alleged fraudulent proceedings of 11th January 2023 and pronounce sentence on Mr. Umo Bassey Eno, including binding him from holding public office in Nigeria for ridiculing judicial proceedings.
Both Appellant and the Defendant had exchanged briefs of appeal with the one of Umo Eno appearing with no answer to the issue of fraudulent proceedings of January 11, 2023.
The Appeal was fixed for hearing on May 4, 2023. Surprisingly, the media was again awash alleging that the Chief Judge of FCT, Hon. Justice Husseini Yusuf had been compromised by aides of former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel to cause him to intervene and stop the appeal from being heard until after May 29, 2023 when they can plead immunity clause to free Umo Eno perpetually.
In what appears to have manifested the allegation of compromising the appeal hearing, on the 2nd day of May 2023, the Chief Judge of FCT suddenly suspended the appeal and dislodged the appeal panel via a directive. Angered by the complainant lawyers, they wrote a letter to him demanding that an appeal panel be reconstituted and the appeal must be heard within seven days. They also informed the National Judicial Council of the ugly development. The FCT Chief Judge obliged the request and reconstituted another appeal panel with new judge, Hon. Justice Belgore presiding and Hon. Justice M. B. Idris assisting.
The matter was slated for hearing on the 17th day of May 2023. On the 16th day of May 2023, Pastor Umo Eno Counsel led by Uwemedimo Nwoko, SAN and Paul Usoro, SAN who had filed their briefs as early as April 2023 without reference to supplementary record, filed a Supplementary Record alleging that there was a hearing notice served directly on the complainant counsel on the 10th day of January 2023 which informed of hearing on the 11th day of January 2023. It seems clearly that the tactics was to enable the Court delay proceedings until after May 29th 2023 as Umo Eno appeared to have no defense in the matter. Such a supplementary record could only become an issue if there was a background discussion between the Court and Umo Eno’s team on what could be a way out.
One may ask, could the Magistrate Court which issued an Order of Substituted Service dated 10th January 2023 with a hearing date of January 13, 2023 also on the same 10th January 2023 issue another hearing notice for hearing on the 11th day of January 2023?
Even the deaf will perceive this level of fraud.
A lawyer by the name Aputazie Chinyere Laura, Esq. in the law firm of Law Icons Solicitors & Notaries impugned the seemingly fraudulent supplementary record. The Bailiff of the Magistrate court whose name appeared in the purported certificate of service, one Mr. Daniel Ochai has also deposed to an affidavit refuting his knowledge of such certificate of service to the supplementary record of Umo Eno alleging that it is forgery. That he did not serve the complainant lawyers any hearing notice for hearing on 11th January 2023. That as a court official his knowledge of proceedings was hearing of 13th January 2023 which was served by his colleague and not him.
During the proceedings of May 17th, 2023, Justice Belgore of FCT High Court adjourned the matter to May 24, 2023 despite granting a motion filed by the Complainant lawyers for an Order of Accelerated Proceedings to hear and determine the matter before May 29, 2023.
On May 24, 2023, all effort of Ibrahim Idris, SAN, counsel brought in to lead the complainant’s team, to urge the Court to allow counsel adopt the processes for the Court to deliver judgment on the appeal proved abortive as the Judge was seen to be guided by Paul Usoro, SAN to divert from the business of the Court to an issue that a lawyer from Law Icons chambers deposed to an affidavit challenging the alleged fraudulent supplementary record. The judge adjourned to May 25, 2023 for ruling on the Plaintiff legal representation just a mere ground that a lawyer from Law Icons deposed to affidavit that no hearing notice was served on her for any hearing on 11th January 2023 except an Order of substituted service which fixed hearing for 13th January 2023. The Court directed itself to a no issue and the appeal hearing was frustrated. On the 25th May 2023, the Court ruled and disqualified the law firm of Law Icons from the proceedings for challenging a fraudulent supplementary record. Who else ought to have challenged a supplementary record which any reasonable man will know is fraudulent and slot in to enable the court buy time until May 29, 2023. This is a very strange proceeding never heard of in the history of judicial proceedings anywhere in the world. On what ground can a whole law firm be disqualified on the ground that one of their lawyers challenge an alleged supplementary record for being fraudulent. Who else supposed to challenge same when Umo Eno claimed it was served on the counsel?. What law did the judge based his decision to disqualify a law firm from proceedings in the absence of professional misconduct. Attempt to disqualify Ibrahim Idris, SAN was not successful as he earlier announced that he was not working in Law Icons but was representing his own law firm leading the team.
But again, all effort of Ibrahim Idris, SAN to cause the Court to proceed to the appeal and conclude it on the 26th day of May 2023 fell on deaf ears. Paul Usoro, SAN’s request that the matter be adjourned to a far date was granted despite attention of the Judges being drawn to section 308 of the Constitution by Ibrahim Idris, SAN. Justice Belgore adjourned the matter to May 2nd 2023.
The media had already reported a leaked plot by the aides of Governor Udom Emmanuel and the FCT Judiciary to frustrate the appeal until after May 29, 2023. The Judiciary could not redeem its image.
How will such a complainant ever believe in going to court to seek redress in issues that confronts him?
One is also left to see what will play out. Will Justice Belgore continue the matter when Umo Eno’s lawyers raise an objection based on section 308 of the Constitution – the immunity clause even after they waived it and practically requested for a latter adjourned date?
I hold an opinion that in the circumstance Umo Eno is affected by the doctrine of estoppel having waived that constitutional protection in the court proceedings. I also hold an opinion that Section 308 of CFRN does not affect appeal proceedings as well as pre-election and election matters. Appeal is not a trial, and does not require the presence of Umo Eno. If my opinion is wrong, I am certain of one thing, the Court is now the one in absolute trial.
Based on what is seen on social and print media about this case, it is very unfortunate that the Court, and in deed the revered office of the Chief Judge of FCT High Court is been referenced as helping the Respondent to slur justice and render mockery to judicial proceedings. There is need to correct such impression and misrepresentation. A situation like this where the Judiciary is being seen by laymen as accomplice and helper of the rich and powerful criminal elements who can fund private pockets against justice for the downtrodden and the tenet of justice could cause loss of hope in court system and encourage self-help. It does not speak well for Nigerian judiciary. . This is just one of the awkwardness and embarrassments of Nigerian judiciary across the Federation of Nigeria.
If criminals are befriended and assisted by the judiciary to climb the ladder of power, a day will come when a functional judiciary will cease to exists, just like what happened in Nazis Germany.

The postulate of Baron de Montesquieu, the proponent of the Doctrine of Separation of Power, which said, “ There is no crueler tyranny than that which is perpetuated under the shield of law and in the name of justice “, demonstrates more than a passive refection in the character of Nigerian Judiciary.

PoliticsThe purpose of the court is to define the position of the Law – Prof Edward-Ekpo by Itopalucky(op): 6:55pm On May 28, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY_g2NTf76Q

In a recent TV interview on Arise TV, Prof. Cyprian Edward-Ekpo talked about issues bothering the Judiciary; and some of the flaws hampering our justice system.

“My opinion, I know the Supreme Court is a court of Law and a court of policy. It makes Law and it develops the Law and it redefines the Law. It has the power to do that. The Supreme Court of any country across the world (has the power to do that), but I don’t buy the idea of courts having the habit of slamming lawyers with costs. I think it impeaches the principles of the pursuit of Justice.

“The provision of Section 66A and B of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has it that the duty of the court is to entertain grievances and to address it and to give a direction on what to do, and that is how countries are governed, and that is the spirit of the Law.

“When the Justices have the habit of attacking people who approach the court, I think that technically the Judges are encroaching on the inner morality of the Law,” Prof. Cyprian Edward-Ekpo said.

Prof. Cyprian Edward-Ekpo who is also the Author of the book, ‘Law In Tears’ asserts that people go to court over grievances and/or for address of controversies and that hence the Judiciary should redefine its course.

He made it clear that the purpose of the court all over the world is to entertain grievances.

“The purpose of the court is to define what is the position of the law and that in turn gives birth to Justice. I don’t see people going to court as being frivolous,” Ekpo further said.

Ekpo said further that accusing litigants of being frivolous is another way of discouraging litigation.

“Litigation is not an offense, it is not an abnormality. Litigation is a right of all citizens,” Ekpo said.

He spoke about his book titled ‘Law in tears’ in which he addressed the corrupt nature of the Judiciary.

He condemned the idea of blackmailing Judges via any means whatsoever as he said it is not common in civilized countries.

“The Judiciary has a problem, let’s face the truth, the Nigerian Judiciary has constituted itself as an odium of the country,” Ekpo said.

He lamented that there are judgements one will read and one will wonder how the Judge who passed the judgement became a Judge.

He lamented that many at times Judges are not hired to the bench on account of merit but on account of partisan connection or connection to highly-placed people within the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC).

Politics"Give us position of Speaker of Delta State" - Delta Ijaw group tells Oborevwori by Itopalucky(op): 10:41pm On May 27, 2023
.....restates endorsement of Rt. Hon. Preyor for Speaker

Delta Ijaw Youths Council on Friday insisted that the Ijaw-land must produce Speaker of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly when the House convenes to commence its 8th Assembly.

Comrade Botuboh Clement Francis who spoke on behalf of the group called on Governor-elect Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the entire people of Delta State to support the move for Bomadi-born Rt. Hon. Kenneth Oboro Preyor to be the consensus candidate for the position of Speaker of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly, in the spirit of equity, fairness and justice and for the continued enthronement of experienced leadership needed for seamless leadership and growth and progress of the House.

The group praised the Governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for a job well as Speaker and urged him to not let his good works in the House to end with the end of his own tenure as Speaker.

"The good works of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori must continue even though he is leaving the House for a higher calling in the Government House as Governor-elect and by God's grace the incoming Governor of Delta State in less than 48 hours time from now. We are insisting that beyond us just wanting the position of Speaker to be zoned to we the people of Ijaw-land, we also want Rt. Preyor of Bomadi Local Government Area to be the consensus candidate for the position of Speaker of the State," the group said.

"Burutu Local Government Area has tasted and benefitted from the Speakership position when our leader, Rt. Hon. Solomon Funkekeme was the Speaker of the House. Also, Patani Local Government Area has benefitted via Rt. Hon. Basil O. Ganagana when he was Deputy Speaker and later Acting Speaker. The Warri axis currently has the position of Deputy Governor (outgoing). Bomadi Local Government Area is yet to produce Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly. Now is the time and we call on every stakeholder in the decision to so factor this in the decision process and see reasons why Rt. Hon. Preyor is the best man for the job," the group further said.

"For the continuation of the progress being experienced in both the Delta State House of Assembly and Delta State entirely, the 8th Delta State House of Assembly will need a competent, God-fearing and capable hand from Ijaw-land. After looking at the various options in Ijaw-land, we the Ijaw Youths Council decided to endorse Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Kenneth Oboro Preyor from Bomadi Local Government Area for the position of Speaker of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly. Rt. Hon. Preyor is a third-term Member and now a fourth-term Member-Elect and is a ranking Member of the Delta State House of Assembly.

"Our endorsement of Rt. Hon. Preyor came on the heels of the fact that he is a hardworking lawmaker and representative who has usually put the interest of the Ijaw nation and Delta State as his top priorities. He was in fact re-elected for his fourth tenure as representative of Bomadi Local Government Area because of his tireless efforts and passion for community development among many other qualities that in fact qualify him to be Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly," the group said.

Comrade Francis Botuboh, the leader of the Delta Ijaw Youths group, urged all of Ijaw-speaking Delta State and Delta South and all the good people of Delta State and all the Member-Elects to support Rt. Hon. Preyor for the position of Speaker of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly on account of his records and good qualities and the fact that he is by virtue of his re-election for fourth tenure in the House, the most ranking Member who of course understands the job of legislative business already and who will be able to lead the House in a way that the ongoing progress in the State will be easily sustained.

"If the rumoured lobby for position of SSG by somebody from Ijaw-land is true, then anyway, Ijaw-land deserves it alongside but however much part of Ijaw-land has settled for position of Speaker of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly and furthermore the Delta Ijaw Youths have already aligned with the larger interest of Ijaw-land to in the spirit of fairness, equity, justice and experienced leadership, pitched tent with Rt. Hon. Preyor from Bomadi Local Government Area. By this development, we appeal strongly to Mr Governor-elect and the rest decision-takers on this matter to not let the interest of one individual lobbying for some other position interfere with this very arrangement which is that for the continued seamless leadership of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Preyor must be Speaker as he is the highest ranking Member in the House and as Bomadi Local Government Area where he comes from, has never produced Speaker before," the Delta Ijaw Youths group said.

PoliticsHOW JUDICIARY CORRUPTION SCANDAL SPIRALLED ON UMO ENO's CONVICTION by Itopalucky(op):
By Uduak Aniekeme

More desperate efforts have been reported to stave off the evil day for Pastor Umo Eno, as Governor Udom Emmanuel is said to have increased the bribe stakes for the Judges of the FCT Appeal Panel sitting as Appellate Court reviewing the earlier reversal of Umo Eno’s conviction order, without following due process. One does not know whether or not the Judges have compromised, but the outcome of last Wednesday's proceedings will reveal the position.

Recall that on December 20, 2022 Umo Eno was convicted by an FCT Magistrate Court on charges of “cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property” in the suit marked CR/94/2022, involving one Edet Godwin Etim.

In the language of the arrest warrant issued against him “You are hereby directed to arrest the said Pastor Umo Bassey Eno and produce him before me,” ordered Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna on December 23, 2022.

A source had told The Cable newspaper that: “The warrant of arrest is based on criminal proceedings conviction conducted by the Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse, Abuja, and directed that the defendant be arrested and brought to court for sentencing having continuously refused to surrender himself to court.”

In order to stop the arrest, on the 9th day of January 2023 Umo Eno through his lawyers, Uwemedimo Nwoko, SAN and Barr. Samuel Ikpo filed a motion to set aside "Issuance of Warrant of Arrest". There was no motion filed to set aside the judgment and conviction of the court delivered against Umo Eno in December 2022.
According to the Bailiff of the Court, they served the Complainant lawyers Umo Eno's motion to set aside Issuance of Warrant of Arrest via an Order of Substituted service granted on the 10th day of January 2023 and the matter was slated for hearing of the motion on the 13th January 2023.

The complainant lawyers, the law firm of Law Icons (Solicitors and Notaries) handling the matter pro-bono, filed their counter to the motion and also filed a notice of preliminary objection on the ground that Umo Eno motion to set aside Issuance of Warrant of Arrest was incompetent.

Curiously, and in a manner of terrible fraud, when the complainant lawyers appeared in court the 13th day of January 2023, the matter was called from the Cause List, only for the same Magistrate to inform them that he had already set aside the warrant of arrest and the entire judgment on the 11th day of January, 2023 without hearing the complainant. Before this day, Umo Eno on the same Tuesday had boasted on television that the case was dead but he was not being believed since hearing date of January 13th was yet to come.

The Complainant lawyers insisted that their staffers were in the Court premises on the 11th January to apply for certified true copies of process and the court did not sit for the day. They have also obtained the cause list which shows that the court did not sit on the 11th of January a day after the order of substituted service was issued for hearing slated for 13th January 2023, the same court claimed the conviction and arrest orders were vacated.

The complainant lawyers played mature by leaving the court premises without rancour or insult to the obviously bribe taking Magistrate. Everyone was shocked about the secret proceedings of January 11th which obviously shown that the Magistrate and his accomplices sat elsewhere not the court to draw up the order. They advised the complainant to file appeal.

On the 17th January 2023, a notice of appeal was filed and served and record was moved. The Appellant and the Respondent had respectively filed their briefs of appeal and the matter was fixed for hearing on the 4th day of May 2023.
A source claimed that the Magistrate was not alone in sharing the hush cash which he is now using to enjoy vacation abroad. The FCT High Court Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Husseini Yusuf was fingered also in the early January with aides of Akwa Ibom Governor who leaked to the media that he was met in Lagos around January 8th 2023.
Upon receipt of hearing notice for the appeal that was earlier fixed to be held in May 4, 2023, another desperate move was made by Akwa Ibom Governor , Mr. Udom Emmanuel to compromise the FCT Judiciary particularly office of the Chief Judge Husseini and the head of Appeal unit, Kechere Ifeyinwa Stella.

On the 3rd day of May 2023, the Chief Judge of FCT High Court suddenly issued a directive suspending the appeal, that till further notice. The complainant lawyers angered by the slap on judicial function through administrative power, wrote a letter dated May 7, 2023 and urged the Chief Judge to set up a panel for the appeal within 7 days. The letter was also copied to the National Judiciary Council (NJC). The complainant lawyers also filed a motion for accelerated hearing citing that the appeal will become an academic exercise after May 29 swearing-in by virtue of section 308 of the Constitution therefore the matter should be decided before then, having regards to the fact the convict is now a Governor-elect.

An FCT High court sitting as Appellate Court having been approached to review the order that purportedly and unlawfully set aside Umo Eno’s conviction has been drawn into corruption scandal.

When the matter came up for review on May 17, 2023, Counsel to Umo Eno, Paul Usoro SAN, had filed a motion challenging the jurisdiction of the panel to entertain the suit, apparently in a last-minute effort to frustrate the hearing. They had previously filed similar motion and the complainant lawyers filed a counter to it to the effect that their motion is incompetent. Instead of moving the previous motion, they filed same or similar one a day to hearing being one tactics to delay the matter until May 29, to ensure the Court is fait accompli should the Judges refuse to play by their terms of cash offer.

The suit was later adjourned to May 24, 2023 for both parties to adopt their respective briefs and thereafter judgement.

However, after an extensive all-night meeting in Government House on May 17, 2023, Paul Usoro, SAN, was directed by Governor Udom Emmanuel to do everything humanly possible to compromise the Appeal panel headed by His Lordship, Justice Belgore, even if it means doubling the bribe so as to enable him send in a letter next week Wednesday, to excuse his appearance in court thereby frustrating its sitting on that day and paving the way for Umo Eno’s swearing-in on May 29th. That is the current strategy. All effort is to delay the hearing and judgment until May 29 so that the case die a natural death. They have also considered bribing the Judges to use preliminary objection and grant them favour but legal analysts who have followed the suit say that will be impossible as the appeal is tight made in law and the issue is a narrow one. One of the issues discussed at the night meeting of May 17 was that what was given the Bailiff of Magistrate Court N30Million naira to put in affidavit of service indicating that there was service of hearing notice for hearing on January 11, 2023 so as to be made into appeal record as supplementary record. But that will be another fraud blunder afterthought and will further expose Umo Eno's team of judicial fraud.

A team from Akwa Ibom State Government, led by Engr Uwem Okoko, the Managing Director of Hensek, is said to have already mobilised to Abuja, with a directive to double or triple the bribe stakes to Hon. Justice M. B. Idris and Hon. Justice Belgore, to ensure that the eventual judgement is skewed in favour of Umo Eno. What Governor Udom Emmanuel does not know is that some of his inner caucus aides do not like Umo Eno and they giving out details of the bribery in this particular case.

However, while reacting to the development, some legal analysts opined that Umo Eno’s fate appears sealed, blaming his legal team for doing a shoddy job from the beginning.

“Even if Governor Udom Emmanuel uses all the Akwa Ibom State money to engage in bribery, there is nothing any Judicial Officer will be able to do in the circumstance due to how Samuel Ikpo and Uwemedimo Nwoko, SAN jumped due process to further complicate the case for Umo Eno. The fraudulent Order that purportedly set aside warrant of arrest and conviction was signed the day the court was not sitting as complainant’s lawyers had already obtained the day's case list,” said Barr. Joseph Ibibom.

The expert explained that by operation of law and the Rules of Court, the Appellate Court has been asked to quash the fraudulent order and pronounce sentence outrightly. “Appellate Court is not where Umo Eno can even make any defense as it is not a trial court. Meanwhile what was remaining after conviction was sentencing which the arrest warrant was issued for,” he submitted.

PoliticsBasorun Aare Dele Momodu at 63: An inspiration, leader and patriot to the core by Itopalucky(op): 5:32pm On May 19, 2023
By Issa Itopa Lucky

One of the greatest gifts to humanity is the gift of leaders who inspire the next generation to greatness.

One Nigerian whose life is the definition of service to humanity is Basorun Aare Dele Momodu; the Chairman of Ovation Media Group, the publisher of Boss Newspaper, the Onu na ekwuru oha 1 of Etiti, the Basorun of Oke-Ila.

Basorun Dele Momodu has been a defender of the Nigerian democracy right from the days when democracy was a taboo in Nigeria. He is an international pro-democracy figure.

In the peak of the military dictatorship era in Nigeria, Basorun Dele Momodu stood and fought for the return of democracy in Nigeria.

The philosophy of Basorun Dele Momodu which is built around hardwork, honesty, dedication and love for one's own country is one philosophy that was greatly celebrated in Nigeria, in the United Kingdom and across the world as he clocked 63 years of age recently.

Basorun Dele Momodu is one great leader who believes alot in the best a person has to offer, regardless of his or her ethnicity, social class or religion at the time.

Basorun Dele Momodu believes in people for who they are and he believes in people for what most good possible they aspire to attain.

Basorun Dele Momodu is an inspiration for all generations to come, that whatever one sets his or her heart to achieve, as far as it is something good, he or she deserves to be supported to achieve it.

Basorun Dele Momodu is a leader who leads people to be at their best at all times. He has led many to their big breaks in life and in destiny especially in the media and entertainment industry. He has changed so many lives for good much more than he is aware of. That is how good he is. His goodness is one fact that stands to be celebrated as he has touched many lives for good. His generosity is unending and beyond comparison.

Basorun Dele Momodu is a leader that is not just a leader by title but a leader by the fact that he is reliable and dependable and that he is a leader who leaves no one behind. He hates discrimination and he has a personal dislike for cheating in all of its forms. He is a leader who will at all times protect the weak and vulnerable in a group. He is a leader who makes for equality. In fact, he regards all humans in their merits and not in any way that seems discriminatory.

Lastly, Basorun Dele Momodu is a patriot to the core. If there are ten persons who fought for the democracy of Nigeria in the heat of the war against democracy in Nigeria in the early 90s, Dele Momodu is one.

Basorun Dele Momodu followed the ways and philosophy of former President of Nigeria, Chief MKO Abiola (GCFR) to the very end even under the most uncomfortable of circumstances.

Basorun Dele Momodu has constantly made it a duty to keep Governments on their toes. He has usually been in opposition as it gives him the opportunity to keep Governments in check and to give his very best towards repositioning of Nigeria for good. He has matched the streets of Nigeria in protest against bad governance time and time again regardless of who is President.

Basorun Dele Momodu is a great person, he is an inspiration, he is a leader and he is a patriot to the core.

Happy 63rd birthday to him. I wish him many more happy birthdays to come and I wish him more and more prosperity in good health.

I pray that his love for Nigeria and for Africa continues to wax stronger and stronger and that may it never wax cold. This current generation of young writers and young media enthusiasts that have had the opportunity to work with him are beyond what words can satisfactorily explain, grateful to him as meeting him has changed their lives for good and it has given hope and value to their talents and giftings in life.

Basorun Aare Dele Momodu is indeed an inspiration, a leader and a patriot to the core and for those critical qualities that he embodies, he deserves to be celebrated everyday beyond just his birthdays alone.

PoliticsTimi Frank to International Community: Steer clear of Tinubu's inauguration by Itopalucky(op): 9:14am On May 15, 2023
A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has urged the International Community to disassociate themselves and also steer clear of the proposed inauguration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Frank who described such event as illegal, specifically called on the United State of America, United Kingdom, European Union, African Union and ECOWAS among others, "to as a matter of integrity steer clear from any form of preparations or attendance of the planned inauguration."

In a statement released Monday in Abuja, Timi Frank said it will be in the best interest of the International Community to properly ascertain the mood of the country and allow for all litigations and closure on the outcome of the electoral cases in court before lending support to whomsoever is declared as the authentic winner of the recently conducted elections in Nigeria.

According to the Bayelsa born political activist, save for the voice of reason, the aftermath of the declaration of the Presidential results would have turned sour, but for the timely appeal by the various opposition leaders to their supporters in seeking redress at the courts as the only constitutional recognized means in challenging an illegality.

He said: "As last minute preparations for the inauguration of an illegality continues to dominate the political and social space in Nigeria, we are poised to advise all intending invitees especially the international community to steer clear from any of such events, as more Nigerians continue to disassociate themselves from being a part of this grand conspiracy foisted on the Nigerian people by dubious state actors, using instruments of coercion and manipulation in subverting the will of the people.

"Never have we witnessed such brazen criminality perpetrated by an electoral umpire and the ruling party in disenfranchising the majority of the people by conniving with other agencies of government to ensure victory by all means to a particular candidate.

"The hasty announcement of the Presidential results by the electoral umpire, who is also a major accomplice in this regard, came as a shock to many, when the electoral body itself failed to use its own stipulated guidelines in the declaration of results.

"By blatantly refusing to follow its own procedure in the final declarations of results as announced earlier to all Nigerians by the INEC chief, it will be safe to conclude that the last minute change of plans was the final icing on the cake in ensuring that the will of the people is subverted and truncated by any means necessary.

"In the light of the aforementioned, I would like to call on all members of the international community, especially the US, UK, EU, AU, ECOWAS and others to as a matter of integrity steer clear from any form of preparations or attendance of the planned inauguration.

"Accepting to be present for this all time charade, which is already subjudice will subsequently give credence to this illegality by the various governments which you represent. It will be in your best interest to properly ascertain the mood of the country and allow for all litigations and closure on this matter before you lend your support to whomsoever is declared as the authentic winner of the elections.

"Furthermore, the support for constitutional democracy as practiced by the US, UK and the EU states cannot be overemphasized. Therefore, the international community must disassociate itself forthwith from plans to attend any inauguration, until the will of the people is expressly determined by the judiciary."

Frank, Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, said any form of congratulatory messages or acceptability demonstrated by representatives of various countries in Nigeria "will further suggest that indeed your governments are accomplices in disenfranchising the good people of Nigeria of a functional democracy as practiced and preached by your various governments.

"It will be foolhardy and catastrophic to join in endorsing an illegitimate process leading to the forming of a government, which is clearly not in tandem with your values.

"I will like to therefore, seek your understanding in boycotting any of such invitations aimed at undermining our hard earned democracy. Let your voices be made clear once and for all in ensuring that the proper process leading to the declaration of a winner is followed and accepted by all Nigerians in this regard."

Politics10th NASS: Hon. Abbas Tajudeen is in the race to win by Itopalucky(op): 8:10pm On May 12, 2023
For Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, he would have preferred not to be engaged in a power tussle and the endless backlash that has trailed his endorsement that is backed by President-Elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the position of Speaker of the 10th National Assembly of Nigeria except for the back and forth discontentment and divided opinions that have engulfed the President-Elect's choice to choose whose voice would echo leadership activities at the House of Representatives. While many feel Party influence in the scheme of things affects the plausible values of democratic selection, zoning two National Assembly leadership positions to the North-west doesn’t seem to appeal to many of the Members-elect across Party line.

During a recent chat with Osbourne Ogwell of the Africa Bloggers Forum, a public policy analyst and socio-political commentator, Daniel Ebo talked about the potentials of the 10th National Assembly. He also spoke on Hon. Abbas Tajudeen capabilities in changing the conventional narratives of the National Assembly leadership.

"The 10th National Assembly leadership seems to hold alot of potentials. Anybody who gets Asiwaju's endorsement and recommendation is a deserving of it. He knows how to converge the right persons into the helm of leadership. The case of Hon. Abbas' selection as Speaker should be celebrated. I have known him for a very long time now. He is one of those who tick all boxes in the checklist. He has served as Member and Chairman of various committees at the National Assembly. He is not just a highly experienced politician, he knows his onions," Daniel Ebo said.

Daniel Ebo also laid emphasis on the spread of Hon. Abbas Tajudeen's tendencies and his scorecard in the private sector.

"Hon. Abass has shown that he is a pin-up guy for the job. Look at the number of bills he sponsored in the 9th House of Representatives. Driving over 75 bills within the life of the National Assembly is remarkable. His courage and vision is essential and necessary for today’s solution to the country’s institutional problems. He places a high premium in creating more ideas that will connect NASS with the needs of millions of Nigerians. He is one guy who likes a highly-motivated and educated populace to spur high tech boom and bring rapid development to the country,” he further asserted.

According to Hon. Abbas; his scorecards and track records are obvious.

“The fact that you contribute more than any other Member in the 9th Assembly? You are qualified based on public and private sector experience. Does that make me weak? What people need to understand is they need to go and look at the pedigree and the antecedents of every Member, the issue of being rubber-stamp is neither here nor there,” Hon. Abbas said.

“The North-West has seven States and in the last election, we gave the President-elect more than 2.7 million votes. In every presidential election before now, the region that gave the highest votes is almost always the North-West. Secondly, the North-West has 93 members out of 360 which is almost 26 percent of the entire Members of the House of Reps; that is another factor that needs to be considered," Hon. Abbas concluded.

Hon. Abbas Tajudeen stands on the notion that his candidacy statisfies both zoning and merit criteria. He is particular about what he can bring on board to keep Nigerians on the beneficial podiums. He is very familiar with sector-based investments that can propel economic diversity.

As the coming days unfold, will Hon. Abbas Tajudeen splendid form in the 8th and 9th Assembly continue as the 10th Assembly warms up ahead of June 3rd, 2023? Only time will tell but definitely Hon. Abbas Tajudeen is the candidate to beat.

HealthMeet Beryl Ogwell: The Kenyan Hair Stylist Making Cancer Patients Look Beautiful by Itopalucky(op):
In a recent interview with Ebony Glamour Magazine, top Kenyan Hairstylist Beryl Ogwell spoke about 'Beauty for Cancer Patients Initiative'. A few months ago, she partnered with the Chief Executive of The Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nana Wanjikugecaga, in giving a clear breath on the faces of Cancer Patients.

They visited Mellen Ngangara, a stage four cancer patient. Mellen was chosen as winner of the Initiative, which is hosted by Nana Wanjikugecaga in conjunction with Beryl Ogwell's B-Luxury Store.

Madam Mellen underwent six rounds of chemotherapy in India and a surgery that was all successful. With all Mallen went through, they decided to use the initiative to give her pampering treat filled with some love. They beautifully did her makeup, fixed her hair, and took her for a photoshoot so she could have a reflection of her beautiful self.

Beryl Ogwell is labelled as one of the most influential hair stylists in East Africa. She has recorded about a decade of professional hair service delivery, and we're inclined to agree that she has created new narratives in the beauty industry across Africa.

With just a small glance at her client list, there is no wonder why she holds a stake in changing the dynamics on how gallant a woman can approach her true beauty. She def ines beauty with gravitas and guile. Her passion for hair started as a child. As a kid, she was already creating wigs for her dolls as she believed everyone, including her dolls, should have multiple looks without having to cut or colour their hair.

Combining that talent with her hard work, she built an impressive portfolio while working for a host of top African celebrities and industry stakeholders. PoliticsFrank Urges Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Justices To Uphold Integrity by Itopalucky(op): 10:08am On May 05, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Friday, urged the Justices of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) to be guided by integrity, truth and fear of God in the discharge of their crucial national assignment.

Frank in a statement in Abuja reminded the five Justices of the court to be mindful of the great expectation of Nigerians who see them as the last hope in redressing discontent that emanated from obvious manipulation and rigging of the February 25, 2023, Presidential election.

He urged them to painstakingly sift the petitions before them, examine arguments for and against made by petitioners and defendants and unbiased reach a decision based on facts and unassailable truth.

He warned them against resort to legal technicalities in taking their final decisions, saying such an action is capable of completely eroding the confidence reposed in the judiciary by the oppressed and marginalized petitioners whose electoral mandates have been brazenly stolen.

Frank said: “As the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal begins its hearing and determination of suits brought before it, it is noteworthy that the enthusiasm and expectation of Nigerians is at an all-time high, which signifies a renewed hope in the judiciary as an unbiased arbiter.

“The five Justices who have been selected for this arduous task are aware of the magnitude of the assignment before them, and therefore, must ensure that they uphold the high sense of integrity expected of them as Justices of the Court of Appeal.

“The overall consideration and subsequent decision of the tribunal must be seen to reflect the basis for judicial decisions, which are the products of two fixed elements: the facts and the rule of law.

“Therefore all the features of a good judgment are expected to be demonstrated by the Justices in an accurate, succinct, factual and vivid manner.

“The Justices must be reminded that the fate of the nation is currently in their hands, and the least responsibility expected by Nigerians is their unalloyed loyalty to the people and their oaths of allegiance to the Nigerian Constitution.

“They must resist any form of pressure from whomsoever whether within or without. The Justices must display utmost uprightness as Nigeria will be in the spotlight of international stakeholders and citizens eager to follow the proceedings.”

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, insisted that expectations of Nigerians who feel disenfranchised should be the main cause of worry for the Justices.

According to him, “the total disregard by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in adhering to its set procedures and denying same is a shame to say the least, notwithstanding the earlier position of its National Chairman affirming to follow the electoral guidelines.

“It is rather appalling that several months after the conduct of the Presidential elections, we're still confronted with unuploaded results on the IREV Portal. Therefore utmost importance to details rather than technicality must be the bedrock in determining the conduct of the 2023 General elections.

“The Presidential Tribunal must adhere to strict compliance with the timeframe for the tribunal’s sitting as stipulated in the revised Electoral Act, as so much time has already been expended unnecessarily.

“The call for a speedy judgement before the May 29th 2023 handover date is sacrosanct and must be respected. We want to remind the Honourable Justices to do their own part in delivering a just judgement, while we look up to the Supreme Court for its final ruling.

“We do not expect anything less, otherwise the Nigerian people will hold the Justices liable for any eventuality.

“Furthermore, we urge all friends and stakeholders of the Nigeria project to also lend a voice in ensuring that the judiciary upholds the dignity and integrity expected of them.

“We are hopeful that there is a more sense of reasoning, rather than technicality that will aid in the final determination of the various Appeals.

“Let the Justices also remember as stated in the book of Psalms that they can stand boldly on the truth and have confidence that no matter how big the mountains or the giants are, with God they are surmountable!

“He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings shall you trust: His truth shall be your shield and buckler.” - Psalm 91:4

PoliticsDelta Ijaw Youths Council endorses Rt. Hon. Preyor for Delta State Speaker by Itopalucky(op): 6:40pm On May 01, 2023
The umbrella body of Delta Ijaw Youth Council under the leadership of Comrade Botuboh Clement Francis has on Monday called on the attention of Ijaw-speaking indegenes of Delta State and the Government of Delta State to see reasons why the 8th Delta State House of Assembly should consider a representative of Bomadi Local Government as Speaker of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly.

Comrade Francis lamented that Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State has been neglected especially in terms of State functions and worst still in terms of State legislative business.

He called on the people of Delta South to support the move for a Bomadi indegene to be the consensus candidate of Delta South in the spirit of equity, fairness and justice for the position of Speaker of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly.

The Warri axis currently has the position of Deputy Governor (outgoing)," Comrade Francis said.

"For the continuation of the progress being experienced in Delta State, the 8th Delta State House of Assembly will need a competent, God-fearing and capable hand. After looking at the various options, the Ijaw Youths Council has decided to endorse Rt.

"The endorsement came on the heels of the fact that he is a hardworking lawmaker and representative who has usually put the interest of the Ijaw nation and Delta State as his top priorities. He was in fact re-elected for his fourth tenure as representative of Bomadi Local Government Area because of his tireless efforts and passion for community development among many other qualities that in fact qualify him to be Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly," Comrade Francis further said.

Comrade Francis urged all of Ijaw-speaking Delta State and Delta South and all the good people of Delta State and all the Member-Elects to support Rt.

PoliticsFrank To Sylva: You Are A Serial Liar, Tell Nigerians About Your True Identity by Itopalucky(op): 12:20pm On Apr 28, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Friday, described a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, as a serial liar and urged him to tell Nigerians his real identity and the authenticity of his academic certificates.

Frank made this call in Abuja in reaction to a statement by Sylva in which he denied any wrongdoing for parading multiple names but failed to address germane issues concerning his true identity and academic qualifications but rather resorted to name calling and insults.

The Bayelsa-born political activist had earlier in a petition to the National Assembly, Nigeria Police Force and Department of State Services (DSS), among others, called for urgent and thorough investigation into the name and certificates being paraded by the immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.

However, Sylva in a statement signed by one Horatius Egua, labeled Frank a “political prostitute, blackmailer and jobber” without advancing any cogent proof to resolve the glaring discrepancies in the names in his academic certificates now fueling suspicion about his true identity and allegations of certificate forgery.

Frank said: “If there is anybody that is a blackmailer, it is Sylva who has continued to parade different names to present himself as Governor and Minister.

“It is not enough for Sylva to call me all sorts of names with abuses, but let him tell the public his true identity and prove that his academic certificates which is the issue at stake are genuine.

“As a Public Servant who has been opportune to govern Bayelsa State, served as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and presently warming up to be re-elected as Governor, the people of the state in particular and Nigerians in general deserve to know who Timipre Sylva is.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the onus lies on the ex-minister to present unassailable proof as to why he waited till 2022 to gazette his correct name which had kept changing like a chameleon over the years.

“For instance, who is Anagha Timipere, Marlin Anagha Timipre, Anagha Timipre Marlin and Chief Timipre Sylva as contained in his Primary School certificate, WAEC certificate, first degree certificate and postgraduate certificate respectively?

“He claimed that the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi was his classmate and the Governor-Elect of Abia State, Alex Otti, was his contemporary at the University of Port Harcourt.

“The question is, by which name or names did Amaechi or Otti know or call him at the time because his first degree certificate after graduation in 1986 did not reflect Timipre Sylva which is his current name.

“Amaechi and Otti are very much alive, let them tell Nigerians by what name they knew Sylva then?

“Again, he claimed that the certificate forgery case against him at a Federal High Court in Abuja was dismissed in 2023, but I make bold to say the case was not dismissed for lack of merit but that Transparency Advocacy for Development Initiative (TADI), who were the petitioners/plaintiffs applied to discontinue the case.

“Our investigation revealed that in processes Sylva filed in support of a libel case in America, he claimed that he first changed his name in 1987 but in a statement he issued three days ago, he said he changed his name in 2022 and gazetted it.

“This in a nutshell shows a man who is not only dodgy about his true identity but a serial liar who has succeeded in attaining top political positions in the country based on dubious names and credentials and who is therefore, not qualified to rule Bayelsa state again.

“Let Sylva know that his attempt to politicize this grave issue has failed. Bayelsans and Nigerians will continue to ask him to come clean on his name and I, Comrade Timi Frank, would be at vanguard of that crusade irrespective of intimidation, name calling, harassment and divers attacks from Sylva.”

He further called on the National Assembly and relevant security agencies to expedite action on his petition so as to establish the truth or otherwise concerning the allegations.

PoliticsAbbas Umar Masanawa: A Public Servant Blazing The Trail In Service To His Nation by Itopalucky(op): 6:58pm On Apr 27, 2023
When Mr. Abbas Umar Masanawa assumed office as Managing Director of Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC) on August 2018, the Mint company was just recovering from being a moribund organization burdened on all sides with heavy losses.

Since 2018, the Mint company grew from a loss position of N14.6million in 2014 to a profit position of N14.3billion in 2018.

Expressly and evidently, immediately Mr. Abbas Umar Masanawa took over the mantle of leadership of the Mint company, the company's turnover grew drastically. Even after his resignation as MD in 2022, the Mint company has continued to record profit in geometric proportions.

Before resigning to pursue his political career, Mr. Masanawa brought a host of innovative reforms that spiked the values of NSPMC. He lead a clinical mileage that enhanced production capacity, revenue diversification, reduced cost of production, the institutionalization of corporate governance. His leadership tendencies helped in the improvement of staff welfare, while creating industrial harmony.

Mr. Abbas leveraged on areas that needed swift attention, he used every moment in enhancing the strength of national security and integrity as well as conserving scarce foreign exchange, improving revenue generation, creating job opportunities and boosting acquisition/transfer of technology.

One would easily say Mr. Abbas Umar Masanawa picked himself up and rose through the ranks into enviable positions in the financial sector. He feels better rolling through the course of growth. They say his scorecards are not well analyzed enough, considering what he has given into service. With over 17 years of banking experience and rising to the position of Deputy General Manager in Zenith Bank PLC in the year 2014 before he left to serve as a Special Assistant to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Abbas is indeed a spectacle of service to behold.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Ahmadu Bello University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Maiduguri. He has also earned other essential certificates from the Harvard Business School, London Business School, and the University of Oxford. Now Board Chairman of the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL Plc), a US$500million Non-Bank Financial Institution wholly-owned by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) created to redefine, re-dimension, measure, re-Price and share agribusiness-related credit risks in Nigeria, Mr. Masanawa Umar Abbas seems to be holding his own and making his mark in the scheme of things in the country’s economy. He is indeed leading the way while others to come in the future, follows. No doubt, he is walking today that future generations may fly. He is laying the roadmap to Nigeria's prosperity in the world of financing agribusiness.

According to Angela Ebo, an economist from Global Reformation Development Centre who showered praises on Mr Abbas' achievements and expressed satisfaction that he is currently the Board Chair of NIRSAL Plc, "I believe in his tendencies in public service."

"I am very happy Mr. (Abbas) Masanawa is the current Board Chairman of NIRSAL. Without mincing words, he has showed remarkable courage as a leader. He carried out robust and courageous reforms while he was MD of NSPMC. His courage and vision was essential and necessary for today’s solution to the country’s Agro-economy, as he placed a high premium in creating more ideas that will connect NIRSAL with the need of millions of Nigerians. You know Nigerians don't seem to have an overall idea of the functionality of NIRSAL in economical growth. He is one guy who likes a highly-motivated and educated populace to spur high tech boom and bring rapid agro-economic development to the country," she further asserted.
