PoliticsFrank Petitions NASS, DSS Over Alleged Forgery, Identity Theft By Timipere Sylva by Itopalucky(op): 12:18pm On Apr 26, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has called on the National Assembly, Nigeria Police Force and Department of State Services, among others, to urgently commence investigation of the immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva over alleged certificate forgery and identity theft.

Sylva who is a former Governor of Bayelsa State recently emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the APC in Bayelsa State.

Frank made these request in a petition he addressed through his solicitors to the Senate President, Speaker, House of Representatives, Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the DSS, among others, on the matter.

In the petition, dated March 31, 2023, and signed by the Principal Partner of Graylaw Practice LP, Edward Omaga Esq., Frank urged the National Assembly to summon Sylva and officials from his alma maters in Nigeria and Switzerland to explain the inconsistencies in the identity of the politician.

According to the petitioner, Sylva’s primary school certificate carried his name as Anagha Timipere as evident in documents the ex-Minister filed before a court in the United States as part of an ongoing defamation suit brought by his lawyers.

He said Anagha Timipere was different from Marlin Anagha Timipre, which is the name on Sylva’s WAEC certificate.

He claimed that the ex-petroleum minister had also obtained his bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Port-Harcourt, with the certificate bearing Anagha Timipre Marlin.

He insisted that this clearly contradicted Sylva’s 2011 doctoral degree certificate in International Relations from Ubis University, Switzerland, with the name Chief Timipre Sylva.

He further claimed that Sylva neither participated in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme nor did he obtain an exemption certificate as required by law.

The petition reads in part: “Obviously, the certificates mentioned above have visible anomalies and do not depict the true identity of CHIEF TIMPRE SYLVA. It is confusing as to who CHIEF TIMIPRE SYLVA is; who ANAGHA TIMIPRE MARLIN is; who MARLIN ANAGHA TIMIPRE is and who ANAGHA TIMIPERE is.

“There is no evidence anywhere showing that CHIEF TIMPRE SYLVA ever changed his name from ANAGHA TIMIPRE MARLIN to TIMIPRE SYLVA in 1986 after he purportedly graduated from University of Port Harcourt,” stated the petition.

“Investigation by our client reveals that there is also no record that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources has National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Discharge or Exemption Certificate, as the case may be, either in the name of ANAGHA TIMIPRE MARLIN or TIMIPRE SYLVA.”

The obvious discrepancies in the documents caused the petitioner to insist that Sylva may have forged his academic certificates or had them stolen from a third party, “an offence that violates Section 438 of the Criminal Code Act and carries a 14-year prison sentence.”

He urged both chambers of the National Assembly to summon the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), and State Security Services (SSS) officials for their roles in screening and approving Sylva’s ministerial appointment as well as his successful governorship bid in 2007.

He claimed that after learning that his identity inconsistencies could imperil his governorship quest, Sylva filed processes to change his name to Timipre Sylva in an official Government Gazette of May 12, 2022.

He said before seeking to change his name in an official gazette, Sylva had already served as Bayelsa State governor between 2007 and 2012 and also Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, among other top-level state and federal positions.

Additionally, the petitioner prayed the National Assembly to summon Sylva and officials from all the academic institutions that issued him certificates to confirm the actual identity of who they awarded the academic certificates.

The institutions include Ajeromi Central School in Apapa, Lagos, West African Examination Council (WAEC), University of Port-Harcourt and Ubis University, Switzerland.

He urged the Nigerian Immigration Service, through the National Assembly, to seize Sylva’s International Passport to prevent him from fleeing the country and seeking refuge in Western nations like U.S., Dubai, Canada, etc.

In another petition to the Governor of Bayelsa State and Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, called on the State Government to urgently commence investigation to unravel the authenticity of certificates and true identity of Sylva.

He called on the state to derecognise Sylva as former Governor of the State if found to have either forged his certificates or altered his identity.

PoliticsOsun: Desperate Politicians Move To Upturn Adeleke's Victory, Timi Frank Warns by Itopalucky(op): 10:37am On Apr 20, 2023
...Urges Supreme Court Judges to maintain integrity and resist inducement

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has called on the Supreme Court Judges to maintain their integrity and resist any attempt of subversiveness through inducement as regards the Osun governorship matter.

He said some desperate politicians have began move to upturn Governor Ademola Adeleke's victory at Appeal Court at all cost.

Frank also raised the alarm that recent intelligence reports available suggest that the enemies of democracy and fascist elements operating in the ruling party are bent on truncating democracy by using every state apparatus available in perpetuating mischief and subversion of legitimacy, as evident in the just concluded Adamawa governorship rerun election.

In a statement released to newsmen Thursday in Abuja, the political activist opined that with an overwhelming Court of Appeal judgement, affirming the victory of Sennator Ademola Adeleke as the Osun state governor, and a previous Supreme Court judgment clearing all issues as regards his eligibility and certificates, "it is clear that any further judicial exercise is akin to witch hunt."

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, alleged that some desperate politicians in the ruling APC have arisen once again to compromise the integrity of the judiciary by vowing to upturn the decision of the Court of Appeal by any means necessary in relation to the Osun state Supreme Court decision.

He alleged that monetary inducement, coercion and intimidation using state security agencies to influence the judgment of the Supreme Court are rife and underway.

"Howbeit, these same elements who've been operating without fear for consequences have once again arisen to compromise the integrity of the judiciary by vowing to upturn the decision of the Court of Appeal, by any means necessary in relation to the Osun state Supreme Court decision. Monetary inducement of $2million per JSC on this matter is the offer inherent as well as coercion and intimidation using state security agencies to greatly influence the judgment of the SC is in top gear and underway.

"The Supreme Court must be put on notice that Nigerians are very interested in the outcomes of judgement decisions from the SC and will continue to beam it's searchlights on the discreet activities of the Judges especially after the ridiculous decisions as regards Sen Ahmed Lawan and Sen Godswill Akabio. We are constrained to believe that indeed, recent decisions from the SC suggest that certain compromise may have been plausible by the outcomes of judicial matters.

"The hopes of many Nigerians is fast fading away as most Nigerians doubt the independence of the judiciary in the dispense of justice. The SC must not be seen going the way of the INEC chairman, who blatantly voided it's own rules to subvert the will of the people save for personal agradissement. The JSC must put the country first in its discharge of their constitutional duties. The 2023 Presidential Elections results are still rife in the minds of many and thus any attempt to deliver any controversial judgement may end up in anarchy.

"The SC must be reminded that the Osun State matter will be first litmus test for the JSC. The facts of the matter are very clear, with the CA putting to rest the issues of overvoting and any other discrepancies. Therefore the minimum expectations for the SC is to stand by the truth and avoid any semblance of intimidation and coercion. The Right thing must be done, as it is clear that the Osun people are extremely pleased with the choice of their governor and are elated with his performance since his inception into office.

"In other to demonstrate independence and integrity the SC should as a matter of Public Opinion approve for the use of live telecast in broadcasting it's proceeding for the Presidential Elections matter. The Supreme Court must stand on what is right and just and endeavor to reclaim it's already battered image," Frank stated.

PoliticsTimi Frank Urges PEPT To Transmit Proceedings Live by Itopalucky(op): 3:19pm On Apr 06, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of
the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Thursday, called on the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) to transmit its proceedings live.

Frank in a statement in Abuja, said this has become necessary to ensure transparency and openness in the conduct of the tribunal.

He said the move would make Nigerians feel a sense of belonging by keeping them abreast of the progress or otherwise of hearings of the petitions as critical stakeholders.

He said: “We have seen in other countries even within Africa like Kenya where proceedings on election petition sittings were transmitted live so voters would have the opportunity to see how justice is being dispensed.”

He also urged the PEPT to urgently commence sitting, ensure accelerated hearing of the case and speedily conclude the case within time statutorily allotted before inauguration on May 29, 2023.

He said: “We know as it stands, the All Progressives Congress is buying time with delay tactics so as to frustrate the case till after inauguration.

“This is geared towards allowing the APC to use incumbency powers to influence the judgement of the court.

“But we call on the Tribunal especially the Justices of the Appeal Court and Supreme Court to put Nigeria first before personal interest.

“The people want the proceedings to be transmitted live. They must listen to the call of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) by doing the case differently for the first time.

“We are aware from intelligence reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) has started putting threat calls across to a few Justices of the Appeal and Supreme Courts to blackmail and get them to delay the court processes to the advantage of the ruling APC.

“This was the same way the DSS intimidated and blackmailed the Independent National Electoral Commission to swing the results of the general election in favour of the APC.

“We dare say that with the subterranean threats and pressure being mounted on the judiciary, Nigerians are beginning to lose hope of getting true and unfettered justice in the election petition cases before the courts.

“In Kenya, the Supreme Court concluded hearing of an election petition case and gave judgement in two weeks and we believe that the judiciary in Nigeria can equally save time and earn the trust of Nigerians by working to terminate the case and give its judgement before the inauguration date.

“Let the Judiciary know that Nigerians are watching them closely, both locally and internationally. Therefore there is need for them to impartially adjudicate on the present election petition task before them without any modicum of compromise or resort to selling justice to the highest bidder the way the DSS would want them to so do.

“We also use this opportunity to call on the international community to help save democracy in Nigeria by prevailing on President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency call the DSS to order and stop the agency from interfering in the electoral and judicial processes in the country.”

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, equally called on the DSS to stop being partisan but to concentrate on their constitutionally assigned duties.

He described as unfortunate a situation where the DSS has been turned to an errand boy of highest bidders through alleged illegal sale of information that recently manifested in leakage of personal telephone conversation between high profile Nigerians.

He added: “This is not what the DSS is meant to do but today the agency has become very porous with its agents being accused of selling classified information and taking part in clandestine blackmail activities to please the ruling party.”

PoliticsCitizens Call On Nigeria Judiciary To Emulate USA And Dispense Justice Rightly by Itopalucky(op):
Concerned Citizens for Good Governance and Democratic Values Call on the Judiciary to Emulate the United States Of America since we are following their Democratic values and Principles.

The group in a statement issued in Abuja by it's Country Director Ambassador Suleiman Sule Ibim, said Tinubu's track record is a bad Precedence that is giving Nigeria bad Name amongst Committee of Nations and that the Judiciary should be bold enough to bring those involve to book because they are setting example of bad leadership considering the fact that Tinubu has so many bad records that could destroy our Image amongst Committee of Nations.

it is on record that Bola Tinubu's 1993 Narcotics Trafficking & Money Laundering Case, and $460,000 Forfeiture is still hanging on his neck.
on the same vain, APC never believe in rule of law and Democratic principles and values which led to the Independent National Electoral Commission fraudulently awarding them the certificate of return in the just Concluded Feb 25th 2023 General election even without getting the 25% in federal Capital Territory (FCT) as required by the Constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria.

We call on the Judiciary as well to look into the Forged Certificate of Bola Ahmed Tinubu .

The judiciary been the last hope of the Common man should help wipe the tears of Nigerians away by ensuring that the stolen mandate is being restored back to the People.

If Donald Trump can be arraigned by the America Government through the help of the Judiciary, we call on the Nigeria Judiciary to prove a point to the world by by doing the needful.

The INEC guidelines were clearly Violated and this is a major offence.

The Judiciary should as well take into Cognisance the Shettima's Double Nomination which clearly disqualify them from contesting as the as President and Vice President of Nigeria.

We look forward to the Judiciary doing the Needful to Notify the election and we call for a Rerun.

PoliticsLeaked Conversations: DSS Now Intelligence Arm Of APC - Timi Frank by Itopalucky(op): 7:06pm On Apr 04, 2023
...Says Service's Nollywood script a recipe for tragedy

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has said the Directorate of State Security Service (DSS) has metamorphosed into an intelligence arm of the ruling party and urgently needs a total overhaul.

Frank, however said the DSS needs to wake up and restore the lost confidence Nigerians have in its leadership.

In a statement released he made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, on the recent activities of the DSS, the political activist accused the organisation of monitoring and then leaking telephone conversations of some political leaders (Especially in opposition) in order to embarrass them and to impress the APC elements.

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, said the DSS has the right to intercept unlawful communication but not to leak private conversations that are not favourable to the ruling party.

According to Frank, the main responsibilities of the DSS as stated in its enabling Act include counter-intelligence, internal security, counter-terrorism, and surveillance as well as investigating some other types of serious crimes against the state.

"The Department of State Services or the State Security Service needs a complete and total overhaul. The agency which was established by Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, was supposed to be patterned after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States of America or the MI5 Security Service in the United Kingdom.

"It is also charged with the protection of senior government officials, particularly the President, Vice President, state governors and visiting heads of states and governments with their respective families.

"But the DSS has since deviated from its core mandate in the last 10 years by becoming a willing tool to the government in power. In recent times, the DSS has focused more on regime protection and fostering the interest of politicians in the ruling party and their allies. The DSS and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have become one and the same and it is almost difficult to differentiate a statement written by the DSS and the APC.

"How do we explain away the fact that the DSS has continued to tap the telephone lines and release phone recordings of opposition politicians and influential Nigerians critical of the government?

"The latest misadventure was a leaked telephone conversation between Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and revered cleric, Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, and presiding Bishop of the Faith Tabernacle in Ota, Ogun State.

"On the eve of the Presidential election, Obi and Bishop Oyedepo had a private telephone conversation. There was no terror plot and the conversation in itself was not about the use of violence. Obi simply asked Bishop Oyedepo to help him convince his congregation in the southwest to vote for him.

"Similarly, a day after the Presidential election, former President Olusegun Obasanjo received a call from Musician, Charles Oputa professionally known as Charly Boy. In the conversation, Charly Boy asked Obasanjo what could be done to stop the stealing of the people’s mandate. Obasanjo suggested that they could protest. The right to peaceful protest is guaranteed by the constitution.

"Private discussions are what they are: private. Section 37 of the 1999 Constitution expressly states: 'The privacy of citizens, their homes, correspondence, telephone conversations and telegraphic communications is hereby guaranteed and protected."

The Bayelsa born activist descrived the recent leaked phone conversations as highly unprofessional and smacks of partisanship.

"It is worrisome when the most sophisticated security agency in the country descends into the arena of politics in order to favour the ruling party.

"How do we explain it that the immediate past DG of the DSS, Musa Lawal Daura, was a member of the APC and his successor, Yusuf Bichi, also has obvious ties with the ruling party? His son, Abba, is a member of the APC who openly supports Bola Tinubu on social media. His wife, Aisha, got the current Kano Governor-elect, Abba Yusuf, arrested last year following a confrontation between them at the VIP lounge gate of the Aminu Kano International Airport. Yes, Abba is a citizen who is free to support any candidate of his choice. But he is not an ordinary son, he is the son of the DG of the boss of the DSS whose actions or inactions would have huge ramifications for the country.

"Why have the telephone conversations of Bola Tinubu and his minions never been leaked? Why is it only the telephone conversations of opposition politicians that are being shared with journalists or posted on social media? It is obvious where Bichi’s loyalty lies. He seeks to be retained as DSS DG and is now trying to ingratiate himself to Tinubu by bootlicking.

"Under Bichi’s watch the DSS has strayed from its core mandate and metamorphosed into a town crier instead of a stealthy intelligence agency. The agency has become flippant, garrulous and loquacious. It spends more time making noise rather than gathering intelligence.

"Almost on a weekly basis, the once respected agency churns out insipid and unintelligent press releases. While their counterparts in foreign countries are involved with more noble and heroic acts, these are some of the DSS headlines as portrayed in the Nigerian media "DSS invites Chidi Onumah for wearing Biafra T-shirt”; “DSS cautions against violence and hate speech”; “DSS reiterates call against violence in Nigeria”; “DSS says there’re plans to incite religious violence across the country”; “DSS says some prominent persons plotting to destabilise the country”; “DSS uncovers plot to destabilise Nigeria”.

Continued, he said: "The latest misadventure of the DSS is another false alarm about plans to foist an interim government on the country and to also carry out nationwide protests. The nationwide protests began in various parts of the country immediately the result was announced so this is not the product of intelligence gathering. Also, the DSS should have made arrests if indeed it had uncovered a plot to foist an interim government.

"The agency also showed its disdain for the rule of law by warning the judiciary against making “frivolous orders”. What qualifies as a frivolous court order? The DSS is clearly a lawless organisation which selects which order of government to obey or disobey hence the hundreds of Nigerians being detained illegally in its various centres.

"The last time I checked, the overthrow of the government in Nigeria is treason and attracts the maximum penalty. So why has the DSS decided to announce a plan to overthrow a government when the headline should be 'DSS arrests Bleep for attempted coup?'

"With the APC in control of the Federal Government, the legislature and at least 22 states at the moment, the APC is the one that has the power to foist an interim government and not the opposition which does not even control the police. With the DSS making insinuations that the opposition are behind this plan, tt is obvious the DSS is playing a Nollywood script, a fictional plot with an uninteresting end.

"The kind of frivolity that DSS is preoccupied with while Nigerians are imperilled by insecurity adds a new cadence to the cliché of political authority acting like Emperor Nero - fiddling while the country burns. They have slaughtered professionalism on the altar of politics. Nigerians have grown tired of the DSS crying wolf when there is none.

"In the last eight years, more Nigerians have been killed and abducted by bandits more than any other time in Nigeria’s history if you remove the civil war period of 1966 to 1970. According to available data from the Nigeria Security Tracker (NST), a project of the Council on Foreign Relations’ Africa programme which documents violence in Nigeria, no fewer than 50,000 Nigerians have been killed on Buhari’s watch.

"But you will hardly see the DSS protecting the lives and dignity of regular Nigerians. All the so-called secret police are preoccupied with is hounding those who make their paymasters uncomfortable. Just today, April 4, 2023, bandits abducted 10 students from Government Day Secondary School in Kachia LGA of Kaduna. The DSS never saw this coming because they were busy tapping the telephone lines of the opposition while terrorists’ lines were left to their devices.

"On the watch of the current DSS leadership, thousands of schoolchildren have been abducted. By UNICEF's estimates, 11,000 schools were closed between December 2020 and early 2022 over insecurity, largely in the north. The DSS never saw this coming.

"Train passengers were abducted, the Nigerian Defence Academy was attacked and a senior officer killed, prisons were attacked and over 1,000 escapees from all these attacks continue to roam freely including over 400 from the Kuje Correctional Centre. The DSS has not been able to do anything.

"Abductors use the telephone of their victims to contact their victims to pay ransom. The DSS has not been able to intercept these telephone calls to reveal the location of bandits whom Sheikh Gumi visits in broad daylight. However, the DSS has been super effective in bugging the phone lines of revered pastors and opposition politicians. What a shame!"

Abegbe, who made known his intention to occupy the Dennis Osadebe Avenue seat of power under the Labour Party, LP, spoke in a chat with newsmen in Benin.

He stated that if elected governor of the state, his leadership style would be people-centric, that is the people would be the center point.

He further explained that his government would focus on good governance, infrastructural development, security, economy, education for all and youth development.

He said if elected as the number one citizen of the state, he would hit the ground running as he was not coming to learn through the ropes.

PoliticsDSS’ ING Alarm Ploy To Arrest Obi, Atiku Before May 29, Says Timi Frank by Itopalucky(op): 1:52pm On Mar 30, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of
the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Thursday, described the alarm about a plot to foist an Interim National Government (ING) on the country as a ploy by security agencies to arrest the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi, before the May 29 handover date.

The DSS had on Wednesday in Abuja accused those it referred to as “entrenched interests” of plotting to subvert democracy by forcing the emplacement of an ING in the country.

Frank in reaction to the DSS’ claim, said the secret police know more than they chose to tell Nigerians and urged them to be more forthcoming.

He said the security alarm by the agency was meant as an alibi to crackdown on peaceful protesters demonstrating against the rigged 2023 presidential election and to massively arrest opposition politicians in the country.

He said: “The DSS’ purported intelligence is fake. It is a plot to crackdown on protesters and arrest opposition political leaders before May 29.

“We have credible information that the DSS issued the statement in preparation for its planned disruption of ongoing protest by Nigerians who are demonstrating peacefully to demand for justice and the restoration of their stolen mandate.”

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, said that the DSS ought to have used the same intelligence to stop abuse and killing of Nigerians by terrorists groups over the years.

He said: “Where was their intelligence when the Independent National Electoral Commission and Mahmood Yakubu were compromised to rig the 2023 general election?

“Nigerians have been under siege by bandits, kidnappers and terrorists for a long time now, but the DSS never gave intelligence to foil kidnapping, heinous attacks, maiming and killings of innocent Nigerians.

“The only time you see the DSS coming up to talk about intelligence is whenever Nigerians are preparing to either protest against obnoxious government policies, rules, human rights abuses or carrying out lawful political activities.

“The DSS must stop this method of intimidating Nigerians, especially politicians, whenever they want to exercise their constitutional rights.

“In fact, we dare the DSS or any other security outfit in the country to arrest Atiku and Obi before May 29 and see the wrath of Nigerians.”

He however called on protesters not to be intimidated by “this DSS’ fake intelligence of a phantom ING plot.”

He enjoined the UK, US and EU to immediately call on the Nigerian Government to allow Nigerians to exercise their democratic rights which is to ensure that the stolen mandate of the Nigerian people is restored through peaceful protests and the judicial process.

He added: “We are aware that the DSS is planning to sponsor counter protests across the country to clash with the peaceful protesters and use that as an excuse to clampdown on them.

“We dare the DSS to name those involved in the phantom plot if they genuinely have the ‘intelligence’ about a m plot to instigate an ING so the world will know those who plan to stop the inauguration of the President.

“But we know they are not being sincere. This is often their style whenever they want to engage in propaganda and do a hatchet job.

“On the contrary, let them name the purported politicians involved in the plot. Their real intent is to clampdown on protesters and arrest Atiku and Obi before May 29. Nothing more.

“We use this opportunity to call on the international community to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the DSS to order and stop them from meddling in the democratic process.

“The DSS is the one that is about to scuttle democracy in the country at this moment by plotting to arrest Atiku and Obi and other top opposition politicians,” he said.

He further urged the DSS not to allow the agency to be used to truncate democracy or as purveyors of fake news.

He insisted that the DSS had of recent attempted albeit unsuccessfully to arrest and prosecute the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele for allegedly financing terrorism in the country.

“They later pulled back following the outcry that trailed the move. This is another of such hoaxes and it is one too many,” he said.

PoliticsCJN Ariwoola Disguises On Wheelchair In London For Secret Meeting With Tinubu by Itopalucky(op): 7:28am On Mar 24, 2023
• A Supreme Court source said Mr Ariwoola wanted to meet Mr Tinubu to discuss issues that may arise from the budding legal challenge to his declaration as president-elect.

Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has been sighted in London pretending to be a physically-challenged old man, Peoples Gazette learnt today, in what Supreme Court sources said was a clandestine preparation for a meeting with President-elect Bola Tinubu.

Mr Ariwoola’s movement was exposed to The Gazette as Mr Tinubu was arriving in London for what his team claimed was a relaxation trip after a hectic campaign that preceded his declaration as Nigeria’s president-elect last month. But Mr Tinubu kept his trip to London secret until it was exposed on Wednesday afternoon by Sahara Reporters, which said the trip was a medical emergency.

The Gazette learnt that Mr Ariwoola departed Nigeria on March 11 via Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. He was pushed in a wheelchair through the terminals to board a British Airways flight, our sources said.

Upon arrival in London, Mr Ariwoola, 64, was also wheeled into a hotel downtown, where he has remained ever since. But immediately after checking into the hotel, Mr Ariwoola abandoned his wheelchair and started moving around the facility unaided. The Supreme Court head is not known with any physical disabilities.

“He has been moving about in the hotel without any wheelchair,” a source familiar with the CJN’s activities at the London accommodation told The Gazette. “He was standing on his own in the elevator just yesterday.”

The Gazette learnt that Mr Ariwoola repeatedly picked up food ordered via delivery services at a mid-level lobby, including Uber Eats and Deliveroo. It was unclear whether or not he placed the orders by himself or how he paid.

With Mr Tinubu now in Europe, he would be meeting Mr Ariwoola in a secret arrangement to discuss issues unknown to Nigerians, our sources said.

“The CJN deliberately left the country more than a week ahead of Tinubu to avoid any suspicion about why both of them disappeared at once,” a source familiar said. “That is why he travelled secretly and Tinubu also travelled secretly.”

Shortly after Mr Tinubu’s trip was reported, his media aides issued a statement saying he was going to be in Paris and London briefly before heading to Saudi Arabia for prayer rites. His return date was not disclosed.

But many Nigerians expressed immediate doubt about the statement’s credibility, especially as it was not volunteered before the trip was uncovered.

“They thought that they could secretly move the president-elect abroad without anybody knowing about it,” a source said. “That’s one of the several mistakes they made on this matter, asides from the belief that they could allow the Chief Justice of Nigeria to move about in a London hotel for several days undetected after going through the trouble of disguising him in a wheelchair.”

The Gazette has temporarily withheld the CJN’s photos and the specific hotel he stayed in to protect a source central to this story.

A Supreme Court source said Mr Ariwoola wanted to meet Mr Tinubu to discuss issues that may arise from the budding legal challenge to the declaration as president-elect, including whether or not he should be worried about the petitions recently filed by opposition parties.

“The CJN would either assure Tinubu of victory in court or tell him that he should be worried about the dimension the petitions may take through the court stages,” the source said under anonymity to avoid facing administrative action for divulging privileged information to reporters. “But we may never know what they actually discussed after their secret meeting.”

“I am reluctant to start thinking about the of their meeting right now,” the source added. “But any fair-minded person will easily admit that both of them meeting in a foreign corner to discuss something that Nigerians will not know about is highly suspicious and should be unwarranted.”

Brazen partisanship

Festus Akande, a spokesman for the Supreme Court, abruptly hung up when The Gazette requested comment about Mr Ariwoola’s secret trip to London.

The National Judicial Council declined comments about Mr Ariwoola’s suspicious activity. Mr Tinubu’s spokespersons also declined comments on Thursday afternoon.

Mr Ariwoola’s apparent affinity with Mr Tinubu has continued despite the raging challenge to the declaration of Mr Tinubu as president-elect and the ultimate role the Supreme Court is expected to play in the legal battle.

Two main opposition candidates Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar have this week filed petitions against Mr Tinubu’s emergence, saying the process that led to the decision of the electoral office INEC was fraudulent and unconstitutional.

Mr Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate in the February 25 election, also sought disqualification of Mr Tinubu on the grounds of his involvement in illicit narcotics dealing in the United States between the 1980s and 1990s.

As Nigerians debate the strength of both petitions against Mr Tinubu, they’re also voicing an even more critical concern about the credibility of the Supreme Court as an arbiter of untainted justice.

Besides the court’s recent contentious judgments that severely blunted the court’s reputation — chiefly the decision to return Hope Uzodinma as governor in Imo despite coming fourth in an election and the enforcement of Ahmad Lawan as APC candidate in Yobe North Senatorial District despite not participating in the primaries — critics are also saying Mr Ariwoola’s conduct has done little to inspire public confidence in the Supreme Court under him.

In November 2022, Mr Ariwoola openly praised Seyi Makinde for working internally to sabotage the candidacy of Mr Abubakar. The Supreme Court denied Mr Ariwoola’s statement, but video evidence contradicted the denial. Mr Ariwoola was later questioned by the State Security Service, which feared the comments could threaten the country’s stability.

Still, both Mr Ariwoola and the Supreme Court have repeatedly assured Nigerians that justice would be dispensed fairly as dictated by the Constitution. A spokesman recently said Mr Ariwoola could be expected to dispassionately empanel justices for Messrs Abubakar and Obi’s petitions when they get to the Supreme Court later in the year.

PoliticsFrank To Presidency, Others: Wike Playing Dangerous Politics, Call Him To Order by Itopalucky(op): 10:37am On Mar 13, 2023
A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Monday, called on the Presidency, the leaders of thought across the country and the security agencies to urgently call the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, to order to prevent him from
igniting political crisis between the Northern and the Southern regions of the country.

The political activist said Governor Wike is presently playing dangerous politics that if not quickly checked could worsen already bad situation as far as the recent conduct of presidential election is concerned.

In a statement released in Abuja, Frank said Wike's recent doublespeak in public statements on Peter Obi has shown that the Labour Party presidential candidate was not genuinely in the race to win the presidency but was used by forces known to Wike to play a spoilers game against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the North from winning the presidency.

Wike, who reportedly said Obi was his hero of the just concluded presidential election, openly worked and delivered Rivers State for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the election.

According to Frank, Peter Obi was good for a spoiling role but not for Presidency as portrayed by Wike's statements.

The former APC spokesman accused Wike of celebrating a fraudulent and controversial presidential election victory as if the South has just defeated the North, hence the need to call him to order.

Frank said: “I am using this medium to call on the Presidency, religious leaders, all the elders and leaders of thought, and the security agencies to call Governor Wike to order before he ignites a political crisis between the North and the South, even as most Nigerians are still bitter about the outcome of the Presidential election which has been adjudged to be massively rigged.

"It’s on record that since Wike lost his presidential bid to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who is more experienced than him, the bitter Rivers state governor had put on the garment of hate against the North while hiding under the toga of Southern presidency.

"If truly Wike meant what he said in public that Peter Obi is his hero of the last Presidential election, he should have campaigned and openly supported him but to the contrary, acting like a Chameleon, Wike mobilised support for Bola Tinubu of the APC.

"Governor Wike is celebrating a fraudulent and illegal victory not only against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar or the PDP but against the North as if the South has defeated the North which is dangerous for our fragile democracy."

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, added: "Governor Wike has also confirmed the rigging of the controversial presidential election by saying that they had agreement before the election that anywhere Tinubu of APC comes first, Peter Obi of LP should come second and vis-versa.

"I, however, call on the North to hold Wike and his likes responsible who conspired to manipulate the controversial presidential election against the PDP presidential candidate,” he said.

PoliticsFrank Urges Nigerians To Reject Manipulated Results By INEC, Security Agencies by Itopalucky(op): 12:56pm On Feb 27, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Monday, strongly condemned the ongoing large-scale manipulation of the results of the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly Election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in collaboration with Nigeria’s security agencies.

Frank in a statement in Abuja called on Nigerians to reject the results, demand for their cancellation and reordering of fresh presidential and National Assembly election.

He insisted that INEC scientifically rigged the much anticipated poll whose outcome Nigerians had hoped would birth a new dawn in the country.

He said INEC deliberately delayed the release of the Presidential and National Assembly election results to give the ruling APC room to doctor the results to favour their candidates.

He said the commission just like in 2019, has upturned the will of the people. “What they told Nigerians is that results would be transmitted from the polling units to the server, as we speak, the results are not on the INEC’s server! What changed?,” he said.

“INEC has scientifically rigged the election through deliberate delay in announcing results and failure to electronically transmit the results as promised.

“They fraudulently ensured that APC won with very wide margin in states where they are popular while opposition parties could only only manage slim margin of win in states they are popular.

“The question INEC must answer is if the Presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu can be disgraced and defeated in his stronghold in Lagos State and his home state of Osun - how come he is being awarded huge vote figures in the northern parts of the country?

“We have also seen how state government officials in Rivers and Kaduna state have been intimidating INEC officials to upturn polls in favour of the ruling party.

“It is on record that election results in Gombe and Bauchi States where the Peoples Democratic Party is clearly ahead are now being changed in favour of the APC,” he said.

He lamented that President Muhammadu Buhari has disappointed Nigerians by allowing INEC to once again conduct the worst election in the history the country which has brought shame to Nigeria in the eyes of the international community.

According to Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, the ruling party heavily compromised INEC and the security agencies with inducements to do their bidding for which Buhari should be held accountable.

Frank said: “Buhari promised to leave a legacy of free, fair and credible elections but the ongoing manipulation of election results and thwarting of the expressed will of Nigerians in Saturday’s election is highly reprehensible and posterity will judge him for this attempt to plunge the country into what may turn out as another four years of clueless and incompetent administration.

“He has allowed INEC to sell the will of the people and thereby further mortgaged the future of unborn Nigerian children.

“He promised to leave a legacy of credible
election but Saturday’s poll whose results are presently being manipulated in favour of the ruling party, would rank as the worst election ever conducted in the country.

“Posterity will judge him as the President who conducted the most fraudulent election in the history of the country and that is what he will be remembered for after leaving office.”

He called on “all well meaning Nigerians at home and abroad and all lovers of democracy to massively reject the outcome of the 2023 presidential and National Assembly poll results in Nigeria.”

He also called for all those responsible for the ongoing massive rigging to be held accountable.

He also called on the international community especially election observers to reveal the truth they gathered from the field and those who won the respective elections and to sanction those now stealing the peoples mandate accordingly.

PoliticsElection: Timi Frank Urges Northern Leaders, Clerics To Rally Support For Atiku by Itopalucky(op): 10:48am On Feb 23, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has appealed to Northern leaders, Clerics and youths across the 19 Northern states to mobilise support for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in the Saturday's election.

Frank said the move becomes necessary because other two frontline contenders (Peter Obi and Bola Tinubu) have practically turned the game to ethnic and religious matters, hence the North should not put their son (Atiku) to shame during the election.

In a statement released Thursday in Abuja, Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, said one of the candidates (Obi) has visited nearly all the Churches with various Pastors openly endorsing him while the other (Tinubu) has been playing ethnic politics of 'Emilokan' (It is my turn), hence the need for the Northern leaders and Clerics to speak the truth to their followers as they go to Mosque on Friday.

He said: "It is very important at this point in time for the Northern elders, Clerics and the youths not to sit on the fence but rally round Atiku Abubakar like some Yoruba leaders, faction of Afenifere and PANDEF have done to Peter Obi and Bola Tinubu based on religion and ethnic factors."

"We have seen some Southern leaders like Chief Adebanjo openly threatening war if a Southerner do not win this election. Again, the activities of the five Southern Governors who are all Christians are part of the plot against the North which must be resisted if Nigeria will continue as one.

It is obvious that both Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi are ethnic champions. They have obviously ran ethnic and religion campaigns in such a way that place the North at the disadvantage if either of them win this election.

"As a true Southner, I believe in one Nigeria and strongly believe too that only candidate that can unify Nigeria and make her remain as one is Atiku Abubakar, who already has a Blueprint and determination to restructure Nigeria in such a way that will benefit the North, West, East and South.

"I am, however, calling on Norther elders and other organisations in the North to take a bold step by publicly endorsing Atiku as Souther Pastors and other groups have endorsed Peter Obi and Bola Tinubu.

"I also appeal to the North to forget about their party affiliations at this moment and come together as one behind Atiku Abubakar who is obviously different from other two ethnic and religious bigots," Frank said.

He also called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to renege on their promises to deliver a free, fair and credible election.

Frank warned that "if Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerge the next President, those around President Muhammadu Buhari and other Northern leaders will be the first set of casualties because we have seen how supporters of Tinubu already coming out to call the President names. For example, former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, Governor Nasir El-rufai among others have recently said Buhari will soon expire once Bola Tinubu wins the presidency."

PoliticsAPC Governors Pressurizing Buhari, Malami For Out Of Court Settlement - Frank by Itopalucky(op):
Governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are currently mounting intense pressure on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to settle the cases over Naira redesign policy out of the Supreme Court, it has been learnt.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, gave this indication in a statement in Abuja.

Frank revealed that the AGF has allegedly acceded to the request of the APC and its governors to settle the case out of court.

He said the meeting between the leadership of the APC and its governors with Malami was aimed at pressurizing the President and Malami to agree for the out of court settlement request.

He said the Governors and the leadership of the APC have succeeded in blackmailing both the President and Malami to consider the reintroduction of the N1,000 and N500 notes before the Presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday.

He insisted that the governors and the leadership of the APC are not working to protect the interest of Nigerians but to be able to deploy their looted funds to compromise the elections through massive vote buying.

He urged Buhari to be mindful of his promise to bequeath free, fair and credible elections to Nigerians as his parting legacy, saying any attempt to yield to the antics of the governors and APC’s national leadership would defeat that noble goal.

He further urged Malami to be resolute and to stand by the people by not succumbing to the overwhelming pressure of the governors now calling for out of court settlement.

He said the APC and its governors have become increasingly desperate to reverse the Naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in order to fraudulently swing the results of the presidential election in favour of their unpopular candidate who cannot win if the elections are free, fair and credible and devoid of monetary inducement of voters.

He called on Nigerians to know that if Malami and the Governors withdraw their suits at the Supreme Court tomorrow (Wednesday) to settle out of court, then they should not expect the elections to be credible, free and fair.

He said: “Buhari must keep to his words by not bowing to the unholy pressure of APC’s Governors to settle out of court and to have N1,000 and N500 notes reintroduced.

“APC governors don’t have the interest of Nigerians at heart. We have seen how they have serially blackmailed the President to do their bidding in recent past.

“Now they are trying to blackmail the AGF to withdraw his suit challenging their own suit for an out of court settlement during the sitting of the apex court tomorrow.”

According to Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, part of the tactics of the Governors have been to consistently drum into the ears of Nigerians that Buhari has so far failed in administering Nigeria.

He said they have also told Buhari and the AGF that the Naira redesign policy and attendant scarcity of new notes would lead to the defeat of the APC during the general elections.

He said: “The APC Governors have told Buhari and Malami that the Party cannot win with the Naira redesign policy in place.

“So they have continued to blackmail them. They know their presidential candidate is unpopular and cannot win the forthcoming election if one-man-one-vote prevails.

“Buhari and Malami should know that the forthcoming election is not all about APC and its governors alone.

“Rather, it’s for the generality of Nigerians who desperately need succour from their present hardship through a new and purposeful leadership in the country.”

He insisted that if there is any need to reconsider the reintroduction of the old N1,000 and N500 notes, it should wait till after the elections.

“Nigerians should know that we have only three days to go. Let us bear the pains for the next three days.

“Otherwise, the elections would be compromised through massive vote buying by the APC and its governors and the present order of cluelessness and hardship would continue,” he said.

PoliticsTimi Frank Accuses APC Of Fueling Crises To Force Election Postponement by Itopalucky(op): 12:52pm On Feb 16, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Timi Frank, on Thursday, accused the APC of fueling agitations and riots over the scarcity of new Naira notes to heat up the polity, make the country insecure and cause election postponement.

Frank who made this assertion in a statement in Abuja, however called on President Muhammadu Buhari, not to bow to APC’s pressure and blackmail through ongoing sponsorship of riots to trigger election shift.

He insisted that the ruling party is fueling the crisis to enable them perfect their vote buying and rigging strategies ahead of the elections.

He said: “It is unfortunate that the APC has chosen a dangerous route to retain power by instigating killings and destruction of property by paid irate mob protesting scarcity of new Naira notes.

“I dare say that the country is bigger than any political party or party candidates. Instigating crisis to provoke a postponement of the elections is least expected of the APC.”

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, called on President Buhari and INEC to be resolute in their commitment to conduct the elections notwithstanding the evil machinations of the APC to get the polls shifted.

He called on the international community especially election observers already deployed by statutory bodies to monitor the elections to put pressure on the nation’s election management body to hold the election as scheduled.

He insisted that if elections are being held in countries in worse security situations or experiencing full blown war, there is no justification to postpone the forthcoming elections on the basis of protests over scarcity of new Naira notes.

He added: “Even though the riots seem localized in the southern parts of the country, we have information that very soon APC will cause it to spread to states in the North.

“This to enable them sustain their blackmail and pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Buhari to postpone the elections under the guise of widespread violence.

“We condemn this resort to violence being masterminded by the APC and we call on all well meaning Nigerians and international development partners not only to condemn this shenanigans by the ruling party but to hold it responsible for all deaths and properties being destroyed at this time as well as any postponement of the election.”

PoliticsTimi Frank Urges USA, UK, EU To Prevail On Buhari, INEC Not To Postpone Election by Itopalucky(op):
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Timi Frank, on Thursday, called for the intervention of the United States, United Kingdom and European Union to prevent plot to postpone the forthcoming general election.

Frank who made this call in a statement in Abuja said there is a potent plot by enemies of democracy to cause a postponement of the elections to enable them perfect their rigging strategies.

According to him, it has become imperative for leaders of advanced democracies and defenders of freedoms like the USA, UK and EU, among others, to impress it on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to succumb to APC’s blackmails, but to conduct the elections as scheduled.

He insisted that their intervention would not only ensure that the elections are held as scheduled but will help save democracy in Nigeria.

He said in a recent media report that the APC is seeking postponement of the elections for four weeks, and it has vindicated his position that the ruling party has commenced plot to derail the elections.

He said: “The purpose of calling for shift of date of elections is not in the interest of Nigerians, it is being motivated by their Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who used a similar method to emerge flagbearer of the party for 2023.”

He insisted that APC Governors at the behest of Tinubu have been mobilized to blackmail INEC and Buhari to postpone the elections so as to enable them perfect their rigging plot.

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, said the APC is seeking to buy time because “they know they if elections are held today they will lose.”

He said: “APC Governors have no right to complain that people in rural areas are suffering because of fuel and Naira scarcity since they are directly responsible for the pains and suffering in the first place.

“After all, the APC Presidential candidate has confirmed to Nigerians that his party has failed hence the excruciating poverty and pains in the land.

“This is the very reason Nigerians wants the elections to hold as scheduled so they can end the tenure of this wicked and uncaring administration for good.”

He said it has become necessary for the international community to mount strong diplomatic pressure on the President not to heed the advice of nay sayers because any posts would plunge the country into unimaginable crisis.

He said the current riots in the South West and parts of South South over fuel and Naira scarcity were sponsored by the APC so they can use it as strategy to prevail on INEC and the President to shift the elections.

He added: “However, this is not the strategy of Nigeria because Nigerians are ready to go to the polls to elect their representatives for which they have since collected their PVCs.

“Already the CBN has assured INEC that whatever logistics needed by INEC to conduct the elections would be provided to make conduct of the elections seamless.

“Why is it that it is only the ruling party that is crying over a policy which they initiated. They are not working to win the elections. They are working to steal the elections. That is why they need time.

“If elections are shifted today, Nigerians will revolt because it would be tantamount to a denial of their inalienable rights.”

He urged Buhari to remain resolute and stand by his promise to bequeath a legacy of credible elections to Nigeria “which will invariably start from keeping faith with the dates as already announced.”

He further said Nigerians are worried about judgements emanating from the Supreme Court of recent and called on the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kayode Ariwoola, not to play politics with election cases or confer regional advantage on particular parties or aspirants.

He said: “How can aspirants like Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senate President Ahmad Lawan who didn’t contest for primaries suddenly declared by the Supreme Court as senatorial candidates irrespective of the rightful winners of those elections?

“How can the apex court hurriedly rule against the ban on old Naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria, knowing fully well that the ruling would enable the APC to use slush funds denominated in old notes to engage in vote buying during the election?”

He called on the CJN to remain unbiased and an impartial jurist notwithstanding his position as stakeholder in the South West, where the APC candidate comes from.

Politics2023: Timi Frank Warns Buhari, INEC Against Poll Shift by Itopalucky(op): 12:56pm On Feb 05, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Sunday, advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to contemplate or accept any recommendation to shift the forthcoming polls.

Frank who made this plea in a statement in Abuja, also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), not to add to the current harrowing experience of Nigerians by shifting the polls.

He said the call became necessary following clandestine efforts by the APC and its 2023 Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to have the elections postponed because of imminent failure staring at them in the face as February 25, 2023 approaches.

He accused Tinubu of having allegedly mobilized the media and Civil Society Organizations in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory with huge sums to begin editorial campaigns and protests respectively to call for the postponement of the presidential elections using the excuse of fuel and Naira scarcity.

Frank, who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, called on Buhari not to succumb to the blackmail of APC and Tinubu who are presently using the APC Governors to prevail on him to shift the polls just like they pressurized him to make Tinubu to emerge as the Presidential candidate of the party.

He insisted that the only legacy Buhari will leave for Nigeria is to keep to his promise to conduct a free, fair, credible and transparent 2023 general elections notwithstanding the efforts being made by Tinubu through the APC governors to make him do otherwise.

He reminded Buhari that already, Tinubu has openly campaigned that the APC Government had failed saying that it is only by insisting on the conduct of free, fair and credible elections that will redeem his image.

He said that Tinubu and APC are seeking postponement of the elections to enable them perfect their rigging strategies ahead of the elections just like they did in 2019.

Frank said: “Buhari has promised Nigerians and the world to bequeath free, fair and credible as his legacy. He must not allow the APC Governors and the behest of Tinubu to sway him to do otherwise.

“You need to prove Tinubu wrong that your government has not failed by making sure the forthcoming general election is free, fair and credible.

“The international community is waiting to see if you will keep to your promise or you deceived them with your promise to ensure holistic electoral reforms in the country.

“Nigerians are ready to go to the polls to correct the evil policies of an uncaring administration as Tinubu has confirmed in order to free themselves from hardship deliberately inflicted on them through clueless leadership.

“This is a better time to hold this election to enable Nigerians to choose whether to remain in Egypt with APC’s Pharaoh or to cross over to the promised land with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

He called on INEC to resist any overtures to postpone the elections. He said do so would be resisted by Nigerians who are already fed up with the present administration and are waiting to take them out of office with their Permanent Voter Card (PVC).

PoliticsAdeleke: Timi Frank Urges NJC, EFCC To Probe Osun Tribunal Judges by Itopalucky(op): 2:46pm On Jan 27, 2023
…Says judgement compromised

A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Friday, described the majority judgement of the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that purportedly sacked Governor Ademola Adeleke as highly compromised.

Frank in a statement in reaction to the judgement in Abuja, said the verdict fell short of expectations and does not reflect the will of the majority of the people of Osun who freely elected Senator Adeleke as Governor.

He called on the National Judicial Council to urgently cause a probe of the verdict with a view to restoring Adeleke’s mandate as well as penalizing any of the tribunal members found to have compromised on integrity.

He also called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to urgently investigate the judges who wrote the majority judgement and prosecute those found to have based their decision on other considerations rather than the true facts canvassed during the hearing of the case.

He also called on the United States of America to place a visa ban on the Osun tribunal judges found to have used their highly exalted position as arbiters to derail and frustrate the growth of democracy in the country.

He commended the judge who wrote the minority judgement for sticking to the truth and siding with the wishes and aspirations of Osun people that elected Adeleke during the last governorship election.

He however urged the people of Osun to remain calm and law abiding with the certainty that the mandate they freely gave to Adeleke would be retrieved at the appellate court.

He vowed that Nigerians will not fold their arms and watch any attempt to use the judiciary to again steal Adeleke’s mandate through the backdoor.

Politics‘emilokan’ Syndrome: The Bane Of Nigerian Politics by Itopalucky(op): 2:52pm On Dec 30, 2022
An article by Tony Ogunlowo

First of all, ‘emilokan’ for my non-Yoruba readers simply means ‘it’s my turn’ in English. In Nigerian politics it’s a syndrome which affects a narcissistic few who believe they’re entitled to something they’re not. And because they’ve been kingmakers themselves, in the past, hand picking leaders to rule the country, a favour is owed and its now their turn to collect.

It's not something that started recently, as is widely believed, it’s been going on for awhile.

When Murtala Muhammed overthrow General Gowon in 1975 there was no real reason to do so other than the latter believed it was his turn to be at the helm of affairs: the country was relatively stable, growing economically, redeveloping after the civil war and en-route to the return to civil rule before the end of the decade, so there was no need for a change of government.

Coming up to when Babangida ousted then Head of State Buhari in 1985 he had no real policies of his own to prove he was better than his predecessor other than ‘emilokan’ and ended up implementing the Structural Adjustment Program, SAP, a disastrous economic policy, of which the country hasn’t been able to escape from thirty-six years later.

Sani Abacha sacked the Shonekan-led Interim National Government in 1993 because he believed it was his turn to be Head of State despite being warned off by then General Colin Powell, who was at the time the United States Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but to no avail. He took power anyway and cluelessly led the country for the next five years, nearly looting its coffers dry and racking up human rights abuses unlike any other Nigerian leader. Not even the late Chief Awolowo was exempt from this syndrome: he was so hell-bent on leading his party, from Action Group to Unity Party, to become President that more competent people, like Chief Lateef Jakande, who could have done the job better were left in the shadows. His obsession with wanting to become President, by all means, would eventually lead to his alleged suicide.

Those who suffer from’ emilokan’ syndrome believe it’s an entitlement bestowed upon them at birth (- or the last thing on their bucket list!) and not through some sort of old feudal hierarchy. Yes, an Oba or King’s son can succeed him on the throne because that’s how the royal hierarchy system works just like Prince Charles became King upon the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth. But when you’re talking of a country of more than 200 million souls the process to elect a leader has to be democratic, the aspirant has to be competent enough to do the job and have the welfare, protection and advancement of the people at heart, unless Nigeria is turning into North Korea or China where they just stick the next idiot in power. Not one person, or persons, can be allowed to hijack the system, because they have the means to, simply to satisfy a personal ambition. In my opinion all the primaries held by the two major parties, APC & PDP, to elect a Presidential candidate, were all a sham: everybody knew who the front runners would be even before a single member cast their votes! The ‘emilokans’ had already cornered the market!

Reason should come into this: sometimes one has to realise one is past it, too old and or not competent enough, and gracefully step aside accepting the fact it’s one dream you can’t fulfil in this lifetime. At my age it would be foolhardy to think I can win a race with Usain Bolt simply because I believe it’s my turn to be World 100m champion. The other day a whole African President, clearly with incontinence problems, wet himself in public on national TV – too old and dumb to know when to step aside. Na by force to be President?

When it comes to running a country the aspirant needs to be competent enough and up to the task at hand along with being healthy and intelligent because one person’s selfish ambition can plunge millions into poverty and uncertainty. An ‘emilokan’ aspirant is not patriotic, they’re simply in it for themselves! And they’ll do anything ( - especially when they have the clout and financial superiority) to get what they want at the expense of the masses. So, in a country like Nigeria where you can ‘buy’ the Presidency an ‘emilokan’ can easily get the top job.

PoliticsFrank Writes Us, Uk, Eu, World Bank, Imf, Alleges Plot To Assassinate Emefiele by Itopalucky(op): 1:52pm On Dec 22, 2022
A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Thursday, raised the alarm over alleged plot to assassinate the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele.

Frank in a statement in Abuja called on the international community especially the United States of America, United Kingdom, European Union, World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to intervene to save Emefiele’s life and job.

Emefiele has been in the news of late following allegations that the Department of State Services (DSS) have plans to arrest and charge him for terrorism financing in order to forcefully and illegally remove him as the governor of the apex bank.

The DSS is Nigeria’s foremost secret police organization.

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, however urged the DSS to purge itself of partisanship by following due process if it has any evidence linking Emefiele to the said charge.

He insisted that the DSS have farmed out their men to allegedly harass, intimidate and arrest Emefiele on his way back into the country after an official assignment abroad.

He said: “I have it on good authority that some members of the present administration led by the APC in collaboration with some
security agencies are planning to assassinate Governor Emefiele.

“To me, it’s a plot to destabilise next year’s general elections. I plead with the the nation’s security agencies and their cohorts to halt this devious plan in the interest of the country.

“It is interesting to note that this same government through its security agencies like the DSS defended the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, over his alleged past extremist views and support for Al-Qaeda and Boko Haram, even when the minister owned up to the past Islamic messages.

“Also, one of the Vice Presidential candidates who has been seen dining with Boko Haram leaders, including taking pictures with them has not been questioned or arrested by the DSS.

“It is worthy of note that the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had revealed in the past that six top Nigerians were part of those funding terrorism in Nigeria.

“The DSS has done nothing to bring these persons to justice, yet the agency is allegedly being swift in weaving a charge of terrorism financing against Emefiele.

“It is crystal clear that this plot is not far from the politics of 2023. Therefore, we appeal to the international community to wade in and call the people who want to execute this gross illegality against the CBN Governor to order.

“My guess is that some people are not comfortable with Emefiele’s policies, especially that of Naira notes’ redesign as it appears to thwart their plans for vote buying during the upcoming general elections.

“We, the citizens of this country,
will resist any form of intimidation as power must return back to the people, come 2023.
This is the time to work the talk on corruption by this government.

“It might interest the DSS to know that there’s a video in circulation where one of the presidential candidates was seen sharing money to supporters in broad daylight, an act that violates provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.

“Let me advise security agencies like the DSS to channel their energies to curtail such illegalities rather than embarking on a wild goose chase.

“I would like to use this opportunity to state that the members of the cabal plotting this evil are not happy with President Muhammadu Buhari’s principled stance on the conduct of a free and fair general elections come 2023.

“It is obvious that Mr. President will not endorse this type of illegality, hence some members of his administration have ganged up to plan the arrest and possible assassination of Emefiele.

“I have it on good authority that one of the Deputy Governors of the CBN, said to be loyal to one of the presidential candidates, is being primed to step into Emefiele’s shoes upon arrest.

“Therefore, he would be mandated to reverse all recent policies of the CBN, especially that of Naira notes’ redesign. My message to him and his cohorts is that they have failed!

“I dare the DSS to show Nigerians proof of Emefiele’s involvement in any form terrorism related activities or else remain quiet and concentrate on their primary assignment.

“The DSS must steer clear of politics and immediately shelf their purported plans to arrest Emefiele on his way back into the country with the aim of embarrassing him.

“We call on the international community to wade in and mount pressure on the President to stop their plan to illegally and forcefully remove Mr. Emefiele as CBN Governor.

“In all, if anything untoward happens to Emefiele, the DSS must be ready to take full responsibility.”

PoliticsTrue Identity: CIBN Group Urges National Assembly To Probe Timipre Sylva by Itopalucky(op): 5:12pm On Dec 21, 2022
On Wednesday, Citizens Initiative for Better Nigeria (CIBN) Demanded the National Assembly to Institute a Probe Committee and Public Hearing over the True Identity of Chief Timipre Sylva.

In a statement by its Secretary, Comrade Usman Saidu Calculus, the group said; “Today is a despairing day for all patriotic Nigerians as Corruption and Impunity continue to clog the wheels of our Nation progress. It's sad that highly qualified individuals have continue to take the back seat, while fraudulent people with questionable academic credentials continue to pilot the affairs of our nation.

“We are gathered here today in order to ask the National Assembly as a true representatives of the people to without further delay institute a Probe Committee and call for Public Hearing on the true identity of Chief Timipre Sylva who was sued by our sister Civil Society Organization because Timipre Sylva is overdue for arrest and prosecution for the offences of identity theft, impersonation, forgery and parading fake academic credentials.

“As we all know, it's the duty of the Police, Department of State Security Services (DSS) and the National Assembly to do due diligence and check the authenticity or otherwise of academic credentials presented by the Presidential nominees to occupy Ministerial position but we are amazed because this process was not followed when Timipre Sylva was nominated and confirmed by the Senate in 2019.”

“However, Chief Timipre Sylva has been unable to prove to the satisfaction of Nigerian Citizens that the academic credentials he used to become governor and subsequently Minister of Petroleum Resources are not falsified, forged or stolen from a third party.

“We are amazed that the DSS, Police and National Assembly of Nigeria have decided to keep mute in the face of fraud and sheer criminality of this magnitude. How can Nigeria move forward and compete in the global sphere when questionable characters like Chief Timipre Sylva are government circles rather than being in prison where they rightly belong,” the group further added.

The group made the following demands to the National Assembly:

“That if Mr President is truly fighting corruption and Impunity then corrupt and morally deficient people like Timipre Sylva have no reason whatsoever to continue to be in his government. So Timipre Sylva must be sacked, arrested and prosecuted for the offences of criminal theft of someone's identity.

“That Mr President must compel Chief Timipre Sylva to return all the salaries and allowances he collected while serving as Minister of Petroleum Resources because in the first place he doesn't have the required academic qualifications to seat in the Federal Executive Council.

“That the Bayelsa State House of Assembly must pass a law and de-recognize the title of "His Excellency" which Sylva fraudulent parades because he is not qualified to contest for governor in the first place owing to the fact he has no known academic certificates to his name.

“If the National Assembly refused to call for a Public Hearing on this visible anomalies over Timipre Sylva stolen identity case then we have no option but to declare a daily protest until the National Assembly act in national interest in the sense of reflecting the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.

“We also demand that the National Assembly should compel Chief Timipre Sylva to present his NYSC certificate to the public if at all he participated in the mandatory NYSC Scheme at the time of his purported graduation from the University of Port-Harcourt.

“Finally, we call on Chief Timipre Sylva (if at all he has any atom of honour left in him) to toe the path of honour and resign his position as Minister of Petroleum Resources the same way Mrs. Kemi Adeosun quietly resigned and fled the country after it was discovered that she forged her NYSC discharge certificate.”

Politics2023: Michael Nwabufo's Youth In Politics (YIP) Endorses Atiku by Itopalucky(op): 10:32am On Dec 15, 2022
Is it make or mar, or is it going to be another general elections that occupy many conversations? It is increasingly becoming clear to actual thinking people that the 2023 general elections hold alot of indices that will decide the way forward for the new Nigeria every young person seems to be clamouring for.

As the election approaches, intrigues become more active, agitation more lively and more widespread. Citizens are divided into several camps, each of which takes the name of its candidate or political representative. The entire nation falls into a feverish state; the election is then the daily text on public papers, the subject of particular conversation, the goal of all reasoning, the object of all thoughts, the sole interest of the present.

While millions of Nigerians ponder on who takes the mantle of taking the country away from the present predicament rampaging the energy of growth; a young Nigerian Michael Nwabufo aka "Mike Premium" and convener of highly acclaimed Youth In Politics (YIP); a group that holds it sway in practicalizing Sensitization amongst Nigerian people against vote-buying. The group further created a sustainable flow between citizen participation, community development, and what true governance stands for.

The young techpreneur and crusader spoke tough during a recent meet-and-greet Press Parley with Media Hub International in Abuja. He criticised the current situation of the country and placed blame on the Buhari-led administration.

"2023 general election is just that crossroad for every Nigerian Youth. What Youths In Politics is doing as a unit is of paramount importance to the entire electioneering process. We are majorly exploring the issues around the 2023 elections and getting people educated on why they need to vote.

Yes, we have endorsed His Excellency Atiku Abubakar because we believe in his political capacity and his economic developmental wit. The Muhammadu Buhari's led administration has cost this country alot; that is why we are clamouring for an Atiku Abubakar’s Presidency. He is our pin-up President. He knows areas to tackle with prompt attention. He understands this country to a very large extent, and has traversed the length and breathe of this nation. He served as Vice President for eight years, and helped Nigeria transition into the democratic values we enjoy today. His experience will aide a new dimension to governance. He knows his onions," Mr. Nwabufo said.

Mr. Micheal Nwabufo whose Organisation is set to launch a new reel of Voter sensitization titled #KnowYourVote, talked about the many possibilities Nigeria has if the young people gets involved in the whole processes.

"Obviously, the electorates are slowly losing their voting power by exchanging it for money and other material things. We saw the need to carry millions of young Nigerians along. Both at home and in diaspora, young people are holding their own amongst critical mass. So we have commenced the #KnowYourVote campaign nationwide. One thing is to get your PVC to vote, another thing is knowing where your vote is going. So we decided to launch the #KnowYourVote campaign to help aid the electorates in knowing the value of their votes in their approach towards a new Nigeria," Micheal Nwabufo concluded.

PoliticsGroup Calls Out Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister On Identity Theft, Forgery Cases by Itopalucky(op):
….alleges collusion by DSS and other security agencies in the matter

Citizens Initiative For Better Nigeria (CIBN) has on Monday, 5th December, 2022 called out Nigeria’s State Minister for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva on cases bothering on identity theft, impersonation, giving false evidence, forgery and inconsistency in academic certificates.

In a press statement by Patriot Abdulmalik Alpha, its Spokesperson, at NUJ House, Utako, Abuja; the group said; “Some time in early September, 2022 we woke up to the news that the true identity of a Governorship Aspirant for Bayelsa State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and sitting Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva was in doubt. This came on the heels of a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1563/2022 which was filed by the Incorporated Trustees of Transparency Advocacy for Development Initiative (TADI) and later assigned to Hon. Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court 8 Abuja.

“The suit which has the Director-General, Department of State Services (DSS), Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and others as Defendants seeks, amongst other ancillary reliefs, A DECLARATION that by the interpretation of Sections 366, 364 and 158 (2) of the Penal Code Act, Cap 532 Laws of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja 1990 read together with the Seventh Schedule of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), Mr. Timipre Sylva sued as 7th Defendant is overdue for arrest and prosecution for the offences of identity theft, impersonation and forgery.

Also, TADI is praying the Honourable Court for AN ORDER OF MANDAMUS COMPELLING the Director-General of DSS and IGP to perform their legal duties under Sections 1, 2 (3) and 8 of the National Security Agencies Act, 1986 read together with Instrument No. 1 of 1999 as well as Section 4 of the Police Act, 2020 by forthwith arresting and prosecuting Mr. Timipre Sylva sued as 7th Defendant for the offences of identity theft, impersonation and forgery punishable under the extant laws.

“We recall vividly that while undergoing screening as Governorship and Ministerial candidate before the Bayelsa State Gubernatorial Screening Committee in 2007 as well as the Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives in 2019 Chief Timipre Sylva presented certain academic certificates which have been found to contain noticeable anomalies. It was indeed the duty of the DSS and Police to do due diligence and check the authenticity or otherwise of the said academic certificates but they failed to perform their duty for reasons we cannot fathom. Nevertheless, Chief Timipre Sylva has been unable to prove to the satisfaction of Nigerian citizens that those academic certificates which he parades everywhere till date are not falsified, forged or stolen from a third party.”

“We are amazed that the DSS, Police and National Assembly of Nigeria have decided to keep mute in the face of corruption, fraud and sheer criminality. As far as we are concerned, the fight against corruption and all forms of criminalities should start from persons who occupy public offices. The security operatives cannot be found to be chasing “Yahoo Yahoo Boys” up and down when the real criminals are in government circles. The present situation reminds us of the historic postulation by George Orwell in the book “Animal Farm”. It goes to show that all Nigerians are equal but some Nigerians, especially those serving in government, are more equal than the others.

“Recent search at the Federal High Court reveals that in a bid to escape the long arms of our laws Chief Timipre Sylva has put in a Deed Poll and Federal Republic of Nigeria Official Gazette dated 11th and 12th May, 2022 as his defence. In those documents, Sylva attempted; albeit belatedly to convince the Honourable Court to accept that the manifestly conflicting names ANAGHA TIMIPERE, MARLIN ANAGHA TIMIPRE, ANAGHA TIMIPRE MARLIN and CHIEF TIMIPRE SYLVA appearing on the academic certificates he parades all belong to him. Even though we are not going here to act as Judge over the case already pending before the Honourable Court, we wish to let Nigerians know that the said Deed Poll and Gazette are nothing but shams. They are mere pieces of paper fraudulently procured by Sylva to mislead the Court and wriggle himself out of being prosecuted and jailed.

“The questions we are asking are that; why did Timipre Sylva wait until May, 2022 before regularizing his so called “names” after he had used them to confer undue advantage on himself when he was screened and given the positions of Governor of Bayelsa State in 2007 and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources in 2019? Has he not lied on oath either in his INEC or Screening Forms while jostling for the above mentioned positions? Does Sylva think that there is time limit to criminal liability in Nigeria? What makes him think that the Honourable Court cannot compel the DSS and Police to arrest and prosecute despite his position in government?

“Let us point out that CIBN will resist any ploy to make the laws applicable to only poor people in Nigeria. We encourage TADI to fight on in court while we pursue justice through other civil actions. In the next few days, we shall lead patriotic Nigerians in their thousands to barricade the National Assembly Complex, Aso Rock Villa, Bayelsa State Government House and other strategic locations for purpose of demanding that Timipre Sylva be brought to book as a matter of urgency. Meanwhile, we call on the good people of Bayelsa State to resist the candidature of Timipre Sylva at the staggered Governorship Election slated to hold in 2024. The last time we checked, Bayelsa State being part of the oil rich region has reputable Professors, Technocrats and Administrators who are also contesting to become Governor. The electorates must not take chances or allow a person like Timipre Sylva with “controversial identity” to win election and govern them anymore,” the group further said.

“As we wait for the case against the Director-General, Department of State Services (DSS) and others to be heard on 24th January, 2023 we appeal to the conscience of President Muhammadu Buhari being a leader with zero tolerance for corruption to remove Timipre Sylva from office as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources. He must not be allowed to continuously remain in public office and use taxpayers’ money to defend illegalities which he committed years ago in his personal capacity. If Nigeria must be taken more seriously in the comity of nations, then no citizen no matter how highly placed should be considered too big to be treated in accordance with our laws,” the group said.

He insisted that it has become imperative for Jonathan to urgently broker peace between the Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the warring G-5 Governors led by Nyesom Wike, in order to stabilise the party and brighten its chances of winning the 2023 general elections.

The Bayelsa-born political activist said: “I want to use this opportunity once more, to apologise to you for the wrong position we took in 2015.

“We are sorry, we now know better. Nigerians are faced with so many economic woes and insecurity since 2015.

“I’d like to use this opportunity to implore you to find a place to forgive me personally and the entire country in general.

“The only way to show that forgiveness is by playing a role to finding a lasting solution to the challenges confronting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the moment.

“This is coming against the background that you are seen as a father and a leader to the entire good people of Nigeria.

“Don’t look away when your house is burning. I recognise your statesmanship status and so many Nigerians support that position.

“However, as a father to the entire PDP family, on whose platform you had governed this country and the country which you left about seven years ago has come to be known as the poverty capital of the world.

“I employ you in the spirit of peace and the love of country to intervene and bring the warring factions together to ensure we coast to victory in order to salvage the country come next year.

“Kindly do all that is possible to make PDP return to power to enable us continue with the trajectory of good governance. PDP is the only party that can rescue and unify the country.

“You are a symbol of peace in Africa, let the role being continuously played by you in Africa reflect in Nigeria.

“Nigerians and I have made mistakes and we acknowledge the mistakes. Therefore, we plead with you to find a place in your heart to forgive and forget as life is not devoid of mistakes.

“Our great leader, the symbol of peace in Nigeria in particular and Africa in general, find a place to forgive us all as you celebrate your birthday today.

“Once more, a very big congratulations to you and the entire family. We pray the good Lord will continue to bless and strengthen you in all you do in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
