CareerPetroleum Agency Boss Komolafe Cancels 60th Birthday Celebration Over Economy by Itopalucky(op): 11:59am On Sep 28, 2023
Chief Executive Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, has cancelled the 60th birthday celebration thanksgiving and dinner party being put together for him by close friends, family and associates.

Citing the prevailing economic conditions in the country, Engr. Komolafe said, such celebration “would amount to some level of insensitivity, especially for a public servant, to engage in elaborate ceremony of any kind, even if sponsored”

His words according to a statement personally signed by himself; “My attention has been drawn to preparations by family, friends and well wishers to celebrate me this weekend on the occasion of my 60th birthday, which fell on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

“It is common and in fact traditional, in our clime, for family and associates to celebrate their own when they achieve milestones in life. I deeply appreciate this gesture of my well-wishers to call together friends and associates to thank God and later sit together to wine and dine in an event planned for Saturday, September 30, 2023.

“However, given the mood of the nation at this time that people are struggling to weather the current economic storm and government is making concerted efforts to halt the slide in the country’s economy, it would amount to some level of insensitivity, especially for a public servant, to engage in elaborate ceremony of any kind, even if sponsored.

“I completely understand how this will be received by family, friends and associates, but I would plead that both the thanksgiving service and the reception planned for this Saturday be stood down.

“I have every reason to thank God for His grace upon my life and how far he has brought me; and sincerely appreciate my family, friends and associates who have shown me love and have been felicitating with me.

“I sincerely regret the inconveniences the cancellation of the two events might cause invited guests. At this time, we are all expected to make sacrifices for the sake of our nation and our people.

May the Almighty God bless everyone and help our country’s recovery and growth efforts.”

PoliticsN/Delta Peace Body Cautions Akpabio Against Inciting Ethnic Violence by Itopalucky(op): 7:42pm On Sep 27, 2023
A pro-peace organization, Alliance for Peace in the Niger Delta (APND), has called on the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to concentrate on the demands of his office and stop actions and unguarded utterances that have the capacity to fuel ethnic divisions and violence in his home state, Akwa Ibom.

The body also frowned at what it called “deliberate actions and vituperation made by Senator Akpabio in denigration of the person and office of the Governor of Akwa Ibom, Pastor Umo Eno” as well as the institution of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly

APND in a statement on Wednesday by its National Coordinator, Nsikak Francis, lamented that the comments by Senator Akpabio at the opening of the National Assembly leaders retreat in Ikot Ekpene as well as at the 36th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the State held in Uyo, the State Capital, could pitch the people against themselves, disrupt the peace and trigger widespread ethnic violence in the State.

The peace body insisted that Senator Akpabio’s “unguarded outbursts” on issues relating to the traditional institution leadership as well as the mapping of Akwa Ibom State are “to say the least, thoughtless, unstatesmanlike and ostensibly intended to cause divisions and unnecessary conflict among the various peoples of Akwa Ibom State.

“It is instructive to note that the people of Akwa Ibom State are living in peace and tranquility since the last eight years, under the immediate past Governor of the State, Udom Emmanuel, and the incumbent Pastor Umo Eno.

However, it is saddening that this peace is now being threatened by the unguarded utterances by Senator Akpabio, apparently for personal political reasons.

“More distressing is that our check has revealed that the Senate President is allegedly the brain behind the traditional institution leadership arrangement. His current revolt and outburst against the issue therefore appears to be with the intention to cause crisis.

“This body counsels Senator Akpabio not to import into Akwa Ibom State the same proclivity which is brewing serious crisis in the Senate for which he is facing impeachment threats, the same proclivity which destabilized the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs under his watch as Minister and for which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nearly scrapped the Ministry.

“Akwa Ibom is a home of peace. The people have elected a new Governor in the person of Pastor Eno and they are happy with his leadership style. Senator Akpabio has had his time as the State governor. He is now the Senate President, he should concentrate on his duties in the National Assembly and desist from this unnecessary attempt to cause crisis in Akwa Ibom State”, the APND stated.

The peace body called on the people of Akwa Ibom State to discountenance Senator Akpabio’s antic and continue to protect the peace that pervades their state.

It also called on President Tinubu to call Senator Akpabio to order adding that his activities in the State, if not addressed, is capable of causing very serious crisis in the State but also in the entire Niger Delta region with a devastating negative consequence on the economy of the nation.

The group however urged Nigerians to hold Senator Akpabio responsible should there be any ethnic-based breakdown of Law and Order in Akwa Ibom State.

PoliticsUnity Of Kogi West Candidates Outshines Elders Indecision - Oladele Juwon by Itopalucky(op): 9:13pm On Sep 26, 2023
26 September 2023

UNITY OF KOGI WEST CANDIDATES OUTSHINES ELDERS INDECISION.

In a show of maturity, political wisdom and tactical mastery, the November 11, 2023 Gubernatorial candidates of Kogi West extraction provoked excitement when they announced their resolve to act together in presenting a common front against Yahaya Bello's third term agenda in Kogi State. By this action, they have put into shade the vacillation and procrastination of mediation groups like Okun Development Association, Kogi West Elders, Kogi West/Central Elders and Okun Think Tank, and other's.

Due to conflict of interest, mainly bothering on the partisan interests of some of the leaders of these groups, they found it awkward to be recommending opposition candidates to contest against the ruling Party. This explains their months of motion without movement . It was the same way that some of them endorsed Yahaya Bello for a second term under the ignorance of getting Bello to support someone from the West as his successor. Though we now know better, some of the leaders seem to have learnt nothing and have forgotten nothing.

It is, therefore, a huge relief that the Candidates have taken the task headon as they are poised to shape the political destiny of their people. Having achieved this feat, it has become untenable for any group to project and partisan endorsement of any candidate as we head for the November election. The Elders must allow the new rapprochement to run its course. Since they did not speak when it was expedient, they should now remain silent for this season.

The intervention of the Elders is not totally out of place, but as it is the case in a family with many children's it could be hard to express preference for one. It is, however, always a great pleasure when children grow up and begin to manage themselves better than their parents could do. This is what is playing out now.

We call on Senator Dino Melaye, Hon Leke Abejide and Foluso Braimoh to drive their new initiative to a logical conclusion, and network with other candidates from Kogi East and fair minded Kogites from the Central to recalibrate the power equation and inter-regional integration in Kogi State.

And for those who boast that President Tinubu would not allow opposition parties a level playing field in the November election, familiarity with the Tinubu political evolution would reveal that the President has emerged from the rubbles opposition He can not now barely fangs against them. That could amount to democratic ingratitude . As it was in the beginning, so it is now, and so shall it ever be. It's a new dawn in Kogi West and Kogi State.

PoliticsLady Of Justice And The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) by Itopalucky(op): 11:04am On Sep 04, 2023
By Mr. Hanson Paul

The symbolism of the Lady of Justice in the world's legal system is globally adopted in the administration of Justice.

The Lady of Justice is the moral compass across all judicial systems and the ultimate symbol of impartiality and fairness that apply to everyone regardless of power, religion, race and status.

Therefore we wish to remind our Honourable Justices at the Presidential Elections Petition Tribunal (PEPT) that;

1. THE BLIND FOLD SIGNIFIES: Objectivity, Fairness to all and Impartiality in the administration of justice.

2. THE TOGA/ROPE SIGNIFIES:
The mantle of responsibility and high level philosophy that accompanies those who practice law and enforce Justice.

3. DOUBLE EDGED SWORD: Symbolises Authority, Respect and Fair Rulling

4. THE SCALE: Symbolises a thorough weighing of the evidences and claims presented before her.

As the stipulated time-frame for the conclusion of the petition at the Tribunal and date for delivery of judgement draws near, it is therefore a time of test for our Judiciary and we believe the Justices will abide by the ethics of the noble legal profession to save our democracy.

PoliticsBiden’s Invite To Tinubu, Inappropriate, Unacceptable, Says Timi Frank by Itopalucky(op): 5:34pm On Aug 30, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Wednesday, described the purported request of the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, to meet President Bola Tinubu as inappropriate, unacceptable and condemnable.

Frank said the meeting billed to take place at the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September is suspicious in view of the fact that Tinubu currently lacks legitimacy as the result of the 2023 Presidential Election is being contested in court.

He said Biden’s request conveyed by a US Presidential envoy and Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Ambassador Molly Phee, defeats the stance of the American Government on democracy and sanctity of the ballot.

“President Joe Biden is asking to meet with you on the sidelines of UNGA and you are the only African leader he has requested to meet. It is a mark of his high regard for your leadership,”
Ambassador Phee said during his meeting with Tinubu recently.

Frank said: “This move by Biden is certainly anti-American stance on rule of law and a bad example in collaborations in view of the pendency of suits challenging the declaration of Tinubu as President and multiple investigations ongoing concerning his integrity,
true identity and academic records both in Nigeria and USA.

“It's an insult to say that Tinubu is the only African president that Biden has chosen to meet on the sidelines of UNGA when they know his legitimacy deficit and the fraudulent election that brought him as president.

“For me, even if they want to discuss Africa affairs, they can discuss with any other legitimate African leader within the continent.

“However, it is clear the only reason they are seeking this meeting is to protect their selfish interests and it is for this type of unbecoming action that the US is now trying former President Donald Trump.

Frank who is the Ambassador of the United Liberation Movement for West Papau (ULMWP), to the East Africa and Middle East, added:
“It is disheartening to note that at a time when everyone is eagerly waiting on the outcome of the Presidential Election Tribunal, the US will seek to play to the gallery by inviting Tinubu as the sole African leader Biden wishes to meet at UNGA.

He urged Biden to rescind his invitation to Tinubu pending the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on the suits challenging the legitimacy of the President.

He said: “The USA should know that any other African President can collaborate with them for mutual benefit provided they legitimately hold power in trust for the people.

“Why is President Biden in a hurry to meet Tinubu at UNGA other than to protect US interest in the West African sub-region, especially in view of recent military coup in Niger Republic and the reports of a putsch in Gabon.

“We are curious as to the true intent of the proposed meeting save for divide-and-rule-system employed
by developed countries in their relations with African countries, otherwise there is no need for this hurry to meet Tinubu until the courts have decided the true winner of the Nigerian Presidential election.

“The US must allow the Nigerian judicial system to determine the legitimacy or otherwise of President Tinubu before it seeks to discuss sensitive issues with him concerning the West African sub-region.

“This is very crucial and necessary as anything otherwise will seek to legitimize an illegality at a time when Nigerians are eager to see to a final closure on this matter.

“Again, need we say that this kind of bestowal of recognition on illegitimate administrations by America and other western powers is responsible for new incidences of coups in the African subregion?

“We must state categorically that some of us as allies and friends of USA have nothing against American pursuing its interests in Nigeria or Africa but they must not do it to the detriment of people of Nigeria or Africa.

“Rather, diplomatic and business relations and collaborations between the two sovereign nations should be done in a manner befitting both nations considering the views and interest of the Nigerian people. We believe in them but they must try and also do things that will benefit Nigeria.

“As true friends, we will call them out when they go wrong and applaud them when they're right as regards issues concerning Africa in general and Nigeria in particular.”

PoliticsSenator Dickson Hosts Media Influencers, Unveils His Plans On Climate Change by Itopalucky(op): 11:44am On Aug 30, 2023
Former Bayelsa governor and current Senator representing Bayelsa West senatorial district, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, welcomed Social Media Practitioners from across the nation today, gathering for a media interaction to discuss his new role as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Ecology and Climate Change.

At the media interaction, Senator Dickson highlighted his notable accomplishments spanning various sectors in Bayelsa, including the recent Excellence in Environmental Leadership Award for his outstanding contributions to the issues of the environment. This prestigious award was bestowed on him by a coalition of 20 non-governmental organizations.

Furthermore, Senator Dickson’s achievements encompass advancements in Education, such as the establishment of the Ijaw National Academy in Kaiama, the implementation of the Bayelsa Health Insurance scheme, and his initiatives that led to a reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates. Notably, his support for pregnant women registered with the state government played a significant role.

Under his leadership, the introduction of free boarding schools transformed the educational landscape, providing children with improved access to quality education. This initiative was especially significant as the concept of boarding schools was non-existent in Bayelsa before he assumed office.

Governor Dickson’s focus on healthcare infrastructure led to the establishment of numerous primary health facilities, over 80 primary health facilities were constructed, ensuring that quality healthcare reaches even the most remote corners of the state. These facilities have become crucial centres for providing essential medical services and preventive care to Bayelsans, making healthcare accessible and reliable.

The transformation of Bayelsa’s infrastructure during Governor Dickson’s administration was truly remarkable. The construction of the Bayelsa International Airport has not only enhanced connectivity but also opened up new avenues for economic growth and tourism. In addition, his commitment to improving the efficiency of the civil service streamlined governance, leading to better service delivery.

Governor Dickson’s prowess in economic management was evident from the impressive growth in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state. Under his leadership, the IGR surged from a modest 60 million Naira per month to an astonishing figure of over one billion Naira. This achievement reflects his strategic planning and implementation of effective revenue-generation strategies.

Recognizing the importance of security, Governor Dickson launched the state security outfit, ‘Operation Doo Akpo,’ equipping it with state-of-the-art security equipment to combat crime and ensure the safety of residents.

Furthermore, his support for education continued through scholarships, ensuring that Bayelsa’s brightest minds had the opportunity to pursue higher education. Additionally, the initiative of providing automatic employment to First Class graduates demonstrates his commitment to nurturing local talent and fostering growth.

Also, his contributions include the establishment of a substantial Cassava Processing Plant, along with the founding of numerous secondary and tertiary institutions.

You would recall that Senator Dickson was a recipient of the Excellence in Environmental Leadership Award presented by Celestine Okwudili who represented Mrs. Ene Obi of Action Aid at the event.

Okwudili said the award was conferred on the Senator for his contributions and stewardship in sustaining a healthy environment while serving as Governor of Bayelsa State between 2012 and 2020.

He explained that the Senator, during his tenure as governor, empanelled an International Commission on Oil Spills to assess environmental damages, determine responsibility, and develop a new legal framework for accountability and compensation in the area.

In his speech at the occasion, Dickson explained that the panel he constituted as governor, took samples of the blood of residents of the oil-producing areas and after laboratory tests, it was discovered that there was heavy metal poisoning in their bodies.

Dickson said he drew the attention of the multinational oil firms to the development but that rather than doing something about it, they started fighting him.

He lamented that the situation was still reoccurring even as he urged the attention of his successor to the unfortunate situation and asked him to take action.

He said, “The oil companies were not cooperating with me then. They were even fighting me but I did not mind them because I knew I was fighting a just course.”

He also explained how he recruited 250 graduates to protect the environment, especially the forest resources.

The Senator called on the federal government to pay attention to the reckless deforestation taking place across the country.

The Senator promised to take advantage of his new position as Chairman, of the Senate Committee on Ecology and Climate Change to collaborate with all critical stakeholders on the issue of the environment.

He pledged to use all platforms available to him to advance the cause of the environment, the ecology and climate change.

"As the Chairman of the Senate Committee of Ecology and Climate Change, I will work with all NGOs in Nigeria, support the efforts of all institutions and bodies, to advance the cause of the environment, particularly to join the campaign against climate change," he said.

PoliticsNigerian Youths Call On Nigeria Judiciary To Dispense “JUSTICE WITH HONOUR” by Itopalucky(op): 10:36am On Aug 23, 2023
A group of Nigerians youths recently called on Nigerian Judiciary to dispense “justice with honour” as they get set to rule on the 2023 election petition cases.
“Equality and justice are natural law principles that we must abide by and the same will result in egalitarianism and fairness.

“The focus of Nigerians has been drawn to Justice Flora Azinge’s cry of concern over a possible attempt to hinder the administration of justice by cash enticement at the State and House of Representatives election petition tribunal now taking place in Kano State.

“As concerned Nigerians we will like to state that, in all uncertainties, the Judiciary must stand tall as the last beacon of hope for the common man. The Judiciary’s accountability to citizens cannot be compromised, in the ongoing tribunal processes, our democracy’s strength relies on their commitment to justice,” the group said.

“Therefore, we use this medium to applaud Justice Flora Azinge for her demonstration of uprightness and urge the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) and other State Election Petition Tribunals to follow suit and speak out against any type of financial inducement at the ongoing Election tribunal cases across Nigeria.

“Judicial accountability and transparency are crucial for fostering public confidence and re-affirming the Judiciary’s role as a protector of peace and justice. As the advancement of any community and nation rests on the administration of justice, we urge the Judiciary to rise above political pressures and maintain accountability to its constituents. We would therefore like to remind the Judges that only when justice is upheld and people’s lives and honour are secure, it is then that a nation or community can be considered to be truly developed.

“We therefore urge the Nigeria Judiciary to dispense ‘Justice with honour’, we urge them to ‘Do the right thing’ knowing that if they do the right thing ‘Heaven will not fall’ but rather there will be rejoicing in Heaven over the state of affairs in Nigeria,” the group further said.

PoliticsYouth Group Launches "Call For Justice In Nigeria" by Itopalucky(op): 11:22am On Aug 18, 2023
• calls on Nigeria Judiciary to uphold justice

A Youth Group has made a call on the Nigeria Judiciary to uphold justice as it gets set to give verdicts on the highly disputed February 25 Presidential election.

In a statement made available to the press on Friday, the group said; "we might not all be as wonderful as Martin Luther King Jr., Tafawa Balewa, Nnamdi Azikiwe or Nelson Mandela, but we can all strive to be like them. They spoke up for justice and fought against injustice and oppression."

"Our justice system in Nigeria has be undermined for too many years already, the rule of law have been under serious attack from leaders and political actors that have used their wealth and influence to deny justice from being served. What was known as the voice of the common man is gradually becoming the forces against the common man," the group lamented.

The group further said "the call for justice today has never been this loud, the voices of Nigerians are all over the globe, demanding for justice and fairness in our judicial system because a dysfunctional judicial system means that the poor and vulnerable are denied justice."

"All eyes are set on the Judiciary because without an independent judiciary, Nigeria cannot have a functioning democracy. Our judicial system must be strengthened to ensure that democracy can thrive. Therefore, we call on the judiciary to remain steadfast in upholding the principles of fairness, equity and justice. No matter the pressure, it must uphold the rule of law and ensure that justice is served without delay.

"As concerned Nigerians we shall continue to call on the judiciary to do the right thing without fear or intimidation, we will continue to do so as citizens because judicial scrutiny will prevent the possibility of unqualified candidate assuming the presidency, it is our duty as citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to protect our nation from potential harm.

"This call for justice is to remind Nigerians that justice has a voice, it was heard in Malawi and then in Kenya, it will be heard in Nigeria and heaven will not fall," the group further said.

"We own the future, and the future is now! All young people worldwide should take note of today's significance as we commemorate another international youth day.

"Since the youths are unquestionably the leaders of the future and the change-makers of today, we want to take this occasion to reiterate our commitment to magnify the voice of the youths.

"As young people pushing for a better Nigeria, we walked to the streets to remind Nigerians that despite our joy, we should never lose sight of our call for a better Nigeria—one that can care for its expanding youth, one that works, and one that respects the rule of law."

"We are committed to making Nigeria a better place, and in order to do so, we urge the judiciary to uphold the law during these hard times. The Judiciary's responsibility to the people is a key component of democracy. Let's keep a close eye on how the Presidential tribunal plays out to make sure the procedure is fair and just.

PoliticsTinubu Seeking State Of Emergency, Suspension Of Election Tribunal - Timi Frank by Itopalucky(op): 11:54am On Aug 05, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Saturday, raised the alarm over alleged plot by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to go to war over coup in Niger to enable him declare a state of emergency in Nigeria and suspend the ongoing Presidential Election tribunal.

Frank who gave this warning in a statement in Abuja, accused the President of capitalising
on his position as ECOWAS chairman to legitimize his stolen election mandate in Nigeria.

He insisted that Tinubu’s warmongering over Niger is selfishly motivated as he seeks to through it gain political capital by legitimizing his administration and securing the recognition of international bodies that hitherto have not recognized him as duly elected president.

He warned the President not to lead Nigeria into war with Niger as the consequence of such an action would result in long term economic, political and social devastation of the country.

He said: “It is clear to discerning minds that Tinubu wants to find an alibi to declare war in Niger and under that declare a state of emergency in Nigeria which will invariably lead to suspension of the ongoing sitting of the Presidential Election tribunal.

“He is not out to restore democracy in Niger Republic. He is out to legitimize and gain recognition for his government from western allies. Let Nigeriens solve their problems, Nigeria has enough challenges of its own,” he declared.

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, also accused ECOWAS Heads of States and Governments of not working to deepen democracy in the subregion by ensuring good governance.

He said they often remain silent when Presidents illegally steal the people’s mandate through electoral fraud and manipulate constitutional provisions to elongate their tenure in office.

“It is a shame that ECOWAS’ Presidents always jerks back to life when a fellow president has been dethroned like the present scenario in Niger Republic,” he said.

He added: “I condemn the coup in Niger and I will support all altruistic efforts to restore democratic governance in that country. But I reject moves by Tinubu to use the Niger coup as a ruse to overturn the ongoing court process meant to determine the actual winner of the February 25th, 2023 Presidential election.

“I call on well meaning Nigerians to dissuade Tinubu from leading the country into an unnecessary war which among others will inflict heavy casualty on our armed forces and breed more widows in addition to what Boko Haram, bandits and other criminal elements have done already,” he said.

He insisted that former President Muhammadu Buhari, a retired army general, never went to war when there was coup in Guinea, Burkina Faso and Mail during his tenure “because he knew the implications. Why is Tinubu hellbent on going to war if not for self preservation in office as President?”

We are blessed with all the natural and human resources. So why have we been under the table for too long? The Africa Union project 2063 is for every African alive. Politics"I Am Very Confident In President Bola Tinubu’s Possibilities" - Oyeniyi Daniel by Itopalucky(op): 8:38am On Jul 24, 2023
In a recent interview with Apple's Bite magazine, Oyeniyi Shinayomi Daniel gave insight to the values a Tinubu-led administration will bring for Nigerians. The young entrepreneur is CEO of Oju Abuja Amala, the first of its kind dusk-to-dawn restaurant located in the Federal Capital Territory.

"I realised that there have been mixed reactions across board with the current situation of the country’s economy. I must say that it is okay to express every emotion the reality brings to you but we must also have it in mind that the Government is continuum; and the President is already setting all-inclusive principles in process.

"We can see how balanced his appointments have been thus far. He has displayed those highlighted features of 'Federal Character'. We must have it in mind that the Presidency is not just an individual, it is an institution. So, in order for the President to function, he must converge the right persons. We all know President Tinubu has a penchant in garnering the best minds in Government. He did it in Lagos, which is currently the 6th biggest economy in Africa if it were to be a country. I am very confident in President Bola Tinubu’s possibilities
," he asserted.

The Economics graduate and social commentator further urged Nigerians to rally support for President Tinubu and his administration to thrive. He highlighted benefits the removal of fuel subsidy would bring if Nigerians apply a bit of patience with the administration.

"The fuel subsidy removal is a practical way of showing that we are ready as a country to grow our economy. The Government spends a significant portion of its budget on fuel subsidies, which could be better spent on education, healthcare and infrastructure development, amongst other key sectors. I urge Nigerians to maintain their calm and patience. This Government is still very young and you can already tell that it is a pragmatic Government. Look at some of the bills the President has signed in the last few weeks. They are bills that will impact greatly on us as a nation."

"The economy would eventually find its balance, regardless. Asiwaju has a very viable economic team. With the likes of Wale Edun and co, I was thrilled when I saw the President's robust economic plan for Nigeria. Implementing this plan will spur economic growth and reduce unemployment drastically. This only tells you that there is hope for this great nation to make her statement once again as the Giant of Africa," Mr. Oyeniyi Shinayomi Daniel concluded.

PoliticsTimi Frank To Tribunal Justices: Do Justice To Nigerians by Itopalucky(op): 5:10pm On Jul 23, 2023
Justices presiding over the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) have been called upon to give justice to Nigerians now that it is clear that former vice President ,Atiku Abubakar won the February 25, 2023 presidential election as against Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was erroneously declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, who made the call in a statement in Abuja, also urged the Appeal Court Justices to use the opportunity afforded by the revelation by INEC that Atiku won 21 states in
the presidential election to redeem the lost image of the judiciary.

He insisted that now that INEC has voluntarily admitted on record that Atiku won 21 states instead of the 12 states it earlier credited to him, the Tribunal need not look further but to declare the former Vice President as the authentic winner of the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

INEC had, in its response to Atiku Abubakar’s and PDP’s joint petition revealed that the PDP presidential candidate won 21 States of the Federation in the February 25 presidential election.

The 21 states listed by INEC as having been won by Atiku and PDP are Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Ekiti, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Osun, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.

“This definitely shows clearly that Atiku’s results were swapped with that of Tinubu to make him win, albeit fraudulently. The justices owe it to themselves, Nigerians and God to declare Atiku the rightful winner of the 2023 presidential election.

“We know the justices of the Appeal Court hearing the petition challenging the the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as winner of the presidential election are under tremendous pressure coupled with vile threats and intimidation to maintain an illegal status quo, but they must not succumb because the pressure of God that will be on them should they neglect this material fact would be more than the pressure from men.

“It must never be said that the man who won the least number of states and votes became president as against the man who won majority of states and votes.

“We cannot afford to go back to the era of impunity in this country when the Nigeria Governors’ conducted an election and declared that man who won 15 votes winner rather than the man that won 19 votes.

Frank who is the Ambassador of the United Liberation Movement for West Papau (ULMWP), to the East Africa and Middle East, urged the justices to be courageous in doing substantial justice in the present case, despite high-wired pressures and intimidations against them notwithstanding.

He said: “Now that that the tribunal's justices have heard arguments from all the parties in the suits, they should know that Nigerians are looking forward to them to do substantial justice and not ruling based on technicalities.

“We want to remind you that whatever judgment you give at the end of the day will remain as precedent in future. We implore you not to hand down a precedent where clear acts of criminality as witnessed during the Presidential Election will now be the law and order of the day in Nigeria.

“We strongly hold that this is not time to rule based on technicalities or to throw out well-reasoned, germane, valid and powerful submissions by the opposition parties.

“We want to remind you that this is one case where the world is waiting for the outcome and besides, the case presents the Nigerian judiciary an ample opportunity to write its name in gold in the heart of Nigerians and to prominently emplace Nigeria in the map of countries that believe and uphold the principles of fairness, equity and justice. Whatever you do with this judgment is what you will be remembered for.

“The Justices must be resolute and remain faithful to their oath of office and allegiance by carrying out their assignment without fear or favour.

“They must not succumb to any form of blackmail or intimidation. They must borrow a leaf from their counterparts in Kenya who recently saved their country from catastrophe through their courageous verdict.”

Politics"Nigeria Is Fast Turning Into A Tech-driven Society" - Engr. Charles Aluge by Itopalucky(op): 12:17pm On Jul 21, 2023
In a recent Meet and Greet Press Parley in Abuja, a Tech Expert and Technology Solution Provider, Charles Osaretin Aluge emphasized on the need for small and medium scale businesses to embrace the use of online payment systems to provide digital payment solutions. "This will help streamline transactions and reduce cost," he said.

The co-founder of Eron Technologies Limited further applauded the Nigerian Federal Government's approach "in promoting tech-driven awareness in our society".

“If you look deeply at the Nigerian business environment, you will realized we are beginning to embrace practical models. We are gradually evolving around a fully digitized society that helps governance improve productivity with process automation.
Of course, there is no debate that automating business processes contributes to a country’s success.

"People and processes are the foundation of every nation. Process automation in accounts payable, marketing, sales, customer service, and human resources are essential if a business wants to grow and succeed versus just surviving. Automation reduces human intervention, so workflows are streamlined and standardized. In addition, errors are reduced, there will be accountability, costs are lowered, and the Government becomes more agile. It simply helps to reduce corruption too,” he said.

Mr. Charles Osaretin Aluge who is a graduate in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from Ambrose Alli University and holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Prestigious Aston University, Birmingham, UK; also spoke on effective ways the Government can partner with young Tech-preneurs across the country.

“As a trained Information Technology expert with a vast experience in providing technology solutions across various projects in public and private sector led organization, I started my career as a network engineer, and I have since assumed several key roles as a Senior Project Manager, Senior Business Analyst and lead consultant in reputable technology organizations. I have been opportuned to lead multiple Process Automation, Digital transformation, and Change management initiatives. Such organisations include POSSAP Solutions Ltd, where I provided IT leadership roles in the full digitalization of Police Specialized Services known as POSSAP for the Nigeria Police Force. There must be a convergence of the needs of process automation and information governance. The good news is that a number of companies in Nigeria that provide business process outsourcing and business process automation technology see this need in the market and are responding. There has been rapid adoption of cloud technologies, and the low cost of digital storage is making these solutions more affordable. As organizations consider the business process automation that fits their needs, consider these points”, he further said.

“The Nigerian Government has a couple of agencies like NiTDA, NACA, etc. These organisations can come in handy by partnering with our tech experts across the board. Business process automation and proper information governance are equally important and must coexist. A digital transformation strategy that does not incorporate both is not complete. Nigeria is in that process, and I want to commend the Government for their efforts thus far in introducing policies that will create a swift flow for digitization. This would clearly enhance economic recovery,” he further added.

Engineer Charles Osaretin Aluge is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma, an international Business Honourable Society. He is a member of Nigeria Society of Engineers (MNSE). He is involved in various charities and Non-for-Profit Organization initiatives providing coaching and mentoring classes for youths in tech.

PoliticsSenate Minority Leadership Election: Abdul Ningi Is The Best Man For The Job by Itopalucky(op): 3:21pm On Jul 03, 2023
By Hon. Auwal Garba GT

The struggle for who emerges Minority Leader of the 10th Senate is no doubt now a subject of conversation in recent times.

First of all, it is clear that the PDP has the sufficient enough numbers among the minority parties in the 10th Senate to produce the Minority Leader of the 10th Senate.

As this conversation rages ahead of the soonest days to come when the minority parties will meet to elect a leader for themselves in the Senate, one name that the cap fits is the Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ningi.

Senator Abdul Ningi is a three-times House of Representatives Member, he is a former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, a former Senator, a former Majority Leader of the Senate and a former National Organising Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Senator Abdul Ningi served as the House Majority Leader of the Nigerian House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007. He was a Member of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2011.

He was later a Deputy Majority Leader of the Senate.

In as much as a principal office election is concerned, Abdul Ningi was a former principal officer of the Nigerian Senate and hence he has the capacity and experience to lead the Minority parties in the 10th Senate.

He is a man who has stood loyal to his party, PDP, from day one (from onset of the fourth republic, 1998/1999 till date). he is a man of influence both within and outside of the Senate.

At a time like this, Abdul Ningi will no doubt bring the needed check the APC-dominated Senate needs for the betterment of Nigeria and Nigerians. Abdul Ningi is therefore the best man for the job of Minority Leader of the 10th Senate.

Politics"Nigeria Will Succeed Under President Tinubu’s Watch" - Hon. Aliyu Waziri by Itopalucky(op):
In a recent interview with 2023.ng, foremost politician and social commentator, Hon. Aliyu Usman Waziri threw his weight on the strident approach the President Tinubu's administration has exerted in governance in the last 30 days.

"Actually, there are periods considered a benchmark to measure the early success of a President, but thus far I must commend the President and his entire team on how they have approached things. The last 30 days of their Presidential term took off in symbolic significance. All the decisions they have made thus far are just the way to go. President Tinubu is highly experienced in all edges of governance; and it is obvious in his decision-making. I am glad they immediately hit the ground running," Hon. Aliyu Usman Waziri said.

He also commended the Vice President, and calls him a "prudent leader".

"I have always nodded in the affirmative to everything Vice President, Kashim Shetimma is poised on. He is a creative and remarkable leader. He started creating his vice-presidential footprint during the first few days. He knows his onions. The sectors he picked himself up from are obviously going to be useful in heading to the Economic Council. He is a product of the banking sector and a farmer; I see him as a core political economist. He is tech-driven and a prudent leader," Aliyu Usman Waziri asserted.

"I am also excited about the reshuffling at the 10th National Assembly. There will be dynamics that would come in handy for every Nigerian once NASS is in concert with the Presidency, so that they can quickly begin attempting to foster support for the President's economic stimulus package. I am very confident about where this country is going to under President Bola Tinubu's watch," Hon. Aliyu Usman Waziri concluded.

PoliticsEmefiele: Ensure Return Of Access, Gtbank Mds For Immediate Questioning - Frank by Itopalucky(op): 5:15pm On Jun 30, 2023
A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has raised the alarm on the need to invite both the Managing Director of Access Bank and his counterpart at the Guaranteed Trust Bank (GTB) following the arrest and the ongoing probe of the erstwhile Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele.

Frank said the probe of the two bank leaders was necessary based on allegations that the duo were allegedly main accomplices in aiding the atrocious acts of subversion and misappropriation of public funds meant for the welfare of the Nigerian people.

In a statement signed and released Friday in Abuja, Timi Frank also appealed to the government of United Kingdom (UK) to cooperate with Nigeria security agencies to immediately invite the duo for questioning.

Frank claimed that invitation for probe had been sent to the two managing directors.

According to him, this key information also discloses that even when invitation from the Department of State Service has been extended to these individuals to report and answer to allegations bordering on their involvement with the erstwhile Governor of the CBN, active plans are underway to undermine the invitation extended to them whilst resorting to taking refuge in the UK specifically.

"It is important to note that even when invitations have been extended to these individuals to report on Monday the 3rd of July for questioning, the MD Gtbank who was sighted today chilling in the streets of the UK had repeatedly reaffirmed his unwillingness to return to the country for any such cross examination by the DSS.

"We are also aware that four other Managing Directors of tier one banks in the country have been fingered as direct accomplices and conduit for Mr. Emefiele with the Access and Gtbank MD's playing the greater roles in aiding to defraud and fleece the nation fraudulently.

"Therefore, I'd like to call on the UK government to kindly assist the Nigerian government by disallowing any form of extended stay for these individuals who are currently in the UK for personal purposes.

"The UK government must be seen in aiding the Nigerian government by disallowing any corrupt individual, whether Private or Public servants by making the UK a haven for corrupt officials.

"As stakeholders in fighting for a corrupt free nation, we're determined to do all we can in assisting the FG eradicate all forms of corruption in the Nigerian society.

"We must also note the acquisition of two private jets by the Gtbank Managing Director with a value of over $80million which is not officially captured anywhere in their books. This fraudulent acquisition must also be properly ascertained to determine the genuineness of such largesse.

Frank also called on the State Security Service (DSS) "to do all within its powers in fishing out and bringing the enemies of Nigeria to book. We have had enough of individuals taking the country for a ride and benefitting solely for personal agradissment.

"I am convinced that the Department of State Service will take this information seriously and act accordingly in compelling these individuals to answer to their fraudulent roles in line with the provisions of the law.

"We have other key information at our disposal should the DSS oblige."

CareerA Sierra Leonean Diplomat In Kenya Turned Home Into Brothel by Itopalucky(op): 1:55pm On Jun 29, 2023
• CBK Apartments Tenants Complain About “Untouchable” Sierra Leone National Who Has Turned Home Into Brothel

A Sierra Leone national living in Central Bank Apartments along State House Road has rattled other tenants with his nasty behavior.

The D-16 tenant identified as Abdul Kargbo has apparently been keeping others up with his indecent, half dressed women. According to a resident who spoke to Kahawa Tungu on condition of anonymity, Abdul who also works with the Sierra Leone embassy brings women over to his apartment for parties till late in the night.

Other tenants say that the foreigner has turned his house into a brothel and when threatened with action he pulls the Diplomatic Immunity card.

Kahawa Tungu learnt that he lures young women into his home with intimacy gadgets and all sorts of drugs.

The late night parties end with him kicking the scantily dressed women out, most of whom black out at the neighbours doorsteps.

“Some women go throwing up on our stair cases, some black out on our doors and we are forced to help some with decent clothing and water or even take them to hospital for intoxication or offer them a place to sleep, since its late in the night,” our source said.

On February 23, 2019 he had women over for a sex orgy, our source intimated. So loud were the women that the neighbours could hardly sleep.

Most of them are worried for their children who catch the goings on from the comfort of their balconies.

“…we have young ones and teenagers. Some of these “guests” walk in almost naked and from the balcony we see them smoking all sorts of drugs and indulging in sexual activities, with some screaming on top of their voices while having sex, or sometimes fighting.

Some of us who have little children and we hardly sleep at night because of the sex noise and fights they engage in. With some screaming on top their lungs while being chased out of the house and demanding for payments,” the source continued.

The tenants now want the authorities to get involved and rid them of the menace that is Mr Adbul.

“We are tired residents and besides he is abusing our young girls. Abdul has no morals and he has no regards for our Kenyan girls.

All we are asking is that Either he moves out and takes his ill manners elsewhere, or he behaves well like any other resident by respecting everyone including the askaris at the gate.”
