Doris4ever: Comrades, am here again. I have an offer for a rental. 1. Car is Corolla 05, registered almost toks. 2. Owner insisted on 40k 3. Repair less that 20k on driver plus servicing 4. Driver will drop off and pick up owner to a seminar at Ikeja 2 times every week. 5. Owner is insisting car will be parked in his house everyday and pick up every morning.
How una see am brothers. Car owners are now being clever by half Repairs less than 20k on driver. How many individual repairs are above 20k? And he wants 40k? Who would blame the car owners anyway. With the dashboards I see here, if I have a rental car in Lagos, I'll probably ask for 50k weekly. |

ChristineC: as long as you don't earn in FX, it's not sustainable. whatever you think you are getting depreciates daily and may very well evaporate before your very eyes. I remember a transaction of $230k exchanged for that #50m less than 10 years ago. same property will require less than $60k if were today while a whooping $170k is saved. even as an investor, if you try to sell it off now at #100m, did you really make a profit? you need to sell at around #215m to maybe break even after ten years. that's silly business. most brokers in Ikoyi and VI never price their business in naira. think about it. You can edge against inflation. Someone on the Uber thread simply buys dollars and keep. That's one way. UCAP eurobond is doing 6.18% YTD, several stocks have also returned earnings double of inflation rate. These are just passive investments. I have not even gone into actual businesses. |

You're not Dangote,Elumelu and otedola....No let village people use you,50million to Japa is a better investment than investing it in Nigeria So you think 5m means the same to me now as it meant pre 2015 and 50m will mean the same thing to me 8 years from now as it means now People grow you know? Use 10m dey alright The options are endless. The 50m invested in a long term 10 year bond at a conservative 12% interest rate will give you 165m when you liquidate it while you continue doing whatever gave you the 50m in the first place. Eurobonds is another good idea to hedge against inflation. God forbid I use 50m to japa |

I think some of these grew up being privileged and protected . They don’t know there are thousands of people languishing in jail awaiting trial for as long as 10 years just for the most negligible misdemeanors.
If u tell them these things that can save their lives and that if their families , they will say u are supporting ur oppressors Even if they grew being privileged and protected, you are seeing before your very eyes how a former CBN governor having just been granted bail by the court was rearrested in the premises of the same court by the DSS. The former EFCC chairman is still languishing in the custody of the DSS, he hasn't even been charged to court. Nnamdi Kanu was cleared of all charges by the court. The FG through the AGF came up with new charges and rearrested him What of the lady who was said to be an IPOB informant, she spent 3 years in DSS custody Inibehe Effiong was locked up in prison for one month for defending his client in a defamation suit against the state governor. Sowore nko? The list goes on and on. We are all seeing these gross violation of basic human right and court orders, the least anyone can do is apply common sense and stay out of trouble. |

When you know you live in a lawless country where the rich and powerful have turned law enforcement agencies into toys they use however they want, the best you can do for yourself and those who depend on you is not to post anything defamatory that you can't substantiate.
Don't compare yourself with people living outside the country where the law works.
A word is enough for the wise. |

monerozi5590: I am not bothered sir Itsrm. People can call Buhari any name but calling him a thief or a currupt man is never true. Even his enemies will tell you this.
Please if you have time, analyse that Kelvin's guy tweets. I am not Emefiele's fan but I don't understand the negative reactions following that tweet. Emefiele will explain everything there with no sweat. Emefiele spoilt his name by going into politics and all while being the Governor of CBN sha.
CBN manages foreign exchange reserves. Is one of their core responsibilities. CBN Act 2007.
Foreign exchange reserves na assets held by CBN in foreign currency (dollar). I already knew where the Kelvin guy was heading to when I saw this three words in his posts. SDRs, foreign exchange reserves and IMF.
During Emefiele, it was non floating exchange rate. You need somehow high foreign exchange reserves to back the Naira against the dollar. We import almost everything including PMS. Like subsidy on dollar.
Yes, you can use foreign exchange reserves as collateral for loans, assets like foreign bank notes (dollars) make up foreign exchange reserves.
The Kelvin guy said the actual numbers are 50 percent of what was stated. No sane organisation or institution will give you loan without collateral.
Remember, you need high foreign exchange reserves to act as a buffer in the non floating exchange rate. Now let's say we have 10 dollars in our reserves, we borrow 10 dollars to add making 20 dollars. How much should be stated that we have in our foreign exchange reserves?
The question I expected people to be asking is why didn't Emefiele use SDRs to borrow from IMF instead of going to, in quote "two US banks" (no names). I know there are reasons for not approaching IMF, maybe constraints or something.
Buhari fixed the dollars so that things will not be too expensive even borrowing to back it up. People complained. Nigeria depends on imports, we all know.
Tinubu came and float it, no more subsidy. We can't afford it anymore. People are still complaining.
So I ask you, what exactly do we want? Until we start producing, exporting more than import and making Nigeria a very industrialised nation. The Naira will continue to depreciate against the dollars.
Dollar is the SI units of all currencies. Countries review their minimum wage with respect to the dollars to balance everything. I want FG to do the same. Not that dollars will rise and minimum wage will remain the same. Is a no no. I don't even know where to start from In other words, Buhari the saint was surrounded by thieves, he enabled and encouraged stealing but just never participated in it. I'm sure even Buhari will be shocked reading the bolded |

It's only in Nigeria a house that cost N50m to buy will be renting for N1m This most likely. Some are already outside the country and are not making enough money to pay their school fees and settle bills. As for the rent, before you even get that 1m is a big battle |

Emaprince: It's cheaper in PH compared to Lagos. I was surprised when I went to PH after election.
Here is going through the roof.
In surulere, 2bedroom flats are going for nothing less than 1.5m annually and that's not even a newly built house. You will get 2m to 2.8m for newly built 2bedflats. My younger brothers landlord increased his rent from 600k to 1.2m, he said he would have even paid the 1.2 but he had wanted to leave before now due to the environment. To get another house now don turn war, he's not seeing any decent 2 bedroom below 2.5m in the places he wants. And this is on the mainland. People in Lagos seem to be working for their Landlords. 500-800k will get you a nice and standard 2 bed apartment in most areas in PH Infact, with 1.2m, you will get a decent 2bed apartment in Odili Road and that's a highbrow area. When you get to the 3m territory, you'll be renting a fantastic duplex |

BlueRayDick: Good morning Prosper !
When I was arguing the bolded , u were busy believing the propaganda that fuel subsidy needs to go and Nigeria will be better .
I argued asking what government has done to deal with those stealing through subsidy , what has government done preventing smuggling of subsidized crude to neighboring countries and what has government done to prosecute those subsidy thieves we’ve always heard about ?
For the umpteenth time, that fuel subsidy is the only social welfare all Nigerians whether poor , extremely poor, averagely poor , middle class and upper class enjoy. The moment u take it away cos the government can’t deal with a handful of unscrupulous elements gaming the system, u are definitely suffocating those already in the lowest of low .
Some of us shouting about this thing are doing not even because of ourselves but those who don’t have anywhere or anyhow to adjust . Like me now , I’ve been privileged to receive hardship allowances to cushion the effect of the whole subsidy wahala …..but how many people have that privilege in current Nigeria where disposable income keeps reducing by the day ? Na only the bolded part I see. Do giveaway. |
