The bolded is one of the reasons Emefiele stopped selling dollars to BDCs in July 2021. He said they are contravening their licences and FX regulations. He called them agents that facilitates graft and corruption. Emefiele started dealing with banks only because they are easier to regulate. This caused scarcity of dollars in BDCs and the gap between the official rate and parallel rate widens the more. Everyone can argue where they belong to. What happens when there is reduction in FX inflow? That's another question.
The exchange rate is one of the big reasons the price of fuel keeps jumping up until FG intervention. Johnson Chuckwu, an Economics said Tinubu should not have allowed two variables to move at the same time. That perhaps, we should have hang on on the exchange rate. Then market forces will then determine the price alone and not exchange rate.
The exchange rate is the reason Rotus and Rufai keeps fighting. Rufai is for fixing and Rotus is for floating. Rufai said FG has the money to fix and Rotus told him FG doesn't have the money.
Looking back at 2012. Buhari my man said it is a scam. Most Nigerians protested against it. Sanusi, NOI and others predictions if subsidy is not removed in 2012 are coming out right.
Should we continue to borrow borrow borrow and come to a default level or we should take those hard decision to reposition the country? To reposition the country just like Tinubu said should be the focus but should be guided like one step at a time.
Corruption is one of our problems and I pray we take it seriously. I absolutely agree with this. Even those of us with elementary demand and supply economics we learnt in secondary school knew floating the Naira will be a disaster. Were it not for this temporary measure they just took, we easily could have ended up buying fuel at 1500/litre and the economy will be at the brink of total collapse. Like I said earlier, I'm glad the old man is finally coming back to his senses and reversing most of his idiotic policies. When they are ready to make the country work, we will know and will be ready to support them by bearing whatever pain we have to bear. |

2007/08 with a clean title now is over 4m.
We just cleared a 2010 Pontiac Vibes last week here with 2.850m... clearing alone ooh. Clean title cars always have high clearance fee.
You'll have to budget 5-6m bro that's the honest truth.
Some importer will even demand 7m
So be prepared ooh unless you want a salvage car.
4m was last year price not this present time. I even priced a 2011 earlier today. Them say na 7.5m I didn't even bother to ask for the last price |

larride: Any BDC that will be getting fx from the CBN will follow stringent procedures compared to how the banks do round tripping by selling to the same BDC while claiming there's no fx on ground when customers come to buy and then direct them to BDC guys inside the same bank. You remember one time when all you have to do to buy Tbills was was get a form at the bank, fill and bid at your own rate. If successful, your account gets deducted. Maybe the CBN can do something like that for the Dollar. Everybody bids to get it directly from them eliminating both BDCs and the banks. |

Ibime: Naira rising for one day is not evidence of it working. It's just sign of Government intervention/speculators on that day. Unless Govt plans and has capacity to intervene everyday, it will find it's square root slowly but surely over time. Nigeria spent over $12bln defending Naira last year so I'm not sure how far $3bln will go They will need less $ defending it at 750 than they needed defending it at 450 last year Also, with round tripping out of the picture, the demand for the $ will be less. |

Later I had the galaxy duos phone 192.. Something model, cannot remember exactly. Infact it was in Dubai as it was launched I bought it before it came to naija. One day the phone just went dead. New phone oh. Sent it to Samsung service center in naija. The phone was there for months before it was fixed. Since then, I dumped Samsung for Huawei. When the Samsung works sha. It is quite good. An iPhone that came out same time with this samusung will sell twice the price. The Samsung is a beast no doubt. It's only unique to the S20 |

BlueRayDick: I don’t agree with David on the bold. He’s making a huge accusation he can’t back up with evidence .
The media in Nigeria is regulated , they are bound by some laws and ethics unlike David . They can’t just make bold and be relying on videos posted by terrorists, they can only rely on official government’s account of the story .
It’s good we have people like David and other independents who can be checking the veracity of government’s account of these things , but we can’t accuse the media of cover-up when we don’t know if they actually have the information or May run into trouble for posting unverifiable evidences Exactly. David has nothing to lose. Those with hundreds of millions of Naira in investments will not throw it away. |

BlueRayDick: Do u blame them for trying to enjoy what our elites enjoyed for years?
I watched one Kemi Olunloyo's video recently and she talked about the live they lived while schooling in the UK back in the days. She talked about how Bukola Saraki was dating Toyin Ojora and when they fought how Toyin's mum Ojuolape Ojora had to fly to the UK to settle their quarrel. These were teenagers whose parents were accessing pounds through the form A u described above to pay their fees. Dem Fani Kayode, Bianca Ojukwu, Kemi Olunloyo and other children of the elites then. These people don dey spend naija money since they were teenagers
Na when middle class begin emulate dem to enjoy some of those privileges dem block am. Well, whoever wants to school abroad should pay for it. Whether it's politicians enjoying it or the middle class, the whole idea of Form A has never made sense to me. |

BlueRayDick: Someone I know who paid the final part of his daughter's M.Sc school fees in the UK shortly after the subsidy removal & floating of naira; the daughter had to call him specially and started raining prayers on his head. She told him that some of her school mates who did self-sponsored japa are stuck and are contemplating dropping out of their programmes.
The thing really affect people gan o I no even too get pity for those ones. They were part of the problem. You know what they used to do? When it's time to pay school fees of say 2k pounds, they send it to Nigeria at like 900 to a naira, collect 1.8m, apply for form A through the banks to pay the fees at 550 to a naira which comes to about 1.1m naira. They keep the remaning 700k. So for every 2k pound they need to pay, the actual money they need is like 1.2k pounds. Now they have to cough out the entire 2k pounds. That's why they are all crying. |
