basty:Don't be silly. The Adelekes have no politcal power in Osun or any other state. |
jeff1993:I am more worried whether you can read and understand written words. What kind of person calls for suicide inducing punishment against another for expressing an opposing view? Even murderers in many countries get better treatment than that. |
festacman:He is a selective speaker with zero principles. He is a well-known Atiku boy who worked hard to make his principal the president but he end up failing. A principled person would not abandon his mission because of a DSS invitation. |
jeff1993:In which civilized society do people get taught suicide lessons for airing their opinion? And you are supposed to be a youth who hate oppression and harassment? SMH |
hmm |
ideatoprince18:Learn to read. He was kidnapped and brutalised. |
kentrowiz:Don't get ahead of yourself. There are no charges yet against any suspect. One of the most important evidence, an autopsy is not even available yet. If the prosecution unwisely move ahead with a murder charge without solid evidence, they would learn very quickly that court favors facts over emotions. |
Can't remember why I quoted you in the first place, but I guess it's because you mentioned Afghanistan as a slap on Islam. Except for Afghanistan and the Taliban that are just starting,
Starting to do what exactly? The best Muslim countries are those that are practising sharia and monarchy while the worst of them are those that are practising democracy.Best in terms of what? Monarchy is unislamic as the monarchs are above Sharia. I am not surprised you didn't know this because many of you don't even understand the concept of Sharia. What is even more funnier is that Sharia which is supposed to be divine law differs across various countries. What is acceptable in Dubai may land you in jail in Saudi if you think all Sharia is the same. There are even gay clubs and thriving prostitution rings in your beloved Dubai and Qatar. So much for their Sharia! And without oil and their low fertility rates, these your Sharia states will be filled with desert beggars. Even with the oil, those states are mere puppets and are unable to defend themselves against real world threats. |
Ayilara1:Those are absolute monarchies run by vicious kings and their loyalists. Left to Islamists like this ex-commissioner, those rulers are infidels that should be deposed. |
Yeah, just like the Taliban. They are the epitome of excellent leadership. |
adeomoakin1:You will also claim to be educated. SMH |
DEEBOZZ:You just copied the definition from Google. What do you mean by global scale? |
DEEBOZZ:What is the meaning of super power? |
DEEBOZZ:The US can influence a bunch of country to also boycott officially. It's is high time US realize that China is the new Super Power. There is no super power. |
Big mistake. The US might have just destroyed Olympic games which was designed to be non-political. |
dasparrow:There is no law forcing the women into political positions. Those women got there by competing like everybody else. |
This is backwardness packaged as progress. Not even the most woke country has such a law because it is illogical, impractical and unconstitutional. Are they just going to carve out a territory in each state and tell the inhabitants that they can only be represented by women? How do you justify denying half of the populace from representing a particular set of people? This is even worse than quota system because no group is explicitly banned under the quota system. We either run a democracy or we don't. |
flyca:We are talking about law here and not sentiments. Holding a family member responsible for a crime they did not participate in is illegal. Yes, police do detain family members to get their target but they are acting illegally. |
HelloWriter:Did you bother to read why the parents were arrested? It has nothing to do with where the gunman came from. They are being held for buying a gun for the kid as a gift! American or Nigerian law does not hold a parent or family member responsible for their wards crime unless they participated or provided support for the crime. |
oliverwrites:Are you speaking for the police? |
anewchapter:The boy is already in custody. They weren't arrested to get to him but because they own the gun and allowed him free access to it. They would likely be charged with a much lesser crime. |
ekineme:They are not an accomplice at least not according to the letter of the law. An accomplice must have full knowledge of the intended crime and even aid it. Nothing so far suggest the school planned the bullying or provide any support to the accused. |
NoToPile:I am not. Facts may seem like defence but it is just fact.
Yes, absolutely nothing incriminating the school as of now. If you access to such, please share. or anyone else, the bullying the boy reported, the boy and roommates were bullied to silence, the names he mentioned, the stuff they forced him to drink is not incriminating? Did all these not happen under the watch of this same school? You see in a boarding school, the management don't conduct investigative morning interviews on all students to fish out prospective offenders. No report or visible sign of a problem, no investigations! Dowen college was negligent that's the point, what do you mean they are not mind readers, they said they investigated, investigation is digging deeper to find the truth did they do that no?Investigation in a civil sense is quite limited. If the accused and witnesses claim they didn't see anything, then they didn't. You don't expect the school to torture students to confess do you? Everybody with common sense should know that's more than a football leg injury, if the schools in house doctors is interviewed about his opinion more facts will emerge.Did you see the injuries when it was first reported? Nope. I and others didn't see it too. The case could go either way based on an interview. if the so called caregivers can't know their students are being bullied they are not fit. Many parents also don't know their kids are being bullied. Does that make them a failure? Here is a recent case of such parent: https://dailypost.ng/2021/03/18/14-year-old-schoolgirl-beaten-to-death-by-male-classmates-in-abeokuta/ If bullying was reported to the management and they fail to act on it, then that is criminal. It would be wrong to assume such is the case until new evidence emerges. The parents should fight it to the last, I pray they have the tenacity of Don Davis mother.Yes, they should fight. However, the medical aspect is very important because it will determine the actual cause of death. Without it, no one can be held responsible in this case! |
wirinet:I actually thought you are one of the few who could logically defend their position. So nice of you to have descended into unfounded wild accusations just like the mob. I trust Lagos State Government to carry out a proper investigation, after which I hope the Police would prosecute all those directly and indirectly involved.Yes, the Lagos state government will carry out an investigation and determine if anyone will be prosecuted. Then I expect the father to sue the college for negligence. This is the only legally valid point you have made so far and you will agree that it falls short of criminal responsibility that the mob demands. Here is a report from the fathers perspective.I read the report and saw the video. You and others seem to think someone, anyone being punished because of the disturbing nature of the injury and death means "justice". I disagree that there is only justice if the right person is punished for the right crime. I see that you completely ignored the link I posted which proves a parent's "incompetence" or "negligence" according to your belief. |
Tobidarker02:Did you made up this quote or there is an actual report out there with this quote? what will make a school call ones parents to come pick up their kids over football injury? They didn't call the parents when he reported the injury. They treated him. They called when it wasn't getting better. Got the difference? Abegii abegii The school knows everything that transpired
Yes, the school can see everything that goes on with the student. They also can read the mind of their student. |
wirinet:They press release is out there and nowhere did the school state the cause of the boys death as it is currently unknown. They stated the injuries he reported to the school's doctor.. You are now blaming the parents of the victim? What you are accusing them of I am yet to understand. And after you have concluded your own investigations, you find nothing incriminating the school, the parents or even the accused kids. You only find suspicion incriminating the parents and even the victim. You seems to be a straw man expert, making up argument as you please. When someone challenges your view, it is not the end of the world. The right approach is limit the discussion to what was actually said. Nothing said so far incriminate the school or anyone else. You expect the parent to start going to press while their child was still in hospital with doctors battling to save his life. I doubt you have children, so you have no idea of the mental state of a parent whose child is dying.Nope, most parents who have issues with school never go to the press. They report erring students and teachers to the school first and if the issue involves violence, they make police report. There are at least 5 persons in the hospital with that kid, it is impossible they are all too busy to make a report. The school is useless. Even If the incident was not so life threatening, a good school should still have shown better competence in handling the welfare of it's students. What is better competence in treating an injury supposedly sustained during a football match? Did you expect them to conduct X-rays, MRI and the rest over a trivial leg injury as reported? FYI, that is not how medicine is done. You work from the simple to complex treatment as a case progresses. The "cheap" school my children go to here in Ikorodu is far more competent than the overrated Dowen College. My 13 year old injured his leg in school while playing football today. The school had alread treated the wound before I got to know about it when I got home in the evening. What kind of better treatment did they give your kid? Did they conduct X-ray, MRI or CT scan to determine if he has internal injuries? Nope. They treated him based on what he reported just like Dowen did. My little daughter is asthmatic. I get a call from the school whenever she gets an attack. And this is a day school. So what did you do after getting a call? Hire an ambulance? You now mean to tell me that from the time the little boy was injured till the time he gave up the ghost, Dowen College was unaware of the injuries and what led to it? Unbelievable. Are you sure you are even following the story? Since Dowen did treated the kid when he reported, I don't see any point here. Dowen is also not a mind reader to have known what led to it. They work with what they were told. They obviously won't go around asking every student whether the boy really played football! Again, not all injuries involve visible cuts, bruises and large blood loss. Some are well hidden even to the patient and only starts to shows worrisome symptoms few days after the event. For a similar story not involving a school, read this one. https://dailypost.ng/2021/03/18/14-year-old-schoolgirl-beaten-to-death-by-male-classmates-in-abeokuta/ Yes, the parents failed to read their daughters mind and she died! I pray you grow a conscience.Lynch mob isn't justice, it is perversion of justice. |
Confidant010:Have you formally met her parent as her suitor? If no, why are you taking over the responsibility of her parent? If her ex boyfriend was that good, she will still be with him or perhaps he ran away due to her excessive demands. I suggest you do too. To other people out there, don't start what you can't finish. |
seborrhic:Truth is we are a very peculiar country in terms of promoting destruction without restraint. The story of a man who was lynched for transforming nonexistent boys into yam is still fresh. For one I don't believe that that boy could be initiated into a cult in a private school of that status. It is possible, but it will be completely voluntary and will likely not involve extreme violence based on the actors age. Also what is the probability that all his room-mates,from obviously we'll to do homes, were called into lying about what happened, according to the mother. This is obviously a lie. Those kind of kids are natural rebels and talkative and can't be coerced into lying en masse. They either saw nothing or it didn't happen. The unfortunate thing about stories like this is that any other narrative that doesn't show murder and cover up by the school would be viewed with suspicion and rejected. You are right. If indeed the school too is innocent, their delay in responding when the first online stories came out, make them look guilty and doesn't help their cause any bit.Even their press release was too cursory for such a case.I think the press release from the school is based on what the boy told them. They might not be too comfortable confronting grieving parents initially. I do not believe that the school is covering up, they are more likely to be innocent even if foul play is later established. For now, an autopsy is needed to clarify issue though it won't change the mind of the mob. |
BABANGBALI:Going by your belief, a parent is a failure if their child don't trust them enough to reveal life threatening experience to them on time. If your child doesn't trust you, who will they trust? |
OssyMalik:Don't believe everything you watch without thinking. That is the way of the zombies! |
tutudesz:This is a possibility but I hope they actually confronted the school about his revelations before his death because without that, no one can be held accountable. |
tutudesz:The next step is to conduct an independent autopsy. If we go by the narrative so far, foul play happened but no evidence yet to correctly assign blame. That boy was alive in the hospital all these while and the parent didn't say anything. Were the parents keeping the information private for reasons best known to them or it just happens that they were able to get information from him just at the point of death? Saying something or making a formal report earlier would have tilted the legal advantage to their side. |
