Techcrunchng: But the forest is not fenced, there are many routes to enter, why must it be the route where soldiers were stationed? I don't believe this. Don't mind them. He deliberately went near the soldiers who arrived before him to have an excuse as to why he didn't go into the forest. |

There are hundreds of kms of open routes through which anyone can enter the forest but somehow, it is where soldiers are stationed that Igboho wants to enter through. |

PrincessGlow: Are you deaf and dumb? All the social media, software, and used products, you don't see them? Social media is not a merchandise, in fact, they beg countries to accept them e.g China. How does those used products improve the economy? I will not let any of this country's citizen use US-made software because Twitter was banned will be the most stupid proposal ever made by an American politician. |

joyandfaith: Many e.g HP, Internet, Microsoft, iPhones etc. Not only US, her allies will also punish us. Ask Abacha. This shows you are not conversant with US sanctions. It is not an on or off switch matter and there are hundreds of sanctions that the average person will not even know exists. And it usually have an endgame. Did you know that Obama sanctioned Nigeria? Well, that didn't stop US products from being shipped here. BTW, there is no ally anywhere that will follow the US lead over some petty issue, if you mean US puppets, those ones are already useless to the Nigerian economy. I know it sound strange that blanket sanction decisions aren't made based on whims or revenge but that is the reality. Nnpc is not functioning now because most expatriates maintaining the refineries left the country after US sanction during abacha regime. Nope. Nigeria was importing fuel long before Abacha came into power. The refineries failed for the reason other government run businesses failed. |

Is it not the same kind of dirty politics that is being reenacted today by Tinubu/Buhari!? Soyinka that used NADECO to run down the image of this country beyond repair just because his kinsman Abiola was not made president? Going as far as calling for western military intervention in Nigeria! I guess if the Americans intervened then on the side of NADECO, they would not have shot at anybody in Nigeria. They will invade Nigeria throwing rose flowers at Abacha, right? One thing I have found out about you Yorubas is that you guys always want to stand on top of others in order to stand taller.. Again, irrespective of your knowledge and exposure, you will always be victims of your tribal agenda in every political discuss in this country! In all these you never linked him with a case of wanton destruction of public and private properties nor even killings and celebration of savage. |

Joromi1: Very soon police will start searching people's phones to know who's using Twitter. This is what happens when Fulanis hijack a democratic government. It is not illegal to use Twitter. That requires specific law not announcement. The government statement is an intent to restrict Twitter's activities or just a preamble for potential regulation. BTW, it is still working. |

AlhajiBitcoin: Citing an office in your country is the first form of FDI.
The staff that would work in the physical office are citizens of your country. As long as that office lasts there, their salaries keep coming in. The company keeps patronizing services in the country, establishing branches, employing more staff strength, transferring technology to citizens.
What is your definition of FDI ? FDI isn't about office or salary. It is about investment. If Twitter were to earmark certain millions for investment in a specific sector that would be an FDI. However, having an office in a country and paying salary is not one. The primary function of a Twitter office or any other social media is to lobby governments for favorable legislations. They may also add some charities or training for good PR. Twitter need governments more than they need it. BTW, social media companies do not need more branches for their operations. One of the reasons they are so attractive to investors is because of their low overhead costs as a few people could run it successfully. |

AlhajiBitcoin: It was foreign direct investment that made Nigeria's economy to boom under Obasanjo.
Basic education has no short cut. You can't print NEPA bill and call it certificate. You are right regarding FDI, but Twitter does not contribute FDI in Nigeria. Even the EU is still confused about how to force foreign social media to share their profits. |
