lenghtinny:
The reason they hide is because of the attitude of the general public towards these kind of incidents, in other words stigmatization...
The world is not perfect and anybody who wishes to make it right will have to pay
the price. There is, unfortunately, a price to pay for change(in this case stigmatization).
I have never come across a story where change was effected without sacrifice.

Imagine you going to the police station to report this offence, what do you think will be the reaction of the average policemen at the counter will be?
The average policeman will probably laugh you off as being unserious, but it
is your determination that can alter their perception.

I remember earlier this year, two girls raped a boy in South Africa and recorded it on video. People were mocking the poor boy while others wished they were in his shoes (even on Nairaland).
Anytime male rape cases happens in Zimbabwe, you see males asking how much is the ticket to Zimbabwe.
When you saw such heartless comments, did you make any attempt to correct the ignorant dolts making it?
What many people who averse to such reactions do is ignore the comments while others vow to
retaliate if such happens to a female in the future. Neither of such approaches work, the effective way to
combat such is outright condemnation.

This is due to the fact the society has painted sex as a big favor from the female folks to the male folks. So technically, A female cannot rape you according to them but when it comes to females, they start screaming consent.
Remember, there is nobody whose name is "society", whatever attitude that is prevalent
in a society must be benefiting most people in such environment, it is up to the few to
point out the absurdities of such acts

Rape is generally viewed as forceful sex by a male against a female victim. So it's kind of awkward seeing a female rapist against a male victim.
Trust me the kind of stigmatization a male victim suffers is way more than that of a female victim.
It doesn't matter what kind of stigmatization a victim will face, I bet the first female
rape reporter faced a substantial stigma(they still do). If it continues to be swept under
the carpet, nothing will change.
Even this guy who refuses to name the aggressor is part of the problem because
when she reads this story and realised she was the one, the message she will get
is that she can continue her harassment and no man will have the courage to name her.

Rights are not given freely, they are forcefully snatched.

something they always want
something they do every possible thing to have?

Truly women get away with a lot of things under the guise of being "the weaker sex"
No, females don't get away with a lot of things,
it is the coward male who refuse to report that gave them such
license.

If no woman ever reported a male rapist, the rapist will get away
with it. Same thing applies to a man who refuses to report a female rapist
but is quick to bring it up to gain sympathy or delegitimize campaign against
sexual violence.

Society can never progress when victims hide under their bed while throwing
occasional stones outside.

You see the hypocrisy of the female folk? That is why I take whatever they say with a pinch of salt..and even when they cry foul, every wise male should..
When does "biacan" = the female folks?

The view of a woman does not give you the right to disparage all women,
neither does he confer you with the license to encourage and support molestation.

I hate this kind of sissies.
You were sexually-harrassed, you kept mute and did nothing about
it so the stupid woman can be called out and sanctioned.

Even when you decided to share your story, you couldn't name the offender
but you kept harping on about double standards.

Are your audience supposed to be able to read your mind?

Shut the hell up. How many etsako slaves are in the new world?
What is the correlation between etsako and igbo also known as eboes in ancient West africa?
And who is the greatest etsako man in the past 100 years ,that the greatest slave from Africa would come from there?
We hear of the Igbo landing in Virgina where thousands of Igbo slaves resisted slave masters to the death. Give me an example of an etsako landing.?
I know you are a Yoruba trying to be mischievous. Go and resolve your historical servitude to bini kingdom before coming to tell us who is Igbo and who is not.

Nigerians, being a very ignorant bunch never cross-check any news they
read, especially if it fits within their parochial worldview.

Olaudah and his sister were kidnapped from etsako area of Benin
in present-day Edo state and were sold to slave merchants.
Olaudah eventually got to the USA as a slave.

He left the USA after being freed and settled in Britain as a freedman, he
was not a British slave.

I hope the biographer tells us how Dangote became the refuse dump of most looted monies in Nigeria. I hope they also tell us how he shortchanges the government in tax payment and all.
How is this peculiar to Nigerians?
No sane person will pay a writer to paint him/her in a bad light.

Abusive men know this and use it as an object of blackmail.

pray educate me on why it is not slanderous if false? Are perjury and slander mutually exclusive?

sueing for slander doesnt change public opinion. You will know how it feeld when somebody falsely rubishes your image.

honestly, I kinda beleive he must have beaten her for her to be ready to walk out but if she lied then it is ok for him to try and clear his name.
Saying his wife is a potential killer even iftrue is not an attempt
to clear his name but a means to drag her name into the mud. Counter-accusation
is not a proof of innocence.

Thinking about this interview, his intent is clear, which is "if I make
her look evil, people will think I am the victim".

From what I read somewhere, the wife actually moved to a lower
class residence compared to Emeka's abode, what sane woman will
do this to her "loving" husband?

Emeka was in the court when she testified to his abusive behaviours,
he had a chance to prove otherwise but the court believed the wife
because he had nothing sensible to say other than disparaging her character
in return.

If sueing for slander doesn't change public opinion will granting interviews
that makes him look like a bitter fool change it?
