topcatking: Pelosi has come, she will go. Believe me when I tell you that, one morning, the Taiwanese will wake up to see that , not only have they been invaded, but blockaded also. The sad truth is , in a situation like that, the West cannot and will not do anything.
If you think the US will attack China and risk a missile strike on the US mainland, you better think again.
Worst case scenario will be the same tack they took with russia: impose sanctions and try to isolate china (which in the global community, is impossible).
Watch and see. You know nothing about current global geopolitics. China is not Russia! |

Politics › Re: Kadaria Ahmed Condemns BBC Documentary About Banditry by ivolt: 8:56pm On Jul 29, 2022 |
Nonsense. There is nothing unethical about the report. Nobody who is not already a bandit or their supporter will watch the interview and then decide to go join them. The interview did not glorify banditry, in fact, bandits were portrayed as bloodthirsty barbarians who justifies their atrocities with illogical entitlement mentality. BBC have interviewed terrorists such as Alqaeda and Taliban leaders over the years. The bandits are not special. The question Nigerians should be asking is why the government which definitely knows where the terrorists are camping have refused to engage them? If Buhari has acted years ago, BBC will have nothing to report. Kadaria Ahmed is angry that the BBC outed the bandits. She has always been against exposing the identities of the marauding bandit because she is supposedly against "ethnic profiling". Kadaria is in the habit of defending her beloved Fulani bandits and would prefer the north burn than anyone point out the elephant in the room. Here is one of her previous defense. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/opinion/442839-nigerian-media-lets-stop-ethnic-profiling-by-kadaria-ahmed.html |

Politics › Re: South West Is Averagely 65% Muslim: Tinubu Campaign Organisation DG, Shittu by ivolt: 6:51pm On Jul 26, 2022 |
AlphaTaikun: I read a Colonial document published in a history book back in the early 1990s and Yorubas who are Muslims were in the majority in the 1950s census. Population projections are permitted all over the world within every "10 year census cycle," so we can infer that Yoruba Muslims are still in the majority from the 1950s census. It is better you didn't even reply. You read an unknown colonial document published in an unnamed history book. Just because a book has "history" in its name doesn't make it divine. In fact, there are so many fictions in history books than any other discipline. I once interacted with some boys who were enforcing Oro(you will understand if you are Yoruba) and preventing early morning worshippers from going to mosque. About half of them had muslim names and I am sure if I dug deeper, more would have at least have a "muslim" surname. A naive observer would have concluded that muslims dominate everywhere but a smarter one will realise that sometimes a name is just a name. It is impossible for Islam to have dominated for centuries and still had no legacies or monuments throughout Yoruba land. This will my last response here on this thread. I have a deep disdain for the kind of bigotry and disdain for facts and statistics I see here. It is good you are running away. This is not a place where you spout unsubstantiated claims and expect to be applauded. Stop trying to rewrite Yoruba history, traditionalists had always been the majority until the beginning of the 21st century. |

Whether you add religion or not, some people will complain and call it fake data. There are many issues such as states, region, South vs North that can cause doubt in the collected data. |
Politics › Re: South West Is Averagely 65% Muslim: Tinubu Campaign Organisation DG, Shittu by ivolt: 2:26pm On Jul 26, 2022 |
AlphaTaikun: @CommonSense1967,
You're absolutely correct!
Islam has been in Yorubaland since over 500 years ago and it came via Mali Empire to the Oyo Empire through long-distance trading. Iwo in Osun State was the initial epicentre of Islam 500 years ago... Long before Uthman Dan Fodio's Fulah great-grand parents were born. The Kanuris too have practiced Islam for over 1000 years via their contact with the trading routes of the Sahara to North Africa.
A 1950s census result containing religious beliefs of the folks that I read back in the 1990s had Muslims of Yoruba descent being in the majority followed by adherants of the Yoruba religion [Ifa]. In the 1890s census, Eko [Lagos Island] had more adherants of the Yoruba Religion [Ifa] than Muslims who came second, while the Christian groups among the Yorubas and some foreigners were very small. The different religions that are collectively part of Christianity are much more recent in history in Yorubaland. One thing that perhaps also helped Islam to grow in many places was the acceptance of polygamy which the other foreign religions fro Europe were against[/b][/i] Where is the source for your data? It doesn't matter if Islam has been here for 10000 years, the issue here is current population not age of arrival. I'm not a Muslim so there is NO bias here. Just someone who agrees with historical FACTS... NOT infantile propaganda!
Cheers! It doesn't actually matter what religion you are. You can be as biased as anybody else. Do you even know what it means to be a Muslim? |

Pls let's pray for better governance! Enough of threatening! You don't understand the basic fact that a society decides how it is governed. Isn't it odd to you that all the examples you used are from SW? Even at that only one example is relevant; that is Osun state where there is near population parity of religion adherents. As to Awo's case, 1979 is a very different time, ethnicity rule supreme then and he didn't win. Never ever project a state issue to a national discourse. |

Foreign Affairs › Re: President Putin Admits Western Sanctions Are Causing Russia 'colossal' Problems by ivolt: 2:39pm On Jul 19, 2022 |
bjdon: Not True, in fact history shows that when many countries are forced to look inwards, they actually do ok. For example South African in the 80's was under international sanctions yet was able to dvelop it's own Nuclear weapons program. Iran has been under sanctions for decades let is developing drones and warships. Cuba was under US sanctions for decades, yet has one of the best health systems in the world The fact that you used SA as an example shows how ignorant you are of international affairs. SA did not develop nuclear weapons, Israelis were mostly behind it. Moreover, if isolation is good, the apartheid which boast of highly skilled professionals will still be in charge of SA today. In fact, a lot of struggle against apartheid involved pressuring the west to isolate them. Every smart person knew that the apartheid was on its last leg when the west unanimously cut them off. Cuba's regular propaganda is that America is not allowing it to develop due to isolation. Another anti-globalization country is Zimbabwe, it has been ejected from the "world order" for decades and ended up not being able to feed itself. |
