They want to know the mother of his kids; they want to know the woman who cooks for him and it’s very easy to do that, because almost everyone is on social media.
So, you see why you need to know what your husband does for a living because, if you don’t know, you will also be dragged into his mess. You shouldn’t just accept it when he says he is a businessman; probe him further on what kind of business he does. If he says he’s a trader at Alaba Market, that’s not good enough, go and see his shop. If he tells you he is into export and import, go and find out about his warehouse. What is he importing and exporting? When his is his next shipment coming into Nigeria? If he tells you he is sealing up a deal, find out what kind of deal it is and satisfy your conscience that he is not a drug baron.
If he tells you he is doing clearing and forwarding, what’s he clearing? Hope it’s not human parts? Did he tell you he’s a contractor? Find out the kind of contracts he is into. Pay him a surprise visit once in a while at his office and go with a cooler of Isala soup and fufu. Look around and see how genuine this business is, don’t be complacent.
If he gets into trouble today, you should know your life will never remain the same again and for life, your children will bear the shame and stigma.
Forget the fact that he is posh and clean. Hard core criminals no longer look dirty and smelly. Some of them don’t even talk tough like we were made to believe and not all of them have bloodshot eyes. These days, there are men who look like gentlemen that are into crime.

Here are the 3 reasons or places Our Nigerian Fathers Have Failed Us

1. Life After Education

How many of you grew up believing Education was the key to getting the best out this world and when I say best I don't mean in the sense of knowledge but in the sense of employment and a happy life. Our parents encouraged us to be our best at school so that we could hit the best jobs, but unfortunately some first class graduates have to hold placards and beg for jobs on the street.

Our Nigerian fathers failed to educate us about life after school. About what waits for us immediately we get out of the educational system. We had to face the harsh realities ourselves and learn that life is not what we were brainwashed to believe.

2. Sex

If you father sat you down and taught you sex education, please raise up your hand!!. Well, many Nigerian Fathers never mention it not to talk about teaching it.

Most of us found out about sex through peers, by ourselves or through the media and we were built on different beliefs which we hold firm today. Presently, everything in the country is becoming sexual oriented, the people, the media, the clothing, the language etc.

3. Marital Counsel

Sorry about the grammar, I meant marriage advice. Nigerian fathers don't follow the scripture in Proverbs 22:6 but wait till his children starts dating or hunting for a wife before giving their advice, before telling their son what is right and what is wrong. How to take care of a woman and what else is required..

Meanwhile, the son has already grown up with different beliefs about marriage, an idea of the woman he could like to spend his life with and he has designed his own way to do things maritally which might have been influenced by his beliefs, peer pressure, society, women or even FitnessDoctor himself.

In these 3 places Nigerian fathers have not done enough. But we still love them because they strive to give us the best. I hope this article will make all hoping to be, soon to be and already made Fathers give more to their children that will make them live a better life..

Micheal Adegbehin pictured above, who is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH and also a disc jockey, died mysteriously after spending his birthday night with his girlfriend simply identified as Blessing last Thursday June 8th.


According to reports, Micheal turned 27 on Thursday and after celebrating with his friends, decided to go home with his lover to his elder brother's house at Agbe Road, Abule Egba area of Lagos state.


The deceased sent a text message to his brother to inform him that he would be spending the night with Blessing inside his one room apartment. His brother out of courtesy, decided tosleep somewhere else so as to allow the lovers have some privacy.


Tragedy however struck when he returned in the morning of Friday June 9th to discover the lifeless body of Micheal inside his house. The said lover, Blessing was no where to be found and was incommunicado for a while.The elder brother rushed Micheal to a hospital nearby where he was certified dead. His remains have been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja.Blessing has since reported herself to the police station and a detailed investigation into the matter is ongoing.
