BokoHaram that started in 2009 is what is a culture for people that have existed beyond the 14th century.

Boko Haram started as a religious belief in a certain state in the North. Terrorism in the North has a religious side to it.
In my post, I started barbaric acts and yes it is rife in the North.

Ritual killing doesn't necessarily need to be approved for it to exist. We all know it exist, we also know that it's deeply believed in.

That it didn't happen to your mother, doesn't mean it doesn't happen elsewhere. That it didn't happen in your tribe doesn't mean it doesn't happen elsewhere.
Nigeria doesn't start nor stop in your community.
Also, in places where this practices have been stopped it was mostly foreign influence that fought for the change using NGOs, foreign funding etc.

Also, do you have rebuttals for the others ? Child marriage, FGM, Almajiri system, witchcraft, female disinheritance?
Or because it doesn't happen in your village, it doesn't exist?

Lastly, I still also stated that there was indeed a chance these things could have fizzled out on their own without foreign influence but would have taken centuries.
Boko Haram started in 2009. I guess the Northerners started existing in 2008 probably.

You cannot list any community with those barbaric burial rites, but my community as a sample doesn't qualify. You are funny, sir.

I have already asked the same question on child marriages; If 50,000 marriages happened this year in the North, how many do you think are child marriages? Maybe 49,998.

Your argument reminds me of how we assume and apportion different beliefs and traditions back then in secondary school. If you know any tribe or culture that practice these strongly, show evidence.

Nigeria is bigger than what you think and know in your mind. Ask questions, sir. It would do you a lot of good.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 2:03pm On Sep 09
In the Igbo culture, it is a male figure in the bride's family that gives her out to marriage. It could be anyone, as long as he's male

Recently, a marriage is trending on SM showing a woman giving her daughter out to marriage. Reactions here and there, yet the marriage stood.

Nobody was arrested. Nobody was killed. The couple fit dey nack for Bahamas as I type.

These things will eventually fizzle out.

But to win an argument, we would rather believe that killing of twins would still exist in 2026, or Terrorism is a cultural belief amongst Northerners

North
- Child marriage
- Almajiri system
- Terrorism (saying no to western education)
- Female circumcision
- Religious intolerance

South:
- Withcraft
- Ritual killings and belief
- Ridiculous burial and mourning rites

East:
- Osu caste system
- Female disinheritance
- Ridiculous burial and mourning rites

West:
- FGM
-Ritual killings and belief.
Etc

There are some I didn't include because I don't know how to place them.
Things like being flogged or killed because you saw a masquerade.
Blood oath taking to prevent adultery etc.
I already knew you would list any listable available

So terrorism is a cultural belief amongst Northerners?

Which ritual killings is approved in any tribe today?

My father is late. He was buried. My mother's head was never shaved. She did not drink any water from the corpse. But I trust Nollywood to give us a better picture of culture than the real ones.

I am surprised Banditry and Yahoo wasn't listed. grin

Child marriage -- you may say it is religious - North
Labeling a child a witch - South (Akwa Ibom)
Osu outcast system-- people whose grandparents were outcast are still being referred as such. East
Ababorku - West.

They may not be barbaric though.
What's the percentage of these things happening today?

If there are 50,000 marriages in the North in 2026, how many can you allocate to child marriages?

These things will fade over time. We know that. You know that.

Even the good morals we grew up with, has started to fade. But we want to convince ourselves that barbaric practices won't leave us at any point?

The issue is Davido and his fans like Emaprince are making up imaginary arguments and fighting haters.

It was Davido himself that told everyone that cares to listen that he is Omo baba Olowo. He sings about his father being wealthy,so I wonder why he gets offended when people attribute his commercial success partly to his father's wealth.

Davido actually needs to do some growing up whether he likes it or not. There's a limit to how long he can keep playing the victim card..... Like someone pointed up there, no be only him be Naija artist wey him papa get money. Naeto C's mum was a minister at some point in this country and he wasn't moaning about imaginary haters all the time.

I think he just wants to prove that he made it without anything. He wants to be classified in that category, which isn't true.

I don't know what's wrong with Erigga's tweet. People made it out of absolutely nothing. From music, sports, business, etc. there are grass to grace stories. Make dem no celebrate themselves because Davido no like am?

Ofcourse money helped get Naeto c etc. But at the end of the day, that song wasnt even a top song by the time he started churning out other good songs. Omo baba olowo had no feature, and it was loved beyond Nigeria. Thats to show you that there is an extent money can take you after which your talent have to seal the actual deal - and that is giving you all the tool needed to push yourself. But if the work no good, you cant force fans to love it. This is the only advantage he had over street hustlers.

If it is all about money like you are making it, why arent all the talented guys, who have made it to mainstream toppling him out the big 3? Why is he still gaining global dominance over all of them? Definitely not money.

Wizkid made it at 20 annd made real waves. Wande coal was shinning with mohits at 20 -21...Rema sef was very young...and ayra star went global at that age too.

As long as you have the talent and you are making good music under a record label, they will give you that same push davidos money gave him. Thats what it is. If wizkid them had the money, they wont sign with any label..they would pushed themselves too.
Again, you are making it sound like I said he's not talented

Nobody is talking about today. Davido stayed up because he's talented. I agree.

But what made you and me know him is largely influenced by the money spent on him. It's as simple as that, and nobody should be apologetic about it.

Ochacho Pikin dey sing and the kid is not bad. But do you think you'll know about him without the PR done on him so far?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 8:02pm On Sep 03
Emaprince:
Was it his fathers money that made the songs sound good? If they were same as speed darligntons, will the money make it trend? Was he paying fans to love his music?

His fathers wealth only made it easy for him to have studio money and music video money. His fathers wealth didnt make the songs pleasing to fans.

Only that separate him from street hustlers then Was that, the later couldnt afford studio money, or the money for promo. Are we going to criticize record label for promoting songs of their artistes? Why do we have that energy for Davido? He signed himself cos he had the money. He promoted himself and his songs went global. Leave wealth alone.

And if he had no money, record label might pick him up. With the kind of enthusiasm the lad had in his craft, he was def gonna shine.

You are asking me which label will sign him..most of the artistes that blew up, had some friends that never believed in them when they were still doing demos up and down. "Even solo tell me say I no go blow"..that was from wizkid.

You are probably thinking that because davido have a gruff voice, he couldnt make it. You forgot that this is afro beat and not RnB where you need to sing like rkelly. Fela kuti get sweet voice? Raski them that were signed to the best label, kennis back then are no where near Davido all round talent, but some how you rhink nobody qould have signed him.
Oga, money is instrumental to blowing in the Music Industry, especially in a time where Social Media wasn't hot yet.

I have not attacked his songs anywhere. I am simply telling you that his father's backing brought him up to speed, and that's the truth.

In his 20s, he was already a Top Nigerian star. How many Nigerians at that age got to his spot without money? List them, and I'll wait.

I grew up in the same close where Plantainshun boiz lived. I saw a lot of musicians as a kid and teenager. If you think it's mostly talent that defines how far you go, na lie. Before the arrival of Social Media, you need to spend to be seen. Which talent e use take engage Naeto C wey we never see for Nigeria before? His first single had a music video. Only money can do that

I don't know why you want to make it look like it's a bad thing. His papa money boost him speed to success

How do you separate his father's wealth from his success?

If Cuppy had blown, will you say it was mostly her talent? I don't know why this talk irritates them.

Let Davido find a 10 talented artistes, and let them blow without little financial support and less social media efforts. Let's see how fast they all get noticed

The only thing money did for him was, maybe having studio money, and music video money. Nothing else.

If he was signed to any label at the time, they can easily get him a big name as feature. Mind you, back then big names dont sell songs. If the song no sweet, no body is buying it. Altro beat wasnt big then..and Naija wasnt as US where featuring a big name can sell you songs, due to the new artiste tappino into the big names fan base. Which artiste get fan base in Nigeria back then?

His quick entro into music can be attributed to their wealth..because it aided him quickly recore songs and shoot the video. But his success has NOTHING to do with his dads wealth. 90% percent of the people back then didnt wven know his dad was rich when he was already making waves. I didnt know too.

His music topped charts because they were good and pleased the ears of listeners. He is now making global dominance not by wealth, but by hardwork. His record sold because of the good songs. They are streamed not because he is reach.

If na so wealth dey help musicians blow, B red for don blow like davido too. Cuppy tried music too..but wasnt as successful.

I give that boy every credit cos he deserves it. His voice is gruff, but he believed in himself. He made a lot of good musics. Make una leave this rich papa narrative.
His father's wealth has A LOT to do with his success, Oga angry

If he was signed to any label at any time..... Abeg where the label for find am? Where?

When Davido blew, Social Media was not a big channel for artists. So how exactly would a record label have found him? Do you know how many youths were languishing on the streets with no hope?

I don't know why you want to separate him from his father's wealth. Cuppy and BRed failed in music, and money didn't save them. But Davido blew without the help of money.

His Father's money did a whole lot to make him blow, and it's not a sin. It's not a bad thing

I will make excuses for Davido here.

The lad have been shaded for coming from a rich pop always. People even try to discredit his hard work and attribute his musical success and rise to fame to his affluent background. It is frustrating to work this hard and earn maintsream success, but some haters wouldnt give him that credit, but rather make it seem like he wouldnt blow without money.

There is only one person that will take Eriggas post wrongly - It is the same person that have been hounded with this narrative of "you made it in music because your dad is rich".

It is also very possible that was a shade to Davido.
Yes, he is hardworking, but it is largely attributed to his affluent background. Let's not shy away from that.

Our first glimpse of David's talent was him featuring the big names in Nigeria as at then.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with making it through your parents help. But he should stop thinking everything is a shade.

Well, I don't know much about their policies as it concerns drivers.... I can only speak about their policies as it concerns passengers and I can say InDrive policies favor passengers the most, maybe followed by Bolt sha.

Going by ur explanation, I guess Uber's business model is not designed to thrive in a 3rd world low income earning economy/society like Nigeria. Bolt and InDrive will most likely take over the customers being left behind by Uber.

Well, this has not been my experience.

I've always gotten good/reasonable price negotiated strictly via the app which is far better than the fixed fare bolt offers on their app for the same trip. For all the times I've used InDrive, the drivers have not refused the pricing and resort to offline trips.

It's on bolt and Uber sef the whole offline trip thingy is a common feature. Let me give an example.

Let's say u want to move from VI to Ilupeju on the mainland and you check bolt and the cheapest base rate is 18k. If u check same trip on InDrive, you will see the cheapest base rate as 13k. Most drivers would not accept the trip at 13k on InDrive so u will have to increase Ur offer. By the time u increase Ur offering to 15k on InDrive app, u will see a driver that will accept to embark on the trip officially without asking to go offline.

Whereas, the bolt fixed base rate remains 18k for the same trip (and may go higher depending on traffic situation on the road).

PS: This is my own personal experience o ; I know experinces may differ from one person to another Sha
That 18k trip you saw on Bolt, would be like 22k on Uber.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but Uber has the least occurrence amongst all.

Uber is the most expensive. If drivers are going offline to charge you more for 18k, is it the person that put 13k they will agree?

Uber had its special customers. No be everybody dey use Uber because e cost. If you cancel a trip as a rider unnecessarily, Uber will bill you. Uber will refund a driver immediately if the passenger didn't pay without stories. These are offers that Bolt and InDrive would struggle to do.

Uber just cannot come down to the Agbero level of Bolt and InDrive, and I am guessing that's why they left, because their customers were declining by the day.

Uber and Bolt no dey the same WhatsApp group oh
