The issue is that the government cannot afford to subsidise fuel anymore.
The corruption around subsidy including the fuel price arbritrage shenanigans was a small price to pay when maintaining fuel subsidy was a priority to the government.

The real thing to be concerned about is that the government is so broke, its actually taking drastic steps to combat inefficiencies.

Omo. At this rate, if you can raise money to enter anywhere in Europe from Albania to Zurich, my brothers in Christ, it is time to move. This is only the first wave.
It's definitely time to run.

you know as well as i do that border controls will continue to fail
those directives by ppmc officials [no jerrycans in stations, no peddling by stations) also failed
any form of petrol subsidy is going to fail because multiple nigerians will turn it into a hustle

it is the same way we cannot fix oil theft

police, customs, frsc, army - they will simply collect their cut and send the smugglers on their way.

50% of the current problem is because it is more profitable to move fuel to the border rather than sell here. if i buy fuel from mobil at 620 and sell it in togo at 1300, it is good business for me. that is what diversion is.

as a 101% hustler, you know that all border controls are as effective as police checkpoints.
You are looking at it from one side.

As the naira continues to fall, it will always be profitable to sell in Togo. Even at 855, it is profitable.

So a poor man in Sokoto should buy fuel at 1500 per litre, because we don't want smugglers to carry fuel?

Is this really the best solution

if they dont reach the actual price, the smuggling will continue.

it is what it is, and it is 101% fked up

all this talk about banning jerrycans, stopping people with jerrycans in their cars, is about curbing smuggling.

quite literally they are doing diversion in stations.

black marketers come with 5 to 10 50 litre jerrycans even when there is no scarcity
So instead of tightening your borders, you'll prefer to suffocate your people to death.

Master class move, i must confess.

Are you also aware that it is the exchange rate that encourages the smuggling too?

So if you increase it to 1,000 naira, it is still profitable to buy in Nigeria and sell in Togo

Summary of everything u've written here is Emotions, Emotions and Emotions.

No two loans/deals are one and same. The fact that u are I are jumping into conclusions based on Sterling's situation is enough to show I are discussing a topic u don't have a full details about.

The real question is " who runs a club like Napoli owners do?" You give ur star player an improves contract in December 2023 and by August 2024 u want to bundle him out at all cost? Why? Because u feel u need to sell him to buy more players even if he's not interested in his suitors. Smh

It's funny how it's Nigerians that should.having his back that are his own antagonists
Osimhen said he does not want to play for Napoli.

It is even in the screenshot you posted.

He expressed his desire to leave, so why are you shocked with how they are treating him?

My issue with him is that he saw this coming, and kept on acting like he had many options.

If na you, you go take such slavery paycut?
It was 150k and a loan deal.

Why can't Napoli pay the rest?

Sterling wey go Arsenal, Chelsea is still paying part.

Maybe his agent should have insisted on no loan, and watch Sterling collect 350 and rot on the bench.

In my opinion he should have taken the Saudi deal with a maximum three years, as much as wacko Jocko dey give us wahala for here, I don't support him reducing his salary to join us on a likely 7 year deal, he's a proven striker though overrated but he's still proven, and we also have don't have the premier league or champions league contending clout that we might say he would take the salary and join us, if he knew he wouldn't accept our offer he should have just gone to Saudi to cash out, in this time of flops even earning high, he can't slack, I just saw he asked Napoli to reduce his release clause to 75m before agreeing to move on loan, I still believe he'll get suitors if he cooks in turkey and ulokpa.
I am hearing the Gala deal is a rumour.

Let him train alone for the next 5 months, and let me see who will sign him in January and pay 285k per week.

I have been convincing myself that Benin juju no dey active, but this case has cleared my doubt.

There were some reports saying Al ahli backed out of the deal because they asked for extra 5m to be added after first agreeing a fee, he hadn't agreed to move yet though, he was probably waiting for us to increase the salary offer while Al ahli 's was the alternative but unfortunately them too wise, I don't know why some of these twitter influencers are acting as if somebody died, most na fake love sha, if he goes to turkey and destroys their league with at least 25 goals he would surely see suitors again by next year.
Do you know how many forwards are in Gala?

I don't even understand what he wants.

Do you want playtime? Go to Chelsea.

That's why I just laugh at people always blaming sellers/market men and women for hike in the prices of goods.

Anybody that has access to import documents, form M's , LC's , etc that are denominated in dollars and also convert to naira will understand that it will be almost impossible for prices of products to come down due to the devaluation of naira.

An item that was imported when dollar was around 700 last year, if u check its price in naira against this year's that dollar is now 1,600; u don't need anybody to explain how crazy things are now.
The fact that there is no stability in rates makes it worse
