We dwelt too much on Police Brurality, days after the VP had promised and started acting on the reforms. It now became a case of the Hunter becoming the Hunted.

That would have also been an avenue to demand accountability from office holders. Everybody resides in a ward, in an LGA, in a constituency,
in a state. Instead of walking aimlessly, we could have taken our protests to the abode of our respective office holders and demand better.

Also, it started to turn to a charade. No direction and bearing. Anybody just jumps out, blocks the road, and starts playing music. We started afflicting ourselves and suffering ourselves.

To me, we would have used that opportunity to demand just more than Police reforms, which was already granted even before the protest got halfway

I didn't say Obi knew of the individual killings that were going on at Azukwu, I said he knew of the River Ezu incident, two different things. Besides, when people are having an issue with a police officer or division, what they do is contact a senior police officer and in this case the most senior police officer in said state would be the commissioner of police. I can't even say with confidence that the commissioner of police knew what was happening at Azukwu SARS before the River Ezu incident, not to mention Peter Obi having knowledge of it.

Of course he knew about the River Ezu incident, it'd be ridiculous to claim he didn't know about the River Ezu incident that made national news and was being investigated by the Nigerian Senate with nothing coming out of it.
This has been my point from the beginning, but you Obisexuals just have a way to dance round a point before accepting.

Obi definitely knew what was going on, but the grouse here was he did nothing. No complains from him, no summons from him. Nothing.

Maybe he didn't have a hand in any killing, but he did nothing to stop Nwafor from this.

No matter how we look at it sha , the ENDSARS protest yielded some results. Nowadays police harassment has reduced to a reasonable extent sha .

I remember last Sunday while driving some police officers stopped me for regular stop and search and after confirming my papers were fine and My drivers license still valid , they just said “ Bros happy Sunday , show ur brothers love” . I just smiled and handed the guy #500 without being under any form of threat. He was appreciative , waved me bye and I moved .

I wondered how that could’ve ended prior to the whole ENDSARS protests. I know police officers still extort people but it has reduced to a bare minimum sha
I feel we wasted that opportunity sha.

No , u don’t get to do that . All u said was “ I don’t know “ all through the night . U didn’t know what exactly was Peter Obi’s role was in the AwkuzuSARS saga .

Now we moved on from that and talked about the events of October 20 2020 which is not one and same with the atrocities of with SARS all over Nigeria prior to the ENDSARS protests . We are talking about the events a day before that day and the D-day itself .

Sanwoolu confirmed by himself that he called soldiers to have called soldiers to “ intervene “ at lekki . Yet u said he can’t be blamed for what happened that night . I pointed it to u areas in the state that had serious issues of insecurity like Orile , Mushin and co which needed Soldiers intervention but didn’t get any .

So I really want to understand where “ I’m using ur logic against u “ is coming from
I can't remember if its your moniker, but it was said that Nwafor is not answerable to Obi, and therefore Obi wouldn't know anything about the killings.

Maybe its true he doesnt know, but the excuse of both of them acting separately does not fly with me. If Obi wanted to do any "dirty job", he can use Nwafor for it (I am just assuming).

I just wanted to point out that any security unit in a state can be used by a governor, and thats why i said the Sanwo-Olu example.

Sanwo-Olu invited the Army. They are not under him. But someone expects me to believe Obi cannot ask Nwafor to do anything?

That's the funniest thing in all of this, cause only last week I remember him asking for and referencing the video of a governor refusing to obey Sanwo-Olu as proof that governors don't control police in the state. E reach Peter Obi now it becomes what was his role in Azukwu SARS and Izzou on one hand dey absolve Sanwo Olu of EndSARS massacre when na im start dey complain say Azukwu SARS no dey trend...the hypocrisy cheesy

Well na election season, so agenda must agend, and it's understandable.
The hypocrisy is actually on you.

You just told me the CSP has no business with a governor. So how is a Brigadier General answerable to the same governor?

Does Obi have the power to authorize Nwafor to do anything? No

But Sanwoolu has the power to authorize a Brigadier General on anything ba?

Sanwoolu didn’t call Soldiers on those who burnt down Orile police station , he didn’t call soldiers on those who were exchanging gun fire with police officers in Mushin; yet it’s Lekki where protesters eat donuts and drink coffee , eat jollof rice and play music all day that he feels need the presence of soldiers?

U say we can’t blame him for anything that happened that day ? He miscalculated thinking show of force would disperse those guys in Lekki but didn’t know he was setting tone for non state actors to take the center stage afterwards. We all saw how it ended tho.
You guys just said the security of a state is not answerable to the governor.

I am using your logic against you.

Nwafor is not answerable to Obi, but the GOC is answerable to Sanwoolu abi?

I think u are mixing things up .

The protest against police brutality happened in most states of the federation. I saw videos of the protest in Osun , Oyo , Rivers etc back then .

In Lagos it happened at Ikeja , Lekki and other parts of the state . Why Lagos state owned turned brutal was the fact that Lagos state government felt it’s had enough by first introducing non state actors into the protest; when that failed the police officers went guns blazing and orile police station was burnt on the eve of the shootings in Lekki , police men were attacked in Mushin and they exchanged gun fire with touts , etc .

Sanwoolu declared a curfew that didn’t even allow people get to their homes before it was enforced that night, the protesters chose to remain at their location knowing fully well they won’t make it home before the curfew starts and the soldiers did their thing .

On another note I still wonder why all the celebrities who were at the venue earlier that day found their way home prior to the curfew and subsequent shootings ; only for the protesters and only Dj Switch on the receiving end . I mean one of those Psquare Guys was there that day earlier , AY the comedian and so on. I believe those guys had info and were just telling people from the comfort of their house to raise flag and sing national anthem. Na why I no dey follow people do Aluta even when I was a student . I no go allow them kill the only don of my family just laidat
We can't blame Sanwo-Olu for anything that happened that day

Theflint1:
I never said dumping bodies in rivers could be justified, my point was that there was no way those killings can be linked to Peter Obi. I know from first-hand experience that police officers do catch and kill, especially for hardened criminals. How many persons that have family members that were involved in kidnapping or robbery will go to the governor to complain that they can't find the body of their family member, some of them will even be happy to be rid of the family member.

CSP Nwafor was a junior police officer, he had the head of his area command to report to, and that area commander reported to the commissioner of police. If I'd fault Peter Obi, it's for not conducting LGA elections early enough...Azukuwu was one division, there's no way CSP Nwafor would have been steady killing indigenes of a particular community and it won't get to an LGA chairman who would make reports to a governor.
A fair opinion i can accept.

Remember that the beginning of this discussion was why Lagos was the focus of Police brutality, when it happened in other states too.

Everybody remembered Lekki. Nobody remembered Ezu river.

I find this position quite reasonable . How do u accuse a governor of being the mastermind of ur travails when u and I know the governor obviously doesn’t control the police . We saw a police officer in Magodo tell Sanwoolu he got his order from above even in Sanwoolu’s state .

I mean I actually need to know the role Peter Obi played in the Awkuzu matter other than being a governor in a state where a rogue police officer played poker with people’s lives
