nihilistjnr:He was in faraway UK cheering and encouraging people to loot palliatives in Calabar, forgetting that his mother's office is there When the palliatives finished, they came for his mother's properties and he's crying |
iamoyindamola:If you heard Desmond's speech, he talked about watching DjSwitch IG live, and how he felt bad about what the Army did. Nobody is defending any politician here. I haven't done that. All I'm saying is we should be careful of what we post online. And why he picked on celebrities and influencers is because they have a larger audience Yemi Alade posted the picture of a corper who died in the massacre, only for the it to be a drama presentation. Imagine the audience she reached with that fake news I'm not saying there are no pressing issues apart from SM. But that's what he commented on. Let's focus on that |
iamoyindamola:We are not talking about the protests. We are talking about those who looted almost all the shops on Bode Thomas and Adeniran Ogunsanya Can you confidently say that if you leave your door open at night, nobody would come to steal? What is bad is bad. What Desmond focused on in his speech, was the looting and hoodlums because his constituency was affected the most. We cannot be trying to fix Nigeria, and some people (whether politically sponsored, or of their freewill) would go about stealing from innocent people, and vandalizing something that's for everybody That's just the point I'm trying to pass |
iamoyindamola:Baba, I am not talking about what the others said, neither did I defend them I'm talking about what Desmond said We all know that everything is wrong with this country. But looting and destruction won't solve anything. Anybody that is killing, destroying and looting does not want a better Nigeria. That's my point, bro |
Now this is an example of when you support destruction and it turns around to hit you on the ribs These hoodlums don't know who's a politician or not. They should not be accommodated in our quest for a better Nigeria
|
iamoyindamola:I am not in anyway defending Desmond entirely. He's still a party man But the roasting he got on SM, especially from celebrities got me wandering. I remember a thread where a guy was supporting the looting of palliatives on Twitter. He kept on laughing until he started shouting that hoodlums were looting his father's estate and he needed help. I support peaceful protests, even till tomorrow. But the moment it starts to deviate into looting, destruction and breakdown of law and order, we should dissociate ourselves from that. Innocent people lost their worth to hoodlums. How can someone call those hoodlums "children, and people are attacking him? And yes, something needs to be done about the circulation of fake news and hate speech being thrown around. |
bandely:The LSHA does not have the power to pass the social media bill. It's the NASS that can do that. So all what Desmond, Obasa and the rest were doing was just talking. They don't have they power to do that And let's be frank, these guys needed to talk about it. Lagos had the most impact. Imagine people torching new buses, destroying properties for both the public and the private.. Do you know how many must have believed that a corper was shot because Yemi Alade posted it on her SM? I didn't listen to what other members said. But for Desmond, I don't see why he was roasted because he called some heartless thieves "children" They are bastarrds |
larride:He was talking about those who looted innocent people's stores. Children has to be a polite way of describing them. They are bastarrds Most entrepreneurs prefer to use their Naira to buy stock or dollars than actually save it in the bank. This is because of the fluctuations in the exchange rate Now, imagine looting an electronic store, phone store, jewelry store, to the ground. How is that person supposed to recover, when his total worth was in that small space? I am just wondering that maybe I missed something in that video |
afrodoc2:Doc Doc That has to be the closest possible explanation |
iamoyindamola:Well, you may be right. But from what I watched, Desmond said the following 1) He called the Hoodlums that looted people's stores children. And to me, they are worse. The damage done by these youths is massive. Do you know what it means to loot a jewelry store, or phone and gadget store to the ground? How is that person supposed to recover from that? 2) He talked about social influencers and the damage the SM is causing. He did not ask for it to be regulated. He said that something should be done about it. We cannot deny the fact that there are cons of the SM. Imagine the fake stories of deaths we saw here. Nobody confirms anything. Once it comes from a popular person, it starts to circulate as the truth 3) He talked about changing Nigeria for the better through the elections. How many influencers are spending time to educate the people on getting their PVCs? How many are trying to make efforts to ensure that the uneducated in the society know the dangers of selling their vote in 2023 Bros, the protest did send a strong message to the government, but it went about the wrong way. There was no plan, and there was no leader. Instead of every musician and influencer passing his own message on SM, they can team up and support a clear cut plan. We cannot be fighting for a better Nigeria, and still be fighting for those that are spoiling it There are no government buses currently working, for fear of being attacked. Roads are blocked because policemen are scared of being attacked. Like I said, maybe I didn't understand him clearly, but I haven't found any reason to see him get roasted |
Please, what is Desmond Elliot being roasted on SM for? I have listened to his 5 min speech during the plenary session. I'm trying to understand why people attacked him |
BlueRayDick:I stopped talking about it too. I just couldn't resist the urge to comment on that The same NA that told us that the videos were fake and photoshopped, is the same NA that is referring us to them to actually see that it was blanks that was fired Anybody who wants to believe the blanks story is welcome, but I just have one question Why then did some casualties have bullet wounds? |
BlueRayDick:I mean, I do not understand how critically we need to think again Firstly, the NA Twitter handle labelled all the videos showing the Army there as fake Then a spokesperson from the NA said all were photoshopped, meaning it's still fake Another then came out and said the governor was aware that they were coming to disperse the protesters And then now, it was blanks they fired If it was truly blanks, why did people have bullet wounds? So, it's evidently clear that the protesters obviously shot themselves... |
Elnino4ladies:I thought so too Until I saw Protesters with bullet wounds: The hospital, governor and other videos confirmed it It's possible the army came with blanks, but the protesters shot themselves with live bullets..That's still a possibility |
Please who knows Ikorodu very well? I'm looking for a particular place Ikorodu Recreational center Gmap says it along Ogolonto road. Please does anyone know if it's open? |

I'll advise us to avoid this issue, for the sake of our mental health Today makes it 6 days since the incident happened. Yet, we are still waiting for the CCTV footage as promised. The government would have saved us all the stress of thinking critically, or themselves of the embarrassment, but no ... Fashola had to fly in yesterday to pick a neatly found camcorder even after scavengers, and LAWMA had cleaned the toll gate for two days ![]() The more I try to think critically, the more the government gives me a reason to think otherwise Let's just relax. CCTV footage would clear all doubts |
![]() Instead, Buhari spent few minutes talking about Npower, Trader moni, Market moni and all those nonsense schemes they put together We all have seen the adverse effects of allowing agberoism, unemployment and poverty to thrive in a community No gainfully employed person would go about looting stores.... All we have is a ticking bomb in our hands |

Where is the NSCDC in all of these? This year, the Amotekun was created. Why can't they be involved? We always like to throw away money in this country |
