All these can occur when you attempt the feat and when the land caves in more, the sedan could also get pulled into the gully. Look for a good 4WD truck with live axle and enough torque to do it, the only sedan I can think of is all those subaru forester

I disagree somewhat - from an Engineering perspective. It's a comfortable rule of thumb but it's the Engine Torque figure that counts, or rather the Torque curve (availability at low RPM is important). Some sedans have more torqued engines than some SUVs so this generalization doesn't hold.

And, the chassis/transmission/suspension of any car - Sedan or SUV - would be (or, ought to be) designed to handle the maximum Torque it can produce from its belly.

No scammer directly asks for the money but instead makes up a detailed story about their need for funds. For instance, most oil-rig imposters use the excuse that they are at sea and need money to handle immediate emergencies.

Alternatively, they may ask you to transfer funds to their family members for medical emergencies.

It can go in many directions when you bring stuff on here and people 'chook mouth', as we've seen recently, even with reputable clients and service providers involved. I value my privacy and sanity lol.

And I should publicly acknowledge the heads up you gave me ahead of a planned major painting project last year where you advised I bought the paint stock because input prices were anticipated to rise.

We managed to do that at current prices long before the planned painting which then took place later in the dry season.

I once did a job here as far back as 2012, the clients were paying 300k per stage to the consultants double-checking my job. Their job wasn’t to criticize the builder but to make thing right and ensure there were no compromises. Everything went smooth because they did the right thing.

After engaging a qualified 'Engineer' to carry out the works, the issue I have with paying for additional professional oversight (in Nigeria) is that the buck always seems to fall somewhere in the middle. It's not a question of 'being cheap', particularly if the benefits and safety nets operate as intended.

Do they have professional indemnity insurance that will compensate you gabadaya when things go wrong? No. They tend to pass the buck to the contractor (or Baba Lati) and engage you in an endless loop of recriminations.

As a tangential example, you engage a QS, who produces fancy costings and pretty spreadsheets - then you end up spending twice the amount (without significant variation in market conditions or work scope), you kinda lose heart.

So, I think professionals need to up their game, share project risks. Not just hope to collect fat fees and move on to the next client.

@OP Re: Item (2). You have to revisit how you framed this. It might reflect less well on you IMO, especially as it is something you have held on to for so long.

When asking for favor off people, resist the urge to super-project into their affairs and somehow come to the conclusion they ought to be prioritizing your own particular need at that point in time.

I'm frequently at the receiving end of this and I can tell you it's a very annoying trait.

Busy is an understatement. More an assault on the senses IMO.

Minimalism as a concept in interior decorations has much to be recommended. Neutral colors, thoughtful living spaces etc.

You get a sense of calmness as well, if your brain is not constantly but subliminally overworked with the ever present visual stimulation.

And, if you really want to go bohemian on a whim, do it with something easily removed/replaced (like a rug or painting). Perhaps not something permanently etched like these examples.

Horses for courses though.

Although that person's experience is very valid, I don't believe this generalization holds having specified Nigerian tiles throughout my builds (soppy patroit me). For one, we might be doing our local industry a disservice.

I'm no expert though but some other opinion might be helpful eg, from someone that installs tiles on an ongoing basis eg ... @Rotecch77

Not necessarily. The height difference between the tank and the highest offtake point is what you should get people to focus on - not arbitrary 38ft, 40ft, 50ft heights. You might want to be cautious during the original tank installation in anticipation of future requirements.

The highest offtake point is usually the bathroom water heater or a shower head and some of the newer ones require 2 to 3 bar input pressure (think 2 to 3m difference in equivalence) to operate satisfactorily.

It's not all lost though, if you retrofit a power shower that requires more input pressure, you can always add an inline booster pump solely to operate that power shower - as I had do do in one of my properties where we misjudged the available head when installing a replacement shower.
