Obviously u haven't seen on social media where patients come to say hospitals detained them for days, weeks or months, for unpaid bills. I'm sure you'll be amongst those saying that the hospitals/docs are heartless for detaining innocent baby and mother, blah blah. In the end, the patient ends up paying less than 1/4 of the bill. In this economy where cost of drugs etc have skyrocketed, u would be doing rubbish with a business. Obviously u haven't heard where patients abscond after getting free treatments. I have seen so many that I don't care to count again. So who do you blame in those 2 scenarios? In the end the hospital ends up losing. A hospital is a business. It may sound callous but it is what it is. Bills have to be paid. Most of these patients that beg and beg to pay later almost never pays, and it's worse now that the economy has worsened. In the end the hospital packs up. Those 'sane' hospitals don't just admit any patient and wait till they pay. They must pay a certain percentage and during admission the patient gets daily Bill update. Once he delays in payment, treatment stops and he may be referred to government hospitals. So check again about those your 'sane hospital', you hear |

Bankowner: You just sit there and type what you don't know.
The Hippocratic Oath is a foundational text in medical ethics, outlining the obligations and conduct expected of physicians, emphasizing the importance of patient well-being, "first, do no harm," and maintaining ethical standards. Here's a more detailed look: Key Principles and Promises: Patient Welfare: The oath emphasizes the physician's duty to prioritize the patient's health and well-being above all else. "First, Do No Harm": This is a core principle, urging physicians to avoid actions that could cause harm or worsen a patient's condition. Confidentiality: Physicians are expected to maintain the privacy of their patients' information. Honesty and Integrity: The oath stresses the importance of honesty and integrity in all aspects of medical practice. Respect for Life: The oath acknowledges the sanctity of human life and encourages respect for all individuals, regardless of their circumstances. The man and his wife fall under the key principle of respect for life. That hospital failed to value human life and chose money over it. Yen yen yen Ogbeni from this gibberish, u r not even a doctor. Below is the Physician Oath I swore and it hasn't changed. Please show me where it states I should treat a patient for free I swear to fulfil, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant: I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow. I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism. I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug. I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery. I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God. I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick. I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure. I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm. If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help. You people on social media are so stupidlyyy ignorant, it makes me cry. Carry your ignoramus ass comot my face |

EmptyGarden: A while ago, a friend of mine had a tough experience. His wife had given birth, but by the eighth day—the day of the naming ceremony—they were still in the hospital because they couldn’t settle the bills. The hospital, not trusting that he would return to pay, refused to discharge them and held them back. Thankfully, we managed to raise the money, and they were released.
As difficult as that was, I still think it’s a far better situation than when a hospital refuses to admit a patient in critical condition simply because they don’t trust the family to come back and pay. Turning them away in such a moment, forcing them to seek help elsewhere, can be the difference between life and death—and in this case, it was a death sentence. I get you completely. Your friend is sensible. Many Nigerians in that situation run to social media telling people that the hospital has held them hostage, or some of them even abscond. I'm sure you have seen many stories like that on social media. And who do the populace blame? The hospital of course! Calling them all sorts of names for being heartless etc etc. Some would eventually pay less than one quarter after spending a month or so. Now how do you think would be the fate of this hospital? Remember they have salaries, bills, drugs etc to pay. I need your response to this question |

OgunjimiFengxi: It's called an emergency for a reason - you can never be fully prepared for it. Just pray to God you don't encounter one beyond your power and financial capacity.
A friend of mine was in a similar situation months back. He cried to me for help after spending over a million in less than 48hours. Luckily for him and his wife, treatment was not stopped while he was out sourcing funds to cover the outstanding bill.
Your comments and most others on this thread are quite disheartening. Compassion matters even to animals, particularly in matters of life or death as this. Where is our humanity? What has happened to us?? We've become so numb that the sanctity of human life means absolutely nothing us anymore. Unfortunately compassion doesn't pay bills. If I come to your restaurant to eat free, at a point, you'll tell me to fvck off. Does that mean u are not compassionate? |

If your soul is dead to the point you have no mercy for a pregnant woman then too bad for you and a calamity for anyone that call you a life partner/spouse. What do you mean stabilize? Could you imagine this nonsense woman was telling me to make transfer first before they start anything. I was mad. At that point I was trying to sell some funds from my PayPal which delayed but I ended up selling and transferring to the useless doctor. Before they started attending to my wife. Cousin9999: A hospital isn't a business. It's a basic necessity.
No one should have to pay for that.
The amount of money one crooked politician swipes in a day could pay for medical care for probably millions of people. The amount of money lost when one foreign company doesn't pay a fair price for one shipment of natural resources could probably do the same.
Let's place blame where it belongs. Sorry. A hospital is a BUSINESS. They pay salaries, foot electricity, drug bills, theater costs etc. Where do u think the money for those would come from? Heaven? |

oscar52: Emergency can happen anytime even with best preparation. Maybe she became unconscious at home and he rushed her to the closest clinic. I pray you are never in these situation to see the horror of healthcare in Nigeria. I lost tree sisters to sickle cell and one died because of negligence and asking family members to be doing the work the clinics should be doing even when you have money to pay. The system needs reform. I even support banning for profit primary healthcare facilities. That way the heartless and greedy ones will leave the professional. Medicines is a noble profession, not for rif rafs and chalatans. If the clinic had treated her and did a go fund me, they will recoup 100X what she owned. That $350, even me as a stranger would have paid it on her behalf. Not everyone places money over human life thankfully. The way you people talk…. So government should ban all the profit oriented clinics? So medicine would be strictly charity? Which country have you seen that happen? How do you think the salaries of the healthcare workers would be paid? Do you think the government can pay the salaries? Are you even aware the government is tired of footing the bill of government hospitals and are monetizing some services? You are cozy in your profession or business, making money, but want another profession to be strictly charitable, servicing your greed. You people dont wanna demand robust healthcare from your government but want all the docs and hospitals to run at losses for you guys. Some of you are something else, I swear. |

The SOUL is similar to the SOFTWARE that runs the body of an orgasm where the Brain serves more or less as the CPU and HDD.
Just like for the Software in a System, There is no known physical means of determination it's existence.
All Atheist argument focus on the Hardware (Brain and Chemicals) but forget that a software (SOUL) runs under the hood.
Why do you think that even though we learn as we grow, Babies seems to come with some limited pre-programmed behaviours that aren't a product of learning by experience. 1. Then how do you know in fact we have souls when u cannot determine its existence by any means? 2. Babies have limited knowledge cos their brains are immature and small. As they keep on growing in age, they acquire more knowledge and experience and their brain size grows rapidly. As they reach a particular age, maybe 3 to 5 years, the rapid growth in brain size reduces. It has absolutely nothing to do with any soul? |

From what you wrote, it was because your dad “left his booming alcohol business to become a Christian “ was the reason his health dwindled.
So you’d rather he continue using his alcoholic business to destroy peoples’ lives and not stop to become a Christian. You’re a selfish person, you’re only concerned about the gains your father was making from selling alcohol to destroy peoples’ lives,
But when he eventually died, you now started digging and the digging led you into atheism! Did you read the part I said I was asking questions as a child or like I pointed out before, u have comprehension issues? |

You will end up chasing wild geese and nothing will change there are no one single history today that is totally void of error or do you know any?
As a matter of fact, the errors are indication that history books are documented at the time most people didn't have quality education which shows that what were documented in the book are true The story goes beyond what is written and requires proper interpretation for the modern and educated minds of this current era Perhaps, it was written that way for primitive minds of the ancient and mediaeval era who were more interested in mythogies for them to understand.
Also note that these kind of writings were not limited to only the bible. We have read books concerning the Greek mythology, Macbeth, The Tempest, Julius Caesar etc
Perhaps these stories actually happened. But in the real sense, they did not happen the way they are presented in the books I thought u christians believe the Bible is a divine book? So why are you comparing it to works of men? |

So first agreement… Bible isn’t 100% free of some little obvious errors.

The stories are so many, let’s pick them one by one…
