streetwize:

Gabry, I believe xtianity is truth. . . but don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean I'm intolerant to other religions or anything
Let me try to illustrate

2 + 2 = 4

now if someone comes up to me and says he believes that 2 + 2 = 5, I wont jump up and cry out your a retard. . . cuz he probably really doesn't know, all Ill try to do is help him understand that 2 + 2 = 4 and why. . .

I believe u've been searching and have come to your conclusions based on the fact that u cant wrap your head around an answer so U just conclude that 2 + 2 must equal everything and nothing. . .

Please don't give up. . . search, there is truth, there is an answer(personally I believe its Jesus). . . but it still remains that 2 + 2 equals something specific, everything cannot be right. .

Its like when astronomy and cosmology and all that were searching for the orientation of planets and the sun, the fact that they did not all agree, did not mean that the sun and planets had ALL orientations, or No orientation at all, It just meant they head to search a lil more to find the true ORIENTATION. .
And, according to you, that 2+2=4 is  . . . christianity? Why not islam or hinduism or judaism, or any other religious ideology?

To a muslim, 2+2=5 would be christianity or hinduism or buddhism or taoism or judaism. In other words, all religious ideologies, no matter in what cloak they are wrapped in, are all 2+2=5. It all depends on from whose perspective is the equation viewed. Catch my drift?

i don't think you should be putting out her business like that.

sharp man:

This is getting very amusing,

Is 'Be who u r' the same guy the OP was referring to when she said that

without exaggerating too much, he is the most perfect man to me. He is tall, dark, handsome, hardworking and very kind to a fault. He helps people at will and takes no offence whatsoever at my excesses except i over do it to a fault and instead of getting mad at me to hit me or abuse me, he just walks away for an hour or 2 and comes back as if nothing happens.

she also said this about the guy

The thing is that he is very brilliant and intelligent

I hope it's not the same person as 'Be who u r' strikes me as someone who is childish and lacks understand. He does not seem to be a patient fellow and he also seem like someone that actually takes offence.

The OP painted him in the best light possible and he comes here saying all sorts of rubbish and that the OP was setting him up for insults. If it's the same person, then I think he has started showing his true color.
Sadly, i think the guy has lost his composure. The evil christians have won. This is very sad. I hope the two can reconcile.

What sort of question is this? You want to tell me that you do not attribute the impending breakup of this two unfortunate couple to the venomous utterances of christians in here. Venomous trashtalks that are firmly based on the scriptures of their evil religion called christianity?

You talk of hatred of christianity, after reading this thread, tell me if it is not justified to loathe a religion that turn people into intolerant, venomous, fanatical bigots who have just managed to destroy a relationship. If you dey for wonderland, me i still dey hia and know what is going on.

New consciousness right? You mean that will take away all the wars, barbarisms, plagues, famine, earthquakes and co.
Yes, that is exactly what i mean. Man's inner state of being creates his world in which he lives. Man's inner state of being has been quite "unsane" for the last 3 millenia atleast and look at what kind of world we have created. The new consciousness will help create a new world for us to live in. No need to laugh, image, you will understand sooner or later.

Be who u r:

I dont believe this Fantasia. I dont believe this. When labake told me this morning that you went to a public forum to diss me, i didnt want to believe it because i was so sure you wont do anything this incomprehendable. She sent me the link to this site and i couldn't picture it had anything to do with me until i saw the nick name you used and the issue of the surgery before i knew it was truely you. After all we have been through and the promises we made not to involve third parties in what we do or say, you still went online to bring our whole lives to the world and to make matters worse for no reason i have been called unprintable names from being a devil to an antichrist to an occultist and that i would destroy your future and so forth and on. I really dont believe this to be honest Sia, i really dont want to believe this. We spoke yesterday night for almost an hour and this issue did not come up remotely and here i am reading falsehood about me and you setting me up with so many christians abusing me for no reason when they dont know us. I am still visibly shaken by this and it will take a calm head for me to properly respond to this unless i might end up regretting my words. I have never hurt you this past 4 years and have always adored you despite our religious differences but for you to take it out publicly when i have done you no wrong and allow people insult me tirelessly is quite shallow of you. I might be godless as you put it but i have never ever allowed anybody decide things for me or alowed anybody insult, confront or attack you privately or publicly and i have always respected you in everthing i have done in words and deeds. Even telling the whole world that your family hates me is just the height. Anyway before i come back to state my case, i will have a call with your brother Kenneth and show this website to him and dont worry the way things are going, your wish would be granted very soon since your website supporters think i am the most evil thing for you. Its funny how you forgot to tell them that the family that hates me so much did not fund your university education but i did and even got you your present job. You forgot to add how i take your brothers and sisters like my own family and would do anything for them just to make sure your happy. You forgot to tell them we have discussed this issue of having children and how they should be raised and i have told you that i dont care if you take them to a mosque or a buddist shrine to educate them on the religion of your choice and the only thing i would teach them is to follow their mind and embrace the concept of free will. Instead you have let people here abuse me so much and discriminate against me because i chose not to embrace any religion. I am truely pained by what i am reading and more worried how you have smeared me. Labake told me someone sent it to her before she passed it over to me to read and i have been recieving calls all day trying to diffuse this bad situation. There is a limit to what a man can take and do for a woman and i am more than convinced now that you dont want a real man who would love and cherish you and be faithful to you like i have been all these years. You tend to forget what brought us together and how your ex pastor boyfriend messed you up so much but i kept faith with you and stood by your side and this is how you pay me back by allowing people who dont know me or what i have done for you to abuse me. Remember i always tell you the reason i dont appreciate christians is because of the level of intolerance and discrimination some of them posses and you always say its not true that Christians are the most tolerant people in their words and actions and even christ mingled with sinners and unbelievers. I hope i have been vindicated . Anyway Whatever. Your friend's wishes would be granted. Everybody is saying i would spoil your future and make you unhappy because i dont believe in religion. You know what Fantasia, i also have a right to be happy too and seek peace and have someone cherish me too the way i cherished you. I will leave you to find the christian brother your new friends so crave for you now while i seek my own peace and quiet else where. I will not be bethrote to someone who sees me as a devil and an occultist when i dont even believe in that concept or practice it. I will save you the trouble of your questions to the world for advice. I will leave you peacefully and seek someone else that appreciates who i am and not what i am. Life is too short for me to worry about all these kind of things. Somebody out there would appreciate me and if you look back this past 4 years and think of one horrible wicked and terrible thing i have done to you that will warrant you to make people say these mailicious things to me , may propserity never forgive me and may i never progress. You can now call your parents and tell them the good news that the so called evil devil is out of your life.

The funniest thing about the replies of most christians here is that, it is really not that the guy professed to not believing in God is the real problem, but the real issue is that he rejected the christian god.

If the guy had said that he believes in some kind of concept of God that does not conform to the christians' concept(say, for ex, he is a pantheist), people will still be here calling him with the same names they are calling him now, so it is not about not believing in a God, but about he rejecting the CHRISTIAN IDEA OF WHAT GOD IS, hence rejecting christians themselves. This is nothing other than the imposition of the christian ideology on someone else who does not buy the ideology. This is nothing short of FANATICISM from the part of the christians.

And for those seeing problems with the possible children from these two, the kids of the future are going to be more tolerant and less closeminded than you lot.So religious factors will not matter much to them when it comes to choosing life partners. It is already happening as i type.

Religion / Re: Jesus Is Coming Again by jagunlabi(m): 7:30am On Apr 12, 2010
Jesus is not coming again. What is coming is the christ consciousness, the total awakening and expansion or blossoming of humanity's consciousness out of the tiny boxes it has been imprisoned in for millenia, and it is already here and happening(perhaps slower in Nigeria due to the still very strong grip of religions and their doctrines on people's minds). The old consciousness of the last 3 or 4 millenia is leaving and a new one is already here to replace it. That is the christ consciousness, when all that is hidden shall be revealed, when the old ways things are structured on earth will be destroyed and replaced with a new and much more evolved version to enable peace, love, unity and tranquility to reign on earth once again. Anyone waiting for the white hippie to appear in the skies as their saviour returning, will be thoroughly disappointed.

Not to be able to let go, to shed the old consciousness that has caused so much sufferings, mayhem, havoc, genocide, over the past millenia, and be able to embrace the new consciousness, the new way of being, the christ consciousness, is what is meant by being unprepared.

Most religious folks fall into this category of the very spiritually unprepared because they are still immersed in religious doctrines that are totally founded on the old consciousness. That is why we still have violence, savagery and barbarisms happening worldwide in the name of our differences. The Jos massacre comes to mind. So this is the time to readjust, folks, 'cos the time is running out. Time to get rid of the old ways of thinking, of being, and embrace the new consciousness, the christ consciousness, or be left by the way side to your own selfcreated hell. This is not about what one believe in, but rather about what one's state of being is.

So, folks, start updating your operating systems now before they become redundant and you all fall by the wayside and get left behind. Don't cling on to windows DOS when others will be running on windows 7 or better. A word is enough for the wise. smiley

Why should the death of jesus that happened two millenia ago be of any importance to people that live today? And why do you think that that should change the gospel singers' fortune? I do not follow your train of thought there.

Two millenia ago is two millenia ago. Two millenia later is two millenia later. Two totally different eras running on totally different dynamics and programme. The peoples who live in both eras are totally different to each other in many areas, running on totally different programmes. Two words of advice,"MARRY HIM"
You are not going to see any better man to propose to you in any church, i swear. All you will see in churches are a bunch of scriptural hypocrites and bible thumbing bigots of men who use biblical scriptures to disrespect and belittle women. The socalled religious men have egos the size of mount Everest.

If you let him out of your grasp because of peer pressure, my sister, ya own don finish as far as Mr. right is concerned.Your boyfriend(according to your description of him) is far more spiritual than any christian man you have and will ever know.

It is your life and your happiness and not that of your parents and your church brethrens, so choose wisely.
Sia Fuller:

I am an Avid reader of Nairaland and i have never bothered to comment but to enjoy the comments and advices of others i relationship matters but i think i now need your assistance before i lose the plot.

I have been dating this guy for a while now and honestly speaking without exaggerating too much, he is the most perfect man to me. He is tall, dark, handsome, hardworking and very kind to a fault. He helps people at will and takes no offence whatso ever at my excesses except i over do it to a fault and instead of getting mad at me to hit me or abuse me, he just walks away for an hour or 2 and comes back as if nothing happens. The only snag i have with him is that he is an atheist and doesnt believe in God whatso ever. I am a very strong Christian and i didnt take it as anything at first when he was trying to date me. I saw it as a juvenile boy's thing and maybe misguided and my purpose was to date him to make him change his ways and believe in God, but instead he has kept steadfast to his belief of not believing in God and hating anything about religion but apart from that, he is everything a girl could want in a man or more.

Since i have known him, he doesnt smoke or drink or party, move around with unserious or bad friends. He has never cheated on me and promised to never do so because its not his nature. He hasn't hit me before and also swore the day that he hits me mistakenly i should stab him and dump him there and then because he doesnt appreciate Men who beat women. He takes care of me and sometimes even cook for me when ever i come to his place. He even paid close to N300,000 for my hospital bills when i had a surgery and he stayed with me most of the time. I know he truely and genuinely loves me but this issue of his religion and atheism is my only problem with him. He has even driven me to church on so many occassions when it rains or when am going for Night Virgil but he never comes down or attends it and he sometimes comes back to pick me up when i am done.

He blatantly refuses to change. My pastor dislikes him so much and sees him as a bad influence to me because he says anybody that is not of the spirit and with the spirit of God is a temptation to be cut loose. My Mom doesnt even want to hear anything about him until he renounces his atheism but she hasnt complained about him concerning anything else. My Dad has warned me not to bring a devil to his house hold and sees him as a Devil's incarnate and spritually unclean. He even promised to disown me if i ever call him my financee talkless of bringing home as a potential husband. Most of my female friends drool over him and tell me how lucky i am to meet such a good man while others warn me that he is demonic and i should stay away from him because he doesnt believe in God.

The thing is that he is very brilliant and intelligent and when you hear him speak sometimes he could be so mesmerizing when denouncing religion and the bible or Koran as mere propagandas and fictional works. There was even a day some people in my fellowship came to meet him to pray and convert him and it turned into a debate and he ended up winning the argument and making us question or faith back in a total reversal of roles. He is very unsparing and merciless when it comes to things of God, Bible or religion and makes no apologises for it. Apart from that, he is a total kitty cat. Calm, collected, mature, responsible and humble. 2 days ago he jokingly made a feeble attempt to propose to me but added a clause that we would only do a registry marriage and not church wedding because he cant stand the site of the hypocrisy of christianity and the church but he would go out of his way to make sure i have a memorable wedding @ the registry and reception. He tells me that prayers dont work and only daft and lazy people believe in prayers. He says you don't have to be a christian to be kind, compassionate and honest and to help people. He says its human nature and the society that dictates how we think and act and he chooses to be someone that is kind and honest to people and not attribute it to one God or Church. Anytime i come back from Church and talk about my pastor or what i was taught, he gets very angry. He doesnt like hearing anything about pastors, churches, tithes and sermons but when you get into a biblical argument with him, its as if he knows the bible inside out and the right quotes without even reading it. He is that articulate.

For the past 2 days i have been in a dilema now. He wants to marry me i believe and i love him seriously to bits. I have dated other so called born again or spiritually filled guys in my past that messed me up so badly and i know alot of men use this as a bait to catch women and end up showing their true colors later on. My boyfriend is not disguising who he is in terms of his spirituality but he is offering me this unconditional love which i have seen and no man has given me despite their promises. My only fear is that my parents will see me as an out cast, my friends dont like him for it, my pastor and church members loathe him for being an athiest and dislike more everyday i am with him. If i go ahead with my choice to stick with him, i lose my soul and my community but gain happiness because he has truely being a wonderful man so far but if i leave him for my friends, family and community i might lose my prince charming that every woman dreams of that loves me dearly.

I am really confused and i have to make a decision quickly. Please help advise me. Please no nasty comments too i beg you. Hope we can be civil with this.

P:S: I will be 30 in September.

Fornicating making love with the one you love is not a sin.It is obeying natural human instincts to make love to that person that one feels deeply attached to, married or unmarried.I give my woman TDBs from time to time(whenever time and stamina permits) without regret or remorse, and we are not married.

On the financial lucrativeness(or lack of it), even though the christian population is large enough to sustain gospel singers, the poor faithfuls have already invested and are still investing so much of their money in financing and sustaining their pastors lavish lifestyles with all them private jets, that they don't have much left to give to gospel singers.Talk of money badly spent.

Secular artists pulls more crowd of fans than Gospel singers these days. Some of their songs are all void of edification but vulgar lyrics that promotes idolatry and fornication. Do you think these artists would probably become a gospel artist? what will their fans do at this move?
Lol!Why should they leave a lucrative area and move into a niche one?Are you kidding or what?Gospel music is a niche music genre directed ONLY at a particular kind of audience called, CHRISTIANS.Why make music for a niche group when you can write songs for much wider and larger audience?Artists that move out of gospel music probably do so because they felt boxed up by all those ideological walls surruonding them and wanted to spread their creative wings without those walls to contend with, among other reasons. Gospel music was probably way too restrictive for them creatively.

Okay, i am just as unhapppy as you about the very shallow lyrics of nigerian pop music artists, but a musician does not have make gospel music to make songs with meaningful and deep lyrics.I find most gospel tracks to be quite shallow and one dimensional as well. All they ever sing about is praising and glorifying their own religion and the god they worship. There is no depth in that.

Whenever a gospel singer opens his or her mouth to sing, you just know what lyrics are coming out. They are just too predictable.Gospel music lack spiritual depth that goes beyond just praising and glorifying some gods somewhere in the sky.Gospel music is nothing but a propaganda music genre for propagating christian religious ideologies and most people know this deep down, so they reject it to a large extent.

A good musician should always make songs with deep spiritual lyrics that are devoid of religious bias, and the type that the entire humanity can and should identify with and not just a niche group. . . as well as fun and lighthearted music. Gospel artists will do well to take note of that if they want to pull in wider audience.

Lol!A creator needs to have faith in HIM/HER/ITSELF and the possessed creative abilities to be able to create anything, and that includes GOD.This one is not rocket science.

Coming to the level of us humans, any individual that possesses high creative capabilities but lacks any faith in himself or herself and is always looking for some external figure to do the creational acts for him or her is not going to do much creating of anything.

Since GOD is the alpha and the omega - meaning that it is the only thing in existence, meaning that it is all alone - it is forced to have faith in itself to carry out the creational acts.
