Thank you Op for bringing this topic; i also have a lady i am currently dating that is exhibiting this trait. Ladies like that want to be controlling husband`s life, she would soon create a wall between you and everybody if you don`t fight it now.

I think i have to drop her sharp sharp before she destroys all my relationship with people.

Education / Re: Beware! List Of 55 Illegal Universities In Nigeria - NUC 2015 List by jahrule: 9:16pm On Apr 26, 2015
I think university of London external should not be on that list as what they do is distance learning and thei. Exams are set and marked in London.

Learning has gone beyond being in 4 walls of a building named university when every can be learnt by use of modern technologies. Graduates of university of London external are not in same League with average graduates of the so called accredited institutions.

I think decision makers in NUC are just too dogmatic or don't know the essence of university education.

I think we should stop being emotional over this issue, from all replies so far i think majority of people on this thread are students. I you take your time to find out the continuation of this strike you will see that it is actually FG`s fault, ASUU has agreed to call off the strike but need assurance from FG that they will implement the agreement reached at the so call 13 hour meeting with the mr President. Since they have communicated with their members they agreement reached and majority have adopted it, it now important to formally legalise it by telling the FG to sign it and witnessed by the NLC so for future reason when FG decides to renege the agreement they could have something as evidence but FG is playing smart through minister of education spreading propaganda to make ASUU look bad. I f FG do not have something sinister they should gladly sign the agreement as demanded by ASUU but FG already know what they are doing and ASUU is too smart this time around to be lied to. So before you start condemning an action always take your time to find out the from all the parties involved.

you are joking right? we must understand that Nigeria is actually making progress though at very slow rate and the progress made since return to the civil rule out weight the progress made under the military in 80s, 90s and beyond. it will only get better with time.

Good! We have many elites and pundits, many professors, academicians etc. Are we not educated enough? Or what type of EDUCATION do we really need?
The essence of education has been eluded to mean accumulation of certificates, i pity for my country. Brother been educated has nothing to do with accumulating academics certificates. Essence of education is to have critical minds, questions things. I am sorry i don`t know how to say it more than that, those that understand essence of education already know what i am talking about. The missing link is that we wrongfully thinks going to university to get accumulate certificates is same as been educated when people minds have not been liberated, we have a long way to go.

How? Can you please expatiate
Nigerian believe everything their leaders say, more so they leaders have successfully created hatred among different wards whereas they don`t see difference among themselves when sharing our common wealth.
Nigerian are so funny that they leave the needful and start chasing UN-needed things like preference of your tribesmen over merit. I can go on and on. so i concluded that the problem is not tribalism, corruption but successful capturing of the populace mind to think in the way they want them to think and it is pity the gullibility is almost everywhere.

Point of correction, Afonja was overthrown by his Armies not that he went into war with them and got defeated.
boay: I have read through the different post and I discover that some are jumping into hasty conclusion and generalisation due to the fact that they are not aware of some things. I am from Kwara state. I am a Yoruba man of the Igbomina part of Yoruba. Kogi and Kwara state are both 'confused' states due to the wishy washy geo political zoning of Nigeria. I will focus more on Kwara state. The state capital Ilorin has a Yoruba origin through Afonja but Yoruba seems to have lost their stand after Afonja was defeated by Alimi. This account for why we have an Emir in Ilorin. Most other parts of Kwara are the Yorubas called the Igbominas. For people who are conversant with Yoruba history, the Igbomina are one of the most significant part of Yoruba with a very large proportion in Kwara state (and some in Osun). In fact Omu Aran, one of the major towns in Kwara is well known to be a major part to the origin of Yoruba (Igbomina) . If at all Nigeria will divide Kwara and Kogi will also divide immediately but may God help us and allow the best to happen. I will be back....

If Ibadan is the administrative head of Yoruba, Ekiti / Ondo as Academic/ research Headquarters, Ife Osun is spiritual home and Lagos been Economic Headquarters. I think Kwara can be the Military Headquaters since they are more like that or what do you think about this.
Politics / Re: Proposed National Conference: A Case For Kwara State by jahrule: 5:59pm On Oct 22, 2013
I am from Kwara state and i have been following this thread from page one, i think you people need to correct a notion which thinking all Kwarans are Ilorin. Everything that has been discussed here are purely Ilorin`s problem and not Kwara as a whole. When go outside Ilorin in Kwara state go and call anybody Fulani and get your Head cut off your Neck. There have been some agitation for creation of states in Kwara state just in order for other people to be able to join their kinsmen in south west like Offa agitating for creation of Ibolo state, Igbomina whose population is the highest also agitating for state.Above all, even Ilorin stance in my opinion is mainly for political and religion reasons if eventuality happens They will join Yoruba for sure. If you doubt me, check the population of people in OPC i mean Odua People Congress, The Agberos in Lagos are also mostly of Kwara extraction. This two miscrants groups are dominated by Ibadan and Kwara and mostly Ilorin Kwara. so don`t confuse religion and political sentiment as reality on ground.

This write up is non-sense, do BAT force people to smoke? The problem with Nigerians is we put sentiments(religion perspectives) in everything about our lives. If you don`t want to see BAT please close your eyes whenever you pass through where they are situated. The development is good for the state income, more employment. Infact Fashola should welcome them with chieftaincy title.

Education / Re: Intimate Harassment In LASU! Pls Help! by jahrule: 12:28pm On Sep 26, 2013
tyyworld: OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY GOVERNOR BABATUNDE RAJI FASHOLA (SAN), THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF LAGOS STATE ON THE SEXUAL HARRASSMENT IN LASU

Dear Sir,

The issue of sexual harassment and misconduct by lecturers in Nigerian universities has always been reoccurring in some of our universities and many lecturers have been found culpable in this ignoble act to the detriment of students. So many students have been victims of lecturers' escapades and we can no longer keep quiet over this issue that has ruined the lives of many students who have been our classmates or school mates as the case may be.

At the Lagos State University (LASU ), Ojo, we have so many dedicated lecturers who take their job seriously and discharge their duties accordingly. But there are those who capitalise in sexually harassing students they are meant to teach. At the Faculty of Law in LASU, the Sub-Dean of the faculty, Mr A. O. Ogunseye is one lecturer who has been known to be involved in the victimisation of students and sexual harassment of girls.

Your Excellency, I want to bring your attention to this issue and the attention of Nigerians to what we are passing through in the hands of Mr Ogunseye because we are tired of this extortion, victimisation and sexual harassment by him.

He has been doing this for a long time and for over five years without any form of reprimand from the school management thereby causing many students grief, pain and delays in their academic pursuit. The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor John Oladapo Obafunwa is a man of integrity and I believe that if he is aware of this act, he will not hesitate to deal with such lecturer accordingly. Mr Ogunseye has committed so many atrocities against we students in the Faculty of Law and I think it is time to let you and the whole world know that we have suffered enough in silence.

He gives many girls 5 points after taking them to bed and many other brilliant students who deserve to have 5 or 4 points he would deny them this and would give them 1 or 2 points at most, even when it is glaring that these academically sound students deserve more than what he gave them. He collects huge amount of money from students in order to falsify and upgrade their results for them. Recently, he told a girl doing her undergraduate programme in Law and who is supposed to graduate with a third class degree to pay him one hundred and fifty thousand naira in order for him to upgrade her grade to second class upper. But when the girl told him she didn't have the money, he advised her to sell her blackberry phone in order to bring the money to him. He is obsessed with money and sex and has slept with so many girls in the Faculty of Law in order to give them marks they don't merit and many of them have suffered too much in his hands.

He also collects two hundred and fifty thousand naira from some students doing their Masters in Law (LL.M) programmes in order to upgrade their score to a higher score or grade which they don't merit. Every year, Mr Ogunseye abandons his official duty and travels abroad and spends up to two months without leave or any approval from the faculty and he would assign his course to junior lecturers who are not competent to handle the course. His stock in trade is to continually extort money from students and he has agents who usually solicit on his behalf for other students to pay him money for marks. As a result of his dishonourable role in upgrading scores for students, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr Olatokunbo Obadina had to change the password of the portal used by lecturers in the Faculty of Law for uploading students' results so that Mr Ogunseye will not have access to carry out his despicable acts.

Mr Ogunseye was my project supervisor and for over four months he kept tossing me up and down and refused to approve my project even after collecting over ten thousand naira from me and despite all the efforts I put in researching, writing, re-writing and typing the project and all the money I spent in doing this. Later when I discovered he was not ready to approve my project and was only interested in continuing to extort money from me, I had to apply for another project supervisor, Barrister Gbenga Ojo, who supervised my project and approved it without delay and without collecting any money from me. But I had to write another project for Barrister Ojo since his own department is different from that of Mr Ogunseye.

It is so frustating the type of pain, both emotional and psychological, which Mr Ogunseye has put many students through. By his conduct, he is a disgrace to the Faculty of Law and the Lagos State University as a whole. People like this should not be entrusted with positions of authority because they end up abusing their power and corrupting the minds of young and upcoming students and jeopardising the future of many of them.

I hereby call on you sir, as the Visitor to the Lagos State University, to institute a proper and thorough investigation into this issue of sexual harassment, intimidation, victimisation, dereliction of duty and extortion by Mr Ogunseye, the Sub-Dean of the faculty of Law and if found culpable, he should be dealt with accordingly.

We recall that some lecturers were sacked recently by the University of Benin for these same issues of sexual harassment and extortion of students. Any lecturer who engages in this dishonourable behaviour does not deserve to be a lecturer and should be shown the way out of the university system to avoid bringing down the image of the university.

I hereby call on the Nigerian media to also investigate this matter discreetly using their tool of investigative journalism and I want the media to come to LASU Faculty of Law and interview many students on this issue especially girls who have been sexually harassed and abused on several occasions by Mr Ogunseye. This matter must not be swept under the carpet by the Lagos State government, the media and all well meaning Nigerians because enough is enough. We have suffered enough and we can no longer keep quiet in the face of flagrant abuses and misconduct by our own lecturers who should be role models to the youths.

It is my hope that this letter will be given adequate publicity by the media to let Nigerians know what we are passing through in LASU in the hands of randy lecturers even after the school fees were increased to a whooping two hundred and fifty thousand naira per student.

From: Adeshina Johnson.

Career / Re: Help! "I Signed Myself Into Slavery because Of Unemployment N Now I Can't Get Out" by jahrule: 12:05pm On Jul 11, 2013
etunoman76: Please I urgently need the help of any legal practitioners. I really don't know what I've gotten my self into.

I finished NYSC last year and two months later I was interviewed for a job at an Indian owned Pharmaceutical company. After two months I was offered the job as a Medical representative. My self and all other successful applicants were given a one-week training before we were all dispatched to our different states.

Among the employment forms we were given to sign there was a SERVICE BOND form which states that "I am to work with the company for TWO YEARS or pay a sum of 250.000" I signed because of the employment situation in the country and to be honest I was desperate I couldn't afford to be unemployed I had so many family pressures I was almost becoming depressed.

I am now on the job and my people I AM SEEING HELL!!! I work tirelessly my salary is less than 100k I spend a greater amount of it on transportation(Nature of the Job as a Medical Representative I Move from one place to the other) we were promised a car for mobility but this is almost 6months and absolutely nothing is being said about it. I am under the sun under the rain working. I hate complaining because I feel it is synonymous to being ungrateful but some days I can't take it I feel like quitting on the spot!

After I realised the service bond I signed I refused to sign the offer of employment letter (I still have it in my possession). Now I'm seeking a less stressful job because honestly this one is beginning to affect my health. How do I go about this SERVICE BOND please I really need help. I can't pay that 250k I can barely save up to 20k every month infact successfully saving 10k a month is a miracle! And I can't work for another 18 months I'm not sure I will survive. Please I need Your help!

http://news.naij.com/39768.html

It is not an enforceable contract for the following reasons;
1. They have not made any special investment in you like sending you on specialized training
2. The have not fulfill their own part of the contract

What you have signed does not mean they would win you if you are charged to court, every job seeker in your situation will likely do what you did. If it is enforceable then every employer would have been doing that in order to retain its talents. It is an unfair contract term. So when you get another job that meet your taste gladly resign appropriately.

If you already have another job at hand right now there are two things you can do immediately

1. Resign appropriately as stated above because it is not enforceable in court of law or
2. play a fast a one on them by resigning and stating in your letter of resignation that since the company has failed to fulfill its own promise (as in provision of motor vehicle to aid your job), it has made your job much difficult and you hereby tender your resignation since they can not fulfill their promise. note: intentionally state it in your resignation letter that they did not fulfill their obligation that is why you are forced to resign your appointment.
Better you consult a lawyer for advice. i hope my suggestions help you.
