Bandits can easily be located with drones equipped with a thermal imaging identification system, all under $200,000. Our government is just being dishonest.
This is true. A VTOL drone with ISR cameras can be bought for $100K USD, yet despite all the public displays of those exact models by various state governors and security agencies, NONE were deployed to find the Oyo school children.

For trying to protect himself? Bandit's guns are not licensed, and no one is arresting any of them.
Bandits have no address, but a typical civilian can easily be traced if he is showing off illegal guns online
Crime › Re: Inside The Coordinated Mission To Rescue Kidnapped Students In Oyo State by Jakumo(m): 8:28am On May 28
This is the news that the world has been waiting to hear. This belated but welcome involvement of multiple agencies and aerial reconnaissance assets in the search for those school children is a good development that will hopefully yield results in the next few days.

The torrential rain reported across Nigeria means those kidnap victims will be exposed to extreme cold in addition to the torture they are being subjected to by their captors, so the urgency of this rescue operation cannot be understated.
Crime › Re: Oyo Kidnap: Hunt Them In The Bush, Don't Negotiate by Jakumo(m): 9:08pm On May 27
Babatunjo:
Thank you bro. One small correction on the timeline so the record is straight. The two DA 42 MNG ISR aircraft were approved by Oyo Exco in July 2025, not two years ago. The governor's recent statement is that they arrived in Nigeria, are in final assembly and testing with the Nigerian Air Force in Lagos, and should be operational on or before end of June 2026. So roughly 11 months from approval to (promised) operation.

That said, your wider point stands. 11 months is still too long for a state under active siege from kidnappers, and the federal government with far more capability has been quiet. Time is the one thing hostages don't have.
Those Diamond D42 manned aircraft sell for $2M a pop, when fitted with all the ISR camera gear, whereas unmanned drones with similar night vision cameras, that can stay aloft for 12 hours at a time could be bought for just $100K USD each. TWENTY such VTOL drones with night vision and flight duration far greater than that of the manned D42, could have been bought for the price of EACH of those two aircraft, and pressed into service IMMEDIATELY.

Just think of how quickly those kidnapped schoolkids would have been found if just FIVE unmanned drones were sent over that vast forest area to fly grid patterns at such high altitude that the engines would not be heard on the ground. It breaks my heart to see the state governor there in Oyo wasting money on the most expensive aerial surveillance option that is now taking an eternity to become operational.
Crime › Re: Oyo Kidnap: Hunt Them In The Bush, Don't Negotiate by Jakumo(m): 4:03am On May 27
Babatunjo:

Make una hear me. 39 students. 7 teachers. A child as young as TWO. And a maths teacher beheaded in captivity. cry
And the talk now is negotiation. Opening "communication channels" with them.

Think about who we are begging. These are not people with honour. Men who behead a teacher and seize toddlers are not rational actors you reason with, and many of them are high on hard drugs round the clock. You cannot appeal to a conscience that the drugs and the killing have already burned away. You negotiate with them, you only rubbish yourself. And you tell every other gang that Oyo children are easy money.

The only language they understand is force. Find them, surround them, free the hostages, and take the armed men out of action. Hunt them in the bush.

And here is the good news. The tools to do this are now within our reach. A few years ago serious ISR technology was expensive and locked away in big militaries. Today it is far cheaper and far more available:
:: Surveillance drones with thermal cameras track every human heat through bush at night. A forest has finite exits.
:: Satellite comms (Starlink-type) give one live map for every patrol team instead of hunters wandering blind with no signal.
:: Data fusion (Palantir-style) pulls phone records, money trails and informant tips into one picture so the network shows.
:: AI pattern analysis. Three schools hit at once is planned and rehearsed. Study the pattern, get ahead of the next one.
Oyo even has surveillance aircraft inbound, two ISR planes due to be operational by end of June. Good. The capability is coming. The will must match it.

To be clear: armed terrorists in the bush get hunted and neutralised in a proper rescue operation, hostage safety first. Suspects captured face the court, the ones in the bush get hunted and neutralised. No jungle justice. Two different things.

The deterrence na simple maths. Make capture or being hunted down in the bush the guaranteed end of school kidnappings. Make ransom impossible to collect. And understand this: every naira paid as ransom is the budget for the next attack. The guns, the bikes, the fuel, the next raid on another school, you are funding all of it. Pay them today and you are buying the kidnapping of other Nigerians tomorrow. They run cost-benefit like any business.

Stop the begging. Hunt them. cool
This is a concise and intelligent approach to dealing with terrorists, who are all vermin that must be exterminated as the top priority, even if some collateral damage occurs in the process. This will send a clear message to the rest of those sub-humans that hostages are not an asset but a liability that will draw obliterating fire immediately.

The only point raised in your excellent submission that I find puzzling is the mention that surveillance drones, purportedly acquired by the Oyo State government two years ago, will only become available for operations "in June", for unstated reasons that could never make sense even if they were offered. It is a ridiculous and absurd situation in which drones that the Oyo State government claimed have been imported over two YEARS ago, are STILL not operational.

If that pathetic excuse by the Oyo State government is allowed to stand, then why the hell has the FEDERAL government not stepped in with their drones, given that the kidnapped children are likely being starved and tortured while being exposed to torrential rain, mosquitoes and sadistic brutality that a sane human mind cannot begin to comprehend?

When any kidnapping is perpetrated, time is of the essence, therefore it is bewildering to see the casual, unhurried non-response by ALL levels of government, when hostages are likely being killed on a daily basis. For heaven's sake, even if the Nigerian federal government is not willing to offer aerial reconnaissance drones, why has the USA's military alliance not been sought to save those children and their teachers ?

In my capacity as the lawyer of the "goat" that is shown being paraded with the suspected goat thieves, I must raise an initial objection to the misidentification of my esteemed client as a "goat" when clearly he is a RAM with all rigthts and privileges therein.

Furthermore, my client, Double Chief Alhaji Agbolabi is NOT a suspect in this case of goat theft, and therefore should not have been paraded beside the usual suspects in the above picture.

Accordingly, I intend to file a robust lawsuit with the Abuja Supreme Court seeking substantive monetary compensation for this egregious act of defamation committed by the Nigerian police, due to the serious damage caused to the reputation of my client Double Chief Agbolabi, and as legal redress for the mental anguish he has experienced during the course of this unfortunate dereliction of duty by our law enforcement officers who should have known better than to stage this kind of embarasing spectacle.

The audacity of some stinky little cattle-herding urchin Guinea-boy from Futa Djallon DEMANDING to speak to a sitting state governor in Nigeria would be comical were it not for the innocent children held by the arrogant demon and his soon-to-be-annihilated cohorts.

Perhaps the special forces are closing in and panic is rising in cowardly hearts, so these horrid little murderers think they can negotiate their way out of precision death from above, or from the jungle shadows that conceal the approaching administrators of natural justice.

The end game is near. God bless the Nigerian military. Let slip the dogs of war and let havoc reign upon the messengers of evil.

If the cutlass will help give this man some peace of mind, then the school authorities should allow him to bring it to school.

He probably knows that the cutlass would not be an effective weapon against terrorist gunmen, however, if he has to flee into the bush in the event that the approach of attackers is heard, then the cutlass will enable him to cut a path of escape through the bush that he and his friends can use to make good their escape.

Ok I understand. It still took way too long for that flight preparation process. Shame on all these schools routing courses in counterterrorism, cyber terrorism and the likes.
Lecturers wey be say na only to vomit from books, no practicability
I am deeply saddened and disappointed that there has been no televised national address by our president at the very least, assuring the nation that all that can be done to bring back those children safely WILL be done, and publicly directing the military to deploy all relevant assets.

To remain dead silent in the wake of this horrific abduction and torture of school children is in my opinion an appalling dereliction of duty on the part of an elected national leader, that one can only hope will be addressed and corrected in the next few days.

Your mention that the drones acquired by the Oyo State government recently did NOT go into service immediately, because they await "certification" is just as disheartening to hear. Such equipment should have been deployed in 24 hours, while whatever paperwork deemed to be needed could have been processed in parallel without the need to ground the aircraft unnecessarily. That needless delay has now cost lives.

Rapmoney:
Never use this expression: 'I flashed her' or 'I flashed him' when you find yourself in a country where standard English is spoken. Examples are the United Kingdom, US, Australia, Canada, etc.

REASON: It might be a slang for saying you called someone and hang up quickly for them to call you back in Nigeria, but in these countries, it means to show someone your unclothedness or nude, which is a very serious crime

WHAT TO SAY INSTEAD: The standard English for that expression is 'I gave him or her a missed call' or 'I gave him or her a quick ring'.

I hope you have learnt something today?
This is very true. The term "flash" is uniquely Nigerian and does NOT translate to any other country on earth.

The entire nation should be fixated on this kidnap incident,APC and oyo state govts can be wasting billions annually on airtime to air there purposeless party rallies and activities but cannot cover this matter so the whole world can know whats really going on.....its a shame and whats NTA and OSBC doing, its not like they have any important programming they air.
My goodness, you are the second respondent to this topic that has completely misunderstood the points I have raised. No sir, I am most certainly NOT a drone seller. I mentioned my ownership of drones to establish the fact that I am more aware than most about the capabilities of drones, and their importance in surveilling dangerous situations BEFORE ground forces are deployed.

If the reports emanating from locals in the area where this tragedy is unfolding happen to be true, then sadly an unknown number of soldiers, police officers, and civilians are now DEAD because they were sent hastily in pursuit of the kidnappers BEFORE adequate drone surveillance of the entire area had been conducted in a process that would have taken minutes to accomplish.

I share your exasperation that five long days after those innocent children and their teachers were kidnapped, their current location remains a mystery despite the fact that highly capable drones at the disposal of the Oyo State Amotekun corps, and the military. The thrust of my opinion is that aerial surveillance with thermal cameras should have been conducted BEFORE ground forces were sent in pursuit. If that step had been taken, those soldiers and law enforcement officers would not have fallen victim of the ambush that reportedly claimed so many of them as they rushed forward blindly without the benefit of intelligence gathered from the eye in the sky.

Jakumo is a well known military/pro-govt mouthpiece. Your explanatiom makes no sense and thus comes across as propaganda.
I am merely expressing my utter bafflement about the length of time it is taking to pinpoint the location of the kidnappers and their victims, bearing in mind the fact that drones capable of spotting people by day or night even if they are hidden under tree cover are readily available in Oyo State. If you take time to read what I have written, you will agree that the intent is NOT "propaganda", but is an urgent call for more effective use of aerial surveillance drones which are ALREADY in the possession of the military AND of the civilian Amotekun corps.

I own multiple hobby-grade drones whose capabilities are nowhere near the specifications of the drones that are already in possession of the government and Amotekun corps, but the knowledge I have gained over the years of operating drones is the reason I know how easily and quickly the kidnappers and their captives SHOULD have been located once the first distress call had been recorded.

Code Templar, I take exception to your opinion that this topic could be construed as "propaganda" when it is actually an expression of growing impatience over the slow pace at which drone surveillance is being utilized. It is a known fact that ARMED drones are already in the Nigerian police inventory, so it is tragic that foot patrols where sent into harm's way without the option of aerial location and attack being deployed as the first and primary response to this unfolding tragedy.
Crime › Oyo State Kidnapping - Rumors Of Major Ambush by Jakumo(op):
It is understandable that there would be a news blackout as military and law enforcement agents intensify their search of the massive forest reserve in Oyo State where the kidnapped children are still being held nearly a week after their abduction from their school classrooms, but rumors filtering out of that remote rural area hint at an alarming reason for that news blackout that has nothing to do with routine operational secrecy.

Reports from reliable sources in the area of the kidnapping suggest that the combined forces of both military and civilian militias that quickly mobilized to rescue the children came within close enough proximity to the fleeing terrorists that the cries of the abducted children were clearly audible to the pursuers.

Encouraged by the closeness of their objective, the pursuing forces pressed forward but then suddenly found themselves in the kill zone of a skillfully prepared ambush that let to the infliction of massive casualties that included soldiers, police officers, and civilian vigilante men. The terrorists had evidently anticipated the forest paths that would be used by their pursuers, and had planted anti-personnel mines in large numbers, which caught the trackers by surprise.

If the unofficial reports filtering out of the area are to to be believed, there was a series of explosions that cut numerous members of the rescue team to pieces, causing the survivors to tactically retreat under sustained fire laid down by the terrorists, who had positioned a few of their numbers along those paths to engage the survivors of the anti-personnel mines in a deadly ambush attack. The exact number of those killed in action remains uncertain but the ferocity of the exchange was enough to terminate the initial ground pursuit that was hastily organized shortly after the abduction occurred.

From the description of that skirmish, it is patently clear that the terrorists showed evidence of possessing jungle warfare military training, which is an unforeseen factor that must now be taken into account over the course of the next few days as new approaches to executing this urgent and delicate rescue are devised by the military high command.

In addition to the low altitude manned helicopters that are patrolling the skies over that forest reserve that is now effectively surrounded, it is absolutely VITAL that unmanned drones with high-magnification thermal cameras should be deployed so that the location of the terrorists and their victims can be GPS-marked in real time, regardless of whether it is day or night, and regardless of whether the terrorists attempt to hide their victims under the canopy of trees in that forest.

Not long ago, the Oyo State Amotekun security outfit publicized their new VTOL drones that are no doubt equipped with thermal cameras having night vision capability, such that human body heat can be spotted even under forest canopies, by day or night. These drones MUST be deployed IMMEDIATLY as a supplementary surveillance platform that will greatly reduce the odds of any further ambushes being sprung as this perilous pursuit of the kidnap gang and their victims continues apace.

Wow, this is such a tragic story. She is such an extraordinarily beautiful woman. Yet, one man who may have known that he carried the deadly virus, slept with her without wearing a condom, and in that encounter, followed perhaps by a few others, irreversibly destroyed her life in the fullness of its nubile bloom.

Now she is angry. The visible signs that she carries a deadly virus probably don't show most of the time. Her beauty makes her utterly irresistible to any man, and given a choice between unprotected sex or none at all, most men would walk into the trap with both eyes open.

With ease, this sultry temptress now pledges to lure men to their deaths via unprotected sex in vengeance for what a man did to her.

This is a Shakespearian tragedy unfolding. Only those few lucky men who stumbled across her online declaration of war would be safe from her irresistible seductive allure, and from the consequences of giving in to lust.
