All of you talking about we electing the leaders we derserve. How have your votes influenced who becomes what in Naija? The godfathers choose who they want and we only go there to vote like zombies or is it kobo humanjunkies. I will say the umpteenth time that our leaders are responsible for our woes. Petty corruption by the masses arose out of the need to survive because our leaders have not provided the necessities for our existence. We are under captivities for now. There is nothing like democracy yet in Naija. Please know that for now. |

Whenever we talk about sexual promiscuity, we always point acussing fingers to the menfolks. If I may ask, did the men shag IROKO trees or human beings? If they shagged human beings, then those beings most of the time are females. If the men shag females, then the females shag the males too. This means that both males and females are equally promiscuous. This is 50-50 promiscuosity for both sexes. Abi, I talk lie? |

This disease is rampant in our society now. Previously, men were the worse offenders, but it's like women are catching up fast. If care is not taken, women might overtake men sooner than we think. It's like our sex hormones are getting hotter and more active these days. . Lord have mercy. |

The same leaders are responsible for it. Note that any person who once held position of authority is still a leader even after he has completed his tenor, because he automatically becomes a godfather and a force to be reckoned with in his clan, or his village, or his LGA, or his state and even at the federal level, thus can influence issues and persons to the direction of his interest. Our corrupt leaders ensure that it is only persons who will do their biddings (stooges) that power be given or transferred to. The real masses have no power to choose leaders in the present day Nigeria. Either serving or retired leaders dictate who becomes a leader according to their whims and caprices. So in the actual fact, leaders are not elected by the masses but imposed by the godfathers. Other vices by the masses are mere expression of their frustration in the system. |

Hmmm. These are stong allegations. I know the President will not rest on his oars until bad eggs are eliminated from his government. Meanwhile, read the article below: Yar'Adua suspends NERC boss, commissioners Written by Emma Ujah Abuja Bureau Chief Thursday, 19 February 2009
ABUJA—PRESIDENT Umaru Yar’Adua has suspended the Chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Ransom Owan and his commissioners in line with the recommendations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which is currently investigating allegations of graft leveled against them. The President also appointed the commission’s Secretary, Mr. Imamuddeen Talba to oversee the affairs of the organization till further notice.
Dr. Rilwanu Babalola, the Minister of Power told journalists in Abuja, yesterday, that the suspension was to give the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) free hand to undertake full investigation into the alleged financial misconduct against the top officials.
“Based on its preliminary findings, the EFCC recommended to the federal government the suspension of the commissioners to allow it proceed with detailed and unfettered investigation of the matter.
“Following the recommendation of the EFCC, President Yar’Adua approved the suspension of the seven commissioners of NERC pending the resolution of the matter,” Babalola disclosed.
Dr. Babalola dispelled allegations that the arrest of Dr. Owan and his commissioners was a script written by those who wanted them out of office, noting that there was no basis for such a script and that ‘there was no script whatsoever’.
“The president is not interfering in the matter. I have no reason whatsoever to interfere in the matter. From this side, we prefer to work by facts. There has been allegations and these allegations are being investigated. There is no script. I can assure you that there is no script.
Let us not speculate. Let’s wait and see whether the allegations are true or not.” The minister also clarified that those raising questions on whether or not the president had power to suspend the affected officials ‘must appreciate the fact that the law setting up the NERC provides that the president appoints the commissioners and could therefore ask them to vacate office.
According to him, it is only when the president wants to terminate the appointment of the commissioners that he would require Senate approval.
The minister who said that the nation’s power generation had fallen to between 3,000 to 3, 200 megawatts admitted that it was a shame for a country of over 140 million to be talking of such low power generation.
He was, however, not forthcoming when asked how long it would take president Yar’Adua to declare emergency in the power sector as he promised, early into his administration.
He said the power sector crisis had lasted a long time due to long term neglect but did not say when the emergency would be declared.
Babalola who did not say how long Mr. Talba would oversee NERC said he would be assisted by Engr. Alex Amakom. |

OGUN CRISIS:’We’re Now Cursed On Phone’—Speaker February 17, 2009 15:07 (8 hours ago), 637 views By Jide Osokoya Lawmakers in Ogun state have either changed their phone numbers or only pick select calls, to avoid being cursed on phone, a development which they said has become disturbing.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS on why most of them refused to pick their calls, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Tunji Egbetokun, said some people have been cursing them (lawmakers) on phone in recent times.
Said the Speaker: “To be sincere with you, our attitude in not picking calls is not out of arrogance, it’s simply a security measure, because some unscrupulous people now curse us on phone and even go to the point of chanting incantations. “It is a shocking development, but that is the gospel truth. Most of them call with unidentified numbers and the moment you pick your phone, they will just rain curses on you. It is sad that Ogun state politics has degenerated to that level.”
P.M.NEWS investigation further revealed that most of the lawmakers now communicate through SMS. They no longer receive calls directly. Some of the lawmakers have even acquired new lines. It was further learnt that most of the strange callers often curse the lawmakers for engaging the state governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, in a political battle of wits.
A source close to the governor’s office, however, blamed the dirty politicking on a particular commissioner in Otunba Daniel’s cabinet, who has been labelled the governor’s ‘hit man.’ He was said to be involved in every scandal that had attracted negative publicity to the Ogun state number one citizen.
