PoliticsRe: 10 Types Of People You See At The Newspaper Stand In The South-east by Jarus(m): 12:31am On Jan 14, 2016
So funny.

greatiyk4u:
TYPES OF PEOPLE YOU SEE AT A NEWSPAPER STAND IN THE SOUTH-EAST

Newspaper stand in this context is referred to an open booth or stand at which newspapers and periodicals are sold. this thread examines an aggregate of the individual views, attitudes, and beliefs about a particular topic, expressed by a significant proportion of a community of newspaper readers.

It is generally believed that people are entitled to their own opinion, but I think some opinions are superior and so should be adopted as a standard....... In most of the stands, people of different characters and background converge to express their opinion about the recent happenings in the country and beyond.. I therefore classify these people according to their preferred topic.

This post is not targeted at any body or tribe in particular and that no one should be perturbed as I have no bad feeling for anybody, it is a product of experience

1.THE BIAFRA SUPORTERS.................the zoo must fall

These are people of varying age brackets who will tell u of how the ZOO will fall before the end of the month. they are so much convinced of Biafra realization that u will hear from them how Russia,America,China,UN have given Buhari ultimatum to let our people goo.......according to them, once Biafra is actualized, there will be perfect peace in the land,no more poverty, unemployment and that any street tout that supports Biafra will be made Army officer..lolz......
u don't dare say anything against Biafra in their presence unless u hate ur life unfortunately none of them has contributed a dine in the account details Provided on radio Biafra for the struggle.....NB, I support Biafra but not through Kanu's strategy.

2.THE ANTI-APC/BUHARI

These group see every APC/Buhari supporter as an enemy of Ndi-igbo, to them anybody supporting APC is in support of islamizing Nigeria....unfortunately, u will hear stories like....Buhari is building an islamic university in Ebonyi state....(No name or address) and that when completed, our pple will be forced to join Islam.."Lolz
Again, they will tell u how Rochas used the whole of Imo state 2015 budget to build the highest MOSQUE in the world...(The person saying this may not have been to Imo state before)

3. THE JOB SEEKER.........

These ones usually come to the stand quitely with their pen and paper to copy addresses and vacancies advertised on the Naija dailies, they pay a token to peruse and give back the paper to the vendors

4. THE MBAKA SUPPORTERS...................

These ones are popularly called "umu ikuku" they come around to check headlines of Adoration news......they brag about how Daddy Mbaka is the only true man of God in the country that hears directly from the Holy Spirit.....hmmmm,
As far as Mbaka loves Buhari, any negative story against Buhari's govt.is a lie that should be discarded.....for real you shouldn't forget "not to touch my annoited and to my prophet do no harm" not minding the fact that the guy has commercialised and politicalized his ministry

5.THE NATIONALISTS.............................

These one are more of refined, educated, enlightened and exposed classes of people who normally comes around to buy newspapers.........they try as much as possible to avoid any discussion that encourages division,of any kind, be it political, tribal, religious and other wise....they diplomatically analyze Nigeria's,political and socio-economic problems and proffer lasting solutions to it...they encourage one Nigeria and may or may not belong to any political party.
Yours truly belongs to this group..........don't doubt me.

6.THE HISTORIANS.............................

These ones are mainly retired and active civil servants and old civilized men.they are very educating in their historical digest. they will tell you the history of Nigeria beyond colonization era, about the origin of bini kingdom and detailed history of Ojukwu,Biafra and other agitators. Some times, their history are not devoid of errors and exaggeration

7. THE POLITICIANS..............................

Just as the name implies, they know all the political calculations of Nigeria, their state and even Local governments know why all the government appointees were chosen and may even predict the next moves of our leaders

8.THE SPORTS ANALYST...................................

The know the history of every foot baller. u hear stories like we started street footballer together with Jay jay Okocha, kanu,Mikel and even Ronaldo just that luck is not by my side....................lolz

9.THE ONLOOKERS
These are group of dumb jobless and lazy persons who mostly come around to learn from these analysts.these analysts in return compound their problems the more with false information

10. Help out.

I was surprised too. I first won award in this section in 2009, that's about 7 years ago. I hardly have time again since I floated my own career blog, JarusHub.

However, the award did not say I need to be active. I made not less than 100 posts in this section in 2015, and I think it's by quality, not necessarily quantity.

Well, I'm not looking for job, and you don't expect me to be posting here on daily basis. Most times, I come here when people tag me or when a thread hit homepage. That is why they called the award motivator/mentor, not regular active poster.

It says on the NL front page that their are 1.5 mil members. I laugh in waffi. It's more like 800k because it is reasonable to assume that almost every member will have two ID's when you keep banning people for lenghthy periods. The best you can do is to edit whatever comments the erring member makes as a MOD and or delete it. I am a regular contributor on Yahoo and i don't think they ban anyone. What you'll find is your post will disappear if they find that it contravenes their rule. I hope you get the message seun.
So if someone keeps making insulting posts, and giving you job of deleting everytime, you won't take punitive measure against the person?

EducationRe: How I Was Scammed Through Admission Runz. (learn From My Story) by Jarus(m): 5:10pm On Jan 09, 2016
MrBen10:
Hear my Story on how i was scammed by 'Poly Tafia', now called 'Tafia Campus Gist' on admission runz...
[A MUST READ]
.*
.*
(Pls be patient and read to the last so that you will not fall victim in the hand of scammers and 419ner)
.*
It was one evening, immediately after buying the morning 'regular' admission form, i called 'Poly Tafia' (now 'Tafia Campus Gist') on phone because he has been a regular poster of accurate news happening in and around Auchi Poly and on all his post he has always ask prospective students/applicants to call him for admission help/assistance.
.*
When i called him, we bargained for HND admission runz cost of 20k and i told him that the admission is not for me but was only helping a friend, So i asked to meet with him so that i can give him the lady's credentials and a half payment But he told me he was in Benin and would not be coming to Auchi till the end of September and he ask me to text the Name, Department and Admission Application Number to his phone number so that he can forward it, which i did.
He also said i should send the money to an account number which he would send later and i promise to send him half of the money in 3days time. He always call me on phone daily reminding me about the money to be sent and this got me skeptical about his authencity but the fact that his news about happenings in campus and within the admin of the school are real, made me have little hope in him.
.*
Fast forward, On the day i was to send the money to him, he sent me a Diamond bank account
(Acct Name: Dada Sunday
Acct No: 0030126755, Diamond Bank)
...and for the second time i doubt his authenticity and called him, i told him that i dnt really beleive he is a student of AuchiPoly or even stays in Auchi because he should have know that there is no Diamond Bank in Auchi Town. He quickly apologies and promise to send me a GTB account but later send in an ECO Bank Account
(Acct No: 4981044889
Acct Name: Osifo Glory, EcoBank...)
.*
... and after which he keep calling every 10mins asking me to pay in the money fast, so that he can withdraw it and send to the man in charge of the admission. .
I had wanted to transfer the money thru ATM but had a second thought of paying it on bank counter inside the bank, so that i can have a 'teller' evidence of payment, which i did.
.*
Two weeks after the screening exam, i called to remind him about the admission stuff and he told me that he is in Lokoja where the admission coalation is being taking place. I doubted him the third time but only prayed to God to make this admission a success. I asked him 'since when did Auchi poly start coalating admission in lokoja', he said that the school doesnt want interference of strong personalities in the admission proccess.
.*
After like a week later he called me, asking me to send the remaining balance of 10k to make it a complete payment of 20k but i told him that the girl who am running the admission for said she will only pay after her name is released in the admission list and he said that he is now in abuja where the list would be sent back to Auchi and her name is going to come out in first batch and he later sent me a picture of 'first batch admission list' which contain the name and other names thru whatsapp BUT the designs/format of the list is not typical to that of Auchi poly and i counter him about it, he gave me an excuse that it has not been arranged and would then be put into Auchi Poly design/format before it will be posted.
.*
He keep calling me on daily basis to pay up the balance but i told him to be patient.
Two days later, the first batch admission list was pasted on the school's board and the name was not there. I called him and he told me that the name will be out in the second batch, this is the guy that swear to his frustrated mother that its already in first batch oh.
.*
The next day another batch was pasted and still the name wasn't there.
.*
After some weeks, he started pastering me for the balance and i shuned him and told him till when the name is out. Later he told me that he has gone to the office incharge and it was a mistake and the name has been inputted and will be out in the next batch, but the man is requesting for the balance.
.*
After many weeks, second batch was posted but without the name and i called him, he refuse picking my calls... This happened for complete three weeks until i called him with a different number and he pick and on hearing my voice he ended the call.
I called him with another different number the next day and i told him if the admission is hard for him, he should let me know so that i can try other channels before it will be too late BUT he promised me that the name will be out in supplimentary list and that he has been having a personal problem that was why he wasnt picking my calls.
.*
Why supplimentary when i paid you even before the screening exam??
He ended the call on me.
.*
Third batch admission list was pasted and since then he refuse picking my calls till even when supplimentary was pasted on the 3rd week of November without the name in it, he refuse picking my calls all through December and block me on facebook and this happened Upto January 5th 2016 when i use another different number to call him and he picked, on hearing my voice he drop the call and never picked again.
.*
After two days, i called with another number and he pick and i told him that since the admission was not successful, when should i be expecting the refund? ...he then told me that even if i report to the police, that the Name, Account Number and even this phone number are all registered with a fake identity and i can never get him, and that i was only a MUGU, He drop the call and also sent me same words in sms.
.*
.*
Two other girls also confided in me that they sent him 30k and 25k respectively and their name wasnt out and he stop picking their calls.
I KNW HE MIGHT HAVE SCAMMED OTHERS WHO ARE SHY TO POST OUT THEIR XPERIENCES WITH HIM.
.*
.*
He has now change his name from 'Poly Tafia' to 'Tafia Campus Gist', and also changed his former phone number of 08104854272, to a new line: 08145797318
.*
.*
.*
This is how a friend lost her admission this year thru me, while i entrusted her admission in the hands of a thief, because he claim to be a saint thru his news updates. .*
I will be paying her the money Dada Sunday (a.k.a Sunnex) duped me but will he ever go freehuh
Hehehe
.*
.*
I have a voice call record of All our conversation from the very first day to the very last day when he even threaten to use his juju on me, i laugh at him cos all our calls are always on recording.
.*
I also have the teller issued to me after payment into his Bank account.
.*
I also have the Fake Admission list he sent to me thru whatsapp and the whatsapp conversation was screenshot too.
.*
The text messages he sent right from the very first day of his Bank account number to the day of the threats sent to me are still in my phone.
.*
.*
.*
.*
This should be an eye opener that the handler of 'Tafia Campus Gist' parading in Uniben facebook group, SUG Interactive Auchi Poly facebook group and other groups is a pure Scammer, 419ner and thief. He only changed his name from 'Poly Tafia' to 'Tafia Campus Gist' so that he can carry out his nifferious activities in groups without limits.
He is a WOLF in Sheep clothing.
.*
All prospective students and students of Auchi Poly, AAU ekpoma, UNIBEN and others Please Beware of him!!!
He is in those group now.
.*
.*
.*
Further investigation shows that some student are the ones sending him happening in and around the school as a means of voicing things happening and he uses the news to gain trust from all students in the group thinking he is the originator so he can dupe those who would rely on him for assistance.
.*
.*
.*
Remember, i have evidences of all my claims, let him come and defend himself here.
.*
All new student of Auchi Poly, UNIBEN, AAU ekpoma and other tertiary Institution should use this my experience as a lesson to learn from.
.*
.*
Constructive criticism are allowed.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Referee Details Or "Available Upon Request"? What's Your Opinion? by Jarus(m): 12:04am On Jan 09, 2016
wroskian:
I feel obliged to do this after some of my friends brought up the issue in the chat room. The essence of this thread is to give room for various opinions, especially from experts in the house who wouldn’t mind educating joblanders. Read on:

References are very important when it comes to job applications. Employers use references provided by referees to clarify some of the claims made on CVs and during interviews which might border on a candidate's skills, experience and personality. While references have been the reason some people got confirmed or promoted, it has also been the nemesis of others; so, it is pertinent to choose referees wisely, because your organization might decide to run a background check on you someday. God help you if your referee happens to be your landlord who you owe 6months house rent.
cheesy cheesy

The question is this: Should referee details be listed on CVs or replaced with “Available upon request?”

There are no hard-and-fast rules when it comes to listing of referees on a CV. Though some people advocate stating “Available upon request,” others feel it is necessary to list them.

On one hand, the contents of a CV, is more important to some top-notch (but not limited to them) organizations. They simply ask successful candidates to provide details of their referees at the documentation stage. Most oil companies, banks, insurance companies, outsourcing firms (e.g. Workforce), Big4 companies, some schools, and so on fall into this category. In fact, some of these companies use online application portals as we all know, and what the applicant tracking system (ATS) software will be looking out for is how an applicant is well suited for a role and not referees, though some do have designated spots for referee details on their application portals which candidates are expected to complete.

On the other hand, some organizations, mostly medium and small-scale businesses would like to see contact details of people who can attest to an applicant’s character from the outset of their recruitment process. But, I don’t think any recruiter would disqualify a suitably qualified candidate for not having referee details on his/her CV if it is not explicitly stated in the job advert. My opinion though.
I once applied in person to an organization, and the first thing the elderly man in charge of recruitment asked me was why I didn’t include details of my referees. As a sharp guy knowing fully well he knows nothing about HR, I confidently told him it was the latest in the art of CV writing cheesy and also added that my referees prefer their details be submitted separately for reasons best known to them wink . The man bought this, and I was later invited for a chat. This might not happen in all cases.

Therefore, while some organizations won’t bother about referees at the point of application, others might not overlook it. I think this also depends on HR policy in different organizations. The onus lies at the doorstep of applicants to analyze their prospective employers in order to figure out the category which they belong and do the needful. However, I will suggest referees be included on an applicant’s CV, especially for entry level jobs ONLY if there’s adequate space for it after including necessary details, if otherwise, simply put “Available upon Request”.
In other words, do not leave out vital relevant details about yourself in the name of listing referees. This is my submission.

The floor is now open for discussion, what is your take on this issue?
Experts in the house, please bare your minds.

I agree with you.

Pro
1, Sentiment factor - You may be lucky that the recruiter knows someone from your referees list or impressed by the personalities.

Cons
1, Waste of space
2, Revealing people's private info
3, It hardly determines whether you will be hired.

I'm generally inclined to not putting it, eexcept expressly instructed in the advert.

I know Nairalanders here who are not celebrity but who can easily pull that off.

1.1 CAF Player of the Year:

this is the key award for the night with

a) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

b) André Ayew

c) Yaya Toure
Aubameyang my choice, but Ayew did well for Ghana in AFCON 2015 leading them to final. CIV won AFCON but Yaya didn't have an exactly great tournament.

Aubameyang remains my choice.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: 3 Years On, Boy Reminds GTB Of Their Job Promise by Jarus(m): 5:02pm On Jan 06, 2016
1, I like corporate organizations that engage in personalized interactions with people (customers, etc). GTB is doing a good job of this, as I also once resolved an issue with GTB via twitter.

2, The guy made a bold move. And I like GTB's response too. However, that is how far GTB can go. He still has to go through the process like every other person. If he doesn't meet their recruitment criteria or doesn't pass their tests/interview, this may not help much.

3, The person in charge of GTB twitter is likely a young, lower level officer who likely doesn't have the power to hire.
