That was why I appear to support Adebayor's mother, rather than him, during the whole fiasco around his family. I honestly dont think there can be anything my mum can do to me to make me disown or forget her. |

ephi123: I have noticed this among Nigerians (even outside Nigeria) whilst in contrast I have never seen any (non-Nigerian) colleague taking their families along on a work-sponsored trip rather they take leave days and plan a proper family holiday typically during the summer. Is there a particular reason Nigerians try to do this? i.e. take the family along for a work-trip? Is it to save costs or what, I really don't get it. Why be on a working holiday trip when you can have a proper holiday.
Secondly, during work trips, evenings are usually to network and have dinner with colleagues based in that location, would you take the family along for such? Simple: cost saving. But in addition, personally, I dont like traveling alone. It's boring. |

MY OWN 1 THING I DIDN'T KNOW
1, Alexa Rating my foot - We rank so high on Alexa. Interestingly, it appears to be the more traffic we get, the higher we rank on Alexa. When we were having 500 views per day early last year, we ranked between 300k-500k in Alexa rating, now that we record between 1200-1500 views per day, we rank higher, between 700k-800k on Alexa. I was highly concerned about the Alexa ranking then. Now, I don't care again. Despite poor Alexa ranking, we made more revenue than those that ranked far better on Alexa. |

jaybee3: I think some oil companies accommodate family travels as part of their perks.
You do need to confirm though but the dude if true was sacked for making fraudulent claims (He claimed for cost of taxis and whatnot even though he never actually paid for any) Executives enjoy those perks here. And in this period of falling-crude-price-induced-austerity, even the execs will not enjoy that for now. |

This post reads like a prophesy.
I work in an oil company.
I have a training in one European country in 0ctober.
My Group Head will also be coming from our UK office.
I plan to go with my wife and kids.
I have never given a thought whether it will involve extra costs for my company.
Now that I read this, I have to run it by my travels department to be sure I don't run foul of any company policy.
But I know there will be nothing wrong in taking your family along for training, provided no extra cost to the company. |

I dont know whether this has been mentioned earlier in this thread, but there is no big deal in Dasuki owning this mansion. This guy is from a wealthy family. His father, Ibrahim, was one of the richest Men before he even became emir.
His brother, Ahmed, is even richer. He sat on the board of many companies for many years. He was on board IBTC and a number of other companies.
I'm not saying he may not have stolen money, but this mansion is not a proof at all. |

A friend got NNPC entry level offer in 2012. He turned it down. He was offered 4m total gross package per annum. He was earning around same amount in Oando, so he decided to stay with Oando because of better growth opportunity. |

Great. Tolu is a great guy. I have had cause to interact with him. He's probably the most brilliant under-35 columnist in Nigeria, in my opinion.
Confession: I lobbied for this position. I talked to Femi Adesina, a senior friend on a first name level, that I won't mind handling their Social Media for them when I realised Garba Shehu and Femi were not so social media savvy. I still have records of our conversation.
I have a feeling a feeling my name was among the suggested names for this position, but Tolu will beat anybody. Tolu is a great guy that has the mien , temperament and knowledge to handle the job better. His level-headedness is another bonus. Tolu doesnt come across as someone that will play a Wendel Simlin. He has a name to protect as a CNN award winning journalist.
I wish him all the best. He is the best man for the job. |

Romance › Re: Ladies STOP Selecting Men, Based On Where They Work. by Jarus(m): 7:35pm On Jul 14, 2015 |
ashmanpolo: Some Corpers around my area passed out like two weeks back so I was at one of my Favourite Pool side, chilling out that day. I started conversing with one of the Corpers. The first thing she asked me was, "where do you work?" see Jamb question.
Firstly, I wasn't even thinking of wooing this bae cos she got a bracelet on her left leg and that's a huge turn-off for me.
I told her I was an applicant, still job-hunting. Next thing this girl started advising me to focus on my job-hunting and stop toasting girls. That she's not in for jobless guys like me for now. I just taya. Okay I told her to give me her number to at least get more counselling, "for where?" The girl messed me up 'jakajaka'
This morning, I saw her in front of our company gate, a popular Oil and Gas firm. She was holding a CV and she was so wowed. She was like "what are you doing here?" I work here "Jesus, for how long now?" Seven years. "But...." I didn't allow her continue the questions as a driver came in front of me and I entered the Toyota Hilux. She ran up to me and I think I heard: "Please give me your number"
The story looks made up, I must confess. Reasons: 1, People hardly go around in hard copy CVs again, especially for an oil company. 2, The co-incidences appear too precise to be true. But it is not impossible it is true. However, the substance is not lost. It is very annoying when ladies think you want to toast them at every talk initiation. I get irritated at that habit. Not everyone that initiates talk with you is toasting. |

Seun: What if they decide that, if the media is to blame for the misperception of the president, then the solution is to gag the media? I hope not. Gagging the media will lead to further image crisis. I'm sure they've learnt that. The best is to perform and give no room for suspicion. Fashola is a good example of good press arising from performance. Fashola had very high media rating, to the extent that he may not have needed PR people again. |

Politics › Re: Memo To President Buhari On Media Perception by Jarus(op): 12:06am On Jul 14, 2015 |
BIGERBOY1: If I get the theme of your article correctly it infers the president's appointment being loopsided. That I believe is a wrong and hasty conclusion given the fact that this is just less than ten out of hundreds or thousands of appointment.
If you had blamed the presidency of being slow then that would have been though inappropriate, but a seeming argument. Inappropriate in the sense that we are so used to crash solution and grand standings in our polity that we don't appreciate careful, strategic and meticulous planing before actions (argue as much s you want that he had over a decade to prepare, but he was no more informed than you and I on the state of he nation, now he is inside, its a whole new ball game).
Given the state of our print media doubling as rumour mills/tabloids (perhaps due to the fluidity and fast nature news evolves), the president's attitude towards the media isn't bad, because this will help bring sanity and thoroughness in reporting (at least we are no more fed week in week out with 'ministers to be named next week' news which always turns out to be baseless rumours) Personally, I don't have any problem with the appointments, but 90% of Nigerians do. All we are saying is perception matters. We all know what we went through to "rebrand" him after of misperception, which unfortunately is buidling up again. |
