koboko69:The bigger suprise, to me, was seeing a WW declare a SR story as "truth". Thought SR is an APC medium according to them. |
OP, you chose the SR report and declared the PT one as "APC-sponsored". I thought you guys say SR is the APC outfit? So you believe SR on this one, but you wont if the news doesn't favour your political camp. |
Thought some Jonathanian people said SR are pro-Buhari, pro-Tinubu? I keep saying SR are just one anti-bad governance, anti-bad politicians platform. They don't care about who the President is. |

Teaching, especially in a public school. Running shop (selling groceries etc) not far from home. |
STEVENcrack:I agree with you. HND holders should be allowed to prove their mettle too. |
STEVENcrack:I agree the best HND holders can hold their own against the best Bsc holders. But not sure about that if we look at average. And your copious use of "so-called Bsc" in the comment makes one wonder if this is not about bitterness than proving a point. |
OP, you work in a firm or business centre? Obviously a business center, from the letter. As a business center owner, I may consider him. This is not a white collar job. I don't expect a flawless letter of employment application from an O'level holder (most likely from public school - someone that went to private school is not likely to apply fopr job after O'level). If he has some other skills, and if the job doesn't involve writing to external people, I will consider him. I particularly like his boldness. |
Looks better than what I saw when I last used the airport 5 years ago, but anybody who has seen airports in other climes will not use beautiful for any Nigerian airport. |
I also buried my Dad 24 hours ago. May Allah grant him aljannah. |
I hope these are not Patience Jonathan's loyalists finding a platform to fight Dickson. |
tk4rd:If I had exact details, I would be glad to share. I ran the mock based on general knowledge of how AC works, not on specific NLNG. In other words, we used general template. The AC ran for like 2 months and even the 'secrecy' thing affected me too. None of my candidates disclosed anything to me until after the whole batches had completed. A couple gave general feedback. No one was specific. And of course, I respected their decision. They are adults and this was a business relationship, I can't force them. So we ran the general template throughout and good to hear now that the "secrecy" period is over that it was helpful, especially for group discussion and confidence/familiarity building. |
Let me a real life example. My company, an oil and gas company, recetly engaged KPMG and PwC to advise us on an issue. Same facts, same situations, etc. KPMG advised, after analysing the case, that we should do X. PwC advised we should do Y, the opposite. These are world class consultants, with consultants that have probably more than 20 years experience, spanning many countries. Yet, they both presented like 5-page analysis of why we should do X and Y. They were paid thousands of dollars to advice us on that decision. Yet, different perspectives. That happened in my company like 2 years ago. That's a real life business. I tend to believe fact-finding doesnt have one single right answer. There may be 'more right' but you can actually defend a 'less right' and still perform better. My advice is, go for the one you will be able to justify more. Be prepared to defend loopholes in it. Every choice will always have cons. |
In 1970, he was 9. This pic doesn't look like that of a 9 year old. This doesn't look like a 1970 pic. |
NanaF:Good to hear that our mock assessment center was helpful to you. Don't forget to pay tithe to JarusHub ministry when NLNG begins to spoil you with gas money ![]() |
This is rubbish. What's offensive in that passage? |
uanda:So you mean "under water excape training" was guarantee that they would survive? |

I lived in that hall for 5 years. |
CHESSBOARD:The same way you threatened to set Nigeria on fire if he lost. |
funmilade4real:Therein lies the problem, which looks like you. First Class doesn't land anyone automatic job. Part of defending one's degree is acing interview, which, by your account, they don't end well. KPMG, PwC, EY, Deloitte, Accenture, banks etc recruit every now and then, they don't require any experience. |
jamanuka:The top 3 consulting firms in the world are: 1, Bain & Company 2, McKinsey & co 3, Boston Consulting Group They are usually called the Top 3. KPMG, EY, Deloitte and Ernst & Young, together called the Big 4, are great too, but they rank below these 3 giants in consulting. However, unlike these 3, they're into other things (taxation, accounting, auditing etc), they are called professional services firms. So, in professional services, they're the Big 4. But in consulting, they come below these Top 3. Here is the list of Top 10 Consulting firms in the world in 2015, according to Vault.com, a highly regarded US website 1, Bain & Company 2, McKinsey & Company 3, The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. 4, Strategy&, part of the PwC network (formerly Booz & Company) 5, Deloitte Consulting LLP 6, PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) LLP (Consulting Practice) 7, The Brattle Group 8, Oliver Wyman 9, The Cambridge Group 10, Accenture There you have it. The most conspicuous absence, at least as far as a Nigerian is concerned, is KPMG. Well, they rated KPMG Consulting practice 18th. http://www.jarushub.com/top-10-consulting-firms-in-the-us-2015/ |
It's a stunner. The guy behind the twitter handle should be commended. He's done a good job. It generated the publicity he sought. |
GrammarNazi:Send me a PM. If you're less than 26, let me see if I can pass your CV around. |
GrammarNazi:First, I concede things are tighter now compared to our era (pre-economic meltdown of 2009) when banks, investment institutions and many other companies recruited on weekly basis. I graduated October 2006 with First Class honours and by December, even before my convocation, before NYSC, I had two offers, StanbicIBTC and Vetiva, and at various stages of KPMG and UAC, and turned down test invites from Accenture. And I didn't even bother to apply to banks, only StanbicIBTC - where my CV was submitted by someone else. Many of my classmates were being aborbed by banks in probbaly worst clase scenario. My classmates littered investment firms like BGL, Merristem, Vetiva, UBA Capital, PHB Capital etc. By the time we finished NYSC in 2008, it still hadn't got so bad. I got Oando two weeks after NYSC and didn't show up at the final stage of Shell. Surplus as jobs appeared to be in the period I talked about, it doesn't mean that we sat at home and expected the jobs to come and meet us. We used all things within our disposal Information and networking were especially critical. Less than half of these jobs were advertised. Of all the companies which recruitment I underwent from the foregoing paragraphs, only UAC and Shell were advertised. Others were by passing CVs around to someone that worked there or friends of someone that worked there. This is where information is key. You don't sit down and expect job to come and meet you, even if you have first class from Harvard. You need to hustle, you need to do unconventional things, you need to network, you need to do daring things. I once saw the email address of the CEO of a multinational consulting firm in newspaper and politely sent an email to her, praising her company and asking for opportunity to be invited for their test. She acknowlegded the email and said she had passed to her HR. Job hunting is hustle. Talk to people. Dont be shy. I have countless stories to tell, of myself anf friends, but let me stop here. And by the way, how old are you? Have yyou written the tests of KPMG, PwC, etc? How did you fare in the tests of companies you have written in the last 2 years? I dont want to believe you have not written any test. First class is a great opportunity if well used. It was highly helpful to me. |
This is a routine practice. |
Kayydon007:Not everyone is driven by personal returns. She may not have done it for those returns (position, fame etc) that you mentioned. Some people make personal sacrifices for collective gains. |

She tried, but many of us did similar things. I did, maybe the only difference is I didnt give up my own work. WHAT I ALSO DID 2011 I coordinated a team on Nairaland to raise circa 700k to do radio jingle for Buhari. During break time in office, I rushed to radio stations (ok, cool fm that was close to my office then) to seal adverts for Buhari. For others, I spoke with their agents on phone. Our adverts ran in 5 radio stations across 4 states: Lagos, Oyo, Osun and Rivers. I did a pamphlet at my cost and was distributing in buses in Lagos. Someone I met on Nairaland came to my office to drop 20 Buhari shirts. I distributed among boys in my neighbourhood. Anywhere I went I was talking about Buhari. I sent sms to almost on contacts on my phone at my cost. I wrote not less than 15 articles published in Punch, Guardian, Tribune, Thisday etc to sell Buhari candidacy. Remember Buhari wasn't this popular in the South then. 2015 I spent circa 100k from my pocket to sponsor local radio jingle in Kwara radio stations focusing my senatorial district, Kwara South. Buhari had become popular in Lagos then, so I didnt pay attention to Lagos. I took on FFK in a popular, strong-worded article, "Fani-Kayode's Flurry of Fictions", published in several newspapers. That article almost cost me my job as my employers saw it in BusinessDay and cautioned me. I championed the exposure of Fani Kayode's alteration of the Cambridge response to my friend, Sodiq Alabi's inquiry on Buhari's certificate. That my expose was the headline story in The Nation the next day "Blogger accuses Fani-Kayode of forging email". That was a risk to my life. I went out on election day to mobilize okada riders to go vote. I visited newspaper stands almost every Saturday to go reduce the effect of the misinformation about Buhari being spread by thick-voiced people. I alerted APC chieftains, including el-Rufai, when I got a distress call from a Buharist friend in Akwa Ibom on mass rigging going on there on election day. I talked to Okada riders and taxi drivers almost everyday. |
Daninya11:The LG was not named after him, he was "named" after the town. Except you want to say Kano is named after Aminu Kano. |
Poverty. Dangote that can buy all of them will not throw money into swimming pool. |
saint047:Don't be ignorant. SR had been on Tinubu's case too in the past. The fact that they are on Saraki's case now does not mean they are defending Tinubu. |
