Christianity Etc › Re: Are There Additional Benefits Attached To Midnight Prayer? by Jarus(m):
What is usually interpreted as prayers in English has two types in Islam -

1, Salat (compulsory) and nawafil (voluntary but meritorious). These are what you see us do, the body gesticulations. We have 5 compulsory prayers/salats; first early morning, second early afternoon, third late afternoon, fourth immediately after sunset and last when twilight disappears. These are, strictly speaking, not prayers in the sense Christians, for example, see prayers. It is perhaps better translated as worship. This has nothing to do with midnight. The voluntary ones (nawafil) are however more encouraged in the midnight, especially late midnight. Yes, this attracts more benefits because it takes sincerity, endurance to stay awake at that time (deny yourself enjoyable sleep) and worship Someone you don't see. It is highly rewarding.

2, Prayers (supplication, dua in arabic, adua in Yoruba)I.e asking God for something. This translation into prayers is the sense I guess the poster meant. Well, prayer can actually be said and answered anytime, but again, in Islam, late midnight is another special time for it. In fact, there is a hadith(saying of Prophet Muhammad PBUH) that at the third part of the night, the angels come down to the nearest heaven, and ask 'who among the servants of God is awake and supplicating, so he can be answered (words to that effect, can't quote verbatim)'. So again, midnight is a special time to supplicate in Islam.

Beyond that, we all know it is easier to concentrate and have full presence of mind in the midnight.

I'm not moved by evangelism based on lies.

Same storyline, February 2012: https://www.nairaland.com/863111/confession-boko-haram-member-turned

Earlier, there was another cooked story of a Kuwaiti prince turned Christian.

I only pity people that fall for this kind of BS, which a primary 3 pupil should even be able to spot.

RedBenson: Due to when i joined Nairaland, my first encounter with this kind of charity was for ojb. Therefore, pls i have a question below.

Does this kind of wonderful way of raising fund to help the needy cover every nuck (not sure of the spelling) and cranny of Nigeria and beyond or is it just because Ibadan and Lagos (folake and ojb respectively) are very closed to Otta (Ogun state) which is the headquarter of Nairaland? Why am asking this is because the story posted says that 'Mund-44' and 'Tgirl' went to see the lady themselves. If the needy was in Aba, Abia state, would they still travel down to see her with thier eyes so as to call for donations?

Thanks for sincere answer.

God bless all the donors and grant the receiver safe medical journey!
We'd been to Benin and Port Harcourt in the past.

We can help anywhere within Nigeria by God's grace once we have the resources and the matter gets to our attention.

Two, I don't believe this story yet. In fact I can bet that it is cooked up by his familiar enemies. I seriously doubt SLS will donate to political parties. The truth will be opened in few days.

I'm off to ask him personally sef.

only someone who havent gone through that bas.tar.d virus will take it for granted.
You had acute, not chronic. Acute shows serious symptoms and can kill within days, but the good thing is if treated, that's all. Acute either kills within few days or most times gets healed. Just like serious typhoid.

Chronic doesn't have a cure yet and chance of clearing it is very low. Chronic hardly has any symptoms but slowly progresses over years to damage the liver. Chornic doesn't get cured in few days, you had acute, not chronic.
Health › Re: Hepatitis-B Kills Faster Than AIDS by Jarus(m): 12:38pm On Aug 04, 2013
He said Hepatitis B, which is said to be 10 times more infectious than HIV/AIDS, could stay in the human body for up to 40 years before manifesting.
Contradiction.

If something could stay for 40 years without manifesting, how does it kill faster? Can HIV stay for 40 years without manifesting?

It is ony more infectious (spreads to other people faster) it is neither as dangerous as HIV nor as deadly. It is more common only because it spreads faster. If HIV was as common as Hepatitis, then then that would have been greater danger.

Knowing someone infected, read about it.
Romance › Re: How Did You Meet Your Current Spouse or Partner? by Jarus(m): 9:02pm On Aug 03, 2013
Quite interesting. It was month-end and as accountants we needed to close our books. That Friday, I and my boss couldn't finish our tasks and it was 5pm closing time. I knew if I went to him to tell him I was leaving he won't release me. Meanwhile I had booked 6:30pm flight to Ilorin to meet this lady I was speaking to(we met during sallah at a wedding couple of months back). I knew I can't afford not to go to Ilorin that evening, yet here I was with my boss battling some reconciliation.

I risked my job - didn't shut down my system as if I had just gone to the convenience, told one of my colleagues to help me shut down the system when he was leaving by 7pm, switched off my phone (so my boss' calls won't go thru), sneaked to the elevator, and found myself downstairs. It was rush hour and I dared not drive to Ikeja airport, else I would miss my flight, left my car at car park, hopped on bike from Vi, through 3rd mainland bridge, to MMIA Ikeja. I got there 6:30pm on thedot even though the flight did not take off until 7:30pm. Got to Ilorin 8:30. Set out to see her next morning and her attitude put me off; for someone I risked my life (bike on 3rd mainland bridge) and job (awol from office at critical period) for.

Vexed, I I returned to Ilorin airport enroute Lagos. Missed my flight. So I decided to do road, Ilorin to Offa (my home town) and Offa-Lagos next day (Sunday). It was inside the public transport I boarded from Ilorin-Offa that I met another lady. She is my wife today.

Islam › Message On A Cancer Patient For The NL Jamaah by Jarus(op): 8:57pm On Aug 02, 2013
Salam alaekum waramatullahi wabarakatuhu,
Ramadan kareem.
I have been your keen follower here on NL and I'm always delighted on the ways you handle issues raised on the deen as well as on other secular issues. May Allah (SWT) increase ur Rahama & ur wealth of wisdom.Amin.

Please brother, ur urgent assistance is highly needed in mobilising fund for a cancer patient that I believe her case can still be redeemed if we all can come to her aid. Kindly permit me to give some details on this.

The patient concerned is a mother to a close friend of mine who is currently studying out of the country on scholarship. Some few months ago, my friend broke the news of his mother ailment to me, begging me to help out with money @ a point for the sundry medical fees which I have been tryin in my capacity to do. But lately, more money is being required for radiotherapy among many other medical expenses before the problem gets out of hand.(I was told a single session of the radiotherapy would cost N200,000 in UCH)

This is why I am using this medium to call on you to assist with ways in which we can raise funds either from the Ummah on dis forum or elsewhere especially @ this period of Ramadan.

Kindly note dat we are ready to provide proofs including medical reports etc which might be needed to faclititate the fund raising. I might not be the person to answer all questions regarding to the present state of health of this woman, but her daughter would be.

Pls you can get back to me on vet707vet@gmail.com for further info.

I'm earnestly waiting for a response from you.

Ma salam.
