I still believe we can pull this off.

Can we have 2 voluntary nominees for each side of the debate who are ready to marshal their points civilly?

No insults, present facts why you think or don't think there is deliberate attempt to sideline Igbo race in the scheme of things in Nigeria.

This is a topic that I am also interested in, willing to hear views from each side.

There would be no judges for obvious reasons. We wont declare winner, we will leave audience to reach personal conclusion based on which of the sides of the arguments they consider superior.

felifeli: Bloody a.s.s becomes ex-CBN governor next year. Headed for politics definitely and probably thinks he can take a shot at President by making sentimental statements which appeal to the hearts of the simpleminded . He is one of Nigeria's biggest problems. An insincere doublefaced t.wa.t.
It takes a fool to think someone eyeing presidency will call for sack of 50% of public workforce. SLS has no presidential ambition, not even interested in second term as CBN boss.

OAM4J: Ordinarily there is nothing wrong with the topic and it is a subject worth debating, if only we can get participants who will debate on facts and not from biased and sentimental views.

If there are people who are ready to do real justice to the topic, I will say lets do it. Majority here are adults, so we can do it.

My personal opinion.
Am with you

Politics › Re: Federal Character Breeds Mediocrity - Sanusi by Jarus(m): 2:11pm On Dec 06, 2012
Tony Spike: Tell me, was Sanusi the best the nation had when he was appointed? Wasn't he appointed due to the influence of Late President Umaru Ya'radua, a Northerner like himself? Someone should please tell me that I'm wrong...
What influence? But Obasanjo did not appoint Soludo, a fellow southerner.

He may not be Nigeria's no 1 economic brain, but it is hardly possible to point to one person as most qualified. So once you pick someone from a pool of qualified folks, that's merit enough. Even if Sanusi was a southerner, as the GMD of the largest financial group in Nigeria, his name could still have come up as qualified contender. After all, a southerner, Joseph Sanusi, became CBN governor from the same First Bank's CEOship seat. So what are we saying. Na beans to become GMD of FBN.
Politics › Re: Federal Character Breeds Mediocrity - Sanusi by Jarus(m): 2:02pm On Dec 06, 2012
gregtochi: True, Federal character breeds Mediocrity, but not only in the executive arm of government, but all department and parastatals including the armed forces. SLS should not forget that it was introduced because of the north and he and his kinsmen has benefited the most. BTW, why is he suddenly aware of all these problemhuh Just asking.
He has always said it.
Should I bring out out an article where he said same far back 1998?
Politics › Re: NL Monthly Political Debate by Jarus(op): 1:29pm On Dec 06, 2012

Politics › Re: Federal Character Breeds Mediocrity - Sanusi by Jarus(m): 12:07pm On Dec 06, 2012
abbakacici: Quata system and federal character would be 90 scrap from the constitutions because I don't see the reason why a Igbo guys that studied HND biology will employed at CBN,NDIC or IFRS leaving a yaruba with master in finance and may be ICAN CFA just because the number of IGBOs in dat organization are not much or a Hausa that studied BA Hausa will employed in nnpc just because of quata system and federal character leaving thousands of master degree in petroleum management or engineer holder from other zone. The only time federal chracter should be used is from a person from example from kano and edo have the same qualification and they have similar marks in test and interview and edo state has none or little people working in that organasation as compare to kano then the person from edo should employed
Even if Federal Character is scrapped and merit is enthroned, with this your English, I'm afraid even merit will not be able to help people like you.
Politics › Re: Federal Character Breeds Mediocrity - Sanusi by Jarus(m): 12:04pm On Dec 06, 2012
Some of us that know Sanusi are not surprised. He has always been a 'rebel'. He has always been outspoken, he has always found it diificult to keep quiet when he sees something going wrong(it was his speaking out against fellow Bank CEO, Akingbola's unwholesome bank practices early 2009 that was termed 'demarketing' campaign then).

It is this man's nature. He is a man of strong convictions; he fought Kano state governor in 2003 that led to the withdrawal of state funds from Sanusi's UBA then(see his article 'Kano State Government and Ajo No Moto Economics' 2003). Right from his days in the private sector, he has always spoken his mind on political issues. He may not be right all the time, but he doesnt leave anyone in doubt about where he stands.

Mavrick2012: If only dis funny mallam wil apreciate dat dis "federal character" was fashiond by n 4 his fellow ilitrate northerners who wil lag behind if goin by merit
This is my problem with some of us from the lower part of the Niger. Even people that can barely spell their names come here to tell us someone is illiterate, and that they are more educated than the northerners simply because they are southerners. Some people are still in slumber.

Hypocrite!
Lie from hell. It's not possible. Plus the SLS I know in private will never do this! Believe it or not.

She is obviously having sex with Jinn. It's a very common phenomenon. It is even called oko oru (midnight husband) in Yorubaland

tbaba1234: I don't think anyone has spoken about this yet so i will address it.

Some people have problems when making wudu, they forget whether they have washed a part of their body and restart their wudu multiple times. For some people, it is really bad that the bathroom looks like a pool by the time they are done.

It used to happen to me until i learnt the dua one says before entering the bathroom then it stopped.

It is usually as a result of the whispers of the shayatin (evil Jinn). Some are worse than others.

Dua for Entering the bathroom

Bismillahi Allaahumma 'Inne 'A'oodhubika minal-khutbi walkhabaa'ith

(In the name of Allah) Oh Allah,, I seek protection in you from all evil and evil-doers

(Source: Al bukhari 1/45, Muslim 1/283)

Duaa for leaving the bathroom

Ghufraanaka

I seek your forgiveness

(Source: Abu dawud,Ibn Majah, At-tirmidhi)
Yeah, same dua applies to entering and exiting toilets. Plus you enter with left leg first and come out with right leg first.

OAM4J: Check her ban log again, she has not been banned since NL2 according to her ban log, not even by spambot-pyguru. I only remember she was banned many times last year and not this year.
I had technical challenge accessing her ban log but I thought I remember her being banned this year. I was wrong.

Desola's nomination is valid. I will update accordingly soon.

Anyone else saying hi (abi na I) to this:

DECEMBER SPECIAL EDITION OF NAIRALAND DIALOGUE: EL-CLASSICO

TITLE:
"There is a systemic and deeply entrenched effort in Nigeria to marginalise Igbos from real political power. True or false. "

TEAM TRUE: Onlytruth, PointB, Dede1
TEAM FALSE: Dayokanu, Katsumoto, Desola

Issue may however arise from selection of judges, since everyone has a pre-held belief about this. Or should we make it a no-judges dialogue, just choose someone to moderate?
