Morayo747: Your objective is too brief. Nothing on your CV says exactly what sort of roles you are looking for. As an IT professional myself I can see you in some sort of IT support role... Change the section where it says "Objective" to "Personal Profile or Statement" and put something like this

"A test analyst with over 8 years testing experience. ISEB qualified; meticulous and thorough functional, integration and content testing abilities. Skills covering all aspects of system development and the testing life cycle, from specification through to delivery and commercial launch. Highly organised, versatile and results-oriented team player with an energetic and articulate approach to testing. Highly exposed to both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and also been involved with a lot of risk-based testing. Ability to acquire new skills within short time scales, adapt to rapidly changing work practices ,build and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues. I also have excellent stakeholder management skills."

Good luck.
Guys, candidly, all these are secondary to CLASS OF DEGREE. I don't put all the English Grammar called objective/profile statements etc on my CV and I always get called for interviews(and tests, when I was entry level).

How would someone, an entry level applicant for that matter, not put his Class of degree?

Omission of class of degree is the missing link.
Politics › Re: Politics Section Poster Of The Year 2012 - Katz, Gbawe & Naptu are finalists by Jarus(op): 5:29pm On Dec 03, 2012
PointB: I think I have made my point. And that is: despite his posturing, Jarus has designed this Poster of the year award to favour his candidates, the people he likes.
And I have also been vindicated in my assertion that Jarus would prefer to ban those who ask him hard question rather than offer logical explanations, if that is not bigotry in action I wonder what then.

So oga Jarus, go ahead and crown saint Gbawe as already, there is no need for formality. What a charade!
Thank God the ban-rule is a forum-wide rule, applicable to all sections, not Jarus' design.

I don't get that. Could you expatiate?
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Is It Me? My CV? Or Am I Just Plain Unlucky? by Jarus(m): 5:13pm On Dec 03, 2012
You didn't put your class of degree on your CV. That's the reason.

Class of degree is one of the first criteria used in shortlisting. With hundreds or even thousands of CV in front of teh recruiter, it is easy to set yours aside. Nobody has time to call you to ask what you graduated with.

deols: This is probably my last thread on this forum kiss and yh! this was about me, again!

I wish people would say whatever they have in mind but I can bet many would not. There has to be a reason for that. Maybe not being blunt is Islamic huh
What exactly is happening? Is there a story behind this thread I'm missing?
Islam › Re: Does Being Cool Make You A Better Muslim? by Jarus(m): 4:14pm On Dec 03, 2012
tbaba1234: What does going in for the kill mean exactly?

As Muslims we argue with the best of manners with other Muslims. Remember we are not trying to be right,we are trying to get the truth.

If your goal when arguing with a Muslim is to get the truth then there is no need to lose your cool.

I remember watching a debate between two scholars, it reminded of why we are supposed to be the best nation raised for humanity. You could see that it wasn't about being correct, it was about what is the truth.

Sometimes we argue just to boost our egos, it becomes an ego contest, this is a big problem islamically. You might feel great to win a debate of egos but did you walk away with truth or just an inflated ego.

Religious discussions are not challenges. They are a quest for truth and if anotherhas better evidences,we accept them.

I remember a saying by imam shafi where he said that he gets into religious debates hoping he is wrong so that he can learn. (I will look for the exact quote later in sha Allah).

I do not know if this addresses the topic but I hope it is of benefit. And Allah knows best.
Nice one, Tbaba.

Etched on marble.

How far can Naptu sustain the initial endorsements? Will he make it to final ballot(election proper)?

-He must be a public figure or political personality or suddenly made a public figure by events
-His wrong or bad doing must have been discussed on Nairaland Politics Section here
-The outstanding/shameful act must have been done in 2012. So pls don't tell us you are nominating IBB because he kiled Dele Giwa or you are nominating Nuhu Ribadu because he arrested Tafa Balogun.
-No arbitrariness please. Tell us what he/she did to deserve the nomination and back up with link or past thread.

STAGE 1: Nomination (3-17 December, 2012)
STAGE 2: Voting for the top 3 nominated (17-31 December, 2012)

Please let's bolden our nominations for ease of compiling.

Start nominating.
Politics › 3rd Annual Politics Section Hall Of Fame/Shame by Jarus(op): 3:33pm On Dec 03, 2012
To all our respected contributors and guests,

In 2010, we introduced NAIRALAND POLITICS SECTION HALL OF FAME/SHAME, which we believe is a way of acknowledging Nigerian public personalities that have made their marks in the year under consideration, as well as naming those that bring their names or our nation into odisrepute in the given year.

In 2010, we inducted MR SANUSI LAMIDO SANUSI into our HALL OF FAME, basically for boldly exposing, and standing by same, the proportion of our national wealth going into the servicing of National Assembly: https://www.nairaland.com/565376/nairaland-politics-section-hall-fame/1#7353190

For the HALL OF SHAME 2010, the famed CABAL clinched the unenviable slot, for holding the whole country to ransom when ailing President Yar'adua was away: https://www.nairaland.com/570036/nairalands-politics-sections-hall-shame

In 2011, the SLAIN CORPERS, who were cut down in their prime for offering to assist INEC in the conduct of that year's elections were inducted by Nairalanders into our HALL OF FAME https://www.nairaland.com/825602/slain-corpers-inducted-into-nairaland

Same year, PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN was inducted into the SHAME BOOK, for a turbulent start into his four years campaign, signposted by fuel subsidy conundrum, insecurity etc: https://www.nairaland.com/825604/gej-inducted-into-nairaland-politics

Now, it's 2012, who enters our FAME/SHAME book?

PointB: Inciting tribal sentiment. I guess it's post like that that got me the ban in the first place. I see.
How about the saying that "once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." If I there is not solid ground, is ethnicity not adequate a reason for it? What is that crap about Mukina2 not be a Nigerian for? Is a woman married to a Nigerian not a Nigerian? Guy be real.
LOL

Na you give Mukina Nigerian husband? grin cheesy
Politics › Re: Politics Section Poster Of The Year 2012 - Katz, Gbawe & Naptu are finalists by Jarus(op): 1:29pm On Dec 03, 2012
PointB: If I am not mistaking, Jarus banned me for querying his rationale in the selection of coogar, a foul-mouthed vulgar poster, ahead more level headed individuals in his selection of Judges for his Political Debate thread. To deal with my constant protestation against his ill advised call, he decided to issue me a ban.

As for Mukina2, ban. Frankly I am yet to be told what I was banned for, or why? I only know when based on what Jarus said. I am still waiting for Jarus or Mukina2 to show me which post I was banned for in March and perhaps why. Until then, I will simply chuck down as part of the conspiracy of favoritism. The same kind of conspiracy that get anti-Igbo thread on frontpage, while a particular ethnic group is shielded.
See your file:

Jarus banned PointB from Politics for Breaking express rule - criticizing with hate/strong words. at October 12, 2012 at 12:07:59 PM. Ban expired at October 12, 2012 at 05:07:59 PM
mukina2 banned PointB from Politics for trying to incite a tribal cussfess at March 27, 2012 at 04:50:15 PM. Ban expired at April 01, 2012 at 04:50:15 PM
We don't have anything to gain from banning anybody just for the sake of it. You must have done something.

And please stop inciting tribal sentiments, Mukina2 and I are the least concerned about where anybody comes from in our activities here. Mukina2 is not even a Nigerian.

Jarus: Hmmnnnnn, last year which was thrown open was more fun and very keen actually, but we have to make do with this hallowed one, to avoid the shortcoming of popularity contest and multiple ID voting.

Ok. lemme set the ball rolling cheesy

Four mods contesting in my head:

Sexkillz - a thorn in the neck of those stubborn romance posters
Tgirl - quality initiatives and threads
Cuddlemii - good initiative by initiating debate, which we have adopted in our section and working
Maclatunji - reviving and sanitizing the Muslim section

Nairaland General › Re: Nominations For Moderator Of The Year 2012 by Jarus(m): 12:35pm On Dec 03, 2012
Tgirl4real: Interesting.

I think it should be opened to the public so that people can nominate and u can screen.

Then I suggest it should be in categories, like most creative, most active and so on.

For creative: I will nominate Cuddle for d debates and how she went about it.

For active: I will go with OAM4J cos he is good at linking, merging and moving threads to the appropriate section. Lol

Secondly, 1forall for proper investigation on the Job/vacancy section

I also like the way Odumchi moderates culture as per his manners.

Rocktation is also trying with events.

And Odunnu is always ready to answer questions.

My nomination is limited to those I follow/interact with and can be biased rather than objective. I'm sure we have other active mods that are doing fine as well. May be a list of Mods and d section they mod will help guide us.
I personally, don't know how many mods we have.
I dont think we need a list of mods; I reckon it should be enough to judge based on the ones one consciously or sub-consciously observes in the year. The ones A and B observe may not be the one C & D do, so at the end of the day, it evens out. For example, even with the open approach we used last year, it was glaring that OAM4J deserved, ditto for Lawyer in 2009.

Also, I don't think we need to sub-divide into most creative, most active etc. Modding generally requires being creative, active etc, so one's choice should be based on the weight one attaches to these qualities.

Just my thoughts.

afam4eva: I've also noticed the dip in traffic. What could be the cause of this?
Actually, NL experience the most traffic on work days, especially Mondays, especially morning. Too much activities on weekends plus some people access internet only from their office systems, and hardly have access on Saturday and Sunday, so on Monday morning, one of their first things is to check what's new on NL. That was a very perfect explanation 3-4 years ago, and still explains, though to a less extent, the Monday (or weekdays) theory, even with almost everyone having internet access via mobile phones now.
Politics › Re: Politics Section Poster Of The Year 2012 - Katz, Gbawe & Naptu are finalists by Jarus(op): 11:47am On Dec 03, 2012
afam4eva: It seems people are not really interested in the nomination. I was expecting this thread to have hit 10 pages by now.
Traffic has been generally low on Nairaland over the weekend. Hopefully, today (Monday, work day), we can get more traffic. Also, we are pushing for home page and hopefully the Supermods would grant us before end of today.
