Welcome back, PointB. I can see you were more civil in your last post. We are not stifling contrarian views, all we want is civility while expressing your opinions. Coogar remains a judge. You said he said he had no hope in Nigeria, that is banal. At one point or the other, we have all made statements like that. You said he insulted Igbo, you lifted his comment in the middle of a discussion that was basically tribal. Eziachi, not taking anything away from him, is a proud Biafra defender, we all overlooked it because we know he is capable of rising beyond his personal convictions. |
Desola: Mighty igor!Ayaba, ekaabo. ![]() What position do you want? Chairlady? Queen of the debate? ![]() |
Naija should have this. Ike Uche. Sadly, we said same thing before their match against Guinea same situation last year. |
blackmale: even in the university, people were bullying one another,, reminds me of ARO BOIS,, in OAU..IFE, back thenAwo boys are crazy. They made the hall fun-filled. I wasnt part of them but I enjoyed their taunts. Hilarious stunts and all that. No dull moment in my 5 years stay in that hall. |
Primary school *I no fit mention his name here o. I learnt he is now a ********* Secondary school Bulla Bororo Sule bintin to be updated as I remember more Cross these guys' paths to your peril |
PointB, I hid your posts and banned your new ID because is it is created to circumvent deterrent ban, therefore illegal ab initio. You can continue to raise the points you raised with your new ID using your original ID when you resume from the 5-hour ban, of course, without uncivil words. New ID banned, posts made with it hidden. Thank you. |
PointB*, I saw you down here. If you make any comment on this thread with that ID, I'm sorry, it's permanent ban for that ID and extension of the ban for your main handle(PointB) to 24 hours. Pls. |
afam4eva: 5 hours no be beans ooo...tender justice with mercy. At least you can reduce the punishment to 1 hour. That should do.No sir, 1 hour is not deterrent enough. |
jmaine: You talk correctBut I can't be a judge. ![]() But he has said earlier in this thread that he will be coming after the debate has ended when it's time for operation wetie, bench-throwing a la Adedibu ![]() |
afam4eva: I hereby apologise on their behalf. Release the both of them and they'll go home and sin no more. ![]() Let them drink water and sleep for the 5 hours and come back by 17:07 hrs ![]() Let's have some peace on the thread abeg. |
I have just banned PointB and Coogar for 5 hours, for defying the simple rule that they should protest/defend only with civil words. I am aware that one was on the attack and the other on the defensive, I had to wield the big stick on both of them because they both used insulting words in the process. See you guys by 17:07 hours. Let's all learn to pass across our disagreements/defence with civility. |
jmaine: Not publishing their names might not do well for transparency, considering some of the judges are known to be prejudiced to certain quarters . . . . .Are you sure the cons of publishing their names do not outweigh the merits? I think so. Merit of not publishing 1, A judge will be objective. Dayokanu is my friend, if I score him 0/5 ( ). He wont forgive me in 5 years. LOL. But if my name isnt there, he wont know who scored him 0. . Funny, but it can happen.2, It reduces rancour. A debater that doesnt perform well can easily say the judge that scores him lowest doesnt like his face, bringing out a past thread where they disagreed(and he will always find one, because we have all disagreed at one thread or the other) |
From this point, any comment that contains hate/hard words will be hidden and the poster banned for 5 hours. You can protest or defend yourself without using strong words. Pls. |
Pharoh: The best way should have been for the organizers to just go with any kind of judges and encourage them to leave their bias behind instead of trying to look for people who were neutral and that is really impossible in my opinion so lets stop deceiving ourselves. No, we are not saying they are neutral. We (and majority other forumers agree) see them as 1, not having extreme opinion 2, capable of dropping their sentiments. Even as a coordinator, I have my personal views. Even Seun, the forum owner, has his sentiments. But it is easy for us to drop them. |
jmaine: Always knew the thread will boil cos of the texture of the Judges listWe shall publish the individual judge's result and the average, but we wont include name of the Judge, Just Judge 1-5 and each's scoring. |
PointB: No, I don't think so. But I thought you wanted fairness, and balance in the judges. In other words, those whose political-economy leaning cannot be pinpointed. In the case of the fuel subsidy, those who oppose it probably have a thing or two against the establishment, while those who supported it are most likely supporter of the regime. The fact that is is debatable cast doubt on the neutrality of the judges. ![]() You need credible, independent seconders before we can at least revisit the choice. In addition, the fact that he criticized GEJ is not a ground for disqualification. Bring better arguments. |
Did they not survive before the amalgamation? Were they not surviving during the regional system? |
PointB: It has absolutely nothing to do with Eze Ndi Igbo. But everything to do with the fuel subsidy removal. Let me ask you, another round of fuel subsidy removal is coming say January since not money is allocated for it in the budget? What are going to do? Move on, walk away from the protest? So you think all the over 100 million Nigerians that were against fuel subsidy are doing so because of their political leaning or facts before them? My mentor, SLS, was a leading voice for fuel subsidy removal while I protested against it. This is someone I am on first name term with. That is rising above affiliation. Yet, when his house was touched in Kano by subsidy protesters, I was one of the first people that sent 'sorry' message to him. All these agreements and disagreements that shape our political value are based on facts avaialable to everyone and our interpretation. It is very unfortunate that because someone opposed fuel subsidy, then he is anti-GEJ. You now go ahead and bring a quote that is critical of establishment from the judges. In fact, that should qualify them more. It is puppetry and inability to whold their own to endorse everything the government does without scrutiny. And none of these guys are known as a rabid GEJ hater, spamming the forum with anti-GEJ posts. They chipped in their comments where necessary. In any case, this debate is about Nigeria, not about GEJ or any political personality! |
It is disgustingly unfortunate that some people cannot rise above their political leaning (not even ideology) even in every matter. Very unfortunate. |
Inna lilahi wa inna ilaehi rajiun I honestly don't know what is wrong with these guys. Bike from Abuja to Uyo? Same way MD of Petroleum Brokers Ltd (can't remember his name again) died last year in bike accident coming back from Port Harcourt to Lagos. MD of an oil company that was so big he could afford a private jet sef fa. |
B ve oyb: man, nl do dey change o - first kobo, now jarus in romance section . Boss, no be only una go dey romantic nw. Anyway sha, I hope you know this is a hp topic ![]() |

Johndoe100: Quite simple really. We patriotic members feel you lean towards those opposition members (enemies of progress if you ask me). We wonder if the debate was conceived as a way to forward the interest of the opposition's viewpoint. You have an excellent opportunity to prove us wrong by including some of our nominees as judges and debaters in this debate of yours. We spent 2 days to arrive at this team of judges but you didn't show up here while that was going on. Two, can you tell me which of our panel members is an 'opposition member'. And I know you're too smart to say a person becomes an 'opposition member' just because he had had cause to disagree with you or your political leaning in the past. Name which of those guys is known for opposition to your political leaning. |
Great. And you all know which school naturally comes to mind when 'Great' is the qualifying adjective. Forget about the copy-cats and pretenders that now use the epithet. |
Johndoe100: Who are the honest judges? I have given you a list choose from. We the members (to bad you don't get to decide who the members are is it not) want anyone on the list. This will give your "debate" some credibility. By the way was this debate the idea of one of your opposition friends? As an aside this is something I have always found fascinating about this politics board. Are you the mod for ALL the members or just those you like?If I say I understood what you wrote up here, I will be deceiving you. |
lagerwhenindoubt: There is a strong contention for bias especially among the judges who lean towards a political group or learning. It is our deepest hope that they will put aside these obvious bias and objectively debate with balance of ideals in mind. imagine @Gbawe and @Beaf in agreement with some people-centric ACN plansWe recognized that, but I think the risk is very low, given; 1, Judges were carefully selected and a good number of forumers have confidence in them 2, From all the comments, judges will naturally want to be seen as doing objective job. Settling for them of the lot is a vote for their ability. With the nice words about them, I don't think anyone would want to disappoint, even in practically inconsequential online debate like this. 3, Diversity - This is the most assuring point. 5 judges, spread in different parts of the world, with different worldviews, cannot all be wrong. These guys are not known for a single line of opinion. Nobody can, in one sentence, summarize what they share in common. e.g if you have Dayokanu and Gbawe in a team, you can tell what they share in common, same if you have a team of 5 with Billyonaire, Beaf etc, you can tell what they have in common. For our team of judges, no common denominator in ideology and viewpoints. This diversity will be helpful in reaching objective conclusion. After all, we are going to aggregate their scores for each debater and average it. Worst case scenario is having one or two biased, but their bias will easily be evened out or rendered insignificant when the other objective 3's scoring/judgement are averaged with it. If 2 biased judges score someone 4 over 5, and the objective ones scored the person 2, the average comes to 2.8, which is not significantly different from teh objective score of 2. |
Castos: U ought to have all the lines in case of free browsing tweaks, bonanza, discounts, network disappointments, awooof credit, c'on!Fair enough. But not with 50k credit per month that I hardly exhaust sef. |
One. Anytime I take more than 1, I involuntarily misplace the less used one. The first time I wanted to use 2 phones (2007), I lost the second one the day I bought it. I was somewhere with both phones but I was so used to one phone that I took one anf forgot the other there. Needless to say that was the end of it. Recently, when my new company provided me another Blackberry, and brought my phone to 2, carrying 2 phones was just too incenvenient for me that the non-official one is permanently abandoned at home, I have not used it for 3 months, with its flat battery. I hate more than one phone. |
247naijagossip: A reader of our blog needs your advice....Please read carefully!!!Confessing will compound it. The remorse, if genuine, is enough. Ask for God's forgiveness and tell teh husband you dont want that to happen again. |
The most pathetic part is Vanguard also authoritatively reporting it as Shark. At best, I expect something like 'a water creature believed to be Shark'. That was very unprofessional of Vanguard. |
Newcastle can actually work something out for these guys like Sevilla did for Kanoute few years ago: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fr%C3%A9d%C3%A9ric_Kanout%C3%A9 "Kanouté has been practicing Islam since he was around the age of 22. He refused to wear a Sevilla shirt bearing the name of club sponsor 888.com, due to the fact the website is used for gambling, which is against the principles of Islam; this meant that the club had to give him a brand-free jersey every match. The company, however, agreed to excuse him from their publicity campaigns in return for Kanouté wearing the sponsored kit, which was part of the players' contractual duties." But I doubt these guys are as strong Muslim as Kanoute. |
