I don't see anything wrong in demolishing a mosque built in the wrong place, the only problem is hypocrisy of Nigerians in matters like this. If an El-Rufai demolished a wrongly built church in Kaduna, the whole social media would be on fire now and CAN etc would be shouting Islamization.
monlawal: Exactly my thoughts Probably in your case, you did not see the job description on any advertorial. But what is described in the adverts are always enough and exactly what the recruiters want you to know at that material time
I dont agree one needs to see the advert or be told the job description before one should know what a job entails. All you need to know is the job title.
A financial controller does generally the same thing almost everywhere. Ditto for a tax manager, an accountant, a marketing officer, a reservoir engineer, a procurement officer etc.
For someone to recommend you for the job, that means you have the qualifications (an engineer wont be recommended for an accounting job). So from the job title, you are expected to know what the job entails.
If you don't know, you should have googled it - eg Job description of a procurement officer. A simple research on the internet will get you that.
I will also be turned off if someone asks me that question at an interview.
Skevin: Opinion needed Firstly, my apologies for discussing something other than nnpc recruitment here. I recently attended a job interview based on referral (the job was not advertised). Towards the end of the interview, as usual, I was given an opportunity to ask some questions. I decided to ask that they give me an overview of the job responsibilities. That question did not go down well with one of the panelists. To him, it was an indication that I came to the interview without knowing the responsibilities of the role. Although I tried to make him see reason that since the job was not advertised, I couldn't have had the opportunity to go through the job description, he still didn't seem pleased with the explanation. Please, I would like to have your opinions on whether my question was fundamentally wrong the way the man tried to make it look. Until that very moment, I was of the opinion that an interview is meant to be an opportunity for the interviewers to get to know the candidates better just as it is for the candidate to get to know more about the job and the organization. Uncle Jarus and others with experience on interview coaching and recruitment should please give local man their opinion as he is presently confused.
P. S the only prior information I had with regard the interview was that they were looking for people of a particular profession say accountants, economists or mathematicians which I fit in, hence my invitation to participate in the recruitment.
Unfortunately, if I were on the panel, I would also be upset. However we look at it, it is not a good decision to ask about what the job you are interviewing for, entails.
It's a fundamental error and it will take very strong performance during the course of the main interview (ie your earlier response to technical questions) for the error to be overlooked.
The interviewer doesn't have to have another candidate to be turned off by that question.
GeniusOla: My close acquaintance got this very 2016 DPR job without knowing anybody sir, 99.9 is rather unrealistic, we still maintain the fact that there'll always be backdoor influence but don't make it sound like there's no ray of hope whatsoever for the common man. I may or may not get this job, I'm only maintaining a stand that folks still gets these jobs without connection
I have given up on advising people to stop spreading that negative thinking.
That was how my colleague's brother was ranting that DPR was not recruiting on merit, that the interview was just a formality, that he was asked the name of the senator representing his district (as if many others were not asked current affairs) blablabla.
The guy got the job eventually and could not eat his words after blackmailing DPR.
Someone I brought to Lagos - a brilliant guy but not so exposed then - that stayed with me while doing NYSC, that I was the one that shared interview tips with right in my sitting room, got NNPC job in 2012. He didn't know anybody. Although he didn't take it (on my advice too).
These are few examples of people that dont know anybody in NNPC or DPR.
Look, we can't deny that people get into these places by connection, but I have seen enough reason to believe that up to 70% is based on merit. I don't care if people don't agree but I can confidently say it anywhere. I even mentioned it in a book I wrote in 2014.
mosgoon: @Jarus, any definitive updates from your source regarding timelines?
All my sources only debunked the cancellation rumour. None has given me any clue on when the successful candidates will be contacted since the "latest September" response I got 2 weeks ago.
I also don't like bothering people too much. After being told "latest September" and September hasn't come, bothering again doesn't look good.
Denique: I'm concerned because I read here that it can be transmitted through bodily contact like fluids etc which is why I want to get the vaccinated. Is there a designated centre for it or just some random clinic?
RTSC2: I think oshoala goal was very good, but it was just a shot from a long distance after the keeper left his line.
Lobbying the ball at close distance to the keeper is where the technicality is. Very few players can do it. They would rather go round the keeper because it is easier.
Look at this video of messi especially the first goal.
IghravweIG: If one is already vaccinated, is it for life time?
Yes. Although there is a debate that a booster dose may be required after a long time, say 20 years. But the more popular view of researchers/hepatologists is it is for life.
Malawian: I'll give you a few. Just imagine you have the worst kind of whooping cough. That is not even the worst part as each time you cough, it will be like a thousand needles are pressed into your heart. It takes you maybe 20 seconds to get over it, but the cough is still there right at the top of your throat like landlord.
Imagine your stomach left where it was and come up to your esophagus. I mean, you cant eat anything without vomiting it under 5 mins, you cant also defecate as your stomach is so bloated.
Then there is the fever that can boil beans, i mean, mere passing next to someone without even touching the person, they will know your body is hot.
You will even loose your hair while at it.The only thing i could keep down then was cocacola. every other thing, i vomited after 5 mins.
You are describing another disease, not hepatitis B.
Denique: Can anybody get vaccinated against it? Pls help, thanks!
Yes, if that person has not had it. Strongly advised to go and run test now; if negative, start the 3 dose vaccination; if positive, commence management.
Malawian: Who told you that? I have been free of it since February 2004. I even had a baby this year, non got it. You realise i am now immune to the Virus right? Mostly survivors get the gift of being immune to it for life.
You only needed to be there when they were treating me. My drugs were more in size than the food i was eating then sef.
What you had was most likely acute, if it had gone.
I will advise you still go do another test very soon.
I currently use #1 and it has been perfoming. I enjoy it.
The comment about brake failing scares me o. Never read about that. Most of the reviews I read before buying it mentioned suspension issue as the major problem.
Now, I will be afraid to fire the car before of this frequent brake failure I'm reading here Will forward the article to my mechanic for his comment
nairalanduseles: You don't know me and you think you know more What does that say about you? How u check am?
Bros, I know the very few hepatologists in Nigeria and they are not on Nairaland. And you are not even one of a little many gastroenterologists, who have good idea of the subject, but are not the best to even talk to - most of whom have not heard of fibroscan or difference between HBV DNA and hbsag quantitative.
I don't even talk to GPs on this subject not to talk of a lab attendant which you likely are.
I remember this guy in Ghana vs Nigeria game of 2007 where Nigeria was beaten 4-1.
I thought regular exercise reduce our risk of stroke, how do you explain a young footballer dying of stroke when football is one of the best forms of exercise? Na God dey save person jare.
femokleen: Are you pained after being paid? You get chinchin for skull aswear...lol. If dem pay me, wetin go make me dey vex or feel bad? I can't imagine sha. Money wey everyone dey always pray to get don turn evil for NNPC matter... E get as e be
He is only being sarcastic. If you read his previous posts, you will know that.
Addme: All I'm seeing here are Advisers to the President and not to the vice President. If these appointees are to work with the Vice President from the president sides then your heading is wrong OP.
