simplebb: I posted here days ago on this same subject.
Why would I expend/be expending so much energy on a job I would 99.9% or 100% reject and even be everywhere on the job thread bothering myself with issues as regards the recruitment.
If you know you won't 100% take up a job, then you won't even be here at all, or would check the thread once in a bluemoon just to know what's going on with those that are interested in it, definitely as a low key follower.
This doesn't conform to logic.
But then, what do I know
This thread lost its sanity after the interview with so many unrelated and unneeded information, baseless theories here and there...
The arrival of APL would really help in restoring it. Probably need to clarify my own o. I have always used "may not" or "likely not" in my posts on this subject before someone sees me at Block D and asks wetin you dey do here. lol I have analysed the cases for and against in several posts here so no need to rehash. Decision if given the offer, will depend on which is stronger at that point in time. |

souljar: @bolded, as simple as that. Wikipedia, though not very reliable, even gave pop. figures for age brackets 0-4, 5-9, all the way up to 85+... you could estimate ~60m people within the ages 20 - 50, and the illiteracy rate in Nigeria pushes that figure way down to 36m, then start adding all the other parameters... Ayam tired. This explanation no even shift September 9th closer Exactly, if there are 36m literate people (although my own estimate, stretching it to 65 years, puts it at 52m) within the age bracket 20-50 in Nigeria, how can someone say 26m applied to NNPC? |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Apply For 2019 NNPC Graduate Trainee And Experience Hire by Jarus(m): 9:32pm On Aug 29, 2019 |
Sulleymanimam: @jarus, The population of Nigeria was 180million as at 2006. 180 million was just a figure generated by National population Commission. I can categorically tell you that not upto 60% of Nigerians were counted during the 2006 census, but lets even say it is correct. From 2006 till date, you know how many ppl dem don born for this country? Our population now is way above 250 million. MPO sha Nah, the population of Nigeria in 2006 was 140m. Since then there has not been any census, it is just projection (which is a normal practice everywhere - no country does census every year, what you have is annual growth rate which statistics bodies use to project). Although Nigeria's population is officially 200m in 2019, it does not in any way materially alter the conclusions from my analysis. You said there were people that were not counted in 2006, that's true, but there were non-existent people that were "counted" too. Sub-national governments in Nigeria collude with NPC officials to rig census to favour them in allocation and political clout. Each LG or state strives to report high figures for political reasons. So for every 1 that was not counted, there were 5 fictitious people that were added before the papers get to NPC office. At the end of the day, almost every state colluded with census officials to add to their numbers - leading to an inflated national aggregate. |

Twhizzy2: Statistically, as at Q3, 2018, number of persons in the labour force is 90.5m. Unemployed (working less than 20hours a week) is 20.9m Underemployed is 18.21m Employed is 51.3m
From the data above, it's statistically possible.
Considering the fact that the "employed" also applied.
NB: I'm not confirming that 25.6 applied to NNPC. 25.6m people applying for NNPC jobs is statistically impossible. Nigeria has a population of 180m. 25.6m means 1 out of every 7 Nigerians applied. I doubt 3 people in my family of 100 applied. My mum and sisters did not apply. My wife and children did not apply. All carpenters and mechanics in my area did not apply. So where is the 1 out of every 7 coming from? Some stats are common sense. They cannot be true. Nigeria has a population of 180m. 44% are 0-14 years of age, 53% between 15-64 years, and 2.7% above 65 years. That means the number of adults of working age is 53% ie 95.4m. The literacy rate in Nigeria is 60%, that means only 57m are able to read and write from the adult population (an illiterate cannot apply to NNPC). Now, that adult population includes people between 15-20 years, who could not have applied for NNPC. Let's say those are 5m. We have 52m left. Now, are you saying 25m out of 52m (1 out of every 2 educated adult Nigerians) applied for NNPC job? We have not even taken out those who are still in the universities, Polytechnics and COEs but are above 20 years. It is just statistically impossible. |

tyakson99: Well, bro, I am not arguing the 26 million figure with you. Just trying to juxtapose the figure with the recent press release of NYSC wherein they said over 4 million Nigerians have taking part in the scheme so far and giving the fact that requirement for application was stringent. But of course I knew even people who weren't qualified applied i.e some guys with 3rd and 2nd class lower and even HND without masters, also remember for G.T you must have graduated from 2014 upwards. But statically it is possible given our huge population and unemployment rate although I doubt it true. Alas it doesn't matter at stage, me and you are already here and I pray we all get in. Cheers It is statistically impossible except my grandmother, my mechanic and my gateman also applied. |

kevwemanuel: This is the page I read. It says "...25.6m PASSED THROUGH THE PORTAL..." before it was officially closed. But English is not our native language so maybe I don't understand.
She's right. The SUN page clearly states that 25.6m APPLICATIONS passed through the portal (i.e. were received by NNPC) SUN must have relied on fake news. 25.6m applications is like saying 1 out of every 7 Nigerians applied. That's statistically impossible. They probably meant number of clicks on the site during the application window. |

I ruled him out after that injury in Man U but bouncing back in his career to score 46 goals in 49 MLS games is no mean feat for a 37-year-old. |

The new GMD is not brought from outside the corporation, he’s already in the system, the knew when the recruitment started and I’m might be on the board sef. Change in management hierarchy is not the reason why the offer letter hasn’t been sent out yet.

I've said this before, and i'll keep saying it, even if we all had "great interviews" NNPC can't employ us all, and in the word of Oga Jarus: "nobody is above regret mail" Actually, grade no longer matters at this stage. Grade only matters during shortlisting for test. |

NigelCundy: The question can be rephrased by saying "Asides from the general description of this role, what are the day to day activities expected of me" or "what does an average day on the job look like"?
I say this with all due respect: Your second paragraph emphasizes the point I made about many panels not being trained to conduct interviews because they think "it is just an interview".
With my knowledge of the HR industry both home and abroad, I can tell you that a candidate who asks any of the questions I posted above shows a zeal towards the job rather than someone who just wants to get a job, and this holds for both EH and GT positions. This is simply because organizational environnements differ based on different factors. So, there may be some untold activities that an individual ought to perform daily on the job. Eg Meeting with the COO, or checking in with your supervisor.
Dear All, I will once again reiterate my first point that it is not out of place to ask about some of the day to day activities you are expected to perform in a role. Whether you are changing industry or coming in as a graduate. Your rephrased questions send a different message, which is positive. Not directly asking what the job entails, which is what some of us think is not right. |
