Another thing you should expect: after the successful candidates are finally contacted, some of them will run away from this thread or enter ghost mode, refusing to comment again, people that used to be active here o. Mostly out of fear of NNPC withdrawing their offer or "hear no evil", or evil eyes.
Some of the candidates we (ie my personal firm, JarusHub) coached for DPR got the job, some got back to us to tell us they did, some did not for fear of us announcing their "success" to the world, or just keeping it secret. It was when they resumed that some of those that contacted us came to tell us that they saw so-so persons that were also part of our coaching in Lagos/Abuja/PH on resumption, but the people themselves did not tell us they got the job. We only knew of one during this NNPC, when she sent her husband to our coaching, on her advice.
I think it is a Nigerian thing. Many people will not announce their success here. You will just not see them again.
So, expect some folks here that are vocal here to enter quiet mode after success emails/sms/letters drop. Or perhaps they immediately start seeing themselves as part of NNPC and refusing to comment publicly here, even anonymously.
I will not be surprised to see that less than 10 people will announce their success on this thread. |

But Honda is adorable , pleasing , comfortable, with a feel of being in a car . Most Toyota cars feel like cut and sow especially corrolas. It depends on the person anyway Never been a fan of Corolla too. |

Conceptman: I learnt Honda pilot no dey burst leg for road , how true and how is the vehicle like, someone should help with details. Have a Pilot 2007 that I bought almost a year ago. No ball joint issue so far. I have also never seen any Honda Pilot "burst leg" for road. I think the ball joint issue applies mostly to Honda Accord 2003-2007 (EOD & DC) and occasionally Civic 2005-2007. |

Have used 3 Honda in the last 10 years (Civic, EOD $ Pilot) and never experienced that common issue - #1.
Generally, I consider Honda a decent, low-maintenance car. |

Beeam: Pls where is ur football pitch? Lekki? I play in about 5 pitches on that axis. On a related note, NNPC has one of the best teams in oil and gas industry games. Probably because they have the most staff in oil industry. I represented my then company in table tennis in oil and gas industry games in 2012. I was beaten black and blue by a guy from Addax. NNPC usually win in football and table tennis. They have very good football and table tennis players. They used to have one left-handed Hausa man that used to win Gold medal in table tennis - very good. Their football team walloped my former company 7-0 or something like that in football few years ago. My present company doesn't participate in oil & gas industry games. If I join NNPC, I will join their football team, but I know I wont make their 3rd 11 sef. They have very good football players. |

BenFlash: Noted, Keyword is wrt NNPC, that settles the case, because the word 'Technical' in some definitions covers courses beyond STEM, as long as it involves developing some specialised skill e.g. Accounting, baking etc. No doubt about that. Accounting is the technical field for an accounting firm, for example. Law and accounting are the technical fields for an FIRS (tax authority) while a mechanical engineer will be the support (eg as Head of Maintenance Division) in such organization. Economics will be technical field in an economic or policy research company, while the IT guy will be the support. IT will be the technical field in an Accenture, while the accountant or lawyer is a support. Law is the technical field in a law firm. That said, in general usage, technical field in most cases refers to STEM - or technology related. |

Maybe I need to clarify a bit more:
ONLY graduates of engineering, physical sciences (e.g. maths, physics, chemistry, etc) and geology underwent the training.
Graduates of biological sciences and non-science related courses were not part of the training. I think we can defer to this xfire's comment to use on classification of technical vs non-technical wrt NNPC. |

Enrypech: Where does Industrial Chemistry fall, texhnical too? Arguable. Industrial chemistry is technical to refinery (midstream), for example, non-technical to downstream and semi-technical to exploration and production (upstream). All engineering courses and fields like geology, geophysics are undisputably technical to oil and gas industry. Courses like Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry are also technical, but less so. I will say they are in-between. Economics, Accounting, IT (except may be Computer Engineering), environmental courses, Law are all support functions. But interestingly, a typical upstream or downstream oil company may need more accountants than chemists. Finance department is usually one of the biggest non-technical departments. A 100-staff company may have up to 15 accountants. Strictly my view based on experience and observations, not a textbook classification. |

fumfum23: I posted this earlier. I had to edit because I realised I wasn't fully anon on my profile and I'm trying to protect my privacy. I hope my profile photo has deleted o. LMAO.
Here's what I wrote earlier.
"Alright. Lemme talk my own.
Nothing significant that has not been heard already.
I spoke to someone (one of my rich toasters huhu) who USED TO work with NNPC he rose through the ranks before leaving for a private oil company.
Same information. He said he spoke to someone who WORKS IN THE GMDs office (high up) about me (I went for the interview) the guy said its ABOVE HIM. I only called him to confirm if my name was on the list but he said he can't see anything it's very confidential. He said I should pray because my state is competitive. Imagine someone working in the GMDs office saying its above him.
Other things he said: - It's apparently 80% merit 20% politics. - He spoke to the guy after the Salah break and he told him to expect the letter end of this month. - They're taking people more from "technical" roles. I'm not sure what that really means. I studied Social Science so I'm not among. - I didn't ask about TF and APL because he won't know and I'll just look stupid asking about una nairaland theories.
It's nothing I haven't heard here a thousand times. Please don't ask for my state o. Ya girl is trying to stay anon.
Disclaimer: THIS PERSON IS NOT CURRENTLY WORKING WITH NNPC. He's an old head relying on others for information to". Your friend's response aligns with what we have always told people here but some choose to believe some theories. By the way, technical roles are engineering, Geology and related fields. Those of us non-technical are the support functions (Finance, HR, IT etc). Nothing new actually, oil industry is a technical industry (not a service industry like banks), they will always need more technical guys. |

Where did you get your statistics from? Go and read about the universities called first generation universities in Nigeria. |
Politics › Re: ABU Alumni Dominate Buhari’s Cabinet by Jarus(m): 7:56am On Aug 19, 2019 |
It has always been like that.
Reasons are:
1, North has 19 states, South has 17. ABU is the most prestigious school in the North. 4 schools (UNILAG, UI, OAU & UNN, even UNIBEN) share that in the South. So while almost all the VIPs of the North attended ABU, these 4 schools share that of the South. In fact, SW schools will be the most hit as 3 of these top 6 first generation schools are concentrated there.
2, ABU is more cosmopolitan than the Southern schools. So you have southern students schooling there. You hardly find northerners in universities in the South. What that means is, a southern product of ABU will also be competing with southern products of southern schools for slots of southern states. So a southern product of ABU can be the minister from Oyo or Imo state! |
