Overhaul by simply reshuffling the cards internally within the organisation? NNPC has never really been up there compared to her peers like Saudi Aramco, Petronas and Petrobas. It is generally perceived to be a very inefficient and wasteful organization, mainly due to the fact that is a fully Nigerian govt driven organization with little or no goals or target to attain. No wonder, the refineries have been comatose for years and no one has lost his/her job over that. Unlike private organizations, there is little emphasis on grooming leadership /management staff based on merit or appraisal. It will surprise you that most correspondences / memos within NNPC are still via paper rather than electronic! How archaic can that be?

It is difficult, if not impossible to produce a well groomed 21st century manager in such an environment that can turn around the fortunes of any NNPC subsidiary. NNPC system makes it hard to grow well groomed and technical managers.

The only way NNPC can truly restructure for enhanced performance is to be open to genuine structural re-organization. More importantly, NNPC must be ready to hire senior management staff from outside the organization who have years of experience working in performance driven corporations. Such people should be given the free hand to inject new ideas and reinvigorate the team spirit. Anything short is nepotism, politics or tribalism under the guise of merit.

I can assure you that nothing will change, with the current NNPC structure backed by law. It's all steam but no movement.

I agree with you. In fact, one of the jokes in my office by colleagues who deal with NNPC is that paper memo/paper approval you talk about. In 2019, that should not be happening in an organization of NNPC's size, resource and importance.

The statement I am going to make will be more understood by an Accountant or Finance Professionals.

NNPC have the financial capability to pay the Transportation Fee of everybody that was interviewed at once.
But, in order to make their financial report look good and for the sake of managing their Operating Expenses (OPEX) effectively, the management must have been advised to spread the payment over a period of months so that their OPEX will not be too alarming in a particular month.

Let me give you an example.
Assuming NNPC made a sales of #1M in July when they started the payment of Transport Fee and the whole transport fee to be paid is 400k.

Note that NNPC have other expenses to meet. E.g Salaries of workers, maintenance of their facilities, Utility bills and other expenses I can't mention. Let's assume all these expenses equals to 500k.

This implies that if NNPC decides to meet all this expenses in July, I.e 400k + 500k = 900k

Then Profit of NNPC for July will be ( 1M- 900k) = 100k.

Therefore, a good financial adviser/analyst will advice NNPC thus:
The Payment of the Transport Fee for interviewees should be spread and be paid in Batches.
Let's say 100k should be paid per month. This means it will take four month to settle all the people interviewed.

Let now see how this will affect their profit in July:
100k will be paid as Transport Fee for interviewees and 500k will be paid for other expenses. All expenses for July Will now be 600k. Therefore the profit for July will be (1M - 600k) = 400k.
Going by this, you can see that a profit of 400k will speak well than Profit of 100k earlier reported when they pay all interviewees Transport Fee at once.

Other financial experts in this thread can attest to this as I drop my pen.

"Am not in this country" : Using am instead of I'm casually is very common. It's a common informal conversational slang or shortcut . I have chatted with a British girl that used it in some context.

"Every things is stand still" : I have made similar errors Iike this countless times on whatsapp/telegram due to typing fast. This is nothing to even pick a problem with. We type fast informally on such platforms and such mistakes are inevitable

Die / Due : same thing here, it's obvious he was typing fast and tried to correct it immediately as it could change the meaning of his statement leading to the error. Also evidenced by the same timestamp for each message

I was surprised this piece of news was not thoroughly analysed here yesterday despite someone dropping it here.

I think Mele Kyari is living up to his reputation as Mr. Transparency. The very day he was announced, I spoke with a colleague that had been in meetings with him before and he confirmed he is a very good yet humble man (with no airs around him). The press also wrote positive things about him. I remember The Cable writing about his antecenents as a champion of transparency. I remember the DG of NEITI, who is not knowm for frivolity, also applauding the appointment.

It appears the guy truly means business. This reorganization is a welcome development. NPDC needs a total overhaul. Starting the restructuring with NPDC is a good idea by the GMD.

Relating to this recruitment, I think it could be positive or negative news.

The GMD could give a directive as "hold on, let's finish this internal reorganization first so we can re-assess our manpower need before bringing in more employees". A potential source of delay. Keyword: potential.

But generally, that action and other information contained in that piece of news reinforce the fact that NNPC is very keen at bringing new people onboard and the current leadership is also sold on the idea.

5 Reasons APL & Tfare are Unrelated

1. Common sense: It is called transport reimbursement, not success fee or failure compensation. No interviewee lives in NNPC towers, everybody came (was transported) from somewhere.
2. Xfire, who successfully underwent the process in 2012 and got the job, and perhaps the most trusted source of experience sharing here, confirmed it.
3. Another guy (whose username I can't remember) who also underwent the 2012 recruitment but did not get the job confirmed he was paid. So we have had experience from a successful candidate and a non-successful one in the 2012 set. No reason that will change.
4. Their staff confirmed (to me, and several other sources here) that everyone will be paid
5. No precedent: It is not done anywhere - either the company reimburses or not. Never seen a case of reimbursement to only successful candidates or lack of it for unsuccessful ones.

Interview ended on Thursday, disbursement of TP allowance started on friday and that's not enough reasons to convince you that its too short a time to conclude on selection. “The whereabouts of a former Director of Legal in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Grace Taiga was unknown. Our detectives have not been able to get across to her. We need her assistance. She superintended over the GSPA six months to her retirement.‼

“We are probing clues that Lukman’s signature might have been forged for the deal. He was a meticulous and an experienced international stakeholder in OPEC. Those who worked with him expressed doubts that he would sign such an agreement without FEC approval.‼

“We are suspecting a case of forgery. We will do forensic analysis of all relevant documents.”‼‼

Sometimes, anxiety makes us think too far. Take a chill pill.

There is no absolutely no correlation between receiving TFare and APL. Ideally, everyone is supposed to receive tfare refund. There may be delay here and there when dealing with a large number of interviewees but it has nothing to do with APL.

You guys are even lucky to get your tfare refund on time. I cant remember exactly when we got ours but it was after several months.

This recruitment process seems to be much faster. I recently searched my inbox for the interview letter. I realized that I did my interview in July 2011, only to end up resuming August the following year. I think I got APL in June/July 2012.

Hopefully this will be way faster.

For the attention of those who think it is getting too long to get feeeback on this interview. It took 1 year between interview and APL disbursement in the 2012 recruitment.

I know things have been fast this time, but this interview ended just last month.

By the way, I have not heard any update after the latest September update.
