To think CIV had Pepe and Zaha in the last AFCON and did not even make it to semi final.

Two players Arsenal think they need to win EPL. Football is funny.

That's why I say if zlatan score 15 goals him flop be that
Haba. 15 goals is success to average players. Zlatan is not in that class. He is in the class of exceptional strikers.

I just looked at his stats.

He scored less than 15 goals in a season only in 2 seasons in his 20 years career.

Osimhen will do well in ligue 1 no doubt

But sorry not every average striker score 15 in ligue one o ,football no easy as we see am most times

Zlatan was never 38 at ligue 1 ,if zlatan scores 15 self na poor season dem go call am

Mbappe Na class ,Neymar self wey don score pass the game wey him play ,ligue 1 self hard o
Zlatan scored 38 in a season, that was my sentence.

This is why I wanna was livid when Onyekuru turned down Monaco. 2-3 good seasons there would’ve placed him the crosshairs of even bigger clubs.
Big clubs go to Ligue 1 every season to ferry top performers.

It's not a new thing. I remember Drogba and Essien were Ligue 1 players of the year for 2004 and 2005 respectively, Chelsea ferried both in each of those years.

Chukwueze can become world-class player —Zidane

https://i2.wp.com/sportingtribune.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Samuel-Chukwueze-s-1.jpg?w=450&ssl=1
Samuel Chukwueze.

Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, has said that Nigeria international, Samuel Chukwueze, has the potential to be among the best players in the world.

Youngster Chukwueze, who features for Villarreal in the Spanish LaLiga Santander, shone with the Super Eagles at the just-ended Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, where the three-time African champions placed third.

Speaking to Tribunesport in New York recently, Zidane said Chukwueze would be one of the world’s best players in the future.

The former World Footballer of the Year who spoke to Tribunesport at the Adidas Store on 5th Avenue, Soho Square, New York last Thursday, spoke through an interpreter.

“Chukwueze plays like Arjen Robben,” the former Real Madrid of Spain player said. However, for Chukwueze to fully grow into the mould of Robben with as much success as the Dutch player attracted, ‘Zizou’ advises that the player must not lose focus on certain qualities.

“He must be focused, disciplined, and dedicated,” Zidane said.

Zidane also spoke on the AFCON which took place for the first time this summer. According to him, this will allow players who play in the European leagues to be more focused, unlike when it was being held between January and February, when leagues in Europe will be in thick of action.

Meanwhile following Chukwueze’s stellar performance at the 2019 AFCON, Villarreal have placed €65million on the player. But English Premiership side Liverpool are worried over this development.

The European champions had been in talks with Villarreal for the services of Chukwueze before the Egypt 2019 tournament with a lower prize tag placed on the player then.

Tribunesport understands that Michael Edwards, Liverpool Sporting Director, is however hopeful that they can still beat down the amount Villarreal are demanding.

https://sportingtribune.com/chukwueze-can-become-world-class-player-zidane/amp/
Chukwueze needs to score a lot of goals and make assists to hit it big.

Nicolas Pepe, a similar and even less skilful player, is getting more attention because he scores goals and does assists.

Lille is not a bad move for Osimhen.

Strikers generally do well in Ligue 1.

Any average striker will score 15 goals in a season in Ligue 1. Even Ideye netted 15 for Sochaux.

If you are exceptional, you will score a lot

At old age, Zlatan did 38.

Mbappe is hitting goals like no tomorrow.

Stumbled on Jarus' linkedIn profile recently, and i started wondering why he makes out time to interact with many of the immature people on this thread. It takes alot of humility to do that. I cannot even keep up with the pages.

Like i tell my friends, we should continue praying to God and hope for the best. Everybody's time will come whether in NNPC or somewhere else.
lol

The guy you quoted even took a dig at some of us as " always on Nairaland commenting" despite "boasting" of not taking the offer if given.
cheesy

With or without this thread, some of us have "lived on Nairaland" for 12 years and a Nairaland official far back 9 years ago. Perhaps some folks think Nairaland is just about jobs or about NNPC. Same Nairaland that I was the moderator of Politics section from 2010-2012.

I have visited NL almost everyday in the last 12 years and commented almost everytime. It's not anyone's sub that will stop me.

Far back 2009, listed as 2nd best contributor to career section on Nairaland https://www.nairaland.com/815608/chamber2-voted-career-section-poster#9672466

If responding to mentions on this thread or coming to share useful information I have on NNPC (as I have done for 12 years) means I'm jobless and desperate for NNPC, I'm happy to be jobless.

To some of us, discussing careers is part of our daily life.

And it is not my fault if anyone uses me as gauge of his expectation in this NNPC. It's not my business what anyone believes.

My main "sauce" has been out of Nigeria for a couple of weeks now. Could only give update when back.

Let me check with my other "sauces".
In the absence of my primary source, feedback from 2 of my secondary sources:

First (doesn't work in NNPC but his closest friends that he mingles with on daily basis, work in NNPC, some in HR): "I am not in Abuja now to help you confirm from them but I overhead them saying September"

Second (works in NNPC, close to last GMD on personal level): "Latest September"

My question in both cases was " When will NNPC contact successful candidates?"

I think September (or late August) looks like a reasonable time to expect. The process of approving that list was not going to be that easy. I also think if it was going to come out in the next 2 weeks, there would have been heavy rumour (leaks) in the air now. I have not seen such from any credible source yet.

Just my thoughts.

Good morning.

sholarr12:
FourFourTwo has ranked the 101 greatest footballers of the last 25 years and Messi and Ronaldo unsurprisingly make the top ten. Here is the list of the top ten:

1. LIONEL MESSI

If Cristiano Ronaldo is Rafael Nadal – never stopping in the relentless quest for perfection – then Messi is Roger Federer. The most naturally gifted athlete his sport has ever produced, the Argentine normalises the superhuman, achieving apparent perfection with an insouciant swish of his left foot.

“I feel sorry for those who want to compete for Messi’s throne,” Pep Guardiola once said. “It’s impossible, this kid is unique.”

Trying to make sense of Messi is to give up on football, to forget the reason why you first started watching in the first place, cross-legged in the front room or open-mouthed on the stands. Suspend your disbelief and follow what most opponents do. Admire.

2. CRISTIANO RONALDO

3. ZINEDINE ZIDANE

4. RONALDO

5. RONALDINHO

6. THIERRY HENRY

7. XAVI

8. ANDRES INIESTA

9. PAOLO MALDINI

10. ROBERTO BAGGIO

I agree with the Top 5 but I don't agree with 6-10. I'm not convinced Henry should come before Xavi and Iniesta.
