okunoba:
Yoruba de talk am say man wey never see another farm before go think say na im papa farm big pass, OAU students need to open eye. I am from Ife and love the University but to call it the best in Nigeria is going too far, maybe one of the best makes more sense.

Bad habits die hard, now I understand the Odechukwu name calling brigades, na from school dem learn am and have refused to grow out of it.
Oya, bring your 'best university in Nigeria' and prove to us why it is.

CALL FOR SPONSORS - 2011 EDITION
Salam alaykam waramotullahi wabarakatuhu,
Ramadan 2011 is here, alhamdulilah, and insha Allah this Nairalanders' Iftar event will be witnessing its 3rd edition.
As you can see from this thread, which has been in existence for 2 years now, the maiden edition took place Ramadan 2009 at Mama Cass Restuarant, VI, Lagos and bankrolled by a member(name withheld). The 2nd edition, which took place last year, was done twice. First, sponsored by contributions from a number of members(brothers and sisters), was held at a Restuarant in Ikeja Lagos, while the second was solely bankrolled by Brother Majorola and held at Ikoyi Lagos. They were all very interesting and enhanced brotherhood(and sisterhood) among Muslim Nairalanders.

This year, insha Allah, the trend will continue. We therefore invite heeled brothers and sisters to earn Allah's bountiful rewards associated with feeding fasting Muslims, to seize this opportunity by coming forward to sponsor or co-sponsor the events. Insha Allah, we plan to have at least 3 in Lagos, and possibly in other places like Abuja, Kaduna and Kano for Nairalanders there.

HINTS:
1, The sponsor(s) will organize venue, which may be private house or Restaurant
2, The venue should not be too far, like the Lagos extremes(Ikorodu, Epe etc) may be too far to come. So residents of such areas willing to take up teh challenge may arrange a venue in more accessible areas like Island, Mainland, Ikeja etc
3, Sole sponsorship may cost between 30-50k depending on attendance, so should take note of budget

Even as a mod(of the most influential section for that matter grin'), i never heard the name not to talk of knowing he/she had been made a Supermod until I saw him copied alongside Mukina in one PM Seun sent to us Politics Mods recently.
Even after doing serach to know who this new SM was, it didnt return sufficient info on him.

Silent performer he must be then, I concluded and moved on.
Culture › Re: Between Igbo And Hausa Which Is Easier To Learn? by Jarus(m): 7:31am On Jul 31, 2011
@Sheshi. If you say  indigenous Yoruba dont exist in Ghana, then you dont know Ghana. Though minority, they exist and are called 'Anago'.

@topic,
I believe Hausa, despite having feminine and masculine forms, is the easiest, closely followed by Yoruba. The hardest, beyond the 3 major, is Ebira. Simple 'bye bye', translated to Ebira may give you a 1o-word sentence.

The reason why Hausa may be the easiest is because words forming sentences are usually coarse, separate, each having almost standard meaning. Eg Ina kwana, ina aeni, lafia lau, yaya aiki, muje etc.

Of all the non-native speakers of the 3 Languages I know, Yoruba and Hausa are Head-to-Head on the highest no of non-native speakers, and Yoruba is even boosted by the Lagos factor. I know thousands of non-Hausa that speak Hausa fluently or at least passably. I also know thousands of non-Yoruba that speak Yoruba well. But i have  met only one Yoruba that can speak Ibo well(a colleague of mine).

Another reason for this may be that Ibos hardly speak their language, unlike, more notoriously, Hausa, and Yoruba.

Wale Tınubu and Mofe Boyo, Oando whızkıds, are both lawyers. I thınk Wale Tınubu has hıs llm ın Oıl and Gas or Shıppıng or somethıng sımılar. Both guys, though frıends, were workıng ın law fırms(Wale ın hıs father's law fırm and Mofe ın Rotımı Wıllıams Chamber) when they ıdentıfıed the undertapped goldmıne ın Oıl and Gas ındustry. They came together, along wıth theır thırd Frıend, Jıte Okoloko, to go ınto small oıl and gas busıness. They dıd not look back. That was early 90's. Today, theır baby, Oando, ıs perhaps Afrıca's largest ındıgenous O&G group.

Go ahead. There should be opportunıty ın O&G when you come back, although ıt may not be as easy. Invest the money ın the programme, ıt's worth ıt. But dont forget personal development too, ıt's very ımportant beyond ın career rıse beyond certıfıcate.

All the best.

Out of all the comments on this topic I thing the one of oladele is more reasonable. I think we all know hw sensitive our economy is. The issues on sharia should not have comes up at this moment, the CBN should come up with a policy to restore back the fear he has created in the banking industry and the economy at large. He can then come up with the issue on sharia when the economy is balance. I ll advise the Governor to be watchful in the ways he handle issues that relate to the nation due to the sensitive nature of the economy.

@jarus

it is possible for one not to be very smart at the secondary school level and yet make a first class.Not really an olodo as you put it, but someone with an average intelligence.The difference is that he/she will have to struggle very hard to make it compare to his mates who were very smart at the sec sch level.My secondary sch mate who made a 1st class was never among the best in our class then.
Agreeable.
Only that most people I know that made First Class have history of brilliance throughout right from their primary thru secondary schools, and the few exceptions were still above average or clearly had the potential but unserious/unmotivated in their lower levels.
