Yes sir why did you leave NNPC?  My friend got a way bigger job. NNPC no dey list of Top 7 highest paying oil companies in Nigeria o. TOTAL Upstream, Shell, Chevron, ENI/AGIP, Exxon, Addax, Seplat, NLNG and a few other independents pay more than NNPC, especially at non-managerial level. But from management level, they are close. I know people that moved from Shell to NNPC but at high level - GM level. |

Two bankers, one is an engineering graduate and hopes to work in an engineering capacity at nnpc, the older banker studied biochemistry but hopes to continue in the finance line. Is it appropriate for either to include the extant job experience in the CV? Obviously both are GTs. For the guy that wants to return to engineering, if he has not spent much time in banking, say less than 6 months (or he finished NYSC not more than 9 months ago), he can leave the experience out. A 6-9 month stay at home after NYSC can be explained. But if it is more than that, and he leaves it out of the CV, except he has something to put there as what he was doing, the gap may throw up difficulty questions about why he was jobless for that long, which is a worse situation than putting the banking experience on CV and honestly explaining that he only took up banking job temporarily awaiting an engineering opportunity like this. The other guy is fine to put the banking experience there. |

SBU is just division of the group for ease of managing businesses that are similar. So there will be a number of subsidiaries doing similar business under an SBU. |

Jarus, what of an economics graduate? I have researched but cant really figure out which subsidiary is suitable. Thanka More of divisions than subsidiary. Fits into divisions like investment management divisions like NAPIMS and LNG Investment Management Services (LIMS). Fits into Commercial division, and even Finance and Accounts. Also supply management. Most fittingly, Planning. In fact, the GM Planning for NAPIMS studied Economics Education. As you're a GT, you can really be trained to fit into these units and more. Let me give you a clue: go and read the profile of their top guys (GGMs etc), look for someone that studied economics and what he is doing now. You can even use it as an example. Generally, GTs have more flexibility in terms of divisions of relevance because you can be trained to fit into almost anywhere. I studied economics myself and I head the tax unit (under Finance division) of an oil company. You guys are getting for free some of the info we wan share for our training starting today o. #LOL Dont forget to come to our training sha. Lol  |

I'm very confused right now.
I'm presently undergoing training as a graduate trainee in one of the first-generation banks in Nigeria. I resumed not too long ago, and it's gonna span for three months, after which I'd be fully absorbed into the bank as a core staff. The training school is in Lagos, and you dare not seek permission, as it will not be granted. You even risk getting sent off if you arrive the training school 10 minutes late.
Just yesterday, I received an email from NNPC stating that I've been shortlisted for an interview (Graduate Trainee) slated to hold in Abuja next week.
I really don't know what to do, as I risk losing both if I attend the interview with NNPC without an express permission from the bank.
N.B: Both are graduate trainee roles.
I'm mystified right now. I hope to get plausible answers from my ogas here..
