Sanusi is your CBN Guv. His name has already been forwarded to SSS for screening, and SSS did not deny that. Also, his name is expected to be forwarded to Senate for screening anytime from now, but since Senate may not conclude the screening before Friday, when Soludo's tenure expires, an acting Guv, any of the Deputies most likely, may be appointed before Sanusi is cleared

True talk. We've not had a natural, reliable 9 since Rashidi. Martins and Yakubu have not been effective. Pitiably, we are lacking in every department. No more formidable midfield. Our traditional wing play has since gone because we've not had effective wingers since Amuneke and Finidi. Utaka, Osaze, Nsofor, Ogbuke and all other current day SE wingers are no where near even Tijani Babangida, much as Osaze is trying.

The oil people may pay well at the point of entry but a lotta *coded coys are paying very well.
Investmant banking houses, asset mgt coys, some banks can actually match some oil coys now
Exactitude(to use Brash's grammar)!

I had a brief stint with Vetiva, and I can say they can match many oil companies, pay-wise.

Another post on NL that threw me off my seat, thunderously laughing, was when somebody opened a thread to confess that he had being lying all this while that he was based in/posting from UK. The guy had been claiming for long time that he was in UK, but maybe he became 'born-again' and repented. It was very funny as the guy confessed that he was in Nigeria. It's a pity I don't have any key word to search for the thread.
Islam › Re: Prostration As A Mode Of Greeting In Islam ! Why The Conflict ? by Jarus(m): 4:43pm On May 27, 2009
olabowale:
Every signand action of worship (prostration is one of them) is forbidden, except ermitted/commanded/allowed by Allah. Allah commanded the Angels, and Iblis the genie being was in their company to prostrate to Adam. The Angels did, but Iblis didn't because of arrogance of his creation source (smokeless fire, while Adam (man) was created from mixtures of many hues/colors of the soil from the earth and waters). It is the very action of Iblis that let Angels know that Iblis (Shaitan) is a disbeliever, since he was deemed a believer by them before them. Allah knew the secret in the heart, always and reveals it, through the actions of the disbelievers.

Joseph (AS) dreamt that his father, Jacob (AS) and his siblings, family prostrated their faces to him. The dreams of Messengers and or Prophets are always true, the very reason that Jacob (Israel) was to prostrate to his son, Joseph. I wonder who is more important if you look at the esoteric values of their actions; the one who prostrated or the one who prostration was offered?

In the two cases, above, Allah allowed them. Based on the hadith of the Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (AS), it is apparent that no prostration is allowed. I will not do it and I dont accept it from anyone. Islam comes to improve people. Some aspects of Arabic cultures were abrogated and no not fit into Islam. Islam has its own culture. I have learnt not to take every Yoruba culture, unless it fits into Islam. I do not say Ori mi o, Eda mi o jare, since if Ori is understood, it will mean "Soul!", but not another name or word for Creator. Eda, Olorun, Eledumare, Oluwa, and names that clearly point to Creator/God are what I will say.

Lets be true muslim. Lets leave subtle "disbelief" to the actual disbelievers. Lets try to be "true believers."
And me too, egbon

Teslim "Thunder" Balogun

Balogun, a lanky forward nicknamed 'Thunder' because of his powerful shot, was the first Nigerian to play in the League, with Peterborough in 1955.
I think this answers the question. Good research.

Arthur Wharton

Britain's first black footballer. Born in Ghana in 1865 to mixed-race parents (his father was half-Scottish), Wharton joined Preston North End in 1886. He was a brave keeper, in an era when they received no protection from referees.
Yes, I recall Ghanaians bragging with this on Ghanaweb when we were discussing seniority in football, as usual between Nigerians and Ghanaians. One Naija guy was claiming that Naija players had been playing in England for very long time(putting forward Chidozie, Fash, Ikoku etc) when one Ghanaian forumer dug out this.
Sports › Re: First Nigerian To Play Professional footie in England? by Jarus(op): 3:30pm On May 27, 2009
Fash is out of it. We mean players that identified solely with Nigeria.
Sports › Re: First Nigerian To Play Professional footie in England? by Jarus(op): 3:26pm On May 27, 2009
Ever heard of John Chidozie?
He played for Tottenham 1979-1982(not too sure I'm accurate, but around that time). At the national team, anytime he was played with Segun Odegbami, Segun moved to centre forward and left the flank for him. He was a winger

Source:
1, An Executive Director in my company who supports Tottenham. I asked him one day why he supports Spurs of all clubs and he told me he had been supporting them since 1982, when they had a Nigerian player, before he even went to UK to school. Because of this guy, this my oga supports Tottenham passionately till today.

2, I remember reading one of Segun Odegbami's articles, where he mentioned the guy.

I also heard from this my boss that one Nigerian played for Man U in the late 70's. Can't recall what he called his name but I think it's a Yoruba name.

Anybody with more accurate info on these players?

NB: I don't mean Premier league as it later metamorphosed in 1992, I mean English top league, whatever the name was then.

dude not every muslim here fall under this category. I for one do not quote bible references here even when i have read it from genesis to revelation. Read my posts well and you will see muslims here quote a lot from the quran.

Islamic science is a wide field and not every tom privates and harry become religous scholars overnight without hardwork of diligent study. The muslims here do not claim to be islamic scholars and a few are students of knowledge trying to better themselves and learn from others, unfortunately the ever constant arguements is a painful distraction.
Don't mind them jare. Maybe they think becoming an Islamic scholar/authority is like becoming a pastor, which goes not beyond ability to blow grammar and cram bible.
Nairaland General › Re: Have You Ever Met A Nairalander? If Yes? Are You Still Friends? by Jarus(m): 10:43am On May 26, 2009
Physically, I have met about 10, but only three can be said to be active. One is a very popular Nairalander and we work in the same office. I met another one in a cafe while serving in Sokoto, although we had been friends before I even knew he was a lander. There was another I also met in Sokoto, a veterinary medical student of Sokoto University, but he is not that active on NL. There was another one, very popular in Music/TV section, that got to identify me as his cousin's friend. I had known him for over six years and he used to pray in our house's mosque with his cousin(my friend), but we got to know on NL early this year.

There are other colleagues and old classmates of mine who are registered members, but don't post.

But the two Nairalanders I'm closest to, off-NL, are Mukina and Dominique. We are so close off-NL but we have never seen one another physically. We meet on FB.

My opinion all this while had been that Soludo should be given second term. I had also tipped Okonjo Iweala, for her grip of world banking and international recognition capable of currying favour to Nigeria in the global financial scene. I also looked at the direction of an insider or anybody that had held a top position in CBN before. Shamsudeen Usman, as a former CBn governor, would have easily been my choice here but I'm not too impressed with his barely visible posture as Finance minister.

Although I had known Shamsudeen Usman for over 10 years, and I first heard about Sanusi mid-last year, I think Sanusi is not a bad choice. I have heard and read much about his brilliance. I was opportuned to meet him after Jumaat in a Mosque in VI a couple of months ago and I saw humility written all over him. But don't get me wrong, I'm not saying humility will translate to good performance.

Much has been said about his Credit & Enterprise risk management expertise, and commentators seem to be unanimous that he's Nigeria's best brain in this aspect of banking. This I believe will be useful in his new job.

But his greatest challenge, I think, will be surpassing his predecessor, Soludo. He will easily be benchmarked against the Anambra-born Economist, and he needs to work double hard to match Soludo. Soludo's visibility, vocal prowess and understanding of global economy is hard to match by someone with no experience in international economy.

I wish Sanusi, one of the people I look up to as an Economics graduate myself, all the best.

Sorry abt that brother.

But hope you didn't fill in your Bank/ATM details on any Interswitch website asking you to do so?.

I've been having some scam mails come in my mailbox requesting me to do that and I'll believe a lot of other people have been getting such mails which could utterly result to having your account cleaned up by scammers.

Anyways wish you luck with the investigation
That was what also came to my mind immediately I read the post. I also nearly fell victim of that mail some time ago.
Maybe the guy had released his ATM info and his ATM had been cloned.

Some ATM machines, like that of Oceanic, take pictures. My younger sister's ATM was stolen a couple of weeks ago and her account drained. But when she complained in the bank, it was investigated and found to be withdrawn by a known person, her school mate, through the picture taken. The girl had been contacted and she's already refunding the amount she withdrew.

But even if the ATM took the picture, it is another thing to identify the person. He/she may be a totally unknown person.

Yes, in asmuch as you have faith and believe in the oneness of Allah, no matter how small. No Muslim will dwell in Hellfire forever. But the Hellfire(Jahannam) is not a place we should hope to spend even 10 seconds in. We should also work towards entering paradise(Jannah) straight.

Different people, difference style. The fact that Obama didn't precede Fashola to this, doesn't make Fashola wrong. It may not be wrong placing advert in papers, greeting a leader, but directing that the cost should be chanelled into a more beneficial area is not wrong either, and if anything, better.

Good move,Fashola.

I also follow football very well. . .I support Arsenal(since 2001) and Barca(since Kluivert days), but I'm not fanatical about football. I mind my utterances. I don't hate anybody because of football.

But again, I watch football very well.
